Petit Vour Unboxing February 2018

Hello, hello!

My Petit Vour box just arrived, and I thought that I would share my unboxing with you today!

Petit Vour Unboxing February 2018

Just a reminder, the box is $23 USD per box for Canada (it is $18 USD per month for the US, and $25 USD per month for all other countries). I’m using the exchange rate that I paid this month’s box in calculating the overall value – I paid $29.33 CAD for the February box.

Let’s take a look inside!

Petit Vour February 2018

Elate Cosmetics Creme Revealer in shade Porcelain – I was surprised to see a concealer in a perfect shade for me. I can’t wait to test this out over the next couple of days.

Petit Vour February 2018

Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub – I’ve wanted to try Derma E for a long time, so I’m super happy that I got this sample sized facial scrub! I can’t wait to try this out.

Petit Vour February 2018

Red Apple Lipstick Lip Liner in shade Natural – I’ve never tried this brand before, so I’m excited as it seems to be a perfect shade for several of the MLBB / nude lipsticks in my collection.

Petit Vour February 2018

Zabana Essentials Tamanu Calendula Healing Anti-Blemish Face Balm – This face balm sounds great, looking forward to trying this one out.

Petit Vour February 2018

All in all, I think that this month’s box was great! The contents are valued at $52 USD, and using the exchange rate that I paid for this month’s box, that works out to be $66.30 CAD.

Reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test everything out.

Essence Instant Volume Boost Mascara

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Essence Instant Volume Boost Mascara that I’ve been testing out. Here’s what it says on the tube:

Essence Instant Volume Boost Mascara

Power volume – smudge proof & intense black

Mascara for an extreme volume boost effect. Innovative fiber brush for an instant volume result within seconds. Opthamalogically approved.

Essence Mascara2

My lashes are long and stick straight, so I have to curl my lashes before I apply mascara or else it looks like I don’t have any lashes. As well, my eyes are sensitive so many mascaras irritate my eyes. My eyes water easily, so smudge-proof mascara is a MUST.

I have seven requirements for a mascara:

1. waterproof

2. smudge-proof

3. non-flaking / non-clumping

4. must be DARK black (not blackish, not brown black, and definitely not grey black)

5. volumizing

6. must hold a curl

7. non-irritating to my sensitive eyes

Essence Instant Volume Boost Mascara

How does the Instant Volume Boost Mascara measure up for me?

It is not waterproof, but is definitely smudge-proof. I haven’t had any problem with flaking, but if you don’t wipe the excess mascara off the brush before applying, it can get clumpy. I always remove the excess, so clumping is not a problem for me.

The mascara is super intense black, which is awesome, and I find it to be fairly volumizing and holds a curl. And, most importantly, it does not irritate my sensitive eyes.

Essence Instant Volume Boost Mascara

I would rate this mascara as being on par with the False Lashes Mascara from Essence (reviewed here), which I gave a 6.75 out of 7.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: I purchased this.

Weekly Recap Feb 19th to 25th

Hello, hello!

Just a little recap of the past week’s blog posts in case you’ve missed out and want to catch up. I went a little off my blogging schedule and only did two posts instead of my usual three.

Monday, Feb 19th – Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Revitalizing Face Oil Review

Thursday, Feb 22nd – Scentuals Rejuvenate Ultrasonic Diffuser Review

My February Petit Vour box should be arriving in the next day or so, I can’t wait to see what is inside! I’ve been really happy with my subscription so far.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Scentuals Rejuvenate Ultrasonic Diffuser Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Rejuvenate Ultrasonic Diffuser from Scentuals that we recently purchased because my Aromagem from Saje had an unfortunate accident. [info in italics taken from Well.ca]

This post was supposed to go up yesterday –  I had forgotten to schedule it  and didn’t realize until this morning – oops!

Scentuals’ beautiful Rejuvenate Ultrasonic Electric Diffuser is a wonderful modern addition to any space. The natural wood finishing and warm LED lights add an inviting touch to any environment while scenting the air delicately with pure essential oils. Brighten your home with scents that move you.

  • Max water level 600ml
  • Mist level options: High, Low
  • Runtime 20 hours on lowest setting
  • Automatic safety shut off when low water levels are detected

Scentuals Rejuvenate Ultrasonic Diffuser

We chose this one because it had a large capacity water reservoir, and variable mist setting. It has been used daily / nightly since we got it.

It makes a little bubbling noise occasionally when the water level gets low, but overall I find it to be a fairly quiet diffuser. It is easy to fill and clean, which is always a plus.

Scentuals Rejuvenate Ultrasonic Diffuser

We just ordered a second one on the weekend, so we don’t have to move this one from the living room to the bedroom all the time – I missed the mail delivery yesterday, so I’ll be picking it up today after work.

Do you use an essential oil diffuser? What is your favourite essential oil (or blend)?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Revitalising Face Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Hydrating Revitalising Face Oil from Aromatherapy Associates that came in my January Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour January 2018

This facial oil nourishes and revitalizes the skin like a rich cream, yet absorbs instantly like a serum. This blend of luxurious essential oils and natural plant extracts restores vitality to dull skin. Frankincense essential oil helps to rejuvenate whilst Rose oil smooths and firms. Skin is left appearing radiant and glowing. Suitable for all skin types, perfect for dry or mature skin that needs a boost of vitality.

This facial oil is beautiful – super hydrating. And it really absorbs into the skin quickly without feeling heavy or greasy. I’ve been using it in the mornings after cleansing, before applying moisturizer. I haven’t experienced any problems in using this with my makeup.

Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Revitalising Face Oil

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Prunus Persica (Peach) Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Borago Officinalis (Borage) Seed Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Flower Oil, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Flower Oil, Fusanus Spicatus (Australian Sandalwood) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Parfum**, Boswellia Carterii (Frankincense) Oil, Tocopherol. | *Certified Organic / Natural Essential Oils.

It does however contain perfume in its ingredients – but it has not triggered any skin reactions, thankfully.

The full size sells for $64 USD for 15ml (0.5 fl oz) so it is a little on the pricy side. The sample value is listed as $15.20 USD for 3ml (0.1 fl oz). I have several facial oils in my stash, hopefully I’ll be able to use them all up before any of them go off!

K Voss Cinnamon Lip Plumper Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Cinnamon Lip Plumper from K Voss that came in my January Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from Petit Vour]

Petit Vour January 2018

This lip balm contains a luxurious and intensely reparative formula that works on contact to soften roughness, relieve discomfort and help rejuvenate seriously dry lips. A potent concentration of Coconut Oil and Almond Oil renew the delicate lip area while strengthening lips’ moisture barrier to help prevent further damage.

K Voss Cinnamon Lip Plumper

The plumping feature comes from the wonderful time-tested bark of the tropical evergreen tree; cinnamon. Cinnamon is a spice originating from Sri Lanka that has been used for thousands of years for health and beauty. It is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial and stimulates blood circulation. For this reason it makes an excellent all-natural alternative as a lip plumper!

K Voss2

As a lip balm addict I was very happy to try this one out. I find that a lot of lip plumpers are drying on the lips, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.

K Voss Cinnamon Lip Plumper

This lip balm is super moisturizing, and smells and tastes like cinnamon hearts candy. The plumping tingle is a little intense at first, but it gives the lips a just kissed flush.

It has minimal ingredients – which I love:

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Coconut Oil, Almond Oil, Olive Oil, Soy Wax, Cassia (Cinnamon) Oil.

K Voss Cinnamon Lip Plumper

I absolutely love this plumping lip balm. I’d like to try more from K Voss.

Do you like plumping lip balms, or is the tingle too much for you?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Pinrose Secret Genius Review

Hello!

Today I have a review of the Secret Genius Eau de Parfum from Pinrose. Their perfumes are both cruelty free and vegan! [info in italics taken from the Pinrose website, and photo of full size bottle taken from Sephora]

Pinrose Secret Genius

Melt hearts with this romantic blend of vanilla and caramel. Perfect for hatching plans and sneaking kisses.

SCENT NOTES
S M I L E   Caramel
H E A R T   White Chocolate
S O U L   Madagascan Vanilla, Cedarwood, Sandalwood

I got a deluxe rollerball sample with my Sephora Beauty Insider points just before the holidays. When I first tested this perfume out, I really did not like it, I found it to be very strongly scented, and overpoweringly sweet. I set it aside and tried it again about three weeks ago, and this time I found it to be lovely.

To my nose it is more sweet than spicy, as the caramel and vanilla notes seem to be strongest. I wish that the cedarwood and sandalwood notes were a little more pronounced.

Pinrose scents are meant to be either worn alone or combined with other scents in the collection.

Pinrose Secret Genius

Have you tried any of the Pinrose scents?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Andalou Naturals Brighten & Tighten Hydro Serum Facial Mask Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Brighten & Tighten Hydro Serum Facial Mask from Andalou Naturals that came in my January Petit Vour subscription box. This is a fibre sheet mask with Vitamin C. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Andalou Naturals Brighten & Tighten Hydro Serum Facial Mask

Fruit Stem Cell Science®, Tamarind, and Vitamin C instantly begin to lighten, tighten, and brighten by targeting UV sun damage and activating collagen and elastin for a smooth, luminous complexion.

Andalou Naturals Brighten & Tighten Hydro Serum Facial Mask

This sheet mask has loads of serum / essence – enough that I was able to rub it into my face, neck and chest after removing. My skin seems to do well with most vitamin C based serums. This one was gentle and did not irritate my sensitive skin.

Andalou Naturals Brighten & Tighten Hydro Serum Facial Mask

Ingredients: 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Purified Water (Aqua), Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Laurylglucosides Hydroxypropylsulfonate, Vegetable Glycerin, Fruit Stem Cells (Malus Domestica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Fruit Oil*, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Tamarindus Indica (Tamarind) Seed Extract*, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract*, Biosaccaride Gum-1, Bisabolol, Amorphophallus Konjac Root Powder, Allantoin, Tocopherol, Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos) Extract*†, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract*†, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract*†, Phenethyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil* | *Certified Organic Ingredients

Andalou Naturals Brighten & Tighten Hydro Serum Facial Mask

The mask itself fit my face a lot better than some sheet masks, and did not feel like it was constantly sliding down my face. In the instructions it says to leave on for 10 to 20 minutes, I left it on for 15 minutes before removing.

My skin felt smooth and hydrated after use, and 24 hours after application, it still feels nice. I already use a vitamin C serum, and other skin brightening products, so I could not see any real difference in terms of brightness. All in all, I’d like to buy myself a box of these sheet masks and do a more long term test.

Andalou Naturals Brighten & Tighten Hydro Serum Facial Mask

Have you tried this sheet mask (or others) from Andalou Naturals? What is your favourite sheet mask?

Andalou Naturals is cruelty free.
