Maui Moisture Launch at Hotel William Gray, Old Montreal

Hello, hello! Today’s blog post is going to be a long one!

Yesterday I attended the breakfast launch for the Maui Moisture haircare line at the gorgeous Hotel William Gray in Old Montreal. Their tagline is Feel good about looking beautiful / Se sentir bien d’être en beauté.

Maui Moisture

We were greeted by the PR team, and were treated to a breakfast buffet, with fresh juice or coconut water from Greenhouse Juice Co. I had the Wake Up Juice which is a blend of grapefruit, orange, lemon and cayenne. It was really good!

Look at the beautiful table setting:

At each seat there was an empty glass terrarium that we were able to make and take home from the Crown Flora Studio. This was a really beautiful idea, I loved that we got to customize our terrariums!

Maui Moisture

We could choose which gravel to use (various colours and textures), mosses, driftwood, stones, and little plastic figures (some of which included dinosaurs!), as well as different air plants. Here’s the one that I made:

After we made our terrariums, we were introduced to the Maui Moisture brand and the different ranges. Maui Moisture is a

refreshing and reparative hair care line developed with exotic botanicals and plant essences found on the tropical islands. This new collection, comprised of handcrafted shampoos, conditioners and hair treatments, is the first in the marketplace to use pure aloe juice as the first ingredient, replacing deionized, chemically treated water, and infuse all formulas with pure coconut water. Using aloe juice as its base, each Maui Moisture product is super rich in minerals, electrolytes and vitamins. The result is a deeply nourishing and restorative hair treatment from root to tip for hair that’s soft, shiny, healthy, and strong.

Maui Moisture is responsibly sourced, vegan and made with eco-friendly materials. The products do not contain any parabens, phthalates, sulfate surfactants, colorants, petrolatum, silicones, gluten or mineral oils.

And their stance on animal testing:

MAUI MOISTURE® products are NOT tested on animals. MAUI MOISTURE® does not initiate animal tests on either finished products or ingredients whether directly or indirectly. All ingredients used are carefully monitored. All suppliers are requested to confirm that their materials have not been tested on animals. Ingredients which do not have this data supplied for them are not used in any products. MAUI MOISTURE® is against the suffering endured by animals when ingredients and products are tested. We support suppliers and organizations that are developing alternative methods of testing without using animals.

There are five different ranges that will be available in Canada:

Maui Moisture

Maui Moisture Coconut Milk – Nourish & Moisture (normal to dry) with coconut milk, guava oil and mango butter, available in shampoo, conditioner and oil mist.

Maui Moisture

Maui Moisture Shea Butter – Heal & Hydrate (dry, damaged, over-processed) with shea butter, coconut oil, and macadamia oil, available in shampoo, conditioner and hair mask.

maui-moisture7

Maui Moisture Agave Nectar – Strength & Anti-Breakage (chemically treated) with agave nectar extract, hibiscus oil and pineapple oil extract, available in shampoo,, conditioner, and hair mask.

Maui Moisture

Maui Moisture Coconut Oil – Curl Quench (thick, curly hair) with coconut oil, papaya butter and plumeria extract, available in shampoo, conditioner and curl smoothie.

Maui Moisture

Maui Moisture Bamboo Fibers – Thicken & Restore (fine hair) with bamboo fibers, castor oil and neem oil, available in shampoo, conditioner and blowout mist.

The Canadian release for January 2017, and the products will retail for $10.99 at local drugstores and other retailers across Canada. The line is currently available in the United States at Ulta.

Maui Moisture

We each got a little box that contained our choice of a shampoo and conditioner from either the Bamboo Fiber or the Coconut Milk ranges, as well as a fresh juice (this time I got Deep Roots – beet, carrot, apple, celery and lemon) and a coconut water.

Because my hair is already voluminous, I chose the Coconut Milk set as this would work for my hair type which needs hydration and shine. It does not smell like coconut to me! *As some of you might recall, I have an aversion to coconut scents* I think that the guava oil and mango butter make the scent work for my nose!

Maui Moisture

I can’t wait to try this shampoo and conditioner out! Full review to follow once I’ve had a chance to test them out long enough to have a solid opinion on them.

Maui Moisture

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

  1. I freaking love terrariums. I kill everything inside though. 😦 I hope yours live a long life!
As soon as I read “Maui Moisture” I thought, uh oh, Jodi hates coconut! 😛 Glad it doesn’t smell like coconut!

  2. This sounds really amazing! Pure coconut milk used to be my go-to when I was younger. Helps my hair feeling healthy and keeps them really dark too (I have black hair). I wouldn’t mind checking this out!
