Inkling Scents Roll-On Perfume Review in Sultry

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Inkling Scents Roll-On Perfume in Sultry that came in my March Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Inkling Scents Sultry

Wearing this smooth fragrance is the art of seduction. The base is creamy sandalwood and white amber, the heart is lotus flower, orchid and Bulgarian rose, while the top is silky vanilla. The blend is provocative, but clean. This mix is deep and rich enough to leave you with a sense of pleasure.

This sounds like a perfect scent for me – a mix of woody / spicy and floral notes!

Inkling Scents Sultry

Perfume reviews are very subjective in my opinion. It is a combination of body chemistry and personal preference.

Sadly, this scent does not mix well with my body chemistry and pulls almost musky on me – the floral notes disappear completely! In the bottle it smells really pretty, so I might just use it to scent clothing, because it is quite lovely when not directly on my skin!

Inkling Scents Sultry

Ingredients: Jojoba Oil, Sandalwood Essential Oil, White Amber Essential Oil, Lotus Flower Essential Oil, Bulgarian Rose Essential Oil, Vanilla Natural Isolate

Petit Vour Unboxing + First Impressions March 2020

Hello, hello!

My March Petit Vour box finally arrived on April 15th! I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out. [info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour March 2020

I have temporarily cancelled my Petit Vour subscription, so I will not be getting the April box. I plan on re-subscribing as soon as life returns to some state of normality.

Petit Vour March 2020

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate @1.3804 my box cost me $31.75 CAD this month.

Let’s take a closer look:

Petit Vour March 2020

MO MI Beauty Styling Jelly (travel size 30ml $22 USD, full size 100ml $38 USD)

This innovative jelly stays flexible and maintains movement, allowing easy styling and a no-frizz finish. Every hair type can achieve different textures using the jelly, which blends organic hydrating olive oil and clarifying apple cider vinegar with floral and gem-essences for inner and outer balance.

Petit Vour March 2020

This sounds interesting, especially the no-frizz finish.

Alima Pure Natural Definition Eye Pencil (0.04oz / 1.14g $18 USD)

A long lasting, highly pigmented natural eyeliner pencil. Natural Definition Eye Pencil is filled with soothing natural oils, waxes, and Chamomile extract to protect the delicate eye area. This eyeliner glides on smoothly, blends beautifully, and lasts all day.

Petit Vour March 2020

Sigh. Another  eye liner. I have so many liners in my stash! Hopefully it is a good one. Thankfully it is in the shade Coffee (rich cocoa brown) and not Ink (carbon black) as I have SO MANY BLACK EYELINERS in my stash!

Inkling Scents Roll-On Perfume in Sultry (sample size 5ml $15 USD, full size 10ml $25 USD)

Petit Vour March 2020

Oooh, this sounds like a scent that I will love!

Pacifica Coconut Water Micellar Cleansing Tonic ( sample size 2 oz $5USD, full size 8oz / 236ml $12 USD)

We make it easy to be good with this simple step in cleansing that requires no water and no rinsing. Fortified coconut, calendula and grapefruit waters, this powerful tonic helps capture and lift away dirt, oil and impurities without harsh rubbing or over-drying. For all skin types

Petit Vour March 2020

Hopefully this will be a nice micellar water. I don’t like the ones that are soapy or leave a filmy feeling on the skin.

The March box is valued at $60 USD, which works out to be $82.82 CAD! I’m most excited by the Mo Mi Beauty Styling Jelly and the Inkling Scents Sultry Perfume!

Highborn Défumé Annointing Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Highborn Défumé Annointing Oil that came in my December Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Highborn Défumé Annointing Oil

This Ritual Rollerball will cleanse and clear your energetic space, focus the mind for meditation or prayer, and prepare yourself for ritual. DÉFUMÉ pays true homage to palo santo while embodying a dynamic fragrance profile. Application is beautiful (externally) anywhere on your body, this fragrance is known to transport. Boasting organic essential oils that are sustainably sourced and extracted, reiki charged crystals and high vibes – DÉFUMÉ will help deepen your self care regimen. Fragrance is unisex.

Highborn Défumé Annointing Oil

The first thing that went through my mind when I saw this was to ask myself if this was a perfume or an essential oil (or both). The scent is very subtle – lightly smoky and woody. I would use this before a meditative yoga practice,  than to use it as a perfume as I don’t find that the scent lasts on me. I find that nearly all coconut oil based perfumes oils don’t have any longevity on me.

Highborn Défumé Annointing Oil

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Organic Fractionated Coconut Oil, A Proprietary Blend of Wild Crafted + Organic Essential Oils, Reiki Charged Quartz + Black Tourmaline.

The 7 Virtues Grapefruit Lime, Patchouli Citrus, and Vetiver Elemi Eau de Parfum

The 7 Virtues Vetiver Elemi, Grapefruit Lime, Patchouli CitrusEau de Parfum

Hello, hello!

Today I have reviews of three of the scents from The 7 Virtues Eau de Parfum rollerball collection – Grapefruit Lime, Patchouli Citrus and Vetiver Elemi. I recently won a giveaway via their InstaGram where I won a set of seven rollerballs. [info in italics taken from the Sephora website]

The 7 Virtues Rollerball Collection

Grapefruit Lime

The 7 Virtues Grapefruit Lime Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Family: Fresh
Scent Type: Fresh Citrus & Fruits
Key Notes: Sweetie Grapefruit, Green Tea, Cedarwood

About: This hero scent is as popular for its story as it is for its rejuvenating aromatherapy properties and is loved the world over. Opening notes of sweetie grapefruit, lime, and basil blend with ambrosial, big hearted notes of green tea and petit grain. Its warm dry down lasts through base notes of bamboo and cedarwood. The scent for women and men blends well with Vetiver Elemi for a signature peace fragrance.

The 7 Virtues Grapefruit Lime Eau de Parfum

What else you need to know: This perfume celebrates peace with a symbolic blend of essential oils from Israel and Iran that represents hope for an end to long conflict in the Middle East.

This perfume is so good – very green and bright. The cedarwood balances it out and keeps it from being just a citrus scent. It smells great on both men and women!

Patchouli Citrus

The 7 Virtues Patchouli Citrus Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Family: Fresh
Scent Type: Fresh Florals
Key Notes: Cassis, Rose Geranium, Patchouli

About: This organic, fair trade patchouli essential oil has aromatherapy benefits to reduce tension. It is accented by wildly complimentary heart notes of sweet peony and rose geranium and base notes of sandalwood and amber. This is not the hippy scent of the past, but a modern, sexy rendition that required 25 versions before excellence was achieved. The fragrance is for men and women and blends well with Rose Amber for a sensual and free-spirited effect.

The 7 Virtues Patchouli Citrus Eau de Parfum

What else you need to know: Patchouli Citrus perfume helps restore dignity to survivors of the 1994 [Rawandan] genocide. The patchouli harvest gives widows and adult orphans their economic independence. Over 150 farmers belong to a cooperative that provides a wage three times higher than that of coffee crops, empowering members to buy homes and school uniforms for their children.

This is not a typical patchouli scent – it is slightly floral, earthy, and fresh. It pairs well with several of the other scents in the collection – especially Rose Amber!

Vetiver Elemi

The 7 Virtues Vetiver Elemi Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Family: Earthy & Woody
Scent Type: Earthy Greens & Herbs
Key Notes: Elemi, Geranium, Vetiver

About: Vetiver Elemi perfume features organic vetiver essential oil, and has aromatheraputic and aphrodisiac properties when blended with natural pheromones. The unique formulation with precious elemi offers spicy heart notes of cardamom, cumin, and nutmeg, and is anchored with base notes of warm cedarwood. This fresh and sensual vetiver is a popular scent for women and men.

The 7 Virtues Vetiver Elemi Eau de Parfum

What else you need to know: Vetiver Elemi perfume helps sustain farmlands devastated by the 2010 earthquake. Farmers in Haiti are reducing soil erosion by harvesting vetiver root. Over 2500 seasonal farmers receive fair wages and work in an organic environment to provide what is considered the best Vetiver oil in the world.

This one is very hard for me to describe – it is spicy, woody, and very earthy, but at the same time fresh. It is odd, but I like it!

The 7 Virtues - Jasmine Neroli
What else you need to know: This vegan, hypoallergenic, and cruelty-free perfume provides financial assistance that supports agriculture in India. It also fosters college programs for the blind to become perfumers.

I normally do not like jasmine based scents, but this one works. The more I wear it, the more I’m liking it! There’s a underlying spiciness that comes through the jasmine. Love it!

Orange Blossom

The 7 Virtues - Orange Blossom

This scent is really pretty, a light and fresh floral with a hint of juicy citrus. It blends really well with both Vanilla Woods and Jasmine Neroli!

The 7 Virtues Rose Amber Eau de Parfum Review

Hello, hello!

If you follow me on instagram you will know that I recently won a really awesome giveaway from The 7 Virtues – a set of seven perfume rollerballs, and a #makeperfumenotwar t-shirt.

The 7 Virtues Rollerball Collection

That same week, I had the opportunity to meet the owner of The 7 Virtues (Barb Stegemann) at the Montreal Sephora store for a blending atelier – a very cool experience!

While I was there, I purchased a full size bottle of the Rose Amber scent because I’d fallen in love with it. Today I’m reviewing the Rose Amber scent (I’ll review the other scents soon). [info in italics taken from the Sephora website]

The 7 Virtues Rose Amber Eau de Parfum

The 7 Virtues Peace Perfumes are made with natural, organic and fair trade essential oils supporting families in nations rebuilding after war or strife. Founder and author, Barb Stegemann designed her vegan, cruelty free scents for eco-chic women and men who want a luxury fragrance without the harmful chemicals. Good for the world. Good for your skin.

The 7 Virtues Rose Amber Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Family: Floral Scent Type: Warm Florals Key Notes: Bergamot, Rose, Amber

About: The rare and precious rose essential oil is famous for stimulating feelings of love, as well as for its aromatherapy benefits. Adventurous Rose Amber peace perfume is for contemporary women and men who want to leave a better footprint on this earth than they found. This is the warm rose of love. The contemporary scent features heart notes of warm cinnamon and crisp lavender, anchored by base notes of sensual sandalwood and delicious vanilla. Wear alone or blend with the fresh, bright scent of Orange Blossom for your own trademark impression.

The 7 Virtues Rose Amber Eau de Parfum

What else you need to know:
Rose Amber perfume builds communities. Farmers earn twice the income through rose than they would through growing an illegal poppy crop. The purchase of this oil frees 1000 seasonal farmers and their families from illegal opium traders. There are 178 hand-picked rose petals in every bottle of Rose Amber.

This vegan, hypoallergenic, and cruelty-free perfume features ethically sourced rose essential oil from Afghaninstan. The 7 Virtues peace perfumes are made with organic sugar cane alcohol. It forms the best bond with natural essential oils which enhances our natural perfumes. Made in Canada.

The 7 Virtues Rose Amber Eau de Parfum

This perfume is quite possibly the most beautiful rose based perfume that I’ve ever tried! The main notes of rose, bergamot and amber work to make a rose scent that is warm and a little spicy and not at all a flowery old lady scent!

And the fact that it is a clean, cruelty free formulation, makes me love it even more.

Petite Histoire Envie Desoir Perfume Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’ve reviewing the Envie Desoir Perfume Oil from Petite Histoire that came in my August Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petite Histoire1

Violet glistens while gentle rose dances in soft rain. Powdery orris is the quiet, cool whisper of Paris.

Top: Bergamot, Angelica Seed
Middle: Rose, Orris, Violet
Base: Sandalwood, Ambrette

Petite Histoire Envie Desoir

This is a beautiful perfume oil, delicately floral, without being overly “flowery” due to the sandalwood and ambrette base notes. I love the violet notes. Sadly it does not last very long on me – but perfume oils rarely last a long time on my skin. I really like it though, and have been reapplying when the scent vanishes.

My Daughter Fragrances Joyful Perfume Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Joyful Perfume from My Daughter Fragrances that came in my November Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the My Daughter Fragrances website]

Petit Vour November 2018

THE FIRST IN OUR COLLECTION, THIS FRAGRANCE CONJURES IMAGES OF CHILDHOOD, SUNSHINE, SUMMER CELEBRATION.

Think white bouquets, delicate jasmine, sweet citrus sorbet; think dancing top notes of orange blossom and grapefruit, splashes of bergamot and spearmint. This scent can’t help but make you smile.

With jasmine of Grasse and rose at her heart, Joyful is as ageless as she is cheerful. Mellowing into sophisticated sandalwood dry down, she is a soft kiss after a spirited dance; she is a contented sigh after surprised laughter.

She is love and light. She is Joyful.

Petit Vour November 2018

This is the first time that I’ve gotten to try a scent from My Daughter Fragrances – they are a Canadian perfume company that is both cruelty free and vegan. Joyful is a beautiful floral based perfume, and the citrus notes and sandalwood keep it from being too flowery. I’m not usually a fan of jasmine, but it works well with the other notes.  It really does smell joyful and bright! For me this would be more of a spring / summer scent.

My only complaint is that the sample vial is very difficult to open!

Have you tried anything from My Daughter Fragrances?

Vert Mont Perfumery Cyrena Perfume Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Cyrena Perfume Oil from Vert Mont Perfumery that came in my June Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the card that came with the perfume oil]

CYRENA. Mischievous Mermaid, Sovereign Princess, or Queen? Embrace your inner riches & shine! Gardenia & Magnolia Grandiflora open to a Tonka glazed green Cacao & Pink Peppercorn heart, finishing with a leathery Labdanum Amber.

Vert Mont Perfumery Cyrena

This is such a cool looking perfume oil – it looks almost like a lava lamp due to the cacao absolute. You have to shake the perfume up before each use!

Perfume oils don’t normally last very long on my skin – but this one really lasts!

I find it to be a very complex scent, and very difficult to describe how it smells to my nose. It is floral without being flowery, the cacao and pink peppercorn warm it up, and the amber makes it earthy, yet mildly powdery. Hopefully that makes sense!

Vert Mont Perfumery Cyrena

On the Petit Vour website it is listed at $35 USD for 10ml.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

My next blog post will be on Wednesday, July 18th – I’m taking a small break, but I’ll still be reading and commenting during my break.
