Sunday Riley C.E.O. Moisturizer

Hello, hello!

Just a little review of the Sunday Riley C.E.O. C+E antiOxidant Protect and Repair Moisturizer. I got it as a deluxe sample using my Beauty Insider points on my birthday haul.

Sunday Riley C.E.O.

Here’a a description from the Sephora website:

Luxuriously hydrating and scientifically advanced, C.E.O. provides fast-absorbing moisturization without greasiness—protecting during the day and visibly repairing at night. It is enriched with five percent powerful, lipid-soluble, advanced vitamin C (tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, the most superior form), which is more stable and less irritating than ascorbic acid and other vitamin C derivatives. Blended with protective, anti-pollution exopolysaccharides and refining lime pearl extract, C.E.O. moisturizes your skin, visibly brightens, supports natural collagen, provides antioxidant support, and expertly fights the five visible signs of environmental and micropollution-induced skin damage: sensitivity, dehydration, dullness, uneven tone, and premature lines and wrinkles.

The ingredient list is super long:

Water, Squalane, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Dicaprylyl Carbonate, C10-18 Triglycerides, PEG-8 Beeswax, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Tapioca Starch, PPG-12 SMDI Copolymer, Polyglyceryl-6 Distearate, Jojoba Esters, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Acrylates Copolymer, Polyglyceryl-3 Beeswax, Lecithin, Glycerin, Microcitrus Australasica Fruit (Lime Pearl) Extract, Butylene Glycol, Alteromonas Ferment Extract (Exopolysaccharides), Phenoxyethanol, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit (Kakadu Plum) Extract, Bisabolol, Chlorphenesin, Caprylyl Glycol, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Nylon-12, Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Peel Oil, Citric Acid, Sodium Phytate, Tocopherol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Fragrance, Rosa Centifolia Flower Wax, Rosa Damascena Flower Wax, Alcohol Denat (found in botanical extracts), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Citrus Junos Fruit (Yuzu) Extract, Lippia Citriodora Flower (Lemon Verbena) Extract, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Fruit, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit (Rosehips)Extract, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Seed Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf (Oolong Tea).

The fragrance, although lovely and sunny smelling, and despite masking the vitamin C scent, makes me unhappy because I don’t like overly scented products for my face.

Sunday Riley C.E.O.

Is it a nice moisturizer? It isn’t terrible for me, but I don’t love it. I find that my skin is oilier than usual when I wake up in the morning after using this. It doesn’t seem to fully sink into my skin – not even the dry parts! I don’t normally have oily skin, it is more on the normal to dry side.

I don’t know how it plays with makeup or sunscreen as I’ve only been using this at night. I think that this would be best for really dry skin, and might be a disaster for oily skin.

I’m glad that I got a sample of this one instead of splurging on the full size as it is fairly expensive at $85 CAD for 1.7oz / 50g.

Have you tried the C.E.O. Moisturizer from Sunday Riley? Did it work for you?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Hey Honey Bésame Mucho Lip Balm Review

Hello, hello!

I am so swamped with work, sorry I did not post yesterday! This week is super mega busy!

Ok, on the review! As you all know, I’m a lip balm addict so when the Hey Honey Bésame Mucho Shea Butter and Propolis Lip Balm arrived in a recent Ipsy Glam Bag, I was happy to try it out as I’d managed to finish up a few lip balms from my stash recently.

Hey Honey Besame Mucho

Here’s what it says on the Hey Honey website:

A creamy, concentrated shea butter and Propolis lip balm.

Hey Honey Besame Mucho

Designed to care for and protect dry, chapped lips with nourishing emollients such as Shea Butter, squalane, and triglycerides. Absorbs well, leaving the lips feeling soft and hydrated. The antibacterial and antiseptic properties of the Propolis extract helps to keep your lips clean and hydrated to promote smoother texture.

This is a cruelty free and paraben free brand – yay!

Hey Honey Besame Mucho

I really like this lip balm. It is super smooth and fairly fast absorbing and not at all waxy or sticky. I tend to use this one in the daytime, and my Bite Beauty Lip Mask at bed time.

All in all, a great lip balm. Have you tried this lip balm, or anything else from Hey Honey?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Trust Fund Beauty – Just Talk to My Lawyer Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a little review of a nail polish from Trust Fund Beauty, a Montreal-based vegan and cruelty free brand (yay Canada!). The funny thing is that the nail polish was purchased in Toronto, and sent to me, here in Montreal! (this is part of my birthday loot, fyi)

A little bit about Trust Fund Beauty (info in italics taken from their website):

Samara Granofsky is the founder, creator and brain behind Trust Fund Beauty. She started this brand in memory of her late mother. Samara’s mother was diagnosed with cancer and had to go through chemotherapy.

The treatment made her nails brittle and yellow so she wanted a nail polish to wear to feel better about herself. At the time, a the brands on the market offered a limited selection of colours and names that were not fun. Samara’s mother wanted a cool fashion forward brand, but could not find one.

Years after her Mother’s passing in February 2014, Samara decided to launch Trust Fund Beauty. She combined her mothers want and their joint sense of humour to create the brand.

Trust Fund Beauty started off with nails but quickly expanded to other products.  It was important for Samara to create an ethical brand with a sense of humour to show that you can be ethical, beautiful and sassy all at the same time.

The polish is in the shade “Just Talk to My Lawyer” – which is no longer listed on the website (possibly discontinued shade?) but it is a dark blackened burgundy. The formula applies a little streaky and sheer with the first coat, but evens out nicely  with a second coat, and dries to a glossy finish. In the swatch photos, I’m not wearing a top coat, just to show how shiny the finish is.

Nail polish doesn’t last very long on my fingernails, regardless of the brand, so for me to get more than three days without any chipping is a MIRACLE. This one lasted four days before I had some chipping near the tips. It lasted three weeks on my toes before any chipping / wear occurred.

I love that this nail polish is non toxic – free some of the common toxic ingredients like toluene, formaldehyde, lead, nickel, phthalates (and other nasties), vegan and cruelty free. I’d like to try more from this brand!

Have you tried anything from Trust Fund Beauty?

Wildcraft Buff Face & Body Scrub Review

Hello, hello!

Wildcraft Buff Face & Body Scrub

Today I’m reviewing another one of the treats that I was given for my birthday last month – the Buff Face & Body Scrub from Toronto-based Wildcraft. Descriptions in italics taken from the Wildcraft website:

Wildcraft is a Toronto based company devoted to creating 100% natural skin care products. Our products are all handmade in small batches with ingredient lists that are simple, pure and easy to understand, giving you peace of mind in knowing exactly what you are putting on your body.

Wildcraft Buff Face & Body Scrub

Here’s what it says about the Buff Face & Body Scrub:

Clean and smooth your skin with this invigorating, mineral rich exfoliant for the face and body. The healing ingredients gently remove dull skin and dry out blemishes so your natural beauty can shine through. Leaves skin feeling refreshed, soft and polished.

Key properties:
– Clears congested skin
– Helps dry out blemishes
– Increases skin cell turnover

Wildcraft Buff Face & Body Scrub

This exfoliating scrub comes in a glass bottle, in dry powder form, and you just pour a small amount into your hand and add water. Buff has a really fresh spearmint scent, and works beautifully as an exfoliating scrub. Although it says that it can be used as a facial exfoliator, I’ve only used it as a body scrub as I have very sensitive skin, and it feels like it would be a little too harsh for my face. If you don’t have super sensitive skin, you probably could use it on your face. All in all, I really like this one!

Here’s the ingredient list:

Have you tried anything from Wildcraft? I definitely want to try more from this Canadian brand! Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day ❤

Spring Cleaning Project Collab – Month 3 Check-In & Update

Hello, hello!

The lovely Ingrid from Curly Spring Blossom has once again convinced me to take part in a new project pan – this time a Spring Cleaning Project Pan. This one is a little different than the previous ones, as we will be only posting once a month with our progress and reviewing four of the sixteen products to be panned.

Today is the three month check-in and update and review of the next four products! I’ve been pretty good about using every product at least once or twice a week, and for some products, I’m using them more than that.

Review of the next four products:

ColourPop Super Shock Cheeks in Sticky Sweet and Stole the Show

Originally reviewed here. I’ve been using both of these cheek products each week, and despite making a visible dent in them, they seem to be staying at the same weight which is frustrating! As you can probably guess, Stole the Show (on the right) is well loved! I dropped it when I first got it and it cracked, so I had to try to press it back together, so it is a little lumpy. I would re-buy Stole the Show. I’ve been forcing myself to use Sticky Sweet, so it is doubtful that I will re-purchase as it is a little out of my comfort zone.

NudeStix in Gel Lip and Cheek Balm in Pulse

Spring Cleaning #3

This was one of the products that I got at last year’s Ipsy Generation Beauty event in Toronto. I’m so happy to have rediscovered this one, it is a very wearable pinky nude shade. I’ve only worn this one as a lipstick, and not on my cheeks, so I can’t comment on how it works as a blush. It is super moisturizing and the colour is fairly long wearing. I’ll likely buy this shade when I use it up, or another shade from this line as I’m loving it so much! Original review is here.

Sukin Revitalizing Facial Scrub

Spring Cleaning #3

The only reason why this product was put into the current project pan is because I have a bit of a stock pile of facial scrubs, and this one was the oldest one in my stash. This is a lovely and gentle facial scrub – perfect for sensitive skins. I still love it, and will more than likely re-purchase this once I’ve cleared out more of my skincare stash. This one is close to finishing! Original review is here.

Now for a little science on all sixteen of the products! I borrowed Stashy’s scientific method for measuring progress – I’ve weighed each of the products on my new little kitchen scale, so I can keep track of how much I will have used up each month.

Spring Cleaning #3

Despite using all of the makeup items several times each week for the past month, once again there is very little change on the scales – so frustrating! I can definitely see progress with the non-makeup items though!

Don’t forget to check out Ingrid’s blog for her Spring Cleaning Project!

Feel like joining in? Let us know! The next update will be on June 5th!

Thanks for reading, and have a beautiful day! ❤

Disclosure: Nothing to disclose, all products either purchased by me, or gifted from a friend.

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017 Unboxing and First Impressions

Hello, hello!

This was supposed to go up yesterday, oops! Oh well, better late than never.

This month’s theme is “side show” – hence this month’s bag is a ticket to the “side show”. It’s a cute bag this month, and I’m fairly happy with everything that I received. (Descriptions in italics taken from the Ipsy website)

Onto the contents! First up is the Soothing Aloe Gel from Hanalei (a cruelty free brand):

  • Have you ever used aloe beyond sunburn season? We hadn’t either. But now we can’t live without it.

  • It’s cooling, refreshing, smoothing, and it feels ahhhh-mayyyy-zing.

  • Aloe is naturally regenerative, so it will help balance out any redness or uneven skin tone.

  • The gel texture also makes a killer makeup primer.

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017

I’m kind of happy to get this one, it is always good to have some aloe gel on hand in the summer time in case of sunburn – even though I am pretty good at always wearing SPF and taking a travel sized one with me to top up. I’ll be saving this one for the summer months.

Next is a Highlighting Powder from Mica Beauty in shade #3 (cruelty free):

  • Get all candlelit and dreamy in seconds. Just sweep across your face and chest with a big fluffy brush.
  • Sure, it’s makeup, but it’s also packed with antioxidants to protect and nourish your complexion (almost like skincare).
  • You can use it as an eyeshadow, too. Just apply with a damp brush for added intensity.
  • Skin kinda sensitive? Prefer chemical-free makeup? This highlighter is for you! Only pure mica and minerals are used in this all-natural powder.

I didn’t have a gold toned highlighter in my collection, so I’m pretty happy about this one – plus it will make a great eye shadow!

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017

Next is a lip balm – Bésame Mucho from Hey Honey (cruelty free):

  • When a product name translates to “kiss me a lot,” you know it’s going to work wonders for your lips.

  • Heard of propolis? We hadn’t either. It’s an extract from beehives that both hydrates and is antibacterial. This balm has loads of it, plus shea butter.

  • Lips feeling parched? Slather on a super thick coat to turn this into an overnight lip mask.

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017

You all know that I’m a lip balm addict, so I’ll make use of this one as soon as I finish up one of the ones currently in use!

Next is the Luxie Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush #660 (cruelty free):

  • We wish we were as good at multitasking as this genius brush! You can use it for all your liquid, cream, or powder foundations, concealers, highlighters AND bronzers. NBD.

  • Earn brush bragging rights. The pretty periwinkle handle looks amazing in your kit, but even better on your vanity.

  • Pssst! We think we know why it’s called “dreamcatcher.” (It’s because it makes all our makeup application dreams come true!)

  • Have a brush with kindness! This fluffy beauty is 100% vegan and cruelty-free.
