Tom’s of Maine Long Lasting Deodorant in Soothing Calendula

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Long Lasting Deodorant from Tom’s of Maine in the Soothing Calendula scent.

Just a few points to remember from my previous deodorant reviews – 1. Every one’s body chemistry is different, what works for me might not work for you (and vice versa), 2. If you are new to switching from anti-perspirant to deodorant, there is a detox period (I wrote about this process previously, check it out here), and 3. I have sensitive skin, and certain ingredients can trigger skin irritation.

Here’s a little info about the product from the website:

Clinically proven 24-hour odor protection. Dermatologist tested. Tom’s of Maine Long Lasting deodorant sticks provide clinically proven 24-hour odor protection to help keep you feeling fresh throughout the day! This effective long-lasting, aluminum-free deodorant stick contains the botanical ingredient hops to inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria. The Soothing Calendula stick contains 100% natural fragrance to help keep you feeling confidently fresh all day!

Let’s take a peek at the ingredient list:

Propylene glycol, water, sodium stearate, aloa vera leaf juice (organic), glyceryl laurate, natural fragrance, hops [CO2] extract, sunflower seed oil (organic), ascorbic acid, lemongrass oil (organic)

My Experience:

I tested out this deodorant for a full week. The week that I wear-tested the Tom’s of Maine Long Lasting Deodorant was super hot and humid, so I knew that I would definitely be putting this product through a tough test.

First off, this deodorant stick is gentle on the underarms, and applies easily. I did not experience any skin irritation with this one. The scent is mild and pleasant. I can’t say that it lasted 24 hours on me, but it lasted fairly well, anywhere from 10 to 12 hours most days, and on the hottest and most active day, I’d say that it lasted about 8 hours. On me, this deodorant gradually stops working (giving you time to “touch up” before getting smelly), not like the Herban Cowboy one that abruptly stopped working and wentΒ from smelling great to dumpster stench on both myself and the Mr. (review is here).

Overall, this one works pretty well on me. If you’ve made the switch from antiperspirants to deodorants, how was your experience? Which one do you use?

Both myself and the Mr. have been testing out yet another brand of deodorant this past week (another super hot and humid week). Next week I’ll be posting my review with both of our experiences.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❀

Disclosure: I purchased this!

  1. What, I’ve never read your original post on your antiperspirant to deodorant switch! So similar to what I went through! Thanks for the link to that Pit Detox Protocol.
I’ve heard mixed reviews of Tom’s of Maine so I may eventually try it. I’ve just been really enjoying the Lavanila. It’s a high of 35C and feels like 45C today. UGH. Save me!

      1. Duh I read it before. I just realized when I reread it DUH. I just didn’t remember that Primal Pit site! *smacks head* I’m still drinking my morning coffee…

  2. I’m definitely going to have to try this when I run out of my current one. Secret Outlast gel has been working for me for awhile, but I feel like you have to change it up to keep your body from getting used to it. Am I the only one who thinks this way?
