Hello, hello!
Today I’m swatching and reviewing the Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow in shade 16 Bella Champagne (shimmering champagne pink) that my mother gave to me on our recent mini vacation because she thought it was too shimmery for her.
Here’s what it says on the Milani website:
Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow glides on in a single stroke, delivering a multidimensional finish. The formula starts as a gel and transforms into a stunning powder eyeshadow once applied. Use dry for a beautiful wash of color or wet for a more vivid look.
When I read the description, it seemed to me that these eyeshadows would have a bouncy texture, similar to that of the ones from ColourPop. Instead it just feels like a silky smooth, finely milled shadow – which surprises me, because shimmery shades are not always super smooth.
As for the colour description being a shimmering champagne pink, I would have to disagree somewhat, it is a shimmering champagne, but it doesn’t read pink on my skin at all unless I apply it heavily or wet.
This shadow works well as an eye highlight or as a topper, but there are other shadows out there that work better for a metallic look. I like it, but I don’t LOVE it.
Have you tried any of the Bella Eyes Shadows from Milani? What did you think of them?
Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! β€

Looks prettier in the pan then it translates to the skin, would be an inner corner highlight for me but nothing much else! Even wet (far right?) doesn’t pack much of a punch!

I know! Kind of disappointed, but at least I know that it will have some use!

It’s so pretty! I actually love all their eyeshadow and blush. Recently I tried essence eyeshadows and they are fabulous.

I haven’t tried any of the essence eye shadows yet!

The colour is very pretty, but I would probably use it as a highlighter instead as well

I’d like to try other shades to see if the colour payoff is better. π

Try Chiffon or Bronze. The former can be used as a face highlight even.

I’ve never tried any eyeshadow topper but I love the idea. It’s a great way to use a less pigmented shadow– thanks for the inspo!

I spent the whole post convinced this was a face highlighter lol! The shade is so pretty, it’s a shame it doesn’t translate as well on the eyes.

It will make a great highlighter!

I thought I would love these but when I swatched them the colour pay-off was really low so passed on them. Plus, they cost $12 each here! I can buy a MAC refill for $8.

Ooh this would be perfect for the inner corner of the eyes.. It really makes the eye colour pop! xx

Yeah, that is probably the only way that I’ll end up using it!

I’d use this eyeshadow as a highlight for the inner corners.
Love the disclosure bit! I think it’s lovely that your mum gives you make-up! π

It just doesn’t have much colour payoff on the lid! But it is great as a highlight shade.

It works better as a highlighter than it does as a shadow!
