Hello, hello!
I purchased two deodorants from Herban Cowboy a few weeks ago for myself and the Mr. to test out. We’ve both made the switch from anti-perspirants to deodorants about two years ago, and wanted to try some new ones.
Herban Cowboy deodorants are free of propylene glycol, triclosan, and aluminum. They are vegan and cruelty-free and are supposed to be long lasting.
I picked out the Herban Cowboy for Her, Maximum Protection Deodorant in Love for me, and for the Mr. I got Herban Cowboy Maximum Protection Deodorant in Dusk.
Here’s the ingredient list for Love:
Ingredients: Propanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Aqua, Sodium Stearate, Glycerin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Allantoin, Bisabolol, Mineral Salts, Fragrance
Love has a mild, pleasant, slightly herbal scent, with a faint musk undertone. And Dusk has a generic slightly stronger “manly deodorant” scent.
Neither of us experienced any skin sensitivity or irritation while using them.
Both of us had very similar experiences with using the deodorants. They worked well. Until they didn’t. It works great, and then BAM! It doesn’t work and both of us found that when it stops working, it REALLY stops working, worse than if we had skipped wearing deodorant that day.
If I know that I am going to have a long day, I bring it with me to touch up, since it seems to break down and stop working after anywhere from 6 to 8 hours, depending on activity level.
Because everyone has different body chemistry, you might try this deodorant and it will work amazingly well. Or you might have a similar experience. The only way to know, is to take a chance and try it out.
This is my second blog post about natural deodorants. For the original post, and talk about the underarm detox process that happens after switching from anti-perspirant to deodorant click the link to check it out.
Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤
Also – I went for my first run of the season this morning! It felt great to ease my way back into running, and my knees did not bother me at all! My endurance is not great, but it is always like that when I first start running again each year.
Dislosure: I purchased these things!
I personally don’t use deodorants but it’s always nice to have options available incase I decide to buy one sometime 😘

So weird when products just suddenly stop working like that. I wonder why that is?
Good for you on the running! 🙂

I have no idea, but it happened to Al too, so it isn’t just my weirdo body chemistry.
So happy that my knees cooperated!

Have you tried the Lush ones by any chance? I was thinking of getting them but don’t want to waste my money

How weird that they stopped working! I was actualy eyeing these a while ago when I saw them pop up at Well, and almost bought one. You should try contacting the company to let them know it didn’t work so great.

They might work great for you. That’s the thing with the natural deodorants – they work differently depending on body chemistry / ph levels etc.

Very true, many seem to use different ingredients.

The ones with baking soda work the best but they are the ones that can cause irritation if you have sensitive skin like I do.

Ah, good to know. I’ve only had a bad reaction to a deodorant once, and it was one of the aluminum-based ones (SpeedStick).

I struggled with this so much when I got off of anti-perspirants. No store bought deodorant ever worked for me so I started making my own and I haven’t looked back since!

Nice, do you use a coconut oil base?

I have a recipe on my blog that is what I use to make mine. Feel free to search “deodorant” on my page if you’d like to check it out. You probably have the ingredients in your kitchen already🙂
