Vegamour Enso Trio Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have a review of a new hair care from Vegamour that was sent for me to try out – the Enso smart haircare line [info in italics taken from the Vegamour website]

Vegamour Enso 02 Trio

The first smart hair care system customized just for you.

Designed for the unique needs of fine, medium or thick hair, ENSŌ’s intuitive technology instantly adjusts to hair on contact, helping to provide ideal amounts of moisture, volume and protection, while enhancing color and shine.

The Enso line has three levels – 01 for fine hair, 02 for medium hair, and 03 for thick hair. Although I often describe my hair as being thick, it is actually closer to medium in texture, but I have a lot of it (high density), so I decided to choose to try the 02 Cleanse, Nourish and Restore Trio for Medium Hair (shampoo, conditioner, and overnight mask).

Vegamour Enso 02 Trio

This sulfate-free, color-safe system’s intuitive technology, powered by Karmatin™, instantly adjusts to hair on contact, helping to provide ideal amounts of moisture, volume, repair and protection, while enhancing color and shine. ENSO Overnight Restoring Mask deeply hydrates, reduces frizz, enhances color and shine, and helps protect color treated or heat damaged hair, restoring hair’s healthy appearance.

Vegamour Enso 02 Trio - Shampoo and Conditioner for Medium Hair

The scent, an aromatherapeutic blend of all-natural Jasmine, Ylang Ylang and Yuzu is scientifically engineered to boost mood, help alleviate anxiety and promote an overall sense of lasting well-being. It is a beautiful blend. I’m not usually a fan of jasmine, but this combination works!

The shampoo lathers really well for a sulfate free formula, and the conditioner gives a perfect amount of hydration. My hair feels clean, soft and hydrated – not weighed down, not dried out, and no residue feeling. Beautiful and luxurious!

Vegamour Enso 02 Trio - Overnight Restoring Mask

The Overnight Restoring Mask is divine. Great for a weekly, or bi-weekly moisture boost. My hair is super hydrated and silky after using. I will admit that I use it in the daytime (and not overnight) if I’m working from home and don’t have to be on camera for a virtual meeting.

This is such a beautiful haircare line. It’s also vegan and cruelty free.

Have you tried this brand?

Dyson Supersonic HairDryer and Quo Beauty Double Ceramic Round Brush Review

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and Quo Beauty Double Ceramic Large Round Brush

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

I’m finally getting around to reviewing my Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer – it was a birthday gift from 2021 from the Mister and my parents – I think it is time to give my opinion since I’ve been using it for over a year now!

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer

A bit of a back story – I used to buy a cheap hairdryer, and had to replace it every year or two. It always took FOREVER to dry my shoulder length (sometimes longer) fairly thick hair. Then I made an upgrade to a T3 Featherweight – which lasted for over ten years before it needed to be replaced. The T3 Featherweight, although faster than my previous hairdryers, still took a long time to dry my hair.

Now back to the Dyson. I don’t always blow dry my hair every time I wash it, but when I do, I want it to be as fast as possible – and I always use a heat protectant product to minimize damage. [info in italics taken from the Sephora Canada website]

What it is: A hair dryer that dries hair fast with no extreme heat

What Else You Need to Know:
– Includes a range of attachments designed to style different types of hair
– Magnetic styling attachments for easy fitting and 360° rotation
– Intelligent heat control helps protect your shine: Air temperature is measured 40 times every second, keeping the temperature under control
– Air Multiplier™ technology amplifies air by three times for faster drying
– Acoustically Tuned: The powerful motor is tuned to produce one inaudible frequency, and it’s enveloped by a vibration-reduction system

– Three precise speed settings: High for fast drying and styling, medium for regular drying, low for diffusing
– Four precise heat settings: 100°C fast drying and styling, 80°C regular drying, 60°C cooler drying and diffusing, 28°C constant cold
– Cold shot: 28°C cold shot sets your hair after styling

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Presentation Case

When I got my Supersonic, there was a promotion to get the Presentation Case and an extra attachment (or two) – so I have the Supersonic dryer, the presentation case, two different concentrator nozzles, the diffuser, and the wide tooth comb attachment. There is a new flyaway attachment that came out recently that I’d like to get.

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Attachments

I like that this hair dryer is small and lightweight. It is also not super noisy. It is easy to adjust between settings. And the attachments swap out easily as they’re magnetic. The cord is also really long which I so appreciate!

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Attachments Presentation Case

I mainly use the larger concentrator nozzle or the diffuser – depending on if I want to dry my hair straight or wavy / curly. And if I only want to dry my hair in a hurry (no careful blowout), I can do it in 12 MINUTES – compared to my old hair dryer which took a minimum of 45 minutes and even then it wasn’t 100% dry. So for me it is worth it.

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and Quo Beauty Double Ceramic Large Round Brush

I never store my hair dryer in the case, it is usually sitting next to the case on my dresser. I store the attachments and my brush in the case.

Also – a little review of the Quo Beauty Double Ceramic Large Round Brush [info in italics taken from the Shoppers Drug Mart website]

The double ceramic large round brush feature a ceramic round head for even heat & smoothing while blowdry styling. Head is also vented for quicker styling & heat distribution. In a trendy rose gold & white palette.

I had a natural boar bristle round brush a million years ago, and it ALWAYS got stuck in my hair no matter how careful I was when I used it. I decided to try a round brush again when I got my Dyson as my current hair stylist used one with her Dyson one of the times she cut my hair – so I really watched her technique and have tried to replicate it. The Quo brush is really nice and light weight, and does work well when I want to try to do a salon style blowout – I’m still working on my technique, but it shows promising results so far. And most importantly, it doesn’t get stuck in my hair.

Have you tried either the Dyson Supersonic or the Quo Double Ceramic Large Round Brush?

EVOLVh SmartCurl Leave-In Conditioner Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have a little review of the EVOLVh SmartCurl Leave-In Conditioner. EVOLVh is one of my favourite hair care brands, and I’ve tried a lot of their products – both gifted and self-purchased – so when I was asked if I wanted to the one of their Leave-In Conditioners, of course I said yes! I chose the SmartCurl Leave-In Conditioner. [info in italics taken from the EVOLVh website]

EVOLVh SmartCurl Leave In Conditioner

This weightless wonder helps keep dry & frizzy curls on point. Powered by fatty acids-rich shea butter and coconut oil, this light-yet-hydrating formula strengthens strands, fends off flyaways and minimizes breakage while protecting hair from heat and UV damage. Finally, a leave-in conditioner for all curls types and low & high porosity hair,  that’s effective as it is easy.

EVOLVh SmartCurl Leave In Conditioner

This is one of those products that pretty much does it all – it hydrates, it detangles, it combats frizz, and it is a heat and UV protectant. And it does it all without making my hair feel heavy or gross.

EVOLVh SmartCurl Leave In Conditioner

I’ve previously tried and reviewed the SmartStart Leave-In Conditioner and the InstaVolume Elixir – both of which are great, it just depends on what your hair needs.

Have you tried this one?

Keratinworks Pinot Noir Deep Restore Mask Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

If you follow me on InstaGram you will have seen that I attended a Self Care Pampering virtual event hosted by Keratinworks and BlendPR. The attendees were sent a Self Care Pampering kit with loads of treats. Today I’m reviewing the Keratinworks Pinot Noir Deep Restore Mask [info in italics taken from the Keratinworks website]

Keratinworks Pinot Noir Deep Restore Mask

This mask, made with all the natural nutrients, is for the finalization and on-going maintenance to our TANINUTRA THERAPY system. It enhances the results by reinforcing excellent anti-frizz action, progressive damage repair, luxurious shine and silkiness, and by promoting natural movement and healthy hair.

Keratinworks Pinot Noir Deep Restore Mask

I had the Keratinworks in-salon smoothing treatment treatment done in early February (read about it here), so my hair is not currently having any issues with frizz, but because I am well overdue for a trim, my ends are on the dry side, and this mask works wonders to make my hair feel silky, healthy, and it doesn’t weigh my hair down. It has a different scent than the Keratinworks Pure line (reviewed here) – I’m not quite sure how to describe the scent, but it is pleasant, and spa-like.

Have you tried this hair mask? Are you a hair mask lover?

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Skincare

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have my empties that I’ve accumulated over the past six months. There actually should be more, but I think that a few things got misplaced or recycled.

Skincare:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Skincare

Made for Me Hydrating Moisturizer and Brightening C Serum (*PR Gifted) – Both the moisturizer and serum are amazing, and I’d would highly recommend both of them. I have a bunch of serums and moisturizers to use up in my stash, but I would purchase these. Reviews are here.

Haircare:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Haircare

Garnier Fructis Hydrating Treat Conditioner (Aloe Extract) – This is a great budget friendly conditioner. I would re-purchase this eventually – but right now I’m committed to using the Keratinworks line to maintain my hair post salon treatment. Review is here.

EVOLVh Smart Start Leave-In Conditioner (*PR Gifted) and Ultrashine Moisture Shampoo – Both are amazing, and I could see myself purchasing eventually. Reviews are here and here.

Kristin Ess Beach Wave Spray – This is a great product for enhancing my wavy hair and giving it that beachy wave effect. I would re-purchase eventually. Review is here.

Noughty To The Rescue Intense Moisture Treatment – An awesome budget friendly hair mask – I loved this, and would likely repurchase. Review is here.

Bath and Body:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Bodycare

Haus of Gloi Lily Cake Bubbling Scrub (*This was birthday gift) – I love the bubbling scrubs from Haus of Gloi. I’ve purchased them many times over the years in different scents, and will do so again eventually.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Body Cream – I’ve purchased this several times, and will do so again eventually. It is such an amazing body cream. Review is here.

Naturewell Hydrolyzed Collagen Moisture Cream (*PR gifted) – Another amazing body cream. Great for winter dryness. I would purchase this one as it is super effective and budget friendly. Review is here.

Lowen’s Natural Skincare Salt of the Earth Sea Salt Scrub – I would definitely re-purchase this body scrub. It smells amazing, its super hydrating, and exfoliates really well. Review is here.

Makeup:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Makeup

Flower Beauty Warrior Princess Mascara – I liked this mascara, scored it a 6.25 out of 7. It was good, but not holy grail for me. Review is here.

Essence Cosmetics Bye Bye Panda Eyes! and #Lashes of the Day Mascaras – Bye Bye Panda Eyes I scored 6.25 out of 7, but I found that this mascara got better over time. I would buy this one again, because it improved, so I’d increase the score to 6.75 out of 7. Lashes of the day scored higher at 6.5 out of 7, but it didn’t get any better over time, so I don’t think I would repurchase. Reviews are here and here.

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara – This mascara scored a 6 out of 7. It was good, but not great for me. I’ve tried and liked other Covergirl mascaras better. Review is here.

So did you finish up many products over the past couple of months?

Two Week Update – Post Keratinworks Salon Botox Hair Treatment

Feb 19 2022 - two weeks post Keratinworks treatment

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Two weeks ago I was hosted by the Annie Young Boutique Spa and Keratinworks to have an in salon Keratinworks Treatment. You can read all about it here.

This photo is after one week and two washes:

Feb 12, 2022 - One week post Keratinworks treatment

As you can see, my waves haven’t fully returned yet, but there is no frizz! And my hair takes half the usual time to blow it dry with my Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer.

This second photo is after two weeks and another two washes:

Feb 19 2022 - two weeks post Keratinworks treatment

My waves are starting to return – YAY! But without my usual halo of frizz. In this photo, my hair was air dried to see if there would be any frizz.

Pretty great right? I’m loving my hair!

Keratinworks Salon Treatment / Annie Young Boutique Spa Experience

Keratinworks Pure

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

If you’ve been following my blog since last year, you will remember that I had been gifted a PR package from Keratinworks of their Keratinworks Pure product line (review is here). I’ve been using the entire product line since then, so I was super excited when BlendPR / Keratinworks reached out to invite me to have a Keratinworks Salon Treatment, hosted by the Annie Young Boutique Spa in Westmount.

I had not been to the Annie Young Boutique Spa before. It is such a beautiful space, and the staff there are so welcoming and so friendly! They do hair, manicure / pedicure, facials, massage, makeup – they do it all!

Let’s take a look at the Keratinworks Salon Treatment [infographic from Keratinworks PR kit / BlendPR].

Keratinworks Salon Treatment Info

There are three techniques – Botox, Classic and Super Smooth – depending on the level of volume reduction / smoothing that your hair needs. Because I prefer to wear my hair wavy, we chose the Botox Technique as it would allow me to keep my waves, while still eliminating frizz.

In my excitement, I only remembered to take one quick before photo – my hair had been blow dried with my Dyson and diffuser attachment, and minimal product – so that the salon could see my hair in its natural state and texture. Please note – I am in the process of growing out hair dye, and I’m due for a haircut.

Before Keratinworks Treatment

Emily applied my treatment, and explained the process each step of the way which I loved. First my hair was washed to remove any styling / product from my hair, before applying the Keratinworks Treatment from root to tip. Then my hair was wrapped in plastic, and I sat under the Processor / heat machine for approximately 45 minutes.

During Keratinworks Treatment

The plastic is then removed, and my hair was left to cool – maybe 10 minutes – I was reading a book so I’m not 100% sure how long the cool down took.

During Keratinworks Treatment

Next the treatment was partially rinsed out of my hair (about 20% should remain in the hair at this point).

During Keratinworks Treatment

Next, my hair was combed through and dried before “heat setting” the treatment with a flatiron passed a number of times over each section of my hair.

After Keratinworks Treatment

The entire process from start to finish took roughly three hours, and if taken care of, the results should last anywhere from 3 to 4 months, and in come cases, as long as 6 months!

After Keratinworks Treatment

They recommend using the Keratinworks Pure line as aftercare, and to avoid any hair products with sulfates, as they will ruin the results / cause the treatment to wear off quickly.

Keratinworks Pure

I was gifted the Keratinworks Pure line (shampoo, conditioner, hydrating hair mask, Liss BB-Cream and Crystal Serum) for after treatment care – which is wonderful because I absolutely love the products!

The first and most important aftercare advice was to wait at least 48 hours before washing my hair. I will post again with my results after washing and styling it myself as few times to let you all know how my waves behave.

Have you tried this salon treatment?

Keratinworks Pure Haircare Review

Keratinworks Pure

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude! Today I have a review of the wonderful PR package that I received from Keratinworks and BlendPR. The package is of the entire newly launched Keratinworks Pure Haircare line which includes the Keratinworks Pure Shampoo & Conditioner, the Keratinworks Pure Liss BB-Cream, the Keratinworks Pure Crystal Serum and the Keratinworks Smoothing System Hydrating Mask! Keratinworks is a woman-owned Canadian company, based in Montreal. Their line is sulfate and paraben free, colour safe, cruelty-free and vegan [info in italics taken from the Keratinworks website].

Keratinworks Pure

I’ve been using the entire product line since it arrived. The products all work together to help nurture my frizz prone hair, leaving me with hair that feels clean, soft and silky, and so much more manageable and smooth. And the shine is out of this world! I love this line.

Let’s take a look at each product, starting with the Pure Shampoo and Conditioner:

Keratinworks Pure

The KERATINWORKS PURE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER have been formulated to infuse your hair with pure, natural, and essential nutrients that will maintain your hair’s health, shine, and hydration while ensuring the optimal pH level for luxurious smoothness. Enriched with coconut water and oil, Vitamins A, B1, B2, C and E. This exclusive formula is SLS FREE, PARABEN FREE, VEGAN,  and COLOR SAFE. It also contains keratin proteins and amino acids that will reinforce as well as prolong the effects of your KERATINWORKS treatment.

The Pure Shampoo & Conditioner add hydration without weighing my hair down. The shampoo doesn’t lather up super well which is common for sulfate free formulas, but it does a great job making my hair feel clean and hydrated. Both the shampoo & conditioner have a really beautiful scent – and not over-scented at all.

Up next is the Pure Liss BB-Cream:

Keratinworks Pure Liss BB-Cream

KERATINWORKS PURE LISS BB-CREAM is the ultimate multipurpose leave-in conditioner. This pure and natural ingredient combination will provide hydration, conditioning, heat-protection, damage repair, frizz control, shine and luxurious smooth silkiness. It’s the perfect extension to your KERATINWORKS treatment. It will also provide on-going treatment as well as anti-frizz action during humidity and for blow dry styling. Oh and don’t forget the OMG irresistible fragrance!

I really love this BB-Cream, it conditions and adds heat protection, and helps tame frizz – my biggest hair problem! The scent is a little more pronounced than the shampoo & conditioner, but again, as someone who doesn’t enjoy over-scented products, it isn’t that level of scent power. The scent differs from the shampoo & conditioner, this one has slightly spicy notes.

The Pure Crystal Serum:

Keratinworks Pure Crystal Serum

Lastly, the KERATINWORKS PURE CRYSTAL SERUM is the finishing touch that is packed with pure, natural, and essential nutrients that will boost your hair’s shine and brilliance. Vitamin E, Coconut Oil, amino acids, berry extracts and plant-based keratin work together to nourish and protect your hair. Add the final sparkle and the OMG fabulous fragrance to your hair!

The Serum is the finishing touch for my hair. It seals in the shine, and also helps keep my hair smooth and frizz-free. It has the same scent as the BB Cream.

The Pure Liss BB-Cream and Pure Crystal Serum can be applied together, or separately – where you apply the BB Cream, then dry and style your hair, followed by the Pure Crystal Serum. I’ve tried it both ways – I prefer to mix them together if I’m air drying my hair, and separately if I’m using my Dyson hair dryer.

Let’s not forget the Hydrating Mask:

Keratinworks Pure Mini Hydrating Mask

This hydrating mask restores the natural pH of hair with its formulation rich in vitamins E, F and conditioning agents that provide extreme softness, shine and hydration to the hair.

The Hydrating Mask is a super luxe treatment mask and should be used once or twice a month, leaving it on for 30 to 45 minutes. I LOVE hair masks – especially when my hair needs a hydration boost.

Keratinworks Pure

Keratinworks also has a Pure Violet Shampoo and Hydrating Mask formulated for blondes.

Garnier Fructis Hydrating Hair Treat Aloe Conditioner Review

Garnier Fructis Hydrating Hair Treat Aloe Conditioner

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Garnier Fructis Hydrating Hair Treat Aloe Conditioner

Today I’m reviewing the Garnier Fructis Hydrating Hair Treat Aloe Conditioner. Normally I tend to buy matching shampoo and conditioner sets, but only purchased the conditioner as I have a few shampoos in my stash to use up. [info in italics taken from the Garnier Canada website]

Garnier Fructis Hydrating Hair Treat Aloe Conditioner

Introducing NEW Fructis Treats Shampoos & Conditioners. Free of silicones, parabens, and artificial colorants, our new Treats Shampoos & Conditioners are formulated with 98% naturally-derived ingredients*. Our formulas are vegan with no animal-derived ingredients. Coconut-derived cleansing and conditioning agents create a lather that is powerful yet gentle on hair. When used together, Treats Shampoo and Conditioner nourish and detangle, resulting in hair that is soft, nourished and shiny.

Garnier Fructis Hydrating Hair Treat Aloe Conditioner

I chose the Hydrating Hair Treat Aloe Conditioner, as it it supposed to add hydration without weighing the hair down.

Rich in Vitamins A, B, C and E, Aloe’s hydrating properties make it a popular ingredient in skin care formulas that help to soothe and moisturize, and hair products that promote healthy shine.

Garnier Fructis Hydrating Hair Treat Aloe Conditioner

I like this conditioner a lot, it hydrates well, and isn’t over-scented. The scent is clean, but not flowery, and it isn’t citrusy either, I’m really not sure how to describe it! It makes my hair easier to detangle, and makes it soft and shiny.

Have you tried this conditioner?
