Nyx Butter Lipstick in Pops (MLBB!)

Pamper your lips with a hydrating kiss of smooth Butter Lipstick in 22 luxurious shades. The delicate texture of satin fused with the high color saturation creates an even finish on lips that’s long-wearing and beautiful.

Nyx Butter1

This is going to be a fairly short review because the Nyx Butter Lipstick is AWESOMETASTIC! ❤ ❤ ❤

Nyx Butter2

I bought the Nyx Butter Lipstick in colour Pops / Explosif. It is a perfect “my lips but better” shade, and is so incredibly moisturizing. I’m a lip balm addict and I don’t need lip balm when I’m wearing this lipstick.

Nyx Butter3

I love that the tube is the colour of the lipstick so I can easily find the one that I’m looking for when I’m in a hurry.

Nyx Butter4

Texture-wise that this just might be the best lipstick that I’ve ever owned. It has great pigmentation even though it is a light colour.

Verdict: I love Nyx Butter Lipstick! I plan on buying Nyx Butter Lipsticks in several more colours – on my list so far – Fruit Punch, Thunderstorm, Moonlit Night, Firecracker, Root Beer Float, Fire Brick to name a few. Do you have any favourites?

Disclosure: I purchased this!

e.l.f. BB Cream, HD Uplifting Concealer and HD Undereye Setting Powder

Good morning / afternoon / evening lovely people!

Just a little three-fer review of a few e.l.f. products that I’ve gotten in recent mini-hauls (here and here)

elf 1

First up is the e.l.f. Studio BB Cream with SPF 20 in shade Fair.

elf2

I decided to try this one out as a replacement for my it cosmetics CC cream with SPF 50 in shade light for a two main reasons: price ($6 USD / $7.99 CAD versus $38 USD), shade (once the weather changes, I revert to a lighter pale and I’ve noticed that the CC cream was already starting to look too dark for me). If you want to read the review of the CC cream (here).

Prime, protect, moisturize, and perfect your skin with this multitasking cream. Infused with key anti-aging ingredients like Vitamin E, Jojoba, Aloe, and Cucumber to hydrate and nourish the skin. The smoothing formula minimizes fine lines and provides a natural tint of color for seamless coverage.

It has a more sunscreen type scent than the gorgeous lemony scent of the CC cream. If I apply it with my fingers it can be a little streaky, but applied with a damp sponge it applies smoothly with a light coverage.

elf3elf5

Shade-wise, it blends well with my skintone, and looks very natural. If you need a medium or full-coverage, then this is not for you unless you plan on using it as a primer only. It is hydrating, but if you have oily skin, it might be a little bit much – I had some oiliness issues on my nose while wearing this on a super hot day. Nothing that a blotting paper or powder touch-up can’t handle.

Up next is the e.l.f. Studio High Definition Lifting Concealer in shade Fair.

elf7

In the tube and on the skin it looks really dark to me until I blend it into the skin.

elf8

This high definition, skin firming concealer hides imperfections and regenerates the skin for added radiance. Minimizes fine lines and helps even skin tone for a youthful look. The formula is infused with key ingredients Vitamin C, Green Tea and Mulberry for lifting and soothing benefits, and to help improve skin texture.

elf9

I don’t know if it actually firms the skin or not, but it seems to work well at concealing fine lines, redness / blemishes, and uneven skin tone on me.

And finally we have the e.l.f. Studio High Definition Undereye Setting Powder.

elf6

This light-diffusing powder camouflages fine lines, dark circles and imperfections, perfect for on camera or everyday wear. The silky powder adds a velvety finish ideal for wearing alone or setting in cream concealer. The Vitamin C & K infused formula helps to restore and strengthen skin for a revitalized appearance.

I’m kind of on the fence about this one. I’ve tried it alone, over the BB Cream, over my Nyx Dark Circle Concealer (review here), and over the HD Lifting concealer. I’ve applied it with the tiny brush that it came with (brush is not delicate under eye skin friendly), a concealer brush, a larger powder brush and with my fingers. Some days I find I can get it applied without creasing, but other days, eesh, holy creasing batman! Maybe with practise I’ll be able to figure out the right combination. I’m not giving up on this one yet.

Milani Baked Blush Berry Amore Review and Comparison

Continuing on with reviewing the products form my recent mini-hauls (previous posts here, and here), today I’m reviewing the Baked Blush in Berry Amore from Milani Cosmetics. I’ve recently fallen in love with Milani’s blushes, and I’ve already reviewed Rose D’Oro (here) and Luminoso (here).

Milani BB Berry Amore2

Berry Amore is described as a berry rose with gold shimmer.

Milani BB Berry Amore3

On me, it looks a LOT like Rose D’oro at first glance as it casts a golden pinky tone on my skin.

Milani BB Berry Amore5

The blush itself is highly pigmented, finely milled, and is highly buildable in its application. The quality is very high despite the reasonable price (when compared to a lot of the high end blushes).

So, how does Berry Amore compare to both Rose D’oro and Luminoso on my skin? Let me show you, and you can decide if you need all three blushes. Side by side product comparison shows some similarities:

Milani BB 1

The next couple of photos are all the same swatches, all taken in natural light (diffused through window sheers), closer and farther from the window to try to capture how it looks on my skin.

Milani BB 2

Milani BB 3

Milani BB 4

While they are similar, I feel that there is enough of a difference that I’m glad that I own all three. I think that I will buy Dolce Pink and Vino Red next, since I would like to experiment a little more with different blush colours.

What do you think? Do you own any or all of these blushes?

Milani Color Statement Lipsticks in Sangria and Nude Créme

Today I’m going to be reviewing the Milani Color Statement Lipsticks in Sangria and Nude Créme from my mini haul from well.ca (original post here). Despite the fact that it is still fairly hot here in Montreal, I wanted to start getting ready for autumn by purchasing a dark berry and a pinky nude shade to try out.

A super-luxe, grown-up girl lipstick, it delivers true instant colour in a single swipe. Laced with vitamins A and C to hydrate and nourish, this collection is all about options: Corals and Reds, Orchids and Plums, Nudes, and Pinks. Trust us, you’ll want an entire wardrobe.

Milani Lipstick3

First up, we have Sangria, described as deep, purple berry. On me is is more pinky red toned berry than purple, it might cast more purple toned on other skin tones. Next we have Nude Créme, described as a pink nude. On me, it is exactly that, a pale pink toned nude.

Milani Lipstick4

Both lipsticks have great pigmentation, are long wearing, and very moisturizing. The Nude Créme has the fruity scent that all of the Milani Color Statement Lipsticks seem to have, but Sangria has a very faint playdough scent that comes through the fruity scent – probably a sign that the lipstick might be starting to go off. I got someone else to smell it and they were unable to catch the faint “off scent”, but I have a very sensitive nose, so yeah, that kind of sucks a little. Thankfully the scent wears off.

Milani Lipstick5

Verdict: Both shades are perfect for fall. And I love that they are long wearing and highly moisturizing. I will be buying more of these lipsticks.

Disclosure: I purchased these products.

Lush’s Rose Jam Bubbleroon Review

Happy Wednesday!

Continuing on with my reviews from my Lush mini haul (here). On Monday I reviewed the Rose Queen Bath Bomb (here). Today I’m reviewing the Rose Jam Bubbleroon.

Lush Rose Jam1

So what is a Bubbleroon?

The Bubbleroon is our newest style of Bubble Bar inspired by delicious, handmade macaroons. Rose Jam is based on a decadent traditional Turkish recipe for rose jam that our Turkish rose absolute supplier shares with us every year, and is made with our sophisticated new rose perfume. Rose oil and rose absolute not only smell amazing but they are also fantastic for soothing dry, sensitive skin. The rosy fragrance paired with the coconut oil “icing” that sticks the two halves of this Bubbleroon together make for a majorly moisturizing, softening and luxurious soak.

IMG_2763

I love love love rose scented bath and body products and this one does not disappoint! The scent is nicer than the Rose Queen Bath Bomb in my opinion. The scent is really close to the Turkish Delight Shower Smoothie and Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner. And as an added plus for me, no floaty petals and twigs! My bath was filled with loads of pale pink bubbles, and my skin was beautifully moisturized. It also left a faint rose scent on my skin which I LOVE. (Please note: The photo doesn’t really capture the soft pink colour of the bubbles as the lighting over my bathtub is not the best)

Rose Jam4

Verdict: I LOVE IT! I will definitely buy the Rose Jam Bubbleroon again!

Disclosure: The mini haul was partially paid for by me, and partially by a gift card given to me by a friend.
