Today I’m swatching and reviewing the last of my liquid lipsticks from most recent ColourPop haul – the Ultra Metallic Lip in Kween.
One shade to rule them all, a burnt red with tons of gold glitter in a Metallic finish
Colour-wise this one is absolutely stunning and perfect for fall.
I have to say that I’m disappointed in the formulation of this one. It is nowhere near as creamy and comfortable as the other Ultra Metallic Lip that I’ve tested (Man Eater). This one also applies patchy if you aren’t careful in application.
The below photo shows the difference between two different swatch attempts – the top swatch took a lot more work than the bottom one which is just a quick swipe.
Maybe I got a bad batch, I don’t know. But for $6 (USD), I will still try more from ColourPop. If this was a $40 lipstick I’d be really upset, but for the price, I’m willing to gamble on an occasional dud since all of the other liquid lipsticks that I’ve tried were great!

My other one (man eater) is so great, but this one just isn’t good, which sucks because I love the colour!

oh that´s so bad! i got colourpop too! i have three shades for the moment but i am waiting for a couple more in October so i am going to wait to prepare a post 🙂

I think they poured too much glitter into this… just my non-professional opinion. Too bad, the colour is pretty. Like you said, not terrible for a $6 item. I guess you could mix it with a more emollient gloss / balm product?

Probably way too much mica. I have been wearing it with lip balm to make it more comfortable.

I’m just going to wear it with lip balm. For the price I’m not too upset. All my other ones are great, so that is pretty good!

Yeah I’ve seen lots of bloggers and youtubers say good things about their other ones like the mattes, it sucks that this one lets them down!

I pick companies based on research and reading reviews. I try to choose a range from indie, drugstore, and high end. As for what I’m reviewing next brand-wise, I have several reviews lined up at the moment. 😊

That is a pretty shade. Too bad it’s kinda bad because it’s totally perfect for fall. I’m not sure I could rock metallic shades though lol.
