Hello, hello!
Today I’m reviewing the Grapeseed Glossing Serum from The Body Shop that I picked up during a recent haul.
Here’s what is says on the website:
A glossing serum that adds great gloss and shine to the hair. It also helps to moisturize the hair and is easily washed out. Suitable for dull/frizzy hair.
Here’s the list of ingredients:
Cyclomethicone, Dimethiconol, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Buxus Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Limonene, Fragrance, Linalool, Citral, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Geraniol, Citronellol, Eugenol, Isoeugenol.
My experience: I’ve been using the Grapeseed Glossing Serum for a few weeks now because the cold weather has been making my hair prone to being a little drier and frizzier (and due to hat wearing, often staticky). The product is a clear serum, with that not quite a liquid but not quite a gel texture that I find most serums to be. It does make my hair dark hair glossy, keep the ends moisturized, and helps tame the winter frizz / static that I’ve been experiencing lately.
As with most serums and hair oils, I would recommend keeping it away from your roots and scalp, otherwise you might end up looking a little greasy. The serum does have a scent. I can pick out the mild grapeseed scent as well as something that I can’t quite identify, but it doesn’t bother me, and it fades quickly enough (if scents bother you).
The Grapeseed Glossing Serum is on sale on the Canadian Body Shop website for $5 (regularly $12) for 75ml / 2.5 fl oz.
I’m looking forward to testing this serum out more when the weather gets warmer to see how my hair likes it in humid conditions. If I have any of the serum left by then, or if it is still available to repurchase, I’ll revisit this post and give a warm weather review.
Have you tried this hair serum? If not, what serums have you used?
Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤
Disclosure: I purchased this!
Never even heard of this product from the Body Shop. I’ve not had great experiences with their hair care in general – I find they to be overly fragranced and too heavy for my hair. This serum (HAIR serum – what a time to be alive!) does sound good though… I’ve been using a light hair oil lately for my ends which has been helping but I have to really careful or else it weighs down my hair.

My hair is thick and prone to epic ginormousness, so unless I accidentally get it too close to my roots, it helps tame the beast, haha!
I also have an awesome hair oil from Haus of Gloi that I love, but I wanted to try something new (and for $5, I was willing to take a chance on it).

I haven’t tried this product but I have tried one from VO5 and it works great on my hair. I know harsh winter conditions takes its own toll and it is great to supplement your hair with hair serum

My hair needs extra moisture in the winter time, so anything that keeps my hair healthy is needed! I haven’t tried the VO5 one, glad that you have one that works for your gorgeous hair!

Interesting. Although I don’t like stuff that makes your hair super oily either as my hair gets oily within 24 hrs and have to use dry shampoo! 😖 I’m still looking for something that will keep my hair moisturized and tame the frizz. Looking forward to more thoughts you may have on this 😄

This sounds nice! I always apply too much and end up looking like a grease ball but I think now that my hair is longer I might do a better job of keeping it from the roots. The scent sounds nice too.

Haha, when my hair was shorter I always did the same thing!

I haven’t seen or heard of this product before. I’ve never tried any sort of serum on my hair, there are so many different products out there I get confused lol 😛

I know, there are so many different types of hair products – or as I call them – hair goop – that it gets pretty confusing!

I should give The Body Shop a second look when it comes to their haircare & skincare line. I always just buy some body stuff 😦
My hair is so dry that it would benefit from this oil !!! Worth trying for 5$ 😀

That is why I took a chance – 5 is not a big deal if I don’t like it! But luckily I do like it. 😊

Haven’t seen this in the bodyshop yet but it sounds intriguing. Won’t work on my hair, but it sounds like a lifesaver for drier or frizzy hair.

It is great for the cold weather for me, but I’d like to test it in warm or hot weather to see how my hair reacts. 😊
