We said goodbye to Snoopy this morning. She will be terribly missed.
She purred until the very end.
Rest in peace.
(June 2000 to July 2015)
I placed my very first ColourPop order before the start of NO BUY JUNE and NO BUY JULY. I thought that I would share them with you today, since I’ve had plenty of time to test them out.
ColourPop was born, raised and made with love in the City of Angels (aka Los Angeles) so we can react quickly to the latest and greatest trends and get them in your fabulous hands stat.
We take the phrase “if you can dream it, you can do it” to a whole new level and specialize in making killer makeup in every shade imaginable at prices everyone can afford. We think that whole barrier between fancy and affordable is absolute nonsense. That’s why all of our products have luxury formulas at prices that won’t break the bank.
Have an idea for a great shade? Shoot us an email. We love feedback from our customers. We find inspiration everywhere from the catwalk to YouTube and can turn what’s trending now into a shade tomorrow.
PS. We are 100% fur baby friendly, bunny approved, and only test our products on humans – the ones in our HQ to be exact.
The awesome thing about ColourPop Lippie Stix is the large range of colours for only $5 US each! They are available in a range of different finishes: crème, sheer, satin, glossy, hyper-glossy, matte and pearlized. They also have a clear lip primer as well. Notice how they have the name and a colour indicator on the end – I love this because it makes it so easy to grab the one I want without having to remember the colour names.
I ordered six lippie stix, including the primer, in three of the different finishes pearlized, hyper glossy and matte. From left to right: grind (matte), lady (matte), yasmin (matte), go fish (hyper-glossy), wet (pearlized) and primer.
I really like the shape of the tip of the lippie stix, it makes it really easy to achieve a precise lip shape if you don’t have a lip liner pencil.
Primer – Our Lippie Primer enhances the wear of any lip product and keeps your lips looking and feeling healthy! Our primer contains itty bitty spherical beads that fill in fine lines making lips instantly smooth and plump! It also contains mango, avocado and shea butter for moisture and Vitamin E, which soothes your lips. My thoughts – It really does smooth out your lips. I don’t find that my lips get as dry when I pair this with a matte lipstick.
Wet – A cool toned taupe gunmetal in a pearlized finish. Get your shine on. My thoughts – I really like this one either by itself, or as a topper for another lipstick. It is more gunmetal than taupe on me.
Go fish – Improve your game with this vibrant coral red in a hyper glossy finish. My thoughts – I FREAKING LOVE THIS ONE! It is so bright and glossy! ❤ ❤ ❤
Lady – Act like a lady, look like a boss in this cool toned dirty burgundy in a Matte Finish. My thoughts – This one leans more brown than burgundy one me, but I still like it. I think that I will wear this one more in the colder months.
Yasmin – Electric coral in a Matte finish. My thoughts – Another winner. Very bright, very matte. ❤
Grind – Vivid blue violet in a matte finish. My thoughts – I LOVE PURPLE. This one is another winner, very bright and matte. ❤
Overall, I am super happy with all of the Lippie Stix, but the my absolute favourite is Go Fish. All are long wearing, and the colour payoff is fantastic. They have a faint scent that reminds me of those little tictac mints.
Disclosure: I bought this!
Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day! ❤ ❤ ❤
For price, colour range, wearability and longevity, you can’t go wrong with the ColourPop Lippie Stix.
I’ve seen some really beautiful acrylic storage options recently, but since I’m trying to save money and not spend money, I decided to look for a cheaper option.
I bought this little clear plastic lipstick caddy from the dollar store. As you can see, it holds nine lipsticks.
My complaint is that they don’t stay straight and wobble in all directions, which is annoying in the morning when you reach for one lipstick and cause the rest to wobble, scatter and flee all over the floor.
While I have your attention, here’s swatches from the pictured lipsticks. These ones are from the middle and bottom rows of the lipstick caddy, all are Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick. Swatched from left to right are: Lovelight, Fiend, Manic, Jilted, F-Bomb and Shame. These days I’m using Manic as my go-to lipstick.
As always, thanks for reading! And have a beautiful day! ❤ ❤ ❤
Mini haul? Whaaaaaaaaat? But wait, aren’t a minute Jodi, aren’t you doing NO BUY JULY?
Yes, I am, but I am placing products that I’ve either run out of, or am about to run out of, which is ok by the NO BUY rules that I’m following.
All of the labels in the Lush store here in Montreal are in french, so I’ve decided to include the names both in english and en français. I got: fresh facial mask / masque frais (Catastrophe Cosmetic / Cosmétique catastrophe), hair treament / traitment capillaires ( Hair Doctor / Docteur cheveux), shampoo / shampooing (Rehab / Restauration) and conditioner / revitalisant (Veganese / Végétalien). As well, I received two sample shower smoothies / lait frappés (Turkish Delight / Délice Turq and Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner / Revitalisant corporel à l’argan de Ro).
Reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to use everything long enough to have an opinion.
Have a beautiful day! ❤ ❤ ❤
Disclosure: I bought these things!
Since several of you have shown me your “what’s in my bag” posts, I thought I would show you mine, haha.
So here we go, this is my go-to daily bag from Matt & Nat, it has a long cross-body strap and a shorter shoulder strap. I mostly use the cross-body strap. This one isn’t listed on their site anymore sadly.
Under the flap is a small pocket – in here is where I keep my house keys, subway card and a small change pouch for bus money in case I forgot to top up my card. My key chain is a jumble of bits – a climbing carabiner, a tag with my name on it from Florida, a heart shaped key ring (from a Betsey Johnson keychain that broke), and a mini screw driver for my glasses. There used to be a mini Maglight on there too, but I took it off to replace the batteries, and haven’t put it back on yet.
Next is a top view of my bag, as you can see, there is a zippered section and a snap closure section:
Inside the zippered section is where I keep my Moleskine agenda, a couple of pens, my Betsey Johnson prescription sunglasses (if I’m wearing my contacts, the sunglasses will be one of the several pairs I own), a pack of mints, and a small canvas shopping bag.
In the snap closure part of the bag, I have my giant Matt & Nat wallet, my phone (here’s my current case by Caitlyn Hackett) and my earphones. *I’m actually using the phone to take these photos*
And here’s the contents on the little zip pocket inside the snap closure section. This is where I keep a sunscreen sample pack, kleenex, allergy eye drops, eyeglass cleaner and cloth, band-aid blister stick, Urban Decay powder compact, whatever lipstick that I happen to be wearing, and of course, a Haus of Gloi lip balm.
Other things that are usually found in my purse, but weren’t actually in there this morning, are a notebook (if I’m working), my pink animal print blog idea notebook, my kindle, a hair elastic, and a small pouch (for emergency tampons, pads, pain killers etc). Not pictured is my small pastel rainbow Fulton umbrella because it seems to have wandered away. (This is a tragedy!!!)

Hello, and happy Friday!!! Just a short review for you today:
I don’t remember exactly when I purchased my Milani Cosmetics Baked Blush, perhaps in May, but I only started using it about two weeks ago. I don’t have very many blushes, but after getting the Milani Rose Powder Blush and LOVING it (review here), I wanted to try another one from them.
Here’s what it says on the Milani website:
This silky blush with benefits can be used so many ways. It shapes, it contours, it highlights. Sunbaked on Italian terracotta tiles, it’s buildable from sheer to vibrant. Yes, it adds a cheeky pop of colour to your complexion. Radiance and warmth, too.
I purchased it in shade Rose D’Oro, which is described as a soft rose with a golden glow. I think that is a good description of the shade. Just look at how gorgeous it looks!
It comes with a small synthetic brush which I will be tossing in the recycling bin because it feels horrible and the shape doesn’t work for me. I’d rather use my Wayne Goss #12 brush (review here).
The Milani Baked Blush is definitely buildable, but for a pale gal like myself, I have to be careful else I will look like a clown! I think that it is a lovely shade for summer, as it adds warmth and a nice glow.
Verdict: Another great blush from Milani, I’m so glad that I took a chance on this one! I think I might have to try a few different shades once no buy July is over.

Between my seasonal allergies and a recent bout of insomnia, dark circles have become a bit of a problem once again. In my quest to find THE ONE, I decided to try out the Dark Circle Concealer by Nyx Cosmetics.
Here’s what it says that it can do (taken from the Nyx website product description):
A serious solution for one of beauty’s most challenging problems! No fancy names just a product that can be counted on to do the job. The product glides on without looking thick or obvious. Coconut oil provides intensive moisture and ensures no caking. The subtle hint of orange counteracts the appearance of dark circles while natural skin-toned pigments work in unison to provide the ultimate coverage.
My experience: I chose to purchase this one in the lightest shade (fair). When I opened it, I thought, “Eep! It seems awfully orange, and not subtle at all!”. Well, it really applies smoothly and easily, I’ve had no problem applying it with both my fingers and with a concealer brush. It doesn’t dry out the under eye area, and it helps to mask dark circles. But it doesn’t fully hide them. I’ve never found a product that fully hides dark circles.
Verdict: Is it THE ONE? I’m not sure if it really is the one, but it does work. Would I buy it again? Probably, unless I find something that works even better. And so the quest continues…
Question: What is your go-to concealer for dark circles?
Thanks for reading, and have a beautiful day!!! ❤

Because I’m fairly pale, my skin burns really easily in the sun, so I try to always wear sunscreen. I’ve found that a lot of sunscreens do not work very well with other makeup and leave me streaky or causes my makeup to either crease or pill. I was browsing on the Beautylish website at the end of May to see what kind of sun protection products that they had and stumbled upon Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ (what a name!).
Here is what is says on the It Cosmetics website:
This highly pigmented multi-tasking beauty miracle truly covers everything, will not crease or crack in fine lines, and gives you a healthy, Your Skin But Better® glow. Paraben-free and SPF 50+ UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum, Physical Only, Non-Chemical Sunscreen.
Developed with leading plastic surgeons, Your Skin But Better® CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+ is truly a multi-tasking beauty miracle. It’s your SPF 50+ UVA/UVB Physical only sunscreen that protects against the rays that both burn your skin and age your skin. CC+™ is infused with cutting edge Anti-Aging technology and is clinically proven to improve skin texture, brightness and increase skin hydration by 79%. The Anti-Aging hydrating formula is infused with Peptides, Niacin, Algae, Vitamins A, C, B, E, Hyaluronic Acid and Hydrolyzed Collagen along with Antioxidants and exotic natural botanicals for long-term brightening and color-correcting benefits.
And here is a little more info from Beautylish:
It’s 7 steps in one! It’s your moisturizing day cream, anti-aging serum, pore minimizing primer, skin brightener, dark spot corrector, and full coverage foundation, and sun protection all in one.
My experience: I chose the second lightest shade, as I was afraid that the lightest shade would be too ghostly for this time of year, since I do tan very slightly (not by most people’s standards, but I am far paler in the colder months). When I first opened the box, I thought to myself, “oh no, this is going to make me look like I have mud on my face”. See how DARK it looks on my skin:
A little goes a long way with this CC Cream. If you are over-zealous in your application, you will be a cake face. I love that it comes in a tube with a pump, it makes application so much easier, with less mess. There is a lemony scent to the CC cream, but it fades quickly as the product sets. I’ve tried applying the CC+ cream with a foundation brush, a Beauty Blender knockoff sponge, and with my fingers. I have had terrible results with using a foundation brush, but I’m not sure if that is due to being new to using a foundation brush, or if the product doesn’t work well with that application method. Applying with my fingers gives me a good medium coverage, and with a damp Beauty Blender type sponge gives me a sheerer light to medium coverage. The photo below is of the CC+ Cream rubbed into the skin with my fingers – it blends in with my skin tone and warms it up.
I’ve been using my Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Pressed Finishing Powder in Naked Medium Light with it.
Overall, I find it to be moisturizing without feeling greasy, definitely pore minimizing, and I feel that it does make my skin look brighter. I will switch to the lightest shade (fair) in the autumn / winter months.
Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ comes in a limited range of 5 shades: fair, light, medium, rich and tan, $38 USD for 32ml (1.08 fl. oz). You can order it directly from It Cosmetics, Beautylish, The Shopping Channel (Canada), Ulta, and QVC.
Disclosure: I purchased this! And I will purchase it again.
A great giveaway!
