Hello, hello!
If you follow me on InstaGram, you will have seen me unboxing a package from Montreal based Wise Men’s Care (& Tök Communications).
Although the line is marketed for men, I tested everything out myself, and I got the Mister to try things out as well. [info in italics taken from the Wise Men’s Care website]
Wise caters to a new generation of conscious consumer; those who want thoughtful, carefully-sourced, and natural personal care products down to the last ingredient and packaging detail.
Artificial fragrances and colors, MEA, DEA or TEA, parabens, phthalates, and sulfates will never be found in our products. Natural, healthy and cruelty-free ingredients will always be the core of our products.
In the box there were several items – Birch Bark Daily Shampoo, Glacier Clay Pomade, Sea Kelp Soap, and a Neem Wood Comb. The packaging is eco-conscious and recyclable.
Onto the review! Starting with the Birch Bark Daily Shampoo – I love that they included a 100 ml travel size ($20 CAD) and a 475 ml refill pouch ($34 CAD).
White Birch Bark extract is a sustainable botanical extract found in the Canadian Boreal forest and renowned for its high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants. Less foamy and artificial than most shampoos, the unique array of essential oils found in this shampoo offer both aromatherapy and an exceptional cleansing experience. You will also enjoy active ingredients known to help encourage healthy and revitalized hair.
Other key ingredients include eucalyptus extract, keratin; cedarwood, clary sage, rosemary and geranium leaf essential oils.
This shampoo doesn’t lather super well, but manages to deep clean regardless. It is super gentle, and leaves my hair feeling soft and clean. And it smells amazing – very earthy and woody. I love the essential oil blend that they used for this shampoo!
Next is the Glacier Clay Pomade in a 60 ml reusable glass container ($32 CAD) – the Mister shaves his head so he just doesn’t have enough hair to test out the pomade.
This pomade is made with hand-picked organic glacial marine clay from northern British Columbia, an ingredient renowned for its abundance of beneficial minerals. Great for any hair type, it features a medium yet natural hold with a matte finish and a fresh and earthy scent from north-western Canada. Unlike most styling products, the ingredients of this Glacial Clay pomade can help to promote healthy hair by moisturizing, nourishing and protecting throughout the day. Other key ingredients include shea & cacao butter, coconut oil; sandalwood, clary sage and vetiver grass essential oils.
Pomades are probably better suited for shorter hair, but that didn’t stop me from trying it in my collarbone length hair. It is a little stiff to work with at first, but the heat of your hands makes it easier to work with. It also has an earthy scent, but at the same time, it smells like a clay facial mask. It gives the hair a natural feel without being crunchy or dry to the touch.
Next is the Sea Kelp Soap $12 CAD:
Sea Kelp extract is a sustainable botanical ingredient harvested off the coast of the Canadian Maritimes and is known for its high concentration of iodine, minerals and anti-oxidants. Great for any skin type, this soap offers a gentle yet effective cleansing experience and a fresh, vegetal and oceanic scent reminiscent of the Canadian Atlantic waters.
- Hand-made in Québec by cold-processed saponification
- 100% natural, vegan and cruelty-free
- Free of palm oil and its chemically modified derivatives
The ingredients of this Sea Kelp Soap can help promote healthy skin by moisturizing, de-toxifying and nourishing your skin. Other key ingredients include shea butter, olive and canola oil; petit grain, black pepper, bergamot and vetiver essential oils.
This is a really great natural soap. It lathers well and like everything tested in this package from Wise Men’s Care, it smells so good – very clean and earthy. We both really loved this soap!
Neem Wood Comb $15 CAD – I was really happy to see such a beautiful wood comb.
Neem has been used for millennia for it’s anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties, just to name a few. For combs, using the wood from the neem tree is a great alternative to regular plastic or metal materials, who’s sharp edges, static electricity generation and toxic residue can damage your scalp, hair and health in general. The soft teeth of our neem wood comb massage your scalp and the wood’s many properties can help reduce dandruff and other scalp-related issues.
I didn’t realize that the Neem Wood Comb would help with scalp health – this is awesome! I always use a comb to detangle my hair after washing it, so this will get a ton of use by me.
You can buy all of the products separately, and they also have a few gift bundles ranging from $52 to $165 CAD.
Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!
Disclosure: PR samples, however my opinion is always my own.
so funnnnnn

The packaging and aesthetics of this line looks pretty unisex. I used to use pomades to keep my baby hairs and fly aways down, the trick to use just a teeny bit.

I’ll have to try that, thanks for the tip!

Everything in this package looked really good to me, especially that pomade 🙂 It is interesting.
But that wooden comb gave me flashbacks to when I used to use one. I even made a post about it (here it is if you are interested, if not, no pressure 😀 https://positivityandbeauty.wordpress.com/2016/01/13/wooden-comb/ ).
The cliff notes are that because of the stiffness of the bristles, the comb is not that good for longer hair because it causes breakage. It might be different with this one but I thought I share my experience. I am really interested how this one performs so if you have time and if you try it yourself, let me know 🙂
I just might have bought a bad one.
Have a nice one 🙂

It works pretty well for my hair, but I’m used to using a rigid plastic comb for detangling, so I don’t pull / comb very hard and haven’t had any breakage. My hair is collarbone length and in good condition despite being super thick and wavy.

Then it might be this one comb that I got or maybe that I have long hair. I imagine it would’ve worked ok if I got shorter hair. Glad that it worked good for you though. Thank you for the response 🙂
