Nyx Machinist Collection – The Lip Products Reviews

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing two of the lip products from Nyx’s recent Machinist Collection (inspired by Steampunk). The Machinist Collection has three themes: Grind, Steam and Ignite. There are two lip products for each of the three themes – the Machinist Lipstick and the Machinist Lip Lacquer. I purchased both in the Ignite shades. The Lipstick:

Stud those lips in shimmery color using our limited-edition Machinist Lipstick. This comfortably creamy formula is loaded with ultra-fine pearls that add over-the-top luster to your pout. Available in honey bronze, copper and bronze—representing the Grind, Steam and Ignite facets of our Machinist collection, respectively—these high-coverage lippies are the perf accessories.

The Ignite shade of the Lipstick is a dark, vampy, metallic bronze shade. In the tube it looks like it would be more wine toned, but on me it pulls more brown. I do find it a little on the drying side, not terribly so – comparable to a mildly drying matte lipstick. I find that most metallic lipstick shades feel like when I wear them.

The Lip Lacquer:

Go full steam ahead with Machinist Lip Lacquer. This limited-edition lippie is the Slip Tease Full Color Lip Lacquer you know and love—now in steampunk-inspired shades! Available in wine (Grind), blue (Steam) and nude (Ignite), each grungy tone adds a glossy touch to the Grind, Steam and Ignite facets of our Machinist collection. This perfectly plush lippie goes on silky-smooth and provides full coverage.

The Ignite shade of the Lip Lacquer is a very wearable nude shade that is super comfortable on the lips – and surprisingly long wearing for a glossy finish liquid lipstick. I’ve been wearing this one a LOT lately!

*In the photo below I’ve swatched the Lip Lacquer rather thick to show the colour*

I’ve also been testing out one of the Machinist Palettes – swatches and review to follow in a few days.

Have you tried anything from the Machinist Collection?

Nyx is cruelty free, however their parent company is not.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: I purchased these things.

  1. I’ve got the Grind palette and I must say, I’m finding it really disappointing! The colours aren’t as pigmented as they look in the pan, and the matte colours end up really muddy if you try to blend them. And the shimmers only work over a sticky base. Don’t think I’ll buy any more Nyx eyeshadow palettes!
