Yes, I was actually brave enough to try another primer after my horrific reaction to the last one (link is here if you want to read about it). I decided to try the Wonderblur Primer from The Body Shop.
Here’s what it says on the Body Shop’s Canadian website:

My experience: When I first squeezed a little bit of the primer out of the tube to do a patch test on my arm, and then on my neck (a crucial step after my recent skin reaction to the other primer), I really thought that this was going to be a dud and prone to terrible pilling. But once you rub it into the skin, it kind of “melts” and applies smoothly.
I’ve tried this primer with my Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, and with just concealer and finishing powder. It works well both ways to smooth the skin without drying it out. It doesn’t make my skin feel like it can’t breathe. And most importantly, my skin did not freak out when I used the Wonderblur Primer. Such a difference compared to my previous horrible experience!

I know! I was really nervous at first, but thankfully I’ve gone back to testing everything on my arm, then my neck before putting anything near my face to hopefully prevent another terrible reaction from happening!

What skin type would you say the primers best for? X

My skin is dry right now (still mega cold here), but I think it would work for all skin types since it is supposed to be both hydrating and mattifying.

Funny, from the swatch, it WOULD look like something that would pill but glad to hear it didn’t.
Hmm I don’t have a HG primer per se. I currently really love Illamasqua Hydra Veil just because it’s so good for the dry air. But I also like Shiseido’s primer. And also Laura Mercier’s. 🙂

No, sadly they stopped carrying it. It’s online only now. Boo! 😦 The Bay’s official name is now snooty “Hudson’s Bay” 🙄

I’m happy this worked out for you! I’ve never tried this but it looks like a generous amount of product. My usual go-to primer is CoverFx, I like how it leaves my skin feeling hydrated.

I’m so happy that my skin didn’t freak out this time! But I was super careful and did two patch tests before putting it on my face.

I got a sample of this and I never got as far as trying it because the consistency was so unusual. It finally dried up and we parted. 🤔 did I miss a winner?

Did it move around when you applied your foundation? Because the Maybelline one does that…

It didn’t for me. I apply it then wait a minute or two to let it sink in before applying foundation.

It comes out so weird until the heat of your hands “melts” it. But it seems to be working so well with my skin!
