Petit Vour Unboxing & First Impressions December 2019

Hello, hello! I’m back from my annual holiday week blogging break, well rested and ready to dive back into blogging!

Petit Vour December 2019

My December Petit Vour box finally arrived on December 27th. I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out. [info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour December 2019

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate @1.3652 my box cost me $31.40 CAD this month.

Let’s take a closer look :

Petit Vour December 2019

Kani Botanicals Lip + Cheek Tint (full size $28 USD)

Created with nourishing organic ingredients, this unique formula combines hydration and protection with rich mineral colors for a beautiful, natural finish on both lips and cheeks.

Petit Vour December 2019

This lip and cheek tint is available in three colours – I received the shade Duchess – which is pink toned. I do love multi-purpose products, so hopefully the colour will work for me.

Bali Balm Natural Lip Balm (full size $26 USD)

Clean, crisp and citrusy fresh, this creamy lip balm gets its alluring aroma from the essential oils of bergamot and grapefruit. Bergamot oil is known to have both calming and uplifting effects, while the grapefruit acts as a purifying agent.

Petit Vour December 2019

The Bali Balm is available in three different scents / flavours, I received Bergamot & Grapefruit. The packaging of this lip balm is so luxe! I am always happy to receive a lip balm to add to my collection!

5th Dimension Sub Rose Serum (sample size 7 ml, $9 USD, full size 30 ml $38 USD)

Sub Rosa is a blend of highly concentrated antioxidant and omega fatty acid oils infused with rose petals to refresh and replenish skin’s complexion.  Non-comedogenic, this face oil requires just a few drops to hydrate, soften, regulate oil production, and soothe inflammation.

Petit Vour December 2019

This sounds like an amazing serum. I’ll have to stash it for now as I have a few serums in rotation at the moment.

Highborn Défumé Anointing Oil (sample size 2 ml, $7 USD, full size 10 ml $35 USD)

This Ritual Rollerball will cleanse and clear your energetic space, focus the mind for meditation or prayer, and prepare yourself for ritual. DÉFUMÉ pays true homage to palo santo while embodying a dynamic fragrance profile. Application is beautiful (externally) anywhere on your body, this fragrance is known to transport. Boasting organic essential oils that are sustainably sourced and extracted, reiki charged crystals and high vibes – DÉFUMÉ will help deepen your self care regimen.

Petit Vour December 2019

Sounds interesting, might be good to try before yoga.

The total value of this month’s box is $70 USD which works out to $95.56 CAD. What do you think of the December box?

Moor Spa Cleansing Milk, Supreme Cream, Pumpkin Peel + Tension Balm Reviews

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of a selection of goodies from Moor Spa, a Canadian based company, that is 100% naturally sourced, and cruelty free. I received a PR package from them recently containing samples of the Cleansing Milk, Supreme Cream, Pumpkin Peel and Tension Balm in a cute little makeup bag [info in italics taken from the Moor Spa website]

Moor Spa Cleansing Milk, Supreme Cream, Pumpkin Peel, and Tension Balm

Moor Spa’s comprehensive face, body, spa and wellness line is inspired directly by the healing powers of nature. Our products all contain the exclusive Austrian Moor, a nutrient rich plant/flower/herbal complex that enhances skin’s health and appearance.

By combining the revitalizing, purifying Moor essence with plant derived cosmeceuticals, unadulterated herbal extracts and pure essential oils, Moor Spa delivers safe and effective solutions to meet your skin and body care needs.

Our products are not 95% or 99% natural, they are 100% naturally derived. Moor Spa is rated as one of the safest product lines in the spa industry by one of the leading consumer product safety organizations in North America.

Let’s take of look at each of the products that I received.

Cleansing Milk:

Moor Spa Cleansing Milk

A mild yet effective blend of cleansing and soothing extracts including chamomile, lavender and arnica.

The Cleansing Milk is targeted for dry and sensitive skin, but I can see it working for all skin types as it is very gentle and effective – lightweight, hydrating and non-greasy. It removes makeup effectively and does not make my skin feel irritated or dried out.

Supreme Cream:

Moor Spa Supreme Cream

Combines the intensely hydrating action of hyaluronate spheres, the rejuvenating effects of sweet potato extract and the anti-oxidant properties of CoEnzyme Q10 – all in one advanced moisturizer.

I really like this one, it is super hydrating and rich without feeling heavy or greasy. As well, it plays nicely with makeup. I think that this is so perfect for winter weather, and I love that it has anti-aging and anti-oxidant ingredients!

Pumpkin Peel:

Moor Spa Pumpkin Peel

This enzymatic exfoliant blends pumpkin pulp, carrot extract, papain and bromelain enzymes, for a healthy, refined appearance.

Although this peeling mask is not for sensitive skin, I’m happy to say that I was actually able to use this enzyme peeling mask without any problems for my sensitive skin. I did, however do a patch test on my wrist first, followed by a second patch test on my neck to test for skin reaction. My skin looks so smooth and glowy after using this peeling mask.

Tension Balm:

Moor Spa Tension Balm

This unique cream helps soothe away muscular tension and headaches including migraines. It combines moor extract with a wealth of soothing botanical extracts including feverfew, linden, peppermint and melissa.

I love this type of product – especially when it is filled with soothing ingredients. I love that it can be used for both headaches and muscle aches. And it smells nice too!

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive Exfoliating Mask Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive Exfoliating Mask that came in my November Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive

Reveal a brighter complexion with this potent alpha and beta hydroxy acid mask that delivers spa-grade exfoliation, while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as dark spots and discoloration, for optimum age-defying results.

designed for all skin types (except sensitive skin), 20’s and up and is effective for helping uneven skin tone and texture. NOTE: The Juice Beauty GREEN APPLE® Brightening Collection is not designed for very sensitive or rosacea skin due to the alpha/beta hydroxy fruit acids.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive

This acid peel / mask is not recommended for sensitive skin, but I did a patch test (two actually), one on my wrist, and when that showed no signs of reaction, I did a second test on my neck before trying it out on my face. I can safely say that my sensitive skin CAN tolerate this peel / exfoliating mask! There is some very minor tingle, but within what I would consider to be a safe amount, and my skin is a little pink, but it fades back to normal quite quickly after using.

All in all, I like this one. It helps to brighten and even out skintone, and can help with fine lines.

However, I will caution you if you sensitive skin, or have never used alpha or beta hydroxy acid, to please do a patch test before trying on your face. My skin has reacted badly to some acid type peels in the past – so please be careful!

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive

Have you tried this exfoliating peel mask? Have you ever reacted to a peel type mask?

Lavido Aromatic Body Lotion Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Lavido Aromatic Body Lotion that came in my November Petit Vour box. This is the second product from Lavido that I’ve gotten from my subscription. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Lavido Aromatic Body Lotion

This rich but lightweight body lotion leaves your skin buttery soft and restored with organic essential oils. Best for all skin types.

I was afraid that this body lotion was going to be strongly scented, but thankfully it is not. It is mildly citrus, with a hint of something floral / herbal underneath (probably the bergamot). The body lotion is nicely hydrating but not at all greasy. I especially like to use it as a hand cream – the sample sized tube is perfect to take in my bag, or leave next to my computer.

Cake Beauty The Posh Wash and The Soft Serve

This is a really nice shampoo, it lathers really well, and makes my hair feel super clean without drying it out. My hair looks great on the second day, and fairly good on the third day!

Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara Waterproof Review

Essence Lash Princess Waterproof Mascara

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara Waterproof. [info in italics taken from the Essence Cosmetics website]

Essence Lash Princess Waterproof Mascara

your favorite royal sister is NOW IN WATERPROOF! lash princess false lash waterproof gives you voluminous false lash effects of the original in a new waterproof formula! the conic shape fiber brush provides lashes with dramatic volume and sculpted length. opthalmologically tested.
Essence Lash Princess Waterproof Mascara
I admit to being extremely picky when it comes to mascara – my lashes are long, stick straight and surprisingly light in colour for a natural dark brunette. I always curl my
lashes before applying mascara. My eyes are sensitive, and water easily so any mascara that I use must be smudge proof, and water-resistant or ideally waterproof.
Essence Lash Princess Waterproof Mascara

I have seven requirements for a mascara, and I’ll comment on each requirement and score each point. So how did the Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara Waterproof measure up?

1. waterproof +1 point

2. smudge-proof +1 point

3. non-flaking / non-clumping +1 point

4. must be DARK black (not blackish, not brown black, and definitely not grey black) +1 point, this mascara is super mega black (yay!)

5. volumizing +3/4 point (Fairly volumizing, but not Awesomesauce level of volume – I’m being uber picky on this point, I know!)

6. must hold a curl +1 point

7. non-irritating to my sensitive eyes +1 point

Essence Lash Princess Waterproof Mascara

I really like the tapered shape of the bristle wand, it is great for reaching the inner and outer corners. Overall, this one was really, really good,  with a score of 6.75 out of 7 (based on my rating scale) – the more I use it, the more I’m loving it.

Have you tried this mascara, did you like it?

Sothys Detoxify – Energize Skincare Collection Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing three products from the new Detoxify – Energize  / Detox Energie Skincare Collection from Sothys, that was kindly gifted to me from the PR team PozPub / Sothys Canada. [info in italics taken from press release and Sothys website]

Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize

This collection aims to detox and protect the skin from pollution, which is a cause of premature aging on the skin. The Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize line was developed to make the skin more luminous, better oxygenated, and boosted, its youthful radiance restored.

There are five items in the Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize line:  Energizing Serum / Sérum énergisant intégral (depollute / oxygenate), Protective Depolluting Essence / Essence dépolluante protectrice (anti-pollution shield), Instant Energizing Corrector / Correcteur énergisant instantané (unify), Energizing Radiance Ampoules / Ampoules éclat énergisantes (smoothing), and Depolluting Youth Cream / Crème jeunesse dépolluante (rebalance the microbiome) .

I received the Energizing Serum, Protective Depolluting Essence and Instant Energizing Corrector and have been testing them out for a few weeks now. Let’s take a closer look at each one:

Energizing Serum / Sérum énergisant intégral:

Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize

This powerful detoxifying and energizing cocktail is an incredibly gentle and light-textured serum: the ideal boost to your skincare ritual. Skin regains its vitality and looks younger.

Key ingredients: Organic energizing Siberian ginseng root extract (Protects the cell to maintain good energy levels and boosts intracellular energy) and Organic elderberry extract – A complete active ingredient to protect against pollution 92%*. Anti-free radical. * Anti-pollution protection: 92% – in vitro testing of keratinocytes exposed to urban pollution.

This is a light, milky looking serum. It absorbs into my skin quickly and feels very gentle, but hydrating without feeling sticky or greasy. It is scented, but does not trigger a reaction for me.

Protective Depolluting Essence / Essence dépolluante protectrice:

Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize

To incorporate into your beauty ritual every day, and protect your skin’s youth. This formula works like a barrier against pollution. Its innovative dropper bottle provides just the right amount of protection, every day while enveloping the skin in an ultra-comfortable hydrating veil. * Depolluting = helps to limit damaged to the skin caused by pollution.

Key ingredients: Detoxifying peptides [Biomimetic design. 360°global antipollution (outdoor/ indoor/internal)], Organic energizing Siberian ginseng root extract and Organic elderberry extract.

In the morning, this is applied after your moisturizer, and in the evening, before applying moisturizer. This is a very watery essence, but it absorbs into the skin fairly quickly, leaving a very slight tacky finish at first (but the tackiness disappears quickly). This one is also scented – but again, does not trigger a reaction for me.

Instant Energizing Corrector / Correcteur énergisant instantané:

Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize

An incredible texture that transforms during application to adapt to all skin tones and skin types EE* cream contains encapsulated pigments to instantly target and correct any imperfections visible on the skin’s surface. * Energy Enhancer

Key Ingredients: Detoxifying peptides, Organic energizing Siberian ginseng root extract and Organic elderberry extract.

This one is very much a blurring and brightening product, and it makes my skin so glowy and radiant. You can use it one its own for makeup free days, or as a primer before makeup. This turned out to my my favourite of the three products, and I find myself only wearing foundation when I have client meetings, and the rest of the time just wearing this with under-eye concealer and a touch of setting powder – it makes my skin look so good!

Sothys Detox Energie / Detoxify Energize

Empties November 2019

Hello, hello!

Another month’s worth of empties – I think that I’ve made really great progress on my stash this month! Because I’m on a low-buy (only buying things when necessary, if I say that I would re-purchase it means eventually, not right away).

Let’s take a look:

Skincare

Empties November 2019 - Skincare

Akar Skin Balance Toning Mist – This was from my Petit Vour subscription. I loved it a lot and would love to buy a full size eventually. Review is here.

Osea Atmosphere Protection Cream – Another Petit Vour gem that I loved. Lightweight hydration. Would purchase this one. Review is here.

By Anhesa Cedar Face Cream – I won this in a giveaway. This one is great for when my skin is dry and I need a moisture boost. And it smells wonderful. Would buy. Review is here.

Honua Skincare Pa’akai Cleansing Cream – This was such a dreamy cleansing cream from my Petit Vour subscription. Would LOVE to buy a full size of this but have so many cleansers to use up. Review is here.

Cosmessential Premium Facial Serum The Grande – This was a PR sample. It worked really well for me. It was lightweight, super-hydrating and filled with loads of anti-aging ingredients. Would buy if I didn’t have several more serums to use up. Review is here.

Haircare:

Empties November 2019 - Haircare

Maui Moisture Color Protection + Sea Minerals Shampoo & Conditioner – I’ve purchased several of the Maui Moisture formulations over the past year (or two). This one might be my favourite! It helped keep my colour from fading fast and made my hair feel soft and clean. I’ll probably buy this again (eventually). Review is here.

Makeup:

Empties November 2019 - Makeup

Harvest Natural Beauty Lengthening Organic Mascara – Another Petit Vour box item. This wasn’t the mascara for me as it isn’t waterproof and my eyes water easily. If you don’t have watery eyes, you might like it a lot. Review is here.

Essence I ❤ Extreme Volume Mascara (Waterproof) – This is one of my go-to mascaras. It adds volume, holds a curl and its waterproof. Been buying this mascara since 2016! Review is here.

Joik Gloss & Care Lip Oil – My friend brought this back from Estonia a few months ago. I’m sad that it is empty because I love it so much! I bought my first one back in 2017 when I travelled to Estonia. International shipping is quite expensive, so this is going on the wishlist. Review is here.

There were a few more products that I’m so close to finishing up, hopefully they’ll be in next month’s empties. Do you finish up much this month?
