Milani The Multitasker Face Powder Review

Hello, hello!

Milani The Multitasker Face Powder

Today I have a review of The Multitasker Face Powder from Milani Cosmetics. I purchased this recently when I was in Nova Scotia visiting my parents earlier this month. I’ve never see Milani at pharmacies here in Montreal, so whenever I’m in NS, I always look for Milani – plus it happened to be on sale! (Info in italics is taken from the Milani website)

Milani The Multitasker Face Powder

This matte, oil-free powder performs as a foundation, a shine-zapping touch-up and even a highlighter and bronzer—depending on the shade. An instant addiction for anyone on-the-go, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Milani The Multitasker Face Powder

I’ve been using this face powder as a setting powder and for touch-ups during the day. It is matte, but I use it over my more dewy finish foundations to achieve a not quite dewy, not quite matte, finish. Hopefully that makes sense. I don’t like a super, flat, matte finish for my skin, but I think that it would achieve that if used over a matte finish foundation if that is your preference.

Milani FP5

The Multitasker Face Powder is currently listed as being available in six different shades – 02 Light Medium,, 03 Medium, 04 Light Tan, 05 Tan, 06 Medium Tan, and 07 Dark Tan. I have shade 02 Light Medium, which is a perfect shade match for me.

Milani The Multitasker Face Powder

The compact is metallic looking plastic on the outside and cheap plastic looking on the inside – but it is a sturdy casing. On the inside there is mirror, and a small velvet pad application in the compartment under the powder. I rarely ever use the pad that comes with as I prefer to use a brush for applying powder, but kept it for touch-ups.

All in all, I like this face powder.

Have you tried this one? What is your fave face powder?

Disclosure: I purchased this.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Mini Lipstick in Verbena

Hello, hello!

In my last Sephora mini-haul I had a promo code to get a mini lipstick from Bite Beauty in the shade Verbena – a rose terracotta. I’ve reviewed two of the full size Amuse Bouche Lipsticks previously in the shades Pepper and Rhubarb. Info in italics taken from the Sephora website:

Bite Beauty Verbena
Swipe on bold, creamy lip color with Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche. Created and crafted by hand, Bite’s small batch, low-heat process preserves a balanced blend of lip-quenching nutrients, vitamins, and omega oils that are essential for achieving healthy-looking lips. Made with 12 edible oils and triple milled pigments, this lipstick provides saturated lip color with weightless coverage and a citrus flavor made from fresh pressed fruit.

Bite Verbena2

I think that the Amuse Bouche Lipsticks might be the most lip friendly moisturizing lipsticks that I’ve ever tried. SO in love with the formulation!

Bite Verbena3

The shade Verbena falls somewhere in between Pepper (dusty rose) and Rhubarb (rich plum rose).  I’ve been wearing it loads since I got it last month!

I’ve swatched all three for comparison (with Verbena in the middle):

Bite Beauty Swatches Pepper, Verbena, Rhubarb

I will probably need to buy this one in the full sized version once I use it up!

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm from Farmacy Beauty. This one was on my wishlist for quite awhile. Info in italics is taken from the Sephora website:

Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm instantly melts into the skin, dissolving away makeup and pollution residue so even the boldest eye makeup and sunscreen applications are easily removed. It refines the skin’s surface for a younger looking complexion. Perfect for all skin types, Green Clean can be used even on dry and delicate complexions.

farmacy4

The balm features sunflower oil and ginger root oil to gently cleanse and nourish the skin for a glowing complexion. Extract of the Moringa tree, a native tree to India and Africa, helps to purify and refresh skin by removing impurities caused by pollution. Papaya extract acts as a natural exfoliator to help renew the look of the skin’s surface. An aromatic blend of lime, bergamot and orange essential oils revitalizes the look of skin. It features the unique patent-protected variant of Echinacea Purpurea, GreenEnvy™, which contains a high concentration of the phytochemical Cichoric Acid, a potent natural antioxidant that promotes an evenly toned complexion.

As with the Clear Bloom Cleansing Oil that I’ve previously reviewed (here), the packaging is an origami type box that unfolds to reveal information on the company:

Farmacy Green Clean

This light green cleansing balm is so gentle and it really does remove all makeup. It has a very mild fresh scent from the combination of ingredients and essential oils.

I love that it comes with a little spatula for scooping out the balm. My skin always glows when I use this one.

Have you tried this cleansing balm?

Ipsy Glam Bag Unboxing & First Impressions – Sept 2017

Hello, hello!

This month’s Ipsy Glam Bag arrived a little later than usual, but it was well worth the wait! This month’s theme was “Like A Boss”, and I love the bag design – black faux leather with its embossed stud pattern and bright blue lining. Info in italics taken from the Ipsy website.

Let’s take a look at what was inside:

Adesse New York Organic Infused Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Deception

  • This futuristic formula is super opaque, seriously shiny, and looks suspiciously like a gel.
  • Daunted by the DIY mani? Don’t be! The brush dispenses the perfect amount of polish on each nail, so it’s pretty much foolproof.
  • We’re not into playing faves, but this no-nonsense, steely gray shade comes pretty darn close.
  • This varnish is vegan, cruelty free, and totes non-toxic.

This is my second product from Adesse New York. I am so happy with this one, the shade is totally something that I would wear, and I don’t already have something similar. Plus it is cruelty free!

E Nature Birch Juice Hydro Sleeping Pack

Ipsy Glam Bag Sept 2017

  • SOKO GLAM COLLAB: Chosen for ipsters by boss babe/Soko Glam co-founder Charlotte Cho
  • Hard work can happen after hours, too. This boss formula takes the night shift, so you wake up with refreshed, hydrated skin.
  • It’s made with 74% birch juice (AKA birch tree sap) which helps quench your skin while you sleep.
  • Our friends at Soko Glam say: “After using it for the first time, I noticed my face felt very soft and looked beautiful and plumped in the morning.”

I’m looking forward to trying this cruelty free sleeping mask out. It barely has a scent – they only use natural fragrances, so it should not irritate my sensitive skin. Review to follow once I’ve tested it out.

LUXIE ROSE GOLD MEDIUM ANGLED SHADING EYE BRUSH 207

Ipsy Glam Bag Sept 2017

  • We wish we were as good at multitasking as this genius eye brush. Not only does the angled shape help you blend any eye look like a boss, but you can *also* use it for all your fave cream and powder shadows.
  • We’re suckers for anything rose gold, and the pretty handle on this guy looks amaaaazing on our vanity.
  • Have a brush with kindness! This fluffy, synthetic bristled beauty is 100% cruelty-free.

I love getting brushes in my Ipsy Glam Bag, especially ones from Luxie. It is super soft and cruelty free.

Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes The Shadow in Gunmetal

  • Streaks? Creases? #unsubscribe. This velvety baby blends like a dream.
  • Your eye look will be on lockdown. We tested it on an epic errands day and our smoky eye stayed put.
  • Gunmetal is a smoldery, steely gray that *also* looks rad as a liner.

This is a beautiful gunmetal – a shade that I will definitely wear. And it is cruelty free! My only complaint is that it is TINY.

ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Glam Bag

  • You voted, and here’s the winner! This exclusive matte shade was created in collab with our favorite peeps (ipsters like you).
  • The velvety formula is majorly pigmented, which means you get totally opaque, full-coverage color.
  • Even though it’s matte, it’s super comfy and non-drying thanks to moisturizing shea butter and Vitamin E.
Overall verdict:
Ipsy Glam Bag Sept 2017
Ipsy did a fantastic job this month! All five products are cruelty free, and all are products
that I will definitely use.
What did you get this month?

The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10% Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the last product from my recent mini-haul from Deciem / The Ordinary – the Argireline Solution 10%. (Information in italics is taken from the website)

Controlled studies have shown that Argireline improves the appearance of facial areas prone to developing dynamic folds, including around the eyes and in the forehead area.

Note: Studies have shown that the water content of formulations does impact the utility level of topical Argireline and specifically that higher water content results in better utility. This formulation is water-based and avoids oils, esters and silicones.

The Ordinary Argireline

First off, I have to say, this serum / solution is so watery! It is mega runny, so application can be a messy if you aren’t careful. I’ve been testing the Argireline Solution on my forehead, as I have some expression lines there (I think I’ve had them since I was a sullen teenager).

The Ordinary Argireline

Initially I did not notice any changes in the expression lines on my forehead. Now, after four weeks of use, I am just starting to see some improvement. Then again, for most anti-aging products, it often takes eight weeks of usage to see any results, so I will continue using the solution and update you all with my longer usage results.

As with the other products from the The Ordinary, it is  budget friendly at $7.90 CAD for 30ml.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing another product from my recent mini-haul from Deciem / The Ordinary – the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. (Information in italics is taken from the website)

Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF) are elements that keep the outer layer of the skin protected and well-hydrated. NMF are made up of multiple amino acids, fatty acids, triglycerides, urea, ceramides, phospholipids, glycerin, saccharides, sodium PCA, hyaluronic acid and many other compounds that are naturally present in the skin.

This formula offers non-greasy hydration that acts as a direct topical supplement of impaired NMF components. It contains 11 amino acids, phospholipids, alpha/beta/gamma fatty acids, triglycerides, sterols and sterol esters, glycerin, ceramide precursors, urea, saccharides, sodium PCA and hyaluronic acid. It offers immediate hydration and lasting results with continued use.

When I finished up my Hyaluronic Acid Serum from The Ordinary, I decided to try this moisturizer instead since it contains HA (as do many of the formulations from The Ordinary). It also contains all kinds of skin friendly hydration boosters.

Just to remind you, my skin is mostly normal, but gets dry in the colder months. This is a lightweight, yet super moisturizing / hydrating moisturizer. I find that my skin doesn’t dry out over the course of the day, but at the same time, it doesn’t make my skin feel greasy.  This is a great budget friendly moisturizer at $7.70 CAD.

The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing another product from my recent mini-haul from Deciem / The Ordinary – the Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%. (Info in italics is taken from their website)

Vitamin C is an effective antioxidant and its pure form of L-Ascorbic Acid has been shown to reverse multiple signs of skin ageing while brightening the skin when applied topically. This water-free, silicone-free formula provides 23% pure L-Ascorbic Acid which remains completely stable due to the absence of water. The system is supported with addition of dehydrated spheres of Hyaluronic Acid to offer visible surface smoothing alongside the benefits of Vitamin C. This treatment is ideally applied at bedtime.

This is a different Vitamin C formulation than I’m used to using, it is closer to a moisturizer in its viscosity and not a serum as I’ve used previously. There is some information about the formula below, with my comments in between:

Note: The format of this formula is a suspension of very fine L-Ascorbic Acid powder and, as such, provides the most direct exposure of extremely high concentrations of Vitamin C topically. With such format, there are 2 important things to consider:

1) A very strong tingling but non-irritating sensation is expected during the first 1-2 weeks of use until the skin’s tolerance to such high exposure is elevated. If the sensation is too strong to tolerate, the formula can be mixed on each application with other creams or serums of your preference.

As you all know I have sensitive skin, so I always expect some sort of tingling or stinging with certain types of products, and can distinguish between the safe level of tingling and the “my face is melting” type. I’ve been using this one every second night for about 3.5 weeks now and it still tingles when I use it, but within the safe range. Until my skin adapts, I won’t be using it every night. The tingle does fade quickly when I apply facial oil or moisturizer afterwards.

2) The powder exposure to the skin disallows the formula to feel like a serum, lotion or cream and each application requires a few seconds to feel absorbed by the skin. This formula feels gritty for a few seconds after application. If you prefer to avoid this gritty feel, we suggest our Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone.

Texture-wise, yes, it is gritty when first applied, but the gritty feeling goes away – thankfully.

My skin does well with Vitamin C based products, it makes my skin look so much brighter and smoother. Despite the tingle and grit factors, the Vitamin C Suspension is a great budget friendly product at $5.80 CAD. The Ordinary recently introduced a silicone formula version which is not supposed to be gritty, but I have not tried it. For a higher end Vitamin C product, I’d recommend the Perfect Pro C 25% Serum from MyChelle Dermaceuticals (reviewed here) which sells for approximately $65 CAD.

What is your favourite Vitamin C product?
