Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!
Today I’m reviewing the Glowy Lip Balm from Quo Beauty – one of Shopper’s Drug Mart’s / Pharmaprix’s in-house beauty brands. If you follow me on InstaGram, you will have seen that this was part of a mini haul that I did earlier this month. [info in italics taken from the Shopper’s website]
Treat your lips to a sheer natural lip colour. Formulated with moisturizing rosehip seed oil & hyaluronic acid to help plump your lips over time. The formula reacts to your unique chemistry to provide your perfect shade.
I’m a lip balm addict as you probably know. And with mask wearing, I’ve barely work lipstick, but I always wear lip balm, and have been loving tinted lip balms lately. The Glowy Lip Balm is available in three shades: Blush 03, Coral 10 and Punch 27. I purchased the shade Punch, which turns into a pretty pinky shade on my lips. It is hydrating and very mildly plumping without the tingle.
The packaging is reminiscent of the Dior Addict Lip Glow – who am I kidding, it is a very much a knock-off of the Dior which has more shades, and costs $44 CAD versus $10 for the Quo Beauty version. I haven’t tried the Dior one, so I can’t comment on how they compare formula-wise.
Have you tried the Quo Beauty Glowy Lip Balm? Or the Dior Addict Lip Glow?
Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!
Today I’m reviewing the Three Ships Lip Treatment Kit that came in my Spring CAUSEBOX. As you all know, I adore lip products, so I had high hopes for this. [info in italics taken from the Three Ships website, and kit packaging]
Here’s a little bit of info about this Toronto based, Canadian brand:
We embrace this less is more mindset and use this philosophy to chart our course as a company. We believe you don’t need a long list of unnecessary ingredients in your skincare products, and you don’t need a 12 step skincare routine to achieve beautiful results.
[…]
Our goal was to solve the problems we faced as consumers and create the most effective and affordable natural skincare products available.
This is why every Three Ships product is made with 100% natural ingredients and is certified cruelty-free. It’s why nothing goes to market unless it has been scientifically proven to work. And it’s why all of our products will forever be under $40 USD.
The Three Ships Lip Treatment Kit is composed of the Vanilla Lip Exfoliator, and the Buttercream Hydrating Lip Mask. Let’s look at the Lip Exfoliator first:
This triple-action scrub exfoliates and conditions lips. Fine sugar crystals remove dry skin / flakes and make lips look plump and full while natural shea butter and oils hydrate and soothe. This scrub contains zero artificial colors and is naturally flavoured with vanilla.
This is a beautiful lip scrub, it mega exfoliates, but at the same time adds so much hydration. My lips are SO SMOOTH after I use this!
Now, let’s take a look at the Buttercream Hydrating Lip Mask:
Natural oils of sunflower, coconut and avocado deeply replenish moisture to dry lips. Use overnight for extra soft lips when you wake up.
As a lip balm addict, this lip mask is a DREAM! So hydrating. It can be used night and day!
The combination of the scrub and mask is the perfect recipe for achieving soft and smooth lips!
Have you tried this kit?

Disclosure: In case you missed it at the beginning, this kit came in my CAUSEBOX subscription box that I paid for.
Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!
Today I’m sharing my unboxing and first impressions of my Spring 2021 CAUSEBOX. If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen my unboxing, but here I share my first impressions, and total value of the subscription box. [info in italics taken from CAUSEBOX]
FIVE CORNERSTONES DEFINE EVERYTHING THAT WE DO AT CAUSEBOX. WE ARE: COMMUNITY FOCUSED, ETHICALLY MADE, ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS, FOR WOMEN, AND IMPACT DRIVEN.
This quarter’s artwork was done by Charlotte Molas.
I have a basic subscription, so I don’t get to choose the items that I receive. But I like the element of surprise.
All subscribers received the tote, in one of three colours – glacial grey, coastal stripe or sea blue. I received glacial grey. I was excited about this reusable shopping bag, it is a great size, has loads of pockets, and is sturdy and well made. I will be using this for groceries / errands.
Product 2 – Palm + Perkins Set of 4 Upcycled Napkins $38 USD
For the second product, there were three possibilities: the Upcycled Napkins, a Nimble CHAMP Lite Portable Charger, or the DIFF Charitable Eyewear Finn Sea Tortoise Blue Light Glasses. I received the napkins – they’re made from upcycled cotton and plastic water bottles – they feel almost like a linen blend fabric, they’ll be well used in our house as I needed to replace a few of the cloth napkins that we’ve had in rotation.
I would have liked to receive the portable charger as well, this is something that I would definitely use. The blue light glasses, not so much, as I wear prescription glasses (with the blue light filter).
Product 3 – This Works Stress Check Sleep Spray $25 USD
For the third product, all subscribers received this aromatherapy bed spray. It smells really nice, and I will definitely put it to use.
Product 4 – Glass Ladder & Co Katherine Tech Organizer Roll $35
For the fourth product there were three possibilities: the Tech Organizer Roll, the Stojo Collapsible 16 oz cup, or Maji Sports Stretch & Exercise Bands. I received the Tech Organizer which I will definitely use, because I hate having all my chargers get tangled up, or misplaced.
I also would have liked to get either the travel cup or exercise bands, and would have used both.
Product 5 – Three Ships Lip Treatment Kit $30 USD
For the fifth product there there three possibilities: the Lip Kit, a PUR Lit Mist Illuminating Setting Spray, or a Province Apothecary Regenerating Exfoliator + Resurfacing Mask. I received the Lip Kit and as a lip balm addict, I couldn’t be more thrilled. It contains a lip scrub and a lip mask.
I also would not have minded getting either of the two alternates, but the Lip Kit was made for me!
Product 6 – Adesse New York Power Couple Nail Care Duo $36 USD
All subscribers received the nail care duo. It contains a Nail Growth Optimizer and a Cuticle Oil. Because of the past year of constant hand washing and hand sanitizer use, my nails need strengthening and hydration, so this is perfect for me.
The Spring 2021 box cost me $62.90 USD ($54.95 + shipping to Canada) which works out to $81.89 CAD based on the exchange rate that I paid ($1.3019), so the value of this box is $272 USD which works out to $354.12 CAD! The yearly subscription which you pay in full works out to be cheaper per box and you get customization choices, but I’m liking the element of surprise so far!
I’m super happy with everything that I received! All are things that I will use. My only complaint is that it takes forever for the boxes to ship out!
Reviews to follow for the Sleep Spray, Lip Kit and Nail Care Duo once I’ve had a chance to try them out!
Hello, hello! Welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!
Today I’m reviewing the Lip Super Serum from Catrice that I recently purchased as a part of a small haul from Shoppers Drug Mart / Pharmaprix [info in italics taken from the Shoppers website].
Lip Boost! Catrice Volumizing Lip Balm with slightly cooling texture softly tingles and plumps upon application. • Plumps and adds lip volume • Not tested on animals *Can be worn alone or under lipstick Catrice Beauty Tip: Perfect product to layer under lipstick or lip gloss for a fuller lip look
I really don’t feel the cooling or tingle effect when I apply this lip serum, nor do I feel that it plumps my lips. However, I do feel that it hydrates nicely and is non-sticky. So as a smoothing and hydrating gloss it is a lovely lip oil type product, but as a plumper, I feel that it is a bit of a dud. I’ll definitely finish it up as I’m constantly applying balms / glosses / serums / oils in the winter as my lips get SO DRY!
Have you tried this one? Did it work for you? Do you have a fave cruelty free lip plumper?
Thanks for reading
Disclosure: I purchased this! My opinion is based on my user experience.
Today I’m reviewing the Lip Treatment from KVoss that came in my February Petit Vour box. I’ve gotten a few things from KVoss through my subscription and loved everything I’ve tried thus far! [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]
The perfect mix of a lip balm and a lip gloss, this one-of-a-kind lip treatment contains a luxurious and intensely reparative formula that works on contact to soften roughness, relieve discomfort and help rejuvenate seriously dry lips.
A potent concentration of Sunflower oil, Vitamin E and Shea butter renews the delicate lip area while strengthening lips’ moisture barrier to help prevent further damage.
Formulated with the unique KVoss™ pigment blend to give your lips a sheen that flatters every skin tone.
The Lip Treatment in available in two shades: Fig Macaroon and Papaya – I received Papaya. It smells very fruity – like real fruit and not synthetic. It is super moisturizing and fairly long wearing. The slight tint is very pretty as well, and it has a nice sheen on the lips.
Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Glycine Soja Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glyceryl Behenate/Eicosadioate, Candelilla (Euphorbia Cerifera) Wax, Sorbic Acid. Disclosure; This came in my Petit Vour subscription box that I pay for.
Another month of empties – I’m making slow but steady progress at using up the products in my stash! Becuase I’m on a low buy, I’ll let you know if I plan to re-purchase eventually, and link to my original reviews. Let’s take a look!
Skincare Empties:
Lowen’s Natural Skincare Classic Lime Margarita Lip Balm and In Yo Face! Natural BB Cream – these were both from an amazing PR package from Lowen’s – I LOVED both the lip balm and the BB Cream so much! I have a stash of lip balms and facial moisturizers to use up but would replace. Reviews are here and here.
Leahlani Bless Balm – this was from my Petit Vour subscription. I used it both as a lip balm and as a cuticle balm. It was really awesome. I have a few more multi-purpose balms in my stash to use up, so no need to replace just yet. Review was here.
Sothys Paris / Sothys Canada Hydra Smoothing Mask, Energizing Serum, and nO2ctuelle Detox Resurfacing Overnight Cream – all three of these were PR samples. All are excellent high end, spa quality skincare products, that despite being more scented than my personal preference, all worked well for my sensitive skin. I still have a few more masks, serums and moisturizers / creams to use up, so I do not need to replace these right now. Reviews are here, here and here.
Haircare, Makeup and Essential Oil Empties:
Briogeo Curl Charisma Defining Crème – I bought this ages ago (almost 2 years!), and I finally finished it! I really like this curl cream a lot, but have a few more hair products to use up, so I won’t be replacing right now. Review is here.
Now Essential Oils Cheer Up Buttercup! – I bought this last year I think. And the mister liked it so much, that he bought a replacement for me! I never did review this essential oil, but it is such a bright, sunshine-y citrus scent.
Nyx Total Control Drop Foundation – I really like serum type foundations because they feel so light on the skin. I’m currently using one from Juice Beauty and one from Nyx, so I won’t be replacing right now. Review is here.
Have you finished up much this past month? I’m super close to finishing up a shampoo, a conditioner, and two facial moisturizers already this month.
Thanks for reading
Disclosure: This empties post contains a mix of PR samples and products that I purchased myself (all identified above). My opinion is my own regardless!
My February Petit Vour box finally arrived on February 28th. I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out. [info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]
Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate @1.3586 my box cost me $31.25 CAD this month.

My moisturizer stash is getting low, so this came at the perfect time! I’ve really liked everything I’ve tried from Goldfaden MD, so I’m sure that this will be awesome!

I’ve had a few things from KVoss via Petit Vour, and I liked them all, and hello – lip balm addict here, so I’m super happy to try this one out!
Speak 09 Deodorant Cream – 1oz / 30g $12 USD
A gentle, yet effective natural deodorant with a creamy texture that glides on to give you satin-soft protection. An aluminium and baking soda-free formulation that’s great for sensitive skin.
Features arrowroot powder, kaolin clay and magnesium as odor neutralizers and excess sweat moppers. A combination of butters and oils keeps the delicate underarm area soft and healthy.
Lightly scented with lavender essential oil to keep you smelling fresh.
Hopefully this will work well for me. Natural deodorants with baking soda tend to work better for me, but sometimes irritate my skin, so having a baking soda free one will give my skin a break. I’ll let you know if this one works for me.

These sound awesome, I can’t wait to try them out!
This month’s box is worth a total of $59 USD which works out to $80.16 CAD. What do you think of this month’s box?
Today I’m reviewing The Green Fairy Hand & Lip Balm by MOA that came in my January Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]
Summon the spirit of The Green Fairy with this dual-purpose salvation balm. A non-greasy formula to soften dry cuticles, hands and lips. Caster oil, shea and cocoa butter provide a silky-smooth moisturizing base to soothe and condition. Candelilla wax provides a nourishing, protective coating, whilst stevia leaves a subtle, sweet taste on the lips. With yarrow extract and a magical blend of essential oils including, brightening grapefruit and lemon peel and aromatic peppermint, fennel and aniseed.
How cute is the tin packaging of this balm?
I’m a lip balm addict so I was excited to try this one out. It is super hydrating and not waxy, and smells amazing – I love the absinthe / aniseseed notes! This also works really well as a cuticle balm – something that I majorly need in the wintertime.
Today I’m reviewing the Bali Balm Bergamot & Grapefruit that came in my December Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]
Clean, crisp and citrusy fresh, this creamy lip balm gets its alluring aroma from the essential oils of bergamot and grapefruit. Bergamot oil is known to have both calming and uplifting effects, while the grapefruit acts as a purifying agent.
I am always super happy to see a lip balm in my monthly subscription box. The packaging is so luxe – it comes in a beautiful box.
The lip balm itself is really great and both smells and tastes divine! It is super hydrating and smooth on the lips. It will be well used this winter!
