Hello, hello!
Reporting in with my progress for the Project Focus 10 collab that I’m doing with Ingrid from Curly Sping Blossom, Stashy from Stash Matters, and Joy from Styled with Joy. Here’s the lowdown on the Project Focus 10 collab:
10 different products that have been forgotten or neglected, or that we just want to use up, that have not been reviewed on our blogs before (but are still on the market). Over the course of 10 weeks we will make an effort to try to use them, and review one of the products weekly (every Monday), and update on our progress on each of the 10 products over the 10 week period.
Here’s my review of the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Perfecting Primer. On the back of the tube it says:
Face primer evens complexion, fills in lines and wrinkles. Silky smooth primer creates a flawless canvas for even makeup application while extending the wear of makeup. Apply with fingertips onto the face and gently blend into skin. Let it set and follow with makeup.
My experience: This primer is a whitish gel type formulation and it goes on silky and smooth. But I found that my foundation applied a streaky in places over the primer (and normally it applies without streaking). It made my skin look like it had dry patches in places where I did not. Within a few hours of applying this primer and makeup my skin started to feel a little itchy and irritated in places, so I washed it off because it felt like the start of a reaction. What I had originally thought were the start of an allergic reaction (red welts), rapidily turned into several painful pimples across my chin, and one on my cheek near my nose! I rarely get breakouts, so this really not good! I don’t think that I want to risk using this primer and having the same thing happen again! This is not the product for me and my weirdly sensitive (and sometimes allergic) skin.
Make-up:
1. Essence Lash Mania Mascara – used once
2. Urban Decay Naked 3 palette – used several times (at least four times, maybe five)
3. Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer – used twice
Make-up Tools:
4. Georgie Beauty False Lashes and Adhesive – did not use
5. Wayne Goss Brush 01 (Foundation Brush) – did not use
Haircare and Bodycare:
6. Not Your Mother’s Way to Grow Long and Strong Shampoo – used twice
7. Not Your Mother’s Way to Grow Long and Strong Conditioner – used twice
8. Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream – used daily
9. Living Proof Prime Style Extender – used twice
So I think that I made mostly good start to Project Focus 10, except for the skin reaction to the primer, and not using either of the make-up tool items even once. I’ll be back with the new review and update on my progress with the Project Focus 10 collab on Monday, February 1st (not counting my regular posts on Wednesday and Friday). Don’t forget to check out my fellow collaborators’ posts:
Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤
Disclosure: I purchased all of these things. My review is based on my experience of using the product.
Oh no! That sucks that you got a terrible reaction. I guess it’s time to throw it out.

Yeah, I’m not willing to risk using it again.

I would go back to Walmart and return it ASAP !!! Even if you don’t have the receipt, I would still tell them about this awful reaction !!! I won’t be trying this primer anytime soon 😦 It sucks big time. xo’s

Too late, I think Mr. Al pitched it into the trash so I wouldn’t ever risk using it again!

A least you shared your experience !!!

Too bad this primer didn’t work for you. I haven’t been too drawn to Hard Candy products – just worried about the quality of the ingredients especial liquid / cream products.
I like how you list all the Project Focus 10 and how often you used it. 🙂

I have now tried two Hard Candy products – and both of them were disappointing – remember I was telling you about the separated and runny Glamoflage concealer? Yuck. Not for me.
In my blogging notebook, I have the list (per week) and I have notes on each product if I’m liking it or not, and how often I’ve used it to try to keep everything somewhat organized.

Yeah that Glamoflage concealer was a real disappointment! So much hype for that item too.
I should track things in a physical notebook… I do everything on spreadsheets. 😛

That is such a shame that you had a reaction to the product but at least it’s one less in the collection! Do you have a ‘go-to’ primer? I think as far as drug store products go, mine would be the Maybelline Dream Smooth Primer.

I don’t have a go-to primer yet. I’m not trying any new ones for a little while – at least until my poor face recovers!

I can’t blame you 😦 I hope that it clears up quickly xx

Thankfully the worst seems to be over, so now I just have to baby my skin until it gets back to normal.

Eek! Breakouts are not good! 😦

It really sucks! Normally if I’m going to react to a product, I get itchy, red, or feel a burning sensation. I’ve never had my skin react like this before!

Argh, how horrible! Well, I guess at least it was not an expensive product. Hope your skin gets better ASAP!

Sorry to hear that primer didn’t work for you and how are you feeling now after the breakouts? I hope you are much better now. Well, some of the other products from your list looks interesting and in particularly lemon butter cuticle cream from Burt’s bees

My skin is still recovering, so I’m not testing anything new until it is fully healed up and calm.
The Burt’s Bees cuticle cream is so good, I’ve been really good at using it daily. 🙂

That’s horrible! Don’t use it again.

It has already been trashed, for fear of accidentally using it again!

Ooh honey!! I feel so bad that the primer didn’t work well for you!! I hope you’ve done something about that horrid primer!! 😢😢

It sucks! I’ve already gotten rid of the primer so I won’t forget and use it accidentally. I’m babying my skin this week to make sure that it will recover as quickly as possible!

Hard Candy seems to be hit & miss, with more misses than hits. Am I the only one who remembers when they were a high end brand? I remember in the 90s seeing their nail polishes in high end department stores.

I do remember the nail polishes!

I also remember in the late 90s the band Duran Duran was collaborating with Hard Candy to create a nail polish called Electric Barbarella (a song of theirs at the time, plus they got their name from the movie Barbarella), but it fell through and the polish was never released.

Now that song is in my mind, haha!

Oh my that’s not good! I’m glad you washed it off. I remember that same reaction happened to me too but with one of the hourglass primers

Yikes! I can’t imagine how much worse the reaction would have been had I not washed it off!

So sorry to hear this caused a reaction, never fun when makeup does that 😦 I’m sure there’s someone you could gift it to who would appreciate it.

I would give it away, but Mr. Al already pitched it so I wouldn’t use it accidentally and have another reaction!

Although rubbish about the reaction 😐

Yeah, it sucks! But thankfully I washed it off before it took over my entire face! Eep!

Here I am, testing this to see if it works! 🙂

Love the idea of the series, can’t wait to read all of these 🙂

Man that all sounds like the opposite of what one would want in a primer. Plus a reaction?! No bueno. Good to know though since I’ve been eyeing this primer.

It might work for you – I have crazy sensitive skin! Like hella crazy sensitive.

It might but I don’t think I’ll risk it. So far you haven’t led me astray when it comes to skin recommendations! 🙂

Oh no, this sounds awful. Throw away!

Has your skin returned to normal now? Those irritations can take forever to clear.

It is nearly back to normal, thank goodness!

Oh good. it can just take forever after it has been irritated
