IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream Illumination with SPF50 Review

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Illumination

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Illumination

Today I’m reviewing the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream Illumination with SPF50. I’ve previously tried the original IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream a few years ago (link is here in case you want to check it out). [info in italics taken from the IT Cosmetics website]

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Illumination

Experience your best-selling, multitasking, CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+ beauty miracle—now infused with proprietary Drops of Light Technology™ for a subtle touch of radiance! Developed with plastic surgeons, CC+ Illumination™ delivers full, flawless, perfect coverage and protects your skin with SPF 50+ UVA/UVB broad-spectrum physical sunscreen. Clinically shown to give you 179% of skin hydration, improve skin texture and enhance skin brightness without glitter or shimmer, this breakthrough color-correcting cream never creases or cracks and instantly camouflages imperfections including dark spots. Plus, it’s formulated with an advanced anti-aging serum made of hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, niacin, hyaluronic acid, and vitamins A, B, C and E that work in harmony to diffuse the look of wrinkles, minimize pores and give you a more luminous, supple and flawless-looking complexion.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Illumination

In the original formula, I had the shade light, but this year, I picked the newer light-medium shade as I found that light was just a bit too light for me for summer, and the medium shade looked like it would be way too dark for me. I also decided to try the new Illumination formula as I love anything that helps my skin look and feel radiant.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Illumination

When I first opened up the package, the shade light-medium looked way too dark, but thankfully it just makes me look like I’ve gotten a little bit of sun – which is what I was hoping for. The formula feels similar to the original formula, and the coverage is buildable, I tend to wear it on the sheer side, just to even out my skintone and add radiance. When first applied it seems a little too dark and too shimmery, but once blended out and it dries down, it loses the shimmer, and just makes my skin look great (my wrist / inner arm is actually paler than my face right now).

Have you tried this one?

Garnier Skinactive Clearly Brighter SPF 30 Moisturizer Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Garnier Clearly Brighter SPF30 Moisturizer

Garnier recently became Leaping Bunny Certified cruelty free – so I decided to try a few things from them – one of which is the Skinactive Clearly Brighter SPF30 Moisturizer. I generally prefer mineral SPF formulations, but decided to try this one out as the mineral sunscreen that I wanted to buy was out of stock. I’ve been using this for well over two months now (maybe even three), so I feel that I’m ready to review. [info in italics taken from the Garnier Canada website]

Garnier Clearly Brighter SPF30 Moisturizer

Developed with our Antioxidant Complex of Vitamin C & E, and gentle exfoliating Lipo-Hydroxyl Acid (LHA). This fast absorbing, non-greasy formula helps reduce the look of visible sun-damage, revealing radiant, more even-toned, younger-looking skin.

I chose this moisturizer for two main reasons – the SPF level and the Vitamin C content – my skin does well with higher SPF factors, and loves Vitamin C. The formula is very lightweight and non-greasy, and it plays nicely with foundation and concealer. I love products that help add brightness / radiance and help with fine lines.

It isn’t overly scented, but it does contain fragrance, so watch out if you have sensitivities (do a patch test).

Garnier Clearly Brighter SPF30 Moisturizer

If I was going to be outside all day, I prefer use a sunscreen instead of a moisturizer with added SPF. But this is good for those days when I’m not spending any real amount of time in the sun, but still want my skin to be protected.

Have you tried this moisturizer?

Sun Bum Mineral Tinted Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 30 Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Sun Bum Mineral Tinted Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 30. I purchased this awhile back from well.ca and have been using it for several weeks. [info in italics taken from the Sun Bum website]

Sun Bum 4

Some of us like to go as au naturel as possible, so we’re really proud to introduce our new zinc-based Mineral collection for your lounging and earth loving pleasure. Lightweight, silky, SPF 30 Mineral Tinted Sunscreen Face Lotion glides on like butter and provides a chemical free sunscreen and primer with a matte finish.

Sun Bum 5

The first time I applied this zinc-based mineral sunscreen, I almost threw it out – it goes on so buttery (and not in a good feeling way, but in a greasy feeling way) – BUT wait – it actually sets to a semi-matte finish that feels very light. The tint is minimal – basically just enough to eliminate the white cast effect that often comes with zinc-based sunscreens. The coverage is light, and basically just evens out my skin. I’ve worn it on its own, with concealer, and with powder and it works well each way. I haven’t tried it with full foundation as I don’t wear foundation in the summer time, but based on how it plays with concealer and powder, I think that it would work well if that’s your thing.

Sun Bum 3

Tint-wise it works well for my fair to light skin tone. I’m not sure how well this would work for medium skin tones, and am doubtful this work work for darker skin tones – I think that there should be several skin tone options – having just one shade is pathetic!

Sun Bum 6

Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide 5.3%, Zinc Oxide 2.4%, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isopropyl Myristate, Polyamide-5, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polysilicone-11, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Plankton Extract, Glycerin, Mica, Iron Oxides, Propylene Carbonate, Synthetic Wax, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Isopropyl Titianium Triisostearate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Silica Silylate.

Have you tried this tinted sunscreen? Do you have a favourite tinted SPF?

Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF 30 Moisturizer Review

Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF 30

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF 30 Moisturizer – I purchased it during the annual Sephora spring sale. I picked the 12ml travel size tube to try out ($26 CAD ) instead of pricier full size 1.07oz / 50ml ($89 CAD) as I wanted to make sure that I really liked it. [info in italics taken from the Sephora website]

Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF 30

This light-activated moisturizer helps boost skin’s natural luminosity, while providing all-day hydration. It also protects against pollution and UV, infrared, and blue light. This eliminates the need for a separate moisturizer in your morning routine and is ideal for all skin types.

Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF 30

This is a really nice moisturizer and a great sunscreen – no white cast! It plays nicely with my makeup as well – it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on my skin.

Have you tried this one? Do you have a fave facial sunscreen?

Empties July 2019

Empties July 2019

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties for you with links to the original reviews, and whether or not I plan to purchase / re-purchase right away or eventually.

Skincare:

Empties July 2019 - Skincare - EiR NYC, The Ordinary, Blissona, BKind, Kahina Giving Beauty

EiR NYC Active Face Wash – This was a Petit Vour box sample. Quite possibly the most unappealing looking foaming face wash, but I really LOVED this one for washing off my sunscreen and makeup at the end of hot and humid days. Definitely going on my wishlist! Original review is here.

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG – This is the last product in my mini project pan for serums. You only need the smallest amount for your undereye, so this one took forever to finish up. I really like it, but want to try out something new. Original review is here.

Blissoma Refine Clay Renewal Treatment – Another Petit Vour sample. This was such an awesome mask, I’d love to own a full size. I have several masks to use up, so onto the wishlist it goes. Original review is here.

BKind Sensitive Skin Face Scrub – Yet another Petit Vour sample, a great exfoliating and moisturizing scrub, super gentle. I have other scrubs to finish up but I would purchase a full size of this one. Review is here.

Kahina Giving Beauty Oil Cleanser – Another Petit Vour sample. I loved this oil cleanser, so very gentle and effective. I’m still working my through my cleanser stash, so you guessed it, onto the wishlist it goes. Review is here.

Makeup:

Empties July 2019 - Makeup - Covergirl, Essence, Suntegrity

Covergirl Exhibitionist Waterproof Mascara – I liked this mascara a lot. I won’t be repurchasing this one because there are others from Covergirl that I’d like to try. Review is here.

Essence Volume Hero Waterproof Mascara – Similarly, I liked this mascara quite a bit as well, but I won’t be repurchasing this one but there are others from Essence that I’d like to try. Review is here.

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin Moisturizing Face Sunscreen Tinted SPF 30 – Another Petit Vour sample. This was slightly too light for me recently, but I started adding in the KVoss Bronzing Potion Glow Cream and not only did it make the shade perfect for me, it added radiance and made the finish less matte / less drying on my skin. Review is here.

Empties July 2019

Overall, I’m happy that I’m making steady progress at using up the products in my stash. Did you finish up much this month?

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin Moisturizing Face Sunscreen Tinted SPF 30 Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Impeccable Skin Moisturizing Face Sunscreen Tinted SPF 30 (longest name ever) from Suntegrity. [info in italics taken from Petit Vour website]

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin

Beauty boosting skincare, sunscreen and makeup all in one! This medium coverage formula gives skin a flawless, smooth, more youthful appearance. Formulated without oils or silicones, this vitamin and peptide rich technology, visibly reduces the signs of aging while non-nano zinc oxide and melanin provide Broad Spectrum SPF 30 and blue light protection to help prevent any future damage.

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin

  • Vitamin C + E – antioxidant protection that feeds & nourishes the skin
  • Peptides visibly reduce the signs of aging and provide an overall smoothing effect
  • Non-Nano Zinc Oxide provides Broad Spectrum SPF 30 protection
  • Melanin (from non-GMO corn) protects the skin from damaging blue/violet light
  • Hyaluronic Acid provides long lasting hydration
  • Environmental Shield – protects against pollutants and allergens while preserving skin’s natural barrier function

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin

This is available in five shades: 01 Ivory, 02 Buff, 03 Sand, 04 Tan, and 05 Bronze. I received the lightest shade Ivory.

I’ve previously tried and reviewed a sample of the 5-in-1 Natural Moisturizing Sunscreen (Tinted) in the shade Fair back in 2015 (review is here), which worked great on its own, but didn’t play nicely with other makeup (concealer, powder, highlighter, and blush), so I was hoping that this new tinted SPF product would work better for me.

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin

Shadewise, Ivory is a perfect match for my face right now, but will likely be too light by mid-summer.

I found that this tinted sunscreen worked best if I applied it over moisturizer as the matte finish was a little too drying for my skin if applied without moisturizing first. I think that it would work really well for normal to oily skin (my skin is currently normal to very slightly dry right now).

And most importantly, the Impeccable Skin Moisturizing Face Sunscreen played nicely with my concealer and other makeup!

Petit Vour Unboxing & First Impressions May 2019

Hello, hello!

My May Petit Vour box finally arrived, and I’ve managed to unbox and photograph it this morning. I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out. [all info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour May2019

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate @ 1.3830 my box cost me $31.81 CAD this month.

Petit Vour May2019

Let’s take a closer look at what was in this month’s Petit Vour box:

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin Moisturizing Face Sunscreen Tinted SPF 30 (sample size 0.25oz $7 USD, full size 2oz $55 USD)

Petit Vour May2019

Beauty boosting skincare, sunscreen and makeup all in one! This medium coverage formula gives skin a flawless, smooth, more youthful appearance. Formulated without oils or silicones, this vitamin and peptide rich technology, visibly reduces the signs of aging while non-nano zinc oxide and melanin provide Broad Spectrum SPF 30 and blue light protection to help prevent any future damage.

This is available in five shades: 01 Ivory, 02 Buff, 03 Sand, 04 Tan, and 05 Bronze. I received Ivory. In the summer, I tend to wear very little makeup, and when I do, it is more likely to be either a tinted sunscreen, or a BB Cream with SPF – so I look forward to trying this one out.

Osea Atmosphere Protection Cream (full size 2oz $48 USD)

Petit Vour May2019

A lightweight moisturizer that protects skin from dehydration and damage from environmental aggressors. The super emollient algae base ensures instantaneous absorption while the advanced blend of dermal proteins increases elasticity and leaves a matte, silky finish. An amazing, invisible base for makeup application. For Whom: Normal, Dry, Combo + Sensitive Skin. The natural emollient properties of seaweed give this cream a uniquely light and silky texture. Vitamin E strengthens collagen and increases elasticity.

This moisturizer sounds great – lightweight and hydrating. Can’t wait to start testing it out! This is a full size product. I like that it can also be used as a primer.

BKind Sensitive Skin Face Scrub (sample size  15g $9 USD, full size 48g $25 USD)

Petit Vour May2019

The cranberry seeds and hibiscus face scrub has been created for your skin to be softly exfoliated and hugely moisturized at the same time.

Perfect for sensitive or dry skin: this face scrub will leave your skin smooth, glowing and moisturized.

A scrub for sensitive skin, hello! Can’t wait to try this one out! And, they’re Montreal based.

Lavido Thera Intensive Foot Cream (sample size 30ml $7 USD, full size $28 USD)

Petit Vour May2019

This ultra hydrating foot cream is formulated with the aromatic Achillea plant and purifying oils like distilled myrtle and Organic Tea Tree. Serves to moisturize and repair chafed skin as well as purify and prevent foot odor. Leaves skin soft, supple and energized.

Since the weather is hopefully finally warming up, I’ll be living in sandals, so a good foot cream is always a useful product!

Petit Vour May2019

Total value of this month’s box is $71 USD which works out to be $98.19 CAD. I’m super happy with this month’s box!

Protect Your Skin with LASPA Natural Mineral Sunscreens

Hello, hello!

May is Skin Cancer Awareness month, so it is the perfect time to share the PR package that I received from LASPA Sun Care Naturals and PK Communications.

LASPA Naturals

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you will recall that I received a beautiful package from them last year as well. LASPA is a Canadian company that specializes in natural suncare products, more specifically mineral sunscreens. [info in italics taken from the LASPA website and press release]

LASPA Naturals

This year’s package contained their two newly reformulated sunscreens – the Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen SPF30 (for face and sensitive areas), and the Daily Sun Protection Mineral Sunscreen SPF20, as well as the new SPF 50 Ultra Sun Protection Stick (with tint), and a cute little fanny pack to carry your sunscreen with you!

LASPA Naturals

These mineral sunscreens are clinically tested, hypoallergenic, chemical free, fragrance free, paraben free, gluten free, and reef safe, and are made for all skin types, especially sensitive ones. And they are cruelty free.

The new formulation contains a unique SPF blend, LASPA keeps skin smooth and protected by using essential oils, plant materials, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to deliver a translucent, non-greasy result. LASPA has added antioxidants to reduce inflammation and to prevent skin cell damage.

Benefits of Mineral Sunscreens:

  •  Zinc Oxide provides a broad spectrum protection against both UVA/UVB rays whereas chemical filters don’t necessarily provide this function
  • Zinc Oxide is effective immediately upon application, whereas chemical filters need approximately 20 minutes to be absorbed
  • Zinc Oxide reduces or eliminates the risk of allergies or skin irritation that can be caused by the chemicals used in chemical sun filters
  • Zinc Oxide avoids the risk of health issues that have been documented concerning the cumulative effects of chemical sunscreen ingredients on reproductive health

LASPA Naturals

Let’s take a closer look at each one:

LASPA SPF30 Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen Sensitive Skin – Face and Neck (80 ml / 2.7 oz, $40 CAD)

LASPA Naturals

Formulated with a unique SPF blend, LASPA keeps skin smooth and protected by using essential oils, plant materials, zinc oxide to deliver a translucent, non-greasy result. LASPA has added antioxidants to reduce inflammation and to prevent skin cell damage. None of LASPA products contain harmful chemicals such as parabens, artificial fragrance or colours, or chemical UVA/UVB filters.

Right away I could see and feel that the revised formulation is a lot silkier and smoother texture-wise. It can be worn with or without makeup, and no white cast! I really like this one for the face, neck and chest. It feels very light and silky when applied, and a little goes a long way!

Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide 20%  Inactive Ingredients: Isoamyl Cocoate (Plant Derived), Organic Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Coconut Extract), Organic Cera alba (beeswax)*, Organic Copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax*, Sorbitan Sesquioleate (Plant Derived), Organic Persea gratissima (avocado) oil*, Tocopherol, Bisabolol, Organic Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, Camellia sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract

LASPA SPF20 Daily Sun Protection Mineral Sunscreen Lotion (125 ml / 4.2 oz, $44 CAD)

LASPA Naturals

Used as a daily regime for under makeup or all over body, it moisturizes the skin with organic coconut oil, and counteracts the aging and damaging effects of the sun rays with vitamin E.

Like the SPF 30, the revised formulation is smoother and silkier than the original version. I’ve used it both on my body and on my face, and it does not leave a white cast. It plays nicely with makeup. I do prefer to use the SPF30 for my face, and this one for my body.

Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide 14% Inactive Ingredients: beeswax, bisabolol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, certified organic cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, isoamyl cocoate, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, tocopherols

LASPA SPF50 Ultra Sun Protection Stick (14 g / 0.50 oz, $18 CAD)

LASPA Naturals

Providing the Ultimate Sun Protection, this SPF50 stick is pocket size and perfect for use in conjunction with our SPF30 as a touch up for the T-zone, or heavily exposed areas. Our SPF50 contains zinc and titanium dioxide plus 95.7% certified organic ingredients to provide 98% broad spectrum protection. Vitamin D and E are added for protecting and repairing the skin.

LASPA Naturals

The SPF50 stick is great to keep in your bag for touch-ups. It has a tint, which at first I though would be too dark for me, but it blends in and looks completely natural, so it can be used on the face (and even on the body) as it blends in easily. I’ll be taking this one everywhere with me all summer.

Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide 25% Titanium Dioxide 3.8% Ingredients: Organic Ricinus Communis (Castor) Oil, Zinc Oxide, Organic Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Organic beeswax, Organic Theobroma Cacao Butter, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Titanium dioxide , Copernicia cerifera(carnauba) wax, Tocopherol, Iron oxide, Silica , Jojoba esters, Organic Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf extract, Cholecalciferol

LASPA Naturals

This line of mineral sunscreens is perfect for all skin types, especially sensitive ones. I love that they are fragrance free (which is quite often of of the biggest triggers for sensitivity).

I am sure that you know that sunscreen should ALWAYS be worn to reduce your risk of skin cancer, but I’m telling you again! As an added bonus, you will reduce early aging caused by UV exposure (wrinkles, sunspots). Please wear your sunscreen!
