Hello, hello! This post was supposed to go up yesterday, oops!
Today I have a review of the Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG from my recent haul from The Ordinary. I ordered this eye serum after watching a YouTube review from Wayne Goss. All info in italics taken from their website:
This light-textured formula contains an extremely high 5% concentration of caffeine, supplemented with highly-purified Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (EGCG) from green tea leaves. Independent studies have shown that topical use of each of caffeine and EGCG can help reduce looks of puffiness and of dark circles in the eye contour. Additional studies have shown that caffeine can also reduce the appearance of cellulite.
I’ve had both dark circles from insomnia AND puffy eyes from allergies recently so I was willing to try anything to try to help deal with my zombie eye problem. It definitely reduces my eye puffiness. And I’ve found that it helps to minimize, but not fully eliminate my dark circles – but I highly doubt that there is anything that could fully eliminate them other than several weeks of awesome sleep!
A word of warning though, do not get this serum into your eyes while applying! It really stings!
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Caffeine, Propanediol, Maltodextrin, Glycerin, Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside, Gallyl Glucoside, Hyaluronic Acid, Oxidized Glutathione, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Polypodium Vulgare Rhizome Extract, Cetraria Islandica Thallus Extract, Sphagnum Magellanicum Extract, Urea, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Xanthan gum, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Propyl Gallate, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Ethoxydiglycol, Benzyl Alcohol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol.
This serum is cruelty-free and vegan, and only costs $6.70 CAD! Most eye creams or serums cost way more than that!
Have you tried this? What do you use for dark circles and puffiness?
Disclosure: I purchased this!
Sadly, it’s not possible to eliminate dark circles! Only to cover them or lessen the appearance only temporarily. I wish there was a magical potion! 😛 Mine are hereditary and also due to allergies.
I’ll probably pass on this – why would a product that’s meant for around the eyes sting! 😮

It only stings if you get it in your eyes, it doesn’t sting around the eyes.
This stuff works for puffiness for me – I managed to look human during the worst of my allergies!

My puffiness from allergies was way worse than my insomnia dark circles, So just having the puffiness calmed down was good!

The only way to eliminate dark circles is through some surgical procedure. I can’t remember what it’s called. But I’ve read about it and heard some youtubers mention it. Sounds painful and scary to me. I’ll just stick with a corrector.
