Au Naturale Color Theory Creme Corrector Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Au Naturale Color Theory Creme Corrector that came in my May Petit Vour subscription box. [info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour May 2018 Unboxing

Au Naturale’s Color Theory Creme Correctors were designed using complementary color theory, (hues opposite to one another on the color wheel neutralize when mixed) in order to counter under eye circles, blemishes and other skin quirks.

Au Naturale Color Theory Creme Corrector

The Creme Corrector is available in five different correcting shades: Linen, Peach, Flax, Sweet Basil and Lavender. Here’s the breakdown of what each shade is targeted for:

  • Linen – perfect for brightening the eye area and hiding signs of fatigue. Pink and peach concealers are best to combat dark under eye circles.
  • Peach – to hide dark circles or other spots for those with medium to dark skin tones.
  • Flax – to conceal purple or blue bruises, veins or under eye circles. Yellow concealers are the most versatile and are great for evening out skin tone and brightening complexions.
  • Sweet Basil – to neutralize any redness due to acne, scarring, rosacea, windburn or sunburn. Green concealers significantly reduce redness and give foundation an even base.
  • Lavender – to eliminate any unwanted yellow undertones/spots on your skin. Purple concealers will brighten pasty, dull or yellow complexions.

Au Naturale Color Theory Creme Corrector

I have seasonal allergies and am prone to puffy eyes and dark circles, so I was hoping for either Linen, Peach or Flax. My Becca brightening under-eye concealer is pinky-peach in tone, so it is probably good that I got the Flax  shade (yellow toned). It works pretty well to camouflage dark circles as the yellow cancels out the purple undertone.

Au Naturale Color Theory Creme Corrector

I find that a lot of stick style concealers are often a little on the draggy side when it comes to blending but the consistency of the concealer is surprisingly soft, easy to blend, and non-drying for the under eye, likely due to the Meadowfoam Seed, Castor, and Jojoba Seed Oils!

The packaging is really nice, it is metal, the cap seems to be magnetized, so it won’t fall off in your makeup bag or purse.

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam Seed Oil), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ricinus Communis (Castor Seed Oil), Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Seed Oil), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla Wax), Manihot Esculenta (Tapioca Root Starch), Organic Lavandula Officinalis (Lavender Oil), Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides, Micas, Silica.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Lauren B. Beauty Reparative Cuticle Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Reparative Cuticle Oil Review from Lauren B. Beauty that came in my May Petit Vour subscription box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour May 2018 Unboxing

Lauren B. Beauty’s custom blend of 14 ultra-pure plant and flower oils designed to quickly hydrate your dry cuticles. Also, it is packed with amino acids promoting healing and revival. Apply with the convenient dropper tip applicator so you can take as little or as much as you need – no mess!

Lauren B. Beauty Reparative Cuticle Oil

The Review: I’ve been using this cuticle oil for several days now, and I have to say that it works really well! I had just finished up my Nova Scotia Fisherman Cuticle Rescue and my cuticles were so dry, and needed lots of help. It both hydrates AND heals.

My only complaint is that I do find the dropper tip to be little messy if you aren’t careful using it. But since it works really well, I’ll deal with the potential mess!

Lauren B. Beauty Reparative Cuticle Oil

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Ylang Ylang, Lavender, Rosemary, Safflower, Avocado, Sweet Almond, Olive Fruit Oil, Rice Bran Extract

When I look at the ingredients, I know why it smells as good as it does with Ylang Ylang, Lavender and Rosemary! So good!

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Vita Liberata Fabulous Self Tanning Gradual Lotion with Marula Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Vita Liberata Fabulous Self Tanning Gradual Lotion with Marula Oil. For the record, I’m quite fair, on the ghostly end of the skintone spectrum. My skin is capable of tanning – just not by most people’s standards of “tan” and very slowly – the running joke is that my skin goes from shock white to almost beige.

Vita Liberata Self Tanning Gradual Lotion

The last time I tried a self tanner was years and years before I switched to cruelty free products, and the result was muddy, streaky and WAY TOO DARK. I figured that a gradual lotion would be the best option for me as I want a subtle, and ideally natural looking, result.  I just want is to tone down the shock white of my legs, since I live in shorts and skirts as soon as the weather gets warm enough.

My goal for using this self tanner is not to achieve a dark tan, I want to reduce the blinding whiteness of my legs! The rest of my body (other than my face) will tan very slightly over the summer while wearing loads and loads of sunscreen. ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN!

Vita Liberata Self Tanning Gradual Lotion

What it is: A superbly hydrating lotion that applies clear like a moisturizer and then develops to a beautiful sunkissed glow that can be deepened with daily use.

If you want to know more… This ultra-hydrating lotion formula is gentle enough for dry and sensitive skin types, and creates a natural-looking tan that fades after four to seven days. Certified organic botanicals and a moisture locking system nourish the skin and give 72-hour hydration while Odour Remove™ technology ensures no smell whatsoever.

Vita Liberata Self Tanning Gradual Lotion

To prep for using the Self Tanning Gradual Lotion, I made sure to exfoliate and moisturize in the days leading up to using the lotion to try to make sure that my skin wasn’t super dry.

Application – Sunday May 13th – I thought that I applied it evenly, and let it soak in before putting on a pair of shorts. After a few hours, I realized that yes, it was working, my skin was becoming less pale! And several hours after that I realized that I had not applied the Self Tanning Gradual Lotion as evenly as I had hoped – there was a streak of skin that remained shock white. Oops!

Result – Monday, May 14th – I showered and exfoliated and the streak is no longer visible, and my legs still have a bit of a glow.  It was at this point that I realized that you are supposed to shower the lotion off after several hours (4 to 8 hours, and if you are naturally pale, leave longer before showering). Oops, I waited until I showered the next day!

My “tan” lasted for several days before it gradually faded away. I exfoliated and reapplied the Self Tanning Gradual Lotion  for the second time on Monday, May 21st. I was a little more careful in applying this time, and it looks a lot better! On me, the tan is very golden in tone.

I’m really glad that I purchased the gradual version, because I think that the regular one would likely be too dark for me! This is perfect, it just looks like I have a very light tan on my legs. I probably won’t apply it again until it starts to fade, and just try to keep my legs this colour all summer.

Vita Liberata Self Tanning Gradual Lotion

The Self Tanning Gradual Lotion is surprisingly mildly scented. It doesn’t bother me at all. And it is super hydrating!

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Water*, Dihydroxyacetone**, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Panthenol, Disodium EDTA, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter (Beurre)*, Saccharide Isomerate*, Tocopheryl Acetate, Cucumis Melo (Melon) Fruit Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Fucus Vesicolosus (Bladderwrack) Extract*, Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Oil, Litchi Chinensis (Lychee) Fruit Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Extract*, Hydrolysed Silk (Soie), Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Extract*.

Have you tried this gradual self tanning lotion? Do you use self-tanners?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: I purchased this!

DevaCurl Melt into Moisture Matcha Butter Conditioning Mask Review

Hello, hello!

I cashed in some of my Beauty Insider points with my last Sephora order and got a deluxe sample size tube of the Deva Curl Melt into Moisture Matcha Butter Conditioning Mask. Just a reminder, my hair is fairly thick, wavy, colour-treated, fizz-prone and often dry at the ends as I only get a trim every couple of months – my haircut was in December. [info in italics taken from Sephora website]

Deva Curl Melt Into Moisture Matcha Butter Conditioning Mask

What it is: A nourishing treatment mask that transforms dehydrated curls with matcha butter for intense moisture, softness, and shine.
Key benefits:
– Deeply conditions and nourishes
– Boosts shine
– Makes waves and curls silky-soft
If you want to know more… If your natural hair texture is prone to extreme dryness or your curls are parched from moisture-zapping weather, this luxuriously creamy mask is just what you need. This nourishing treatment features a buttery texture won’t weigh hair down, but it melts onto every strand—infusing hair with moisturizing matcha green tea butter, vitamin-packed sweet almond oil, and protective beet root extract. The rich formula leaves all curl types shiny, silky-soft, and completely transformed.

Deva Curl Melt Into Moisture Matcha Butter Conditioning Mask

I applied the Matcha Butter Conditioning Mask after washing and towelling off excess water and left it in my hair for roughly 20 minutes before rinsing it out.

Deva Curl Melt Into Moisture Matcha Butter Conditioning Mask

The Result – Holy silky hair Batman, my hair had ZERO TANGLES to comb out!  I decided let it air dry to see how my hair would turn out. My hair was beautifully soft, shiny and wavy. It didn’t feel weighed down or heavy at all.

I think I might need to get a full size of this one the next time I’m buying myself a special treat – even though it is on the pricy side at $49 CAD for 8 oz, / $87 for 17.7 oz!

In case you are curious, the background is one of the Betsey Johnson bags from my collection. I’ve been using it a lot lately!

Bite Beauty Prismatic Multistick in Rose Pearl

Hello, hello!

I had a promo code from Sephora for a mini version of the Bite Beauty Prismatic Multistick in the shade Rose Pearl, and since it was on my wishlist, I picked it up with my last Sephora mini-haul. [info in italics taken from the Sephora website]

Bite Beauty Prismatic Multistick

What it is: A shimmering multistick that brings mesmerizing, pearl-inspired color to the lips, cheeks, or eyes.
What it does: This shimmering multistick delivers weightless, layerable color in a silicone-free formula. Like Bite Beauty’s original Multistick, Prismatic Pearl Multistick is breathable, blendable, and buildable. Wear each of the universally flattering pearl-inspired shades on their own for a mesmerizing monochromatic look, or layer them over any eye, cheek, or lip color—including original Multistick—for transformative dimension.

Bite Beauty Prismatic Multistick

The Prismatic Multistick comes in five different shades: Oyster Pearl (metallic taupe with silver shimmer), Rose Pearl (metallic rose with green and violet shimmer), Blush Pearl (metallic white with pink shimmer), Pink Pearl (metallic pink with red and pink shimmer) and Peacock Pearl (metallic teal with black, red, and green shimmer).

Bite Beauty Prismatic Multistick

The Prismatic Pearl Multistick is a really cool concept, as it is lip, eye and cheek safe. I’ve only tried it on my cheeks and lips so far, and it works well either way. It looks nice as a highlight, and as a pearly lip tint, and especially as a lip topper to add a pearly, metallic sheen to a lipstick. I think it is such a pretty shade!

Bite Beauty Prismatic Multistick

I think that I want to try them all! Have you tried any of the Prismatic Multisticks?

Disclosure: I used a promo code to get this for free with my last Sephora order.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm Review

Hello, hello!

If you’ve been reading this blog for a little while, you’ll already know that I am a lip balm addict. I’ve been using the Agave Lip Mask nightly for well over a year now. When I finally used up one of the last stick type lip balms in my stash, I knew that I wanted to finally try the Agave Lip Balm. [info in italics taken from Sephora]

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm

What it is:  A perfect soothing balm for ultimate hydration and recovery that quickly repairs and restores lips.
What it does: A must have for on-the-go lip care, Agave Lip Balm is the perfect travel essential. Agave Lip Balm is a nourishing formula made from agave and rare Madagascan vanilla CO2 extract. Lips stay hydrated and protected all day long, making your lips look natural on their own. It also acts as a primer for any color application.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm

At first use, I thought that it felt a lot like the Agave Lip Mask but in a stick form. I prefer to use lip balms in stick format when I’m out and about as it is less messy (and less germy)!

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm

After several uses, I think that I prefer the Agave Lip Mask as it feels less waxy and more silky. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the Agave Lip Balm, but I really LOVE the Lip Mask!

Ingredients:  – 5 Mg Trans-resveratrol from de Vitis Vinifera and Polygonum Cuspidatum
Lanolin* (Pharma Grade), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter**, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil*, Glyceryl Rosinate*, Cera Alba (Beeswax)**, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil**, Stearyl Alcohol*, Hydrated Silica*, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Sterols*, Copernica Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax**, Heptyl Undecylenate*, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil*, Mica*, Kaolin*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil Unsaponifiables*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Cera (Wax)*, Hydrogenated Cottonseed Oil*, Flavor (Aroma), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax*, Glycerin**, Tocopherol*, Sorbitan Stearate*, Vanilla Tahitensis (Vanilla) Fruit Extract*, Agave Tequilana (Blue Agave) Nectar**, Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla) Fruit Extract*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil**, Acacia Decurrens Wax*, Polyglycerin-3*, Trans-Resveratrol*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract**.

The Agave Lip Balm is cruelty free, but not vegan due to lanolin and beeswax content.

Have you tried either the Agave Lip Balm or the Lip Mask from Bite Beauty? Do you have a preference? What is your fave lip balm?

Suntegrity Vanish Organic Cleansing Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Vanish Organic Cleansing Oil from Suntegrity that came in my April Petit Vour subscription box. In my unboxing, I initially said that this was going in my stash, but I ended up testing it out because curiosity got the best of me! [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Vanish away stubborn mineral sunscreen, makeup and dirt without damaging your skin’s natural protective barrier. Formulated with certified organic olive, jojoba, sunflower and camellia oils, this vegan-friendly cleanser is extra gentle on delicate skin and eye area. Antioxidant rich botanicals of rose hips and echinacea leave skin feeling supple and toned while a subtle hint of hibiscus and sweet orange invigorate your senses and transform your ordinary skin cleansing routine into an uplifting daily ritual.

Suntegrity Vanish Organic Cleansing Oil

This is a great lightweight cleansing oil. It really does remove sunscreen, and makeup without leaving the skin feeling over-cleansed or greasy. It is super gentle, yet super effective! As an added plus, it smells really nice due to the sweet orange and hibiscus oils.

Suntegrity Vanish Organic Cleansing Oil

I have several facial cleansers in my stash right now, so I don’t actually need to purchase the full size at this point in time, but I’ll definitely be using this cleansing oil up on days when I feel like a need extra cleansing and don’t want to irritate my sensitive skin.

Suntegrity Vanish Organic Cleansing Oil

Do you have a fave oil cleanser?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

LASPA Sun Care Naturals – Mineral Sunscreen Review

Hello, hello!

Spring has finally arrived in Montreal, so it is a perfect time for a review of two new mineral sunscreens from LASPA Sun Care Naturals! I was sent an absolutely gorgeous PR package from PK Communications / LASPA.

LASPA is a Canadian company that specializes in natural suncare products, more specifically mineral sunscreens.

LASPA

LASPA Naturals

So what exactly is a mineral sunscreen and what are the benefits of using mineral sunscreens instead of chemical sunscreens? [info in italics taken from the LaSpa website and press release (Apr 23, 2018)]

Sunscreens use either a physical or chemical filter to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. Zinc Oxide (as used by LASPA) and Titanium Dioxide are natural mineral sun blocks that sit on your skin and stop both UVA and UVB rays from penetrating your skin. Chemical sunscreens use synthetic chemicals to reflect the sun’s rays after they have penetrated the skin’s surface

LASPA Naturals

Benefits:

  •  Zinc Oxide provides a broad spectrum protection against both UVA/UVB rays whereas chemical filters don’t necessarily provide this function
  • Zinc Oxide is effective immediately upon application, whereas chemical filters need approximately 20 minutes to be absorbed
  • Zinc Oxide reduces or eliminates the risk of allergies or skin irritation that can be caused by the chemicals used in chemical sun filters
  • Zinc Oxide avoids the risk of health issues that have been documented concerning the cumulative effects of chemical sunscreen ingredients on reproductive health

As you can see in the beautiful box, I received two different mineral sunscreens – The Daily Sun Protection Mineral Sunscreen SPF 20 and the Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30. As, well there was a shower pouffe, and a hair cord – both of which went into immediate use!

LASPA Naturals

LASPA Mineral Suncare is made from 100% natural source ingredients which are clinically tested, broad spectrum UVA/ UVB protection, hypoallergenic, and are fragrance / paraben / gluten / nut free, have recyclable / biodegradable packaging, and are water / sweat resistant.

The LASPA line is formulated with sensitive skin in mind, but I still did my usual skin patch test. After 24 hours and no issue, I began testing out both sunscreens – I tested the SPF 20 on my body, and the SPF 30 on my face and neck.

LASPA Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen Sensitive Skin SPF 30 (80ml / 2.7 fl oz) $40 CAD

LASPA Naturals

Light and translucent, this all natural Zinc based sunscreen lotion is perfect for protecting and moisturizing sensitive skin. Used as a daily regimen, it counteracts the aging and damaging affects of the sun rays and uses antioxidants to protect your skin.

This mineral sunscreen is formulated for the face and neck. I was really surprised that this sunscreen did not have the scent or white cast normally associated with zinc oxide based sunscreens. I’ve worn this on it own, with concealer and powder, and with my normal full makeup routine. It plays nicely with my makeup! It is light and does not make my skin feel heavy or greasy!

INGREDIENTS: Zinc Oxide 20%, NON-MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS: beeswax, bisabolol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, isoamyl cocoate, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, tocopherols

LASPA Daily Sun Protection Lotion SPF 20 (125ml / 4.2 fl oz) $44 CAD

LASPA Naturals

Used as a daily regime for under makeup or all over body, it moisturizes the skin with organic coconut oil, and counteracts the aging and damaging effect of the sun rays with vitamin E.

I tested the Daily Sun Protection Lotion SPF 20 on my body. It is highly moisturizing, and goes on silky, almost – but not quite – greasy, until it is absorbed into the skin! Like the Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen, it does not have any scent, nor does it have a white cast. It will be well used this spring and summer!

INGREDIENTS:  Zinc Oxide 14%, NON-MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS: beeswax, bisabolol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, certified organic cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, isoamyl cocoate, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, tocopherols

I am sure that you know that sunscreen should ALWAYS be worn to reduce your risk of skin cancer, but I’m telling you again! As an added bonus, you will reduce early aging caused by UV exposure (wrinkles, sunspots). Please wear sunscreen!

LASPA is currently available at spas and resorts all across Canada, and you can also find it online at beautysense.

Thank you PK Communications and LASPA Naturals for one of the most beautiful PR packages that I’ve received thus far!

Thanks for reading, have a beautiful day, and please remember to apply your sunscreen!

Disclosure: In case you totally missed it at the beginning of my blog post, this review contains PR samples. My sensitive skin and opinions are entirely my own.
