Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil from Little Barn Apothecary that came in my March Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil

Luxurious daily moisturizer crafted with organic skin perfecting oils of sesame, jojoba, avocado and vitamin E for intense moisture and a glistening youthful glow. Formulated for all skin types, non-greasy formula quickly absorbs deep into skin providing vitamins and minerals. An indulgent journey through fields of white sun-drenched blossoms, lightly kissed by delicate pink citrus. Honeysuckle absolute and pink grapefruit essential oils blend to create this perfectly sensual aroma: sweet, mildly citrus, sun-drenched floral.

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil

It is no secret that I absolutely love body oils. Especially if they are light and non-greasy while being super hydrating. I really love how this body oil soaks into the skin quickly and deeply hydrates without feeling greasy.

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil

I don’t love the scent, but I don’t hate it either – I’m just not a fan of honeysuckle, but the grapefruit notes makes it work. This body oil is available in other scents, so I’d be interested in checking some of them out eventually.

I love that the ingredient list is fairly short:

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Prunus Dulcis (Almond) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Absolute, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Essential Oil, Tocopherols (Vitamin E).

Andalou Naturals Citrus Sunflower Uplifting Shower Gel Review

Andalou Naturals Citrus Sunflower Shower Gel

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Citrus Sunflower Uplifting Shower Gel from Andalou Naturals that came in my March Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

AndalouNaturals1

This skin conditioning gel blends emollient rich rosehip and argan oils with coconut water and gentle cleansing botanicals for fresh, healthy looking skin. Uplifting citrus sunflower delights the senses as superfruit antioxidants and ultra-hydrating aloe vera help protect and uplift skin’s moisture barrier for an invigorating, all-over body treatment.

Andalou Naturals Citrus Sunflower Shower Gel

The packaging would probably be better with a pump, as the shower gel is a little on the runny side, but despite this, it lathers really well. I found it to be hydrating and makes my skin feel clean with no soapy residue left behind.  I love bath and shower products, especially if they have a nice scent, and this one is really bright and awakening, perfect for a sluggish morning! Citrus based scents are always so refreshing!

All in all, yet another bath and body product from Andalou Naturals that I really liked!

Andalou Naturals Citrus Sunflower Shower Gel

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Purified Water (Aqua), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Vegetable Glycerin, Fruit Stem Cells (Malus Domestica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive Berry Complex*, Lauryl Glucoside, Stearyl Citrate, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Fruit Extract*, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water*†, Allantoin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Argania Spinsosa (Argan) Kernel Oil*, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Oil*, Panthenol, Lactic Acid, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract*†, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Pine Isolates, Litsea Cubeba (May Chang) Fruit Oil, Petroselinum Crispum (Parsley) Seed Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil*

Currently Testing – Silk’n Infinity Hair Removal Device

Hello, hello!

This is a sneak peek at the Infinity Hair Removal Device that the PR team for Silk’n sent to me for testing and review purposes. I’m super excited about this device because I have had laser hair removal sessions about 8.5 to 9 years ago, and was thinking about getting a few “touch up” sessions as I have had some regrowth since then (more on this later).[info in italics taken from the Silk’n website]

One thing I will say – if you choose not to do hair removal that is cool and beautiful. If you choose to do hair removal that is cool and beautiful too. We are all beautiful!

A little bit of detail on eHPL for those that like to nerd it up with me:

In addition to optical light energy found in HPL (home pulsed light), our new eHPL technology uses galvanic energy to open your pores, allowing the Infinity to treat thick, stubborn hairs right at their root even more effectively. With its quartz bulb, the device is able to reload faster than other technologies, allowing for more pulses in a shorter amount of time for speedy treatment that fits your schedule.

Silk'n Infinity Hair Removal Device

So how does it work?

A quartz bulb delivers the optical light pulse, which is directed into the skin. The light energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft and is transformed into heat. This heat destroys the hair so it won’t grow back, while leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. The result is an effective, and virtually painless, treatment. […] Galvanic energy is delivered through an electrode plate located at the rear of the Infinity device […] When the electrode touches the skin, the skin pores open, allowing optical energy to reach deeply to the root of the hair follicle, giving it access to even the most coarse, stubborn hairs. This energy also stimulates your skin to improve circulation and tone, while allowing for optimal absorption of post-treatment lotion

Silk'n Infinity Hair Removal Device

I decided to start testing on my lower leg, bikini line and underarms – all of which I have previously had laser hair removal treatments and need touch ups. I had nine treatments over the course of about 1.5 years – and that was about 8.5 to 9 years ago. I would say that my lower legs are roughly 70 to 75% hair free, underarms and bikini line are roughly 65 to 70% hair free. So I’m not starting at the very beginning.

Silk'n Infinity Hair Removal Device

A typical full hair growth cycle may take 18 to 24 months. During this time, multiple hair removal sessions will be required in order to achieve long-lasting hair removal. The efficiency of hair removal varies from person to person according to body area, hair color and how the device is used. Here’s what a typical hair removal plan should look like during a full hair growth cycle:

Treatments 1 to 4: Two weeks apart. Treatments 5 to 7: Four weeks apart. Treatments 8+: Treat as needed, until desired hair removal results are achieved.

I’ve already done my first treatment, and am due for the second one at the end of the week. The machine is easy to use. I like that it has adjustable intensity settings. I started at the lowest intensity to see how it felt and test how my skin reacted before moving up to a higher setting.

The machine makes a little zapping sound when it flashes, and you can hear the cooling fan inside the machine. Personally, I don’t think that it hurts at all, it just feels like a little heat pulse to me. I will say that areas where the skin is thinner (ie. underarms, back of the knee, and leg crease / bikini line) feel odd – not painful, just slightly uncomfortable in a weird sort of way. On my legs, it was a breeze! And surprisingly quick to do even though I was taking my time to get used to handling the device.

I will be checking in along the way to let you all know my results after every few treatments to let you know my progress, I’m quite excited!

Feel free to ask any questions, and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Formulary 55 Sea Mineral Foot Soak Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Sea Mineral Foot Soak from Formulary 55 that came in my February Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from Petit Vour website]

Formulary55 1

Perfect for tired feet, this fizzing foot soak is a wonderful way to end a long day. This peppermint and eucalyptus effervescent foot soak is made with pure essential oils and Dead Sea mineral salts.

To use, fill a small wash tub with water, drop in contents of envelope (each packet contains enough for 1-2 treatments), and soak your feet in the detoxifying blend.

Formulary 55 Sea Mineral Foot Soak

It is like a fizzy bath bomb, but for the feet. I love that it has minimal ingredients. This would be perfect for someone who is on their feet all day. Very relaxing and soothing.

The peppermint and eucalyptus give it such a fresh and relaxing scent – I often mix peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils on my diffuser because I love the two combined!

Formulary 55 Sea Mineral Foot Soak

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Ground Dead Sea salts, sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, cornstarch, and essential oils.

Petit Vour February 2019

Petit Vour February 2019

A creamy, Ecocert certified, waterproof eye pencil that offers professional performance. Soft and smooth application with rich color pay-off guaranteed to help you achieve the desired look, from a precise line to a perfect smudge for smoky eyes. The high content of moisturizing ingredients and natural antioxidants, marula oil, jojoba oil, candelilla and carnauba are excellent for sensitive skin.

I’m so happy that the eyeliner is brown and not black as I have quite a stash of black eyeliners. It comes with a sharpener too – which I love because I’m always misplacing my sharpener!

Shamanuti Seaweed Toner $10 USD for 1 oz, $28 USD for 4 oz

Petit Vour February 2019

Skin loves this delicious nutrient and mineral rich toner. It adjusts pH and refines the pores. It will nourish and hydrate the skin while removing any residual make-up or cleanser. Excellent to set makeup as well as a calming aftershave. Always carry this as a companion on long drives or airplane trips to give skin a refresher along your travels. Suitable for all skin types.

I love, love, love facial toner mists. Very excited to try it out!

EiR NYC Tough Love Cuticle Balm $14 USD for 0.5 oz

Petit Vour February 2019

We all need to feel the soothing warmth of love and some of our rough and scratchy patches need it even more. The Neem oil used in the Tough Love softening salve is known to have antifungal and antiseptic properties. Improves elasticity for rough skin, feet, elbows, and cuticles that need some extra love.

I really use cuticle balms – especially in the winter, my hands and cuticles get so dry!

Formulary 55 Sea Mineral Foot Soak $7 USD for 1.5 oz

Petit Vour February 2019

Perfect for tired feet, this fizzing foot soak is a wonderful way to end a long day. This peppermint and eucalyptus effervescent foot soak is made with pure essential oils and Dead Sea mineral salts.

Buck Naked Soap Company Himalayan Salt Soak & Avocado Soap Reviews

Buck Naked Soap Company Avocado Soap & Himalayan Salt Soak

Hello, hello!

Today I have review of two products from Buck Naked Soap Company that I recently purchased from well.ca – the Himalayan Salt Soak and the Avocado Soap [info in italics taken from the Buck Naked Soap Company website].

Buck Naked Soap Company Avocado Soap & Himalayan Salt Soak

If you remember, back in October, I had previously reviewed a few things that were sent to me as a PR package from Buck Naked Soap Company (Himalayan Salt Soap, Geranium & Purple Clay Sugar Scrub and the Natural Lotion Bar), and I loved them so much that I wanted to try more!

First up, the Himalayan Salt Soak:

Buck Naked Soap Company Himalayan Salt Soak

Mined from ancient sea beds in the Himalaya, this mineral-rich salt is thought to be the purest available. Including over 84 minerals and trace elements to nurture balance, our soak helps maintain skin’s moisture and can be used to stimulate circulation and relax and soothe sore muscles. The unique ionic energy from Himalayan salt also helps draw toxins from the body.

Buck Naked Soap Company Himalayan Salt Soak

The Himalayan Salt Soak is beautiful. I especially like using this for a nice long soak after my morning yoga practice (if I have the time) as it helps with muscle recovery and circulation. My skin is super soft after using this!

Next up, the Avocado Soap:

Buck Naked Soap Company Avocado Soap

Relaxing | Antioxidants | Luxurious. Avocado oil is rich in proteins and nutrients that help soothe and moisturize skin. Vitamins A, D and E, as well as lecithin and potassium – “the youth mineral” – also work to repair dehydrated, rough and itchy skin while reducing the appearance of inflammation. Ideal for normal to dry skin.

Ingredients: Elaeis Guineensis, Aqua, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Olea Europea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado), Sodium Hydroxide, Essential Oil, Tocopherol

Buck Naked Soap Company Avocado Soap

This is a super hydrating and gentle soap, perfect for sensitive skin! It lathers well and has a very mild scent.

Kaia Naturals The Underarm Bar Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing The Underarm Bar from Kaia Naturals that came in my January Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

KaiaNaturals UnderarmBar1

Transforms any natural deodorant into extra strength protection. Formulated with apple cider vinegar and activated charcoal to create a protective barrier against odor-causing bacteria. Use the bar on your underarms prior to applying natural deodorant for extra odor protection on those extra sweaty days.

Usage: Moisten the bar, and create a paste. Apply to odorous areas (underarms, feet, etc) in a circular motion. Leave on for 30 seconds before rinsing. Use daily with The Takesumi Detox Deodorant.

Kaia Naturals The Underarm Bar

I’ve been using the Underarm Bar for two weeks, with natural deodorants. Unfortunately I don’t own the Takesumi Detox Deodorant yet, but I plan on buying one after I use up my current stash. I’ve been testing it with my Native Deodorants – both the regular and sensitive formulas.

Kaia Naturals The Underarm Bar

So how does it measure up?

THIS STUFF IS FREAKING AWESOME! It makes my baking soda free deodorant last until I shower the next day. Baking soda free deodorants tend to not be a long lasting for me, but I try to use them on days that I’m working from home to give my sensitive underarm skin a break from the baking soda in my regular natural deodorant.

I really think that with this bar, I am going to be able to start exclusively using a baking soda free deodorant! How awesome is that?

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil), Olea Europaea (Olive Oil), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Pyrus Malus (Apple) Vinegar, Sodium Chloride (Sea Salt), Carbo Activatus (Activated Charcoal), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Camphor, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil.

Disclosure: This came in my Petit Vour subscription box that I pay for.

Empties January 2019

Hello, hello!

I’m still working my way through my stash and using things up. I managed to finish up a few things this month. Let’s take a look and I’ll let you know if I’ve repurchased or not, or if I plan on repurchasing eventually, and I’ll include a link to the original review(s).

Empties January 2019

Native Deodorant in Lavender Rose and Cedar Sea Salt – Both myself and the mister finished our first natural deodorant sticks from Native. I’ve already purchased replacements, but this time in Hibiscus and Mint for me, and Eucalyptus and Mint for him. I’m also alternating using the sensitive formula in Cotton and Lily scent. Reviews are here and here.

LaCoupe Moroccan Rose Volume Loving Shampoo & Conditioner – This set took me six months to finish up because I can’t use it all the time as I need more hydration for my hair, nor did not give my hair any added volume – both of which I need in the winter time. I won’t be repurchasing as I have a few other shampoo & conditioner sets in my stash to use up. Review is here.

Empties January 2019

Nyx HD Concealer in Porcelain – I’ve purchased this several times since my original review in 2015, and will probably purchase it again once I use up the concealers in my stash.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara – This got lost in my stash, and I’ve had it open for too long. It wasn’t the one for me as it didn’t hold a curl for my stick straight lashes so I won’t purchase this one. Review is here.

Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm – I love this cleansing balm, and plan to repurchase once I finish up another cleanser in my stash. It is super gentle and removes makeup really well (even waterproof mascara). Review is here.

Goldfaden MD Brightening Elixir / Antioxidant Serum – I really liked this serum sample from December’s Petit Vour box and would love to own a full size. But I have a few serums in my stash to use up, so it is going on my wishlist for now. Review is here.

Maison Jacynthe Eau Florale de Rose *PR sample –  I love facial mists / toners. This one is beautiful and a definite wishlist item for me as I have a few facial toners / mists to use up in my stash. I actually finished this one up a few months ago, but the bottle was hidden in my refrigerator so it kept getting left out of my monthly empties. Review is here.

Did you finish up much this month?
