So this morning I was all set to continue with part two of my Crown Brush review. Guess what? My lens malfunctioned and ALL OF THE PHOTOS that I took yesterday in preparation for this morning’s post are all slightly out of focus and unusable. It is really overcast this morning and the light is horrible, so I will have to postpone the review until Wednesday so I can re-shoot the photos.
Rather than skip posting, I’m going to tell you about my running essentials.
I had to take a few weeks off from running because my knees were troublesome almost all summer. Yesterday was a sunny but cool morning, so I decided to attempt a to go for a run because my knees were feeling ok. This was my first run in several weeks. I had expected my endurance to be terrible, but I managed to run much further than I had expected before needing to slow down to a walk and catch my breath. My knees feel great today, so I’m hoping to be able to go for another run in the next couple of days.
When I run by myself I use the Zombies, Run! app. It gives a storyline to listen with your own playlist in between the story clips. There is a 5k training version of this app which is a really fun way to get started in a running program. I like that it keeps track of my mileage and pace per km because it is a great way to track progress.
When I run with Mr. Al, I use the Runkeeper app to track my mileage and pace, since I don’t use headphones when we run together. It is also great for tracking your progress.
To keep me from dropping my phone, I have a little waistbelt called a SPIbelt. It is a tiny little pouch that expands to hold my iPhone so I don’t drop it while I’m running. It keeps it flat to the body and doesn’t bounce around. I like it better than sticking my iPhone in my pocket and having it make my pants fall down while trying to run.
One of the most important things for running is good footwear. I highly recommend going to a running store and having them do a running analysis on you so you can get running shoes that work for your foot and stride type. I got my analysis done at a running store, found out what type of shoes work best for me, and then bought my running shoes at Winners because they actually had the ones that worked for my feet at a way cheaper price because they were the previous year’s model.
The other important thing for running is a good sportsbra. I’ve had several different brands over the years, with varying levels of comfort, and I have to say that the sportsbras from Moving Comfort are truly the best ones that I’ve ever worn. I have both the Fiona and Maia styles. I like the Maia sprortsbra the best because it has a gel insert in the straps and in the bottom band which makes it a lot more comfortable to wear.
Thanks for reading, and have a beautiful day!!! ❤ ❤ ❤
Crown brush review part two will be coming on Wednesday morning.
Disclosure: I purchased all the things!
That’s awful about your photos! Did you cry? I think I would cry.
This zombie running app is intriguing! I need to check that out!
I’m also adding that sports bra to my wish list. Gel in the straps sounds divine.
This is a fun post! 🙂

No crying – just some swearing involved!
Zombies, run! is super fun, it isn’t a free app though.

Still, a cool concept! I’m a big wimp and probably couldn’t handle it though 🙂

Oh man, I would have thrown something against the wall.
What kind of camera do you use?
I have this THING about sports bras! Why are they ALL the over the head kind? I hate HATE that. I only buy ones that have back clasp closures but they’re hard to come by.
I like running shorts that have the little pockets in the belt to keep my key or some coin just in case!

Oh and I meant to say that I have an ipod nano so it’s tiny – I cannot run with a phone… the risk of damage is just too great lol!

Yeah, that is why I got the SPIbelt – it holds it for me and doesn’t make my pants fall down while I run, haha!

I just use my iPhone, but I have an olloclip lens attachment for it.
I hate the over the head sportsbra, but the ones from moving comfort that I have are the back clip ones.
My running pants and capris (mostly from MEC) have a little pocket in them at the back waist that I use to hold my keys.

Oh no, I hope the re-shoot won’t take too long 😦 That sucks!
Nice running post, though. I am verrrrry much not a runner, so this is all new stuff to me. LOL!

It shouldn’t take me too long, but I didn’t have time or light to reshoot on Monday.
I’m not a super fast runner, but I do enjoy it!
