Lowen’s Natural Skincare Reviews Part 5 – In Yo Face! Natural BB Cream

Hello, hello!

Lowen's Natural Skincare

Today I’m continuing with my final review of a  product that came in my awesome PR package from Canadian company Lowen’s Natural Skincare (Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4). Today’s review is on the In Yo Face! Natural BB Cream [info in italics taken from the Lowen’s website]

Lowen's Natural Skincare In Yo Face! Natural Vegan BB Cream

In Yo Face! Natural Vegan BB Cream – Based on the fundamental success of the RIIWDY hand and body lotion (minus the beeswax) In Yo Face! our Vegan BB Cream contains active concentrations of Omega fatty acids (essential acids 3 and 6), Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Niacin (Vitamin B3), Lipoic Acid (Thioctic acid), Vitamin E (Tocopherol), Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Palmitate), Hyaluronic Acid (AKA Hyaluron) and a little Zinc Oxide for a little daytime protection from ‘ole Sol.

lowen's in yo face1

This is not a tinted BB cream. The In Yo Face! Natural Vegan BB Cream is a little on the thick side, similar to a lot of physical / mineral sunscreens – likely due to the Zinc Oxide in its formulation. And yay, it offers some sun protection because of this!

It soaks into the skin fairly quickly and works well to hydrate without being heavy or greasy feeling. I was fairly surprised because usually creams that feel like this tend to take a little longer to absorb into the skin. It works well for my sensitive, normal to dry skin.

Lowen's Natural Skincare In Yo Face! Natural Vegan BB Cream

The IYF! Natural Vegan BB Cream works well as a makeup primer too! I’ve worn it with both minimal makeup (concealer and powder) and with full makeup and it gives my skin a smooth base for makeup.

It contains loads of skin friendly ingredients and the only scent is of what it is made of – which I really like.

Ingredients: Aqua, Cetyl Alcohol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Zinc Oxide (nano), Glycerin, Canola Oil, Camelina Sativa Seed Oil, Polysorbate 80, Lecithin, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Butter, Panthenol, Niacinamide, Thiotic Acid, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Rosemary Officinalis Leaf Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hyaluronic Acid

Have you tried this BB cream? Do you have a fave BB cream?

Thanks for reading

abrashattitude.com have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: In case you missed it at the beginning, this was a part of a PR package. However, my love of natural skincare and my opinions are entirely my own.

June 2016 Empties

Hello, hello!

Can you believe that June is nearly over already? This year is flying by so quickly!

June 2016 Empties

This was supposed to be yesterday’s post, but I was away over the weekend, and didn’t get my photos taken and edited until this morning. Oh well, better late than never!

Onto the empties – I finished up quite a few products this month. I’ve been really trying to clear out my stash of things before buying new ones.

Nuworld Botanicals Stress Relief Multi-Mineral Bath Soak* – I loved these bath salts, and once I finish clearing up my stash, I plan on replacing them. Original review is here.

Caprina Fresh Goat’s Milk Foaming Milk Bath+ – I received this as a birthday gift in April. I don’t think that I reviewed this one already but it was ok. I had to use nearly half a bottle to get a decent amount of foam to happen. I probably won’t purchase this one.

Haus of Gloi Haus Amber Pumpkin Butter – I absolutely LOVE Haus of Gloi stuff! I have a few more Pumpkin Butters in my stash to use up, but I’ll definitely replace them once finishing up a few more.

Oz Naturals Sweet Almond and Macadamia Nut Body Butter* – I loved this one, especially on days that I did not want to wear a scented product. I would buy this one again, but not until I clear out my stash. Original review is here.

Haus of Gloi Bubbling Scrubs in Snow Wolf and S’mores – I will always buy the Bubbling Scrubs from Haus of Gloi. I LOVE THEM. Again, I have a few more in my stash, but as soon as I’m nearly finished, I’ll be making a Haus haul. I don’t think that I’ve ever reviewed these scrubs, I’ll have to put that on my list!

Lush Rehab Shampoo (Restauration) and Veganese Conditioner (Vegetalien) – I would buy the Rehab Shampoo again, but the Veganese Conditioner is too light for my crazy mane of hair. Original reviews are here.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Shampoo and Conditioner* – I did like both of these as they really helped keep my hair colour bright and refreshed. I’m testing out some new shampoo / conditioner combinations right now, so I’m not going to be replacing these ones any time soon. Original review is here.

Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask – This is one of my holy grail skincare items for winter. But really, any time my skin needs a moisture boost. I’ll be buying this one again in the fall / winter. Original review is here.

Shiseido Facial Cotton+ – These cushy facial cotton pads were a part of the runner-up prize that I won from Stashy’s awesometastic giveaway. These are super mega luxurious! I’m sad that they are gone, because even though I loved them, I normally buy whichever ones are on sale. Original review is here.

Paula’s Choice Resist Cellular Defence Daily Moisturizer with SPF 25 – I liked wearing this with just powder, but it did not play nicely with liquid foundation. I’ve had this for quite awhile now and the last bit started to go off, so into the empties bin with this one. I probably won’t replace it, as I prefer to use a higher SPF.

Skinfix Inc Ultra Rich Body Butter* – Another beautiful body butter, so rich but not at all greasy. This one is totally stash worthy. I’ll be picking one up! Original review is here.

Au Naturale Creme Concealer – I haven’t used this one in ages. I remember really liking it when I got it. But it has since dried out so it is getting pitched (and the container will be recycled). Original review is here.

Elf BB Cream – I really liked this one, but won’t be re-purchasing as I prefer a high SPF in my BB Creams. It worked well with my skin and didn’t feel too heavy. Original review is here.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

I’ll be back on Thursday with my June Favourites – I know, my Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule is off this week. Next week I plan on returning to my usual schedule.

Physician’s Formula Super BB #InstaReady BB Cream

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Super BB #InstaReady BB Cream from Physician’s Formula that I received at their booth at the Generation Beauty event.

InstantPerfection: Ultra-lightweight formula glides on effortlessly, instantly smoothing & rebalancing skin with dual-sphere particles that absorb oil but not moisture for perfectly balanced skin and a smooth semi-matte finish. Complexion is instantly selfie-ready * Multi-tasking BB cream neutralizes skin-tone imbalances, minimizes shine and visibly reduces pores, instantly hiding imperfections and smoothing the appearance of fine lines. *Featuring InstaFilter Technology, a proprietary blend of mattifying and pore balancing

And for those with sensitive skin, here’s the ingredients list:

Water/Eau, Cyclopentasiloxane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol, Zinc Oxide, Bis-PEG/PPG-14/14 Dimethicone, Dimethicone, C30-45 Alkyl Cetearyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Chloride, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Fomes Officinalis (Mushroom) Extract, Adipic Acid/Neopentyl Glycol Crosspolymer, VP/VA Copolymer, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Alumina, Aluminum Chlorohydrate, Amodimethicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Castor Oil Phosphate, Disodium EDTA, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Hydroxylpropyl Methylcellulose, Laureth-12, Mica, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Polysilicone-11, Polysorbate 60, Propylene Carbonate, Silica, Sodium Hydroxide,Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Chlorphenesin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol. May Contain / Peut Contenir: Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide

My Experience: I received the Super BB Cream in shade Light. It seems to only be available in two shades – Light and Light / Medium – which is kind of ridiculous, because there are more than just two skin tones out there!

The BB Cream is fairly lightweight and evens out my skintone, giving it a natural semi-matte look. I’ve had no skin sensitivity issues when wearing it. I find that it does minimize my pores and blurs any fine lines that I’m pretending that I don’t have (haha).

The packaging mades no mention of SPF, but it does contain Zinc Oxide, and *might* contain Titanium Dioxide, so it may provide a minimal amount of sun protection. But I’ve been mixing it with my Paula’s Choice SPF 50 sunscreen when I wear it because I burn very easily and do not want to take a chance.

Overall verdict, I do like this BB Cream, it works well for my skin. But I don’t love it because it does not specify an SPF factor. If this BB cream contained SPF 30 or higher, I would be in love.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Disclosure: This product was a freebie from the Physician’s Formula booth at Generation Beauty (Toronto 2016). I am under no obligation to review this product.

Best of 2015 – the Make-Up Edit

Best BB/CC Cream:

it cosmetics1

The CC+ Cream from It Cosmetics is my summer Holy Grail item since it contains SPF 50, doesn’t make my skin irritated or greasy, and it makes my skin feel like it can breathe (review). I plan on buying this again in the spring.

Best Foundation:

Nars 4

I’ve tried wearing liquid foundations over the years, and they’ve always made my skin feel like it is suffocating. The Sheer Glow Foundation from Nars is the first one that works for my sensitive skin that I’ve tried so far (review).

Best Concealer(s):

I have three that I use ALL THE TIME. And they are all from Nyx. The first one is for under-eye circles  – the Dark Circle Concealer (review), the second one is for general concealing and highlighting – the HD Concealer (review), and the third one is for any areas that need a little extra concealing power – Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer (review).

Best Lipstick:

I chose ColourPop Lippie Stix because 9 times out of 10, when I reach for a lipstick, it is one from ColourPop (reviews here and here).

Best Highlighter:

We have a tie for this one, the first being from ColourPop, and the second from Brazen Cosmetics (reviews here and here).

Best Blush:

Milani BB 1

Without a doubt, I will have to choose Milani’s Baked Blushes as the best (reviews here, here, and  here), I love them all equally!

Best Eyebrow Pencil:

My holy grail brow pencil is from Crispy Brows, with the runner up being from Anastasia Beverly Hills (reviews here and here).

Best Palette(s):

To be honest, I don’t own very many palettes. But my most used two are mini-palettes from Urban Decay, one of which I had won in a giveaway from Hello Kaily (reviews here and here).

Best Single Shadow(s):

This is a tough one since I have so many single shadows. But I will have to say that my favourite single shadows of this year would have to be Birthday Girl, Empire and Dare from ColourPop, followed by Stereo, also from ColourPop (reviews here and here). I chose these ones for their pigmentation and staying power.

Best Mascara:

Essence Get Big Lashes

I never actually did a review, but my go-to mascara is from Essence – the Get Big Lashes in the waterproof formulation. Most mascaras irritate my sensitive eyes, and because my eyes water easily (if I laugh, if it is windy out, or if my allergies are acting up), I need mascara that will stay put and not smudge. The price is ridiculously cheap too!

There you have it, my Best of 2015 for Make-Up.

Thanks for reading and have a Happy and Beautiful New Year! ❤ ❤ ❤

e.l.f. BB Cream, HD Uplifting Concealer and HD Undereye Setting Powder

Good morning / afternoon / evening lovely people!

Just a little three-fer review of a few e.l.f. products that I’ve gotten in recent mini-hauls (here and here)

elf 1

First up is the e.l.f. Studio BB Cream with SPF 20 in shade Fair.

elf2

I decided to try this one out as a replacement for my it cosmetics CC cream with SPF 50 in shade light for a two main reasons: price ($6 USD / $7.99 CAD versus $38 USD), shade (once the weather changes, I revert to a lighter pale and I’ve noticed that the CC cream was already starting to look too dark for me). If you want to read the review of the CC cream (here).

Prime, protect, moisturize, and perfect your skin with this multitasking cream. Infused with key anti-aging ingredients like Vitamin E, Jojoba, Aloe, and Cucumber to hydrate and nourish the skin. The smoothing formula minimizes fine lines and provides a natural tint of color for seamless coverage.

It has a more sunscreen type scent than the gorgeous lemony scent of the CC cream. If I apply it with my fingers it can be a little streaky, but applied with a damp sponge it applies smoothly with a light coverage.

elf3elf5

Shade-wise, it blends well with my skintone, and looks very natural. If you need a medium or full-coverage, then this is not for you unless you plan on using it as a primer only. It is hydrating, but if you have oily skin, it might be a little bit much – I had some oiliness issues on my nose while wearing this on a super hot day. Nothing that a blotting paper or powder touch-up can’t handle.

Up next is the e.l.f. Studio High Definition Lifting Concealer in shade Fair.

elf7

In the tube and on the skin it looks really dark to me until I blend it into the skin.

elf8

This high definition, skin firming concealer hides imperfections and regenerates the skin for added radiance. Minimizes fine lines and helps even skin tone for a youthful look. The formula is infused with key ingredients Vitamin C, Green Tea and Mulberry for lifting and soothing benefits, and to help improve skin texture.

elf9

I don’t know if it actually firms the skin or not, but it seems to work well at concealing fine lines, redness / blemishes, and uneven skin tone on me.

And finally we have the e.l.f. Studio High Definition Undereye Setting Powder.

elf6

This light-diffusing powder camouflages fine lines, dark circles and imperfections, perfect for on camera or everyday wear. The silky powder adds a velvety finish ideal for wearing alone or setting in cream concealer. The Vitamin C & K infused formula helps to restore and strengthen skin for a revitalized appearance.

I’m kind of on the fence about this one. I’ve tried it alone, over the BB Cream, over my Nyx Dark Circle Concealer (review here), and over the HD Lifting concealer. I’ve applied it with the tiny brush that it came with (brush is not delicate under eye skin friendly), a concealer brush, a larger powder brush and with my fingers. Some days I find I can get it applied without creasing, but other days, eesh, holy creasing batman! Maybe with practise I’ll be able to figure out the right combination. I’m not giving up on this one yet.

Thanks for reading, and have a beautiful day!!! ❤ ❤ ❤

Disclosure: I purchased all of these products!
