EVOLVh DreamGel Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

EVOLVh DreamGel

Today I’m reviewing the newly launched DreamGel Strong Hold Styler from EVOLVh that I received from their PR Team. Even though I haven’t used hair gel in a million years, I was curious to try as I’ve loved everything I’ve ever tried from the brand! I received it before the launch date to test it out. [info in italics taken from their press release]

DreamGel is hair gel reinvented. This modern gel does it all: hold, volume, texture, shine, smoothing, definition and control. It leaves hair soft and touchable, and the performance lasts for 2-3 days and beyond

DreamGel contains tapioca starch which absorbs excess oils for extending time between washes and amino acids which strengthen strands to reduce splitting and breakage, making it not only a remarkable styler but a strengthening treatment too.

EVOLVh DreamGel

The DreamGel is nothing like the hair gel of the past! It doesn’t make my hair feel heavy, greasy or crunchy – even when I let it air dry. And when I use my Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, I can use it to either do my hair smooth, or wavy. The hold is firm but not hard, and makes my hair shiny and less frizz prone. It has their signature grapefruit scent (uplifting and clean, and not over-scented or perfumey).

As an added plus, EVOLVh was kind enough to give me a 15 % off discount code for my readers that will be active on their website from September 9th to 12th – DREAM15 – this is not an affiliate code.

Empties – August 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have my empties for the month of August. I didn’t finish up a ton of things this month, but progress is progress when it comes to using things up, and not letting them go to waste. I’ll link you to my original reviews and let you know if I would purchase / re-purchase (eventually) or not.

Empties August 2021

Garnier Skinactive UltraLift Night Cream – Purchased by me. This was a nice night cream, super hydrating, but because it is so highly scented, I would not purchase it again – unless they made an unscented / fragrance free version.

Noughty To The Rescue Intense Moisture Treatment – Purchased by me. I love this hair mask, it has a light sweet almond scent (not over-scented), and makes my hair so soft and hydrated. I would buy this again eventually.

Sun Bum Mineral Tinted Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 30 Review – Purchased by me. I had this on my face about 80% of the time all summer, so yeah, I love it. I would buy this again.

Garnier Skinactive Clearly Brighter Even Tone Daily Moisturizer SPF30 – Purchased by me. I used this moisturizer with SPF daily all summer. It is lightweight, hydrating and non-greasy. It isn’t as highly scented as the night cream above. I do prefer mineral SPFs more, but would buy this in a pinch again.

Versed Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum – Purchased by me. This is a great “starter retinol”, super gentle. I might buy it again. I have a few retinol serums on my wishlist that I want to try.

So that’s it – everything that I managed to finish over the past month! Have you tried any of these products?

Cumulative Empties – May to July 2021 Part 2

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today we have part 2 of my cumulative empties from May to July – bath and body and haircare empties. I’ll let you know if I plan to eventually repurchase or not, and link to my original reviews.

Bath and body:

Empties May to Jul 2021

Haus of Gloi Bubbling Scrubs in Glow and Splendiferous – I was given a gift card for my birthday (from a dear friend) at the beginning of the pandemic, and these were two of the treats that I’d gotten with it. The Bubbling Scrubs are amazing – I’ve been purchasing these for longer than I’ve been blogging. Would definitely purchase again. I have a few more in my stash.

Lowen’s Natural Skincare Bubble Paste – I purchased this, but I have gotten PR from them in the past. Will definitely re-purchase this, it is amazing and only contains three ingredients!

NuWorld Botanicals Multi-Mineral Bath Soak in Meditation – I won this in a giveaway from NuWorld and Cat from MyLipAddiction, and I’ve gotten PR from NuWorld in the past. These bath salts are amazing, and I would purchase them. I’ve tried and reviewed the Stress Relief version of these salts.

Haircare:

Empties May to Jul 2021

Oneka Cedar & Sage Shampoo – This is a nice shampoo, but my hair is too dry these days, so I would not re-purchase this formula, but would likely try one geared for dry hair. The cedar scent is so good though.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Shine Shampoo & Conditioner – These were PR gifted. Really amazing. I wish that I could buy this brand here in Montreal.

Have you tried any of these?

Garnier Whole Blends Curl Care Shampoo + Conditioner Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Garnier Whole Blends Curl Care Sulfate Free Shampoo + Conditioner with Royal Hibiscus and Shea Butter. Since Garnier recently became a Leaping Bunny certified cruelty free brand, I’ve been trying out a few things. [info in italics taken from the Garnier Canada website]

Garnier Whole Blends Curl Care Shampoo and Conditioner

Experience up to 72 hours of deep care for curly hair. Blend in royal hibiscus to define curls and blend out sulfates and parabens. Sustainably sourced ingredients and bottle is made of 100% PCR and is recyclable. Blended for you. Blended for the environment.

The Curl Care Shampoo lathers really well considering that it is sulfate free. It hydrates my hair and makes it feel super clean and easier to manage.

Garnier Whole Blends Curl Care Shampoo and Conditioner

The 5-in-1 Curl Conditioner can be used in several different ways – 1. Pre-Wash Treatment, 2. Co-Wash, 3. Conditioner, 4. Combing Cream and 5. Leave-In Conditioner. I’ve only been using it as a traditional conditioner so far, and it leaves my hair feeling soft, less tangled, and hydrated without feeling weighed down or heavy. The conditioner is thick and rich.

Garnier Whole Blends Curl Care Shampoo and Conditioner

The scent is beautiful, and not overpowering, the shea butter scent is stronger to my nose than the hibiscus, but they’re both there. I also love that both the shampoo and conditioner have pump bottles, so much easier to deal with in the shower!

A great budget-friendly, drugstore option for wavy to curly hair!

Zion Health Scalp & Hair Scrub and Claydry Deodorant Reviews

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude! Today I am reviewing two products that were sent to me to try out from Zion Health / Adama Minerals, the Scalp & Hair Scrub and Claydry Deodorant [info in italics taken from the Zion Health website]

Let’s look at the Deep Cleansing Scalp & Hair Scrub in the Green Apple with Sea Salt formula:

Dissolve build-up. Balance pH levels. Restore lustre and integrity.

Bring fragile, processed hair back to life. The combination of gentle exfoliation and penetrating nutrients purifies the scalp to create the perfect environment for healthy, resilient hair to grow. While removing a range of impurities and excess oils, clay minerals and sea salt simultaneously stimulate the healing and protecting functions of skin cells. Each strand of hair will be left cleansed and deeply nourished, resulting in lasting shine and flexibility.

This is a really nice scalp and hair scrub, and it smells so fresh – the Green Apple scent is amazing! My scalp and hair feel super clean, but not stripped. Gentle yet effective! The recommended usage is once a week, but I tend to go a little longer between uses as I try to only wash my hair twice a week, so approximately every third or fourth wash I’ll use it.

Now let’s take a look at the Claydry Deodorant in the Elderberry scent, Bold formula:

EXTRA STRENGTH BOLD PROTECTION Absorb odor with ClayClayDry absorbs odor and toxins with a special type of healing clay called Calcium Montmorillonite Clay.

Ingredient Benefits: • Arrowroot has moisture absorbing properties. Arrowroot is anti-inflammatory and also can work as an antiseptic, making it perfect for irritated areas such as burns, rashes and sores.• Ionic Clay Minerals contain more than 57 trace minerals to help absorb odor and balance skin pH.• Witch Hazel is a natural astringent commonly used to help absorb excess oil from the skin.• Chamomile Extract contains natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.• Bergamot Oil is rich in minerals and Vitamin C; well known for its natural anti-bacterial properties.

Both myself and the Mister have been trying out the Claydry Deodorant. It works really well for both of us, and even though it has baking soda in it, it does not cause as much irritation for me as other baking soda based deodorants, likely due to the arrowroot and chamomile.

It kept me smelling great even after a sweaty cardio workout! The elderberry scent is really great, a unisex tart berry scent.

Zion Health / Adama Minerals has kindly given me a discount code for 10% off – the code is JODI and can be used on the Adama Minerals website.

Cumulative Empties – March and April 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Can you believe that it is already May? Today I have my cumulative empties for March and April. I was *so* close to finishing up a few more things too, but I’m sure they’ll appear in my next empties post.

Skincare:

I think that I did great over the past two months to finish up so many things from my skincare stash!

Pure Savy Come Hell or High Water 3-In-1 Micellar Water *Cert Clean Jury Box 2019-2020* – I found this micellar water to be a little on the soapy side, but it worked really well for removing eye makeup. I have several eye makeup remover products in my stash, so I don’t need to even think about purchasing this.

Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel Cream – *I purchased this* I loved this light gel moisturizer. I would likely repurchase this one as it played so well with makeup. A great day moisturizer for my normal to dry skin. Review

Sothys Hydra3Ha Hydrating Comfort Cream *PR package* – This was great for the cold winter weather when my skin needed extra hydration at night. It is a little more scented that my personal preference. Review

Poetic Blend The Hero Oil and The Ghost Oil *Giveaway Prize win* – I loved both of these facial oils. I think that the brand is on hiatus (if someone knows for sure, please let me know) so I don’t think that I could purchase. Review and review

Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk *Subscription Box* – This was such a lovely creamy cleanser. I would purchase this if I didn’t have a few more cream based cleansers to finish up. Review

Be On Me Cleansing Mousse Sensitive Skin *PR package* – I loved this foaming cleanser, it was super gentle but super effective. I would purchase this once I use up a few more cleansers from my stash. Review

Lowen’s Make Room Balm *PR package* – This is a balm for stretch marks and scars, but I used it all winter on my poor dry hands, and it worked amazingly well. Their balms are really great, would definitely need one in my stash before winter! Review

Haircare:

I only managed to finish up two haircare products, but progress is progress.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Conditioner *PR package* – This was an amazing conditioner, it worked really well for hydrating my hair. I would love to try more from this brand – hopefully they will be selling in Canada at some point. Review

EVOLVh UltraShine Moisture Conditioner *I purchased this, but I’ve also received PR from the brand before* – Such an amazing conditioner. It hydrates, it smells amazing. I’d buy this again. I’m almost finished the matching shampoo. Review

There you have it! Everything that I’ve finished over the last two months. Have you finished up much lately?

Crüe Cosmetics Fast Growth Treatment Bundle – Neptüne Hydrating Oil Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the part of the Fast Growth Treatment Bundle from Quebec based company, Crüe Cosmetics. I’ve been following this brand on Instagram for awhile and decided to purchase the Fast Growth Treatment Bundle out after reading a few of their blog posts about hair care. [info in italics taken from the Crüe Cosmetics website]

Crüe Cosmetics is a Montreal based company that specializes in the creation of products that are all natural, organic and vegan. The process involves the infusion of herbs and essential oils in order to produce highly efficient holistic products that are safe to use on hair and skin. We are passionate about delivering natural alternatives to hair and skin care and our products are all crafted and packaged by hand to maximize quality. We do not test on animals nor do we use any animal byproducts because we believe that within nature lies the cure to any ailment and we strive to use these solutions to help our customers. At Crüe Cosmetics, your beauty is in the hands of nature.

The Fast Growth Bundle is comprised of L’Ör Growth Serum and Neptüne Hydrating Oil. The serum is used on the scalp, and the oil is used on the hair for optimum healthy hair growth. I’ve been using them both for about two months now, so I feel ready to review them. Let’s take a look at the hydrating oil. I’ve already reviewed the Growth Serum here.

Neptüne Hydrating Oil

Neptüne Hydrating oil is a very versatile grape seed oil based product meant to be used on your hair, face and body. Grape seed oil contains more linoleic acid than most carrier oils and is full of emollients and nutrients which make it ideal for moisturizing and conditioning dry hair, reducing dandruff and dermatitis, and aid in the nurturing and growth of healthy skin cells. Burdock Root and Nettle leaf are well known for their ability to cure skin and hair issues such as dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, dandruff and dermatitis. We’ve added the anti-inflammatory, anti-septic and anti-bacterial benefits of Lavender, Geranium, Black Pepper, Patchouli and Peppermint to further assist in strengthening of follicles, stimulating healthy hair growth and to treat wrinkles, unclog pores, remove blemishes and treat acne. With its many uses and benefits, Neptüne Hydrating oil is bound to become a staple in the care routine of anyone desiring beautiful hair and skin.

This oil can used used on hair, face and body. I’ve mainly used it on my hair and I have to say that I’m so in love with this one – it makes my hair so incredibly soft and shiny. The scent is beautiful, very earthy / herbal which I absolutely love! If the ends of my hair feel a little dry on my “Next Day Hair”, I just apply a little extra to the ends. It also works great to control frizz.

Just this week I decided to try a little bit of the Hydrating Oil on an irritated patch of skin in my underarm (which is either eczema, or reaction caused by baking soda in one of my deodorants) and the redness is nearly gone. Nothing I’ve tried has worked so quickly to reduce irritation! Powerful stuff.

Needless to say, I love the Neptüne Hydrating Oil!

Crüe Cosmetics Fast Growth Treatment Bundle – L’Ör Growth Serum Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the part of the Fast Growth Treatment Bundle from Quebec based company, Crüe Cosmetics. I’ve been following this brand on Instagram for awhile and decided to purchase the Fast Growth Treatment Bundle out after reading a few of their blog posts about hair care. [info in italics taken from the Crüe Cosmetics website]

Let’s take a look at the scalp serum:

L’Ör Growth Serum

L’Ör Growth Serum is a castor oil based serum infused with a special blend of herbs and organic essential oils such as: Ginger, Garlic, Black Pepper, Vetiver and Onion. These oils penetrate deep within the scalp to stimulate hair growth and maintain healthy hair and scalp. We also added 100% pure Rose essential oil and Sandalwood to assist in cooling the scalp and help treat and prevent dandruff. Castor oil has been used for centuries to improve hair growth due to its high ricinoleic acid content which balances the scalp’s pH level and increases circulation to the scalp. This unique combination of natural organic ingredients will improve the overall quality of your hair while accelerating hair growth.

I use the scalp serum once a week, sometimes once every week and a half. My scalp is very sensitive, and I find that it has been so much less easily irritated since I started using it. I also have a bunch of new hair growth – baby hairs. My hair tends to grow fairly quickly normally, but these days it seems like it is growing even faster! It does smell more like garlic and onions to my nose than vetiver, rose or sandalwood – but rinsing with apple cider vinegar after washing keeps the scent from sticking around, and gives my hair a crazy amount of shine!

I’ll be reviewing the Neptüne Hydrating Oil in a separate post this week!

Jamella, the owner of Crüe Cosmetics, calls each and every one of her customers and offers a hair consultation, and asks for feedback on the products. A very personal touch, one that I really appreciated!

Once I use up my current stash of hair masks, I’d like to try the Angëlia Hair Mask.

Shea Moisture Silicone Free Miracle Styler Leave-In Treatment Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

I’ve been mega busy with work deadlines, sorry for the delay in reviews – today I have a review of the Shea Moisture Silicone Free Miracle Styler Leave-In Treatment. I purchased it recently because I got the Dyson Super Sonic Hair Dryer for my birthday (which I will review soon) and needed a heat protectant product. [info in italics taken from the Shea Moisture website]

Miracles do happen! SheaMoisture Sugarcane Extract & Meadowfoam Seed Silicone Free Miracle Styler Leave-in Treatment does it all; detangles, nourishes dry hair, softens, cuts drying time, adds shine, smoothes and is enhanced with an anti frizz formula, adds silkiness, and helps to protect against thermal and environmental damage. Made with a blend of Sugarcane, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Marshmallow Root, and nourishing botanicals, this high-slip formula is great for tangle-free, manageability and hair health. Leaves hair smooth, soft and lustrous.

This is a really great multi-purpose hair product. It makes my hair so soft, and really does help control frizz. It also works great for refreshing “next day hair”. This treatment can be used for both straight and wavy / curly styles. It doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it feel greasy or crunchy – just soft and smooth.

My only complaint is that I really dislike its scent – I can’t pinpoint exactly what it smells like, but it reminds me of a cheap men’s cologne. Thankfully the scent disappears after awhile.

Have you tried this one? Do you have a fave heat protectant product?
