Clove + Hallow Lip Glaze (Candied Hearts) Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Lip Glaze from Clove + Hallow in the shade Candied Hearts that came this week in my June Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Clove + Hallow Lip Glaze

Formulated with natural olive oil, jojoba oil, and shea butter, the Lip Glaze offers inspired color and a dazzling finish without stickiness.

The Lip Glaze is available in six different shades:

  • Bubbly – pink-y nude
  • Angelic – neutral mauve
  • Candied Hearts – muted bubblegum pink
  • Prep – brighter, coral-toned pink
  • Mai Tai – peach with a touch of gold shimmer
  • Spicy – deep raspberry

Clove + Hallow Lip Glaze

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you will know that I’m not a big fan of lip glosses as most of them have a sticky texture that I can’t stand. This Lip Glaze is not supposed to be sticky, which gave me high hopes.

The packaging is a click type applicator brush, similar to the Stila Lip Glazes. The first use took forever for any of the product to come out onto the brush tip – at first I thought that it would never come out!

The shade Candied Hearts is described as a muted bubblegum pink. It is a pretty colour, with a surprisingly non-sticky lip feel, and a sheer wash of colour. I do think that I would have preferred either the shade Prep or Spicy though, but I’ll likely get loads of use from this shade.

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*, Oleic/Linoleic/Linolenic Polyglycerides, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Silica, Euphorbia, Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Tocopherol *Organic Ingredient; May Contain: Titanium Dioxide Ci 77891, Iron Oxides Ci 77491, Iron Oxide Ci 77492, Iron Oxide Ci 77499, Red 7 Lake Ci 15850, Yellow 5 Lake Ci 19140, Red 27 Lake Ci 45410.

Have you tried anything from Clove + Hallow? Are you a fan of lip glosses, or lip glazes?

Petit Vour Unboxing & First Impressions June 2018

Hello, hello!

Sorry for not posting yesterday – it was a holiday here in Quebec, and I’m still in the process of either testing things out, or waiting for things to arrive in the mail.

My June Petit Vour box arrived a little later than usual this month (it only arrived today actually), so this is just a quick unboxing with full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to try everything out.

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the U.S., $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate (1.3291) my box cost me $30.57 CAD this month

Petit Vour June 2018

Let’s take a look inside to see what I got this month. As always the box includes a beautiful informational card with a different watercolour print each month. [info in italics taken from Petit Vour].

Petit Vour June 2018

Juice Beauty Green Apple Cleansing Bar ($3 USD – full size $12 USD)

Renew, revitalize and soften your skin with this cleansing bar formulated with organic, extra virgin, cold-pressed olive oil, coconut oil, and a blend of apple, lemon and aloe juices. Infused with bright citrus notes to leave skin refreshed and glowing.

I’ve really liked all Juice Beauty skincare products that I’ve tried so far, and this soap smells really good! I have high hopes for this one!

MUN Anarose Hydrating Rose Toner ($7 USD – full size $65 USD)

Hydrate, soften and balance skin’s pH with this Japanese inspired toner. Anarose Hydrating Rose Toner offers an essential step to balance the skin’s pH after cleansing. Bulgarian Rosewater instantly soothes even the most sensitive skin while Hyaluronic acid firms and provides long-lasting hydration. Willow Bark Extract contains natural salicylic acid to exfoliate dead cells for a healthy glow and prepares the skin to receive nutrients. Goji Berry Extract helps reduce free radical damage and provides anti-aging benefits. A combination of Rose, Jasmine and Daisy Extracts recreates the velvety sensation of petals on your skin.

I love rose based skincare products and this one sounds lovely.

CYRENA. Mischievous Mermaid, Sovereign Queen, or Princess? Embrace your inner riches & shine with this roll-on fragrance. Gardenia & Magnolia Grandiflorum open to Tonka Glazed Green Cacao, finishing with Labdanum Amber.

This sounds like my kind of scent – I love florals and amber together.

Dr. Goldfaden’s purifying mask works to draw out dirt and pore clogging debris to reveal skin that looks clear and appears flawless. Developed to use as an overall facial mask, this powerhouse formula works to unveil a clearer-looking, radiant, even-toned complexion.

Sounds great, can’t wait to test it out after my usual patch test!

Clove + Hallow Lip Glaze in Candied Harts ($15 USD)

Formulated with natural olive oil, jojoba oil, and shea butter, the Lip Glaze offers inspired color and a dazzling finish without stickiness.

Really hoping that this is not going to be sticky, and that the shade suits me. I’ll be testing this out right away!

Sneak Peek – Now Testing

Hello, hello!

Just a sneak peek of what I’m in the process of testing.

If you follow me on InstaGram, you will know that I placed an order with Native for two of their natural deodorants – one for me, and one for the Mister.

Native Deodorant

We’ve both been using natural deodorants for a few years now, so we won’t go through the detox process that underarms go through when making the switch from anti-perspirant to deodorant.

The review will follow once we’ve had a chance to test them out.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Andalou Naturals Goji Peptide Perfecting Cream Mini-Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a mini-review / first impressions of the Goji Peptide Perfecting Cream from Andalou Naturals that came in my April Petit Vour box. Why a mini-review? Because it is a small blister pack type sample of 0.14oz (4g). [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour April 2018

Fruit stem cell complex, resveratrol CoQ10, and super antioxidants help support dermal vitality as goji glycopeptides uplift tone and texture for velvety soft skin. It leaves the appearance with fewer fine lines and wrinkles, and a rejuvenated complexion. For Dry/Very Dry Skin

Andalou Naturals Goji Peptide Perfecting Cream

Although the sample says that it is a single use pack, there was enough in it for me to try out for four days – enough to gather some impressions, but not really long enough to have an opinion on its effectiveness on fine lines / wrinkles.

It is a fairly lightweight facial cream considering it is geared for dry to very dry skin, but nonetheless, I found it to moisturize really well, without feeling heavy.

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Purified Water (Aqua), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Glyceryl Stearate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*†, Vegetable Glycerin, Fruit Stem Cells (Malus Domestica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Lycium Barbarum (Goji) Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Glyceryl Laurate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Allantoin, Bisabolol, Resveratrol, Ubiquinone (CoQ10), Borago Officinalis (Borage) Seed Oil*, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil*, Xanthan Gum, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Riboflavin, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract*†, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract*†, Phenethyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Apricot Isolates, Vanilla Isolate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil* | *Certified Organic Ingredients.

It has a mildly fruity scent – I guess that is the goji berry, and Orange Peel Oil.

All in all, I think that this cream might be worth trying out for a longer period of time, the full size is 1.7oz for $25 USD, so it isn’t super expensive.

Have you tried this facial cream?

Thanks fo reading and have a beautiful day!

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Sunset Oil from EiR NYC that came in my May Petit Vour subscription box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

An essential for beach bums, this arnica and aloe-infused body oil contains soothing essential oils and vitamins to restore parched skin damaged by the sun, salt, and wind. For everyday use or to be applied post-sun to keep skin extra-moisturized.

The Review: I’ve been using the EiR NYC Sunset Oil since it arrived when I get out of the shower or bath because it smells amazing and my skin is so smooth and hydrated after using! It keeps my legs moisturized all day! I really like this body oil!

Price-wise the full size bottle is $35 USD for 8 oz –  it is little on the spendy side, but not outrageously so as a little goes a long way. My sample was 1 oz, and I’ve gotten several uses out of it, and still have at least one of two uses left before I finish it!

Zabana Essentials Banana Colloidal Oatmeal Face Mask + Scrub Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Zabana Essentials Banana Colloidal Oatmeal Face Mask + Scrub that came in my May Petit Vour subscription box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour May 2018 Unboxing

Say goodbye to dry skin! Banana & Colloidal Oatmeal work as a mild and soothing powerhouse duo to hydrate, soothe, repair, and pamper the driest skin. Rich in Vitamin A, Potassium, and Silica skin proteins that will instantly reveal a smooth complexion and your natural glow.

Zabana Essentials Banana Colloidal Oatmeal Hydrating & Rejuvenating Face Mask + Scrub

This facial scrub – mask combo looks and feels a lot like a sugar scrub in texture. You apply it to wet skin, and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes and then massage it into the skin before rinsing it off. The facial mask + scrub is super gentle, and my skin felt so soft and hydrated after rinsing it off!

The sample pack contains enough of the mask-scrub for several uses, which I really like, because I prefer to use a product several times in order to have a solid opinion on how a product works for my sensitive skin.

The full size sells for $25 USD for a 2 oz jar, the sample foil pack contains 1 oz of product (worth $12.50 USD).

Zabana Essentials Banana Colloidal Oatmeal Hydrating & Rejuvenating Face Mask + Scrub

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Rhassoul Clay, *Musa (Banana) Powder, *Avena Sativa (Colloidal Oatmeal) Powder,  *Maranta (Arrowroot) Arundinacea Powder, *Sucrose (Sugar), Nucifera Prunus Dulcis (Almond) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Essential Oil, *Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Plant Extract | *Certified Organic Ingredients.

Have you tried this hybrid facial mask and scrub?

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Mandelic Acid 10% + HA from the Ordinary / Deciem. This review has been in my drafts folder for quite awhile, I put it on hold due to recent Deciem drama-lama stuff.  I decided that I would finally publish the review before I finish it up as I’ve been using it since March! [info in italics taken from the website]

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA

Mandelic Acid 10% + HA offers superficial dermal peeling that is gentler than other alpha hydroxy acids. The molecular weight of mandelic acid is 152.1 daltons which is larger than other alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic acid is 76.0 daltons, for example). This larger size allows mandelic acid to penetrate the skin more slowly which in turn makes it very gentle and suitable for all skin types including the most sensitive skin. You don’t need a concentration of more than 10%, because then you would simply be achieving an indirect peeling strength that is more easily offered through lower percentages of glycolic acid.

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA

Since I have sensitive skin I chose to try this Alpha Hydroxy Acid as it was supposed to be gentle and suitable for sensitive types. I did my usual patch test, just in case before testing it out on my face.

It actually feels similar to a light facial oil when applied, and it absorbs into the skin fairly quickly. I did not feel any tingle sensation like I do with most AHAs. It has a very gentle exfoliation effect, so don’t expect huge results the first time that you use it. Despite that, it does brighten and smooth the skin. For me, it is gentle enough that I could use it every night, but I don’t because I alternate between the Mandelic Acid, the Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (the new version of the Advanced Retinoid 2% Emulsion), and the Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%.

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA

AHAs might make your skin more sun sensitive, so don’t forget to wear your sunscreen. You should be wearing it anyway!

Ingredients: Propanediol, Aqua (Water), Mandelic Acid, Glycerin, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hydroxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol.

Have you tried this one? Or another version of Mandelic Acid? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!
