Empties January 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have my empties for the month of January. I will link to the original reviews, and let you know whether or not the product is something that I would purchase / or re-purchase.

Skincare:

Indeed Labs Retinol Reface – I really liked this retinol serum, and would buy it again eventually. There are a few retinol serums on my list of products to try.

Be On Me Face Serum – This was a PR / sponsored review product, but I really liked it a lot. I used it every morning before my moisturizer for an added hydration boost. I would purchase this eventually – I have a list of serums that I want to try, so it might take awhile.

Eco by Sonia Driver Super Citrus Cleanser – This was one of the cleansers from my Cert Clean / Clean Beauty Awards judging package. I loved this one, and I would purchase it eventually.

Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Serum – This was gifted to me by a friend. Such a beautiful vitamin C serum! I am using another C based serum from my stash, but I would purchase this one eventually.

Grace & Stella Hello Hydration – This is a great, lightweight serum from my CAUSEBOX subscription. I would purchase this one for summer hydration boosting.

Makeup:

Covergirl Lash Blast Active Mascara – I really liked this mascara, the longer I used it, the more I liked it. I’m currently testing out two new mascaras, so no need to re-purchase at the moment.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector – I’ve been buying this under eye brightening concealer since 2016, so unless I find something that works better, I’ll purchase this again.

Covergirl Exhibitionist Uncensored Waterproof Mascara – Another great mascara from Covergirl. I’m actually testing another waterproof mascara from Covergirl at the moment, so no need to re-purchase.

So there you have it – all of my empties for the month of January!

Thanks for reading

Minimal Makeup Faves for May 2018

Hello, hello!

I cannot believe that it is already June! I thought that I would share my makeup faves for the month of May with you (and links to the reviews).

I’ve been wearing minimal makeup these days, but there are a few products that I’ve reached for on days that I wore makeup:

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream

This is perfect for when I want to be wearing sunscreen, but want some light coverage and evening out of my skintone. I don’t think that I’ve worn regular foundation in weeks! Review is here.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector

I’ve been using this under eye corrector since I purchased it in May 2016. It works well for me, and doesn’t crease on me. I especially need it during allergy season! Review is here.

Elate Cosmetics Creme Revealer

Elate Cosmetics Creme Revealer

I’ve been using this a lot since finishing up my Nyx HD Concealer. It works so well with my skintone, and doesn’t cake up! Review is here.

Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow

Wet n Wild Ultimatebrow Retractable Brow Pencil

I use this brow pencil for days when I want a quick and easy brow. When I have loads of time, I’ll use my SureThik Brow Powder, but when I’m strapped for time, I tend to go for this pencil as it is fool-proof! Review is here.

Essence The False Lashes Mascara or I ❤ Extreme Volume Waterproof Mascara

Both are my go to mascaras because they add volume and hold a curl for my stubborn stick straight lashes. I’ve purchased and repurchased both mascaras several times. Reviews are here and here.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Swatches

I’m always wearing of the the Bite Beauty Lipsticks that I own. I have several and all are swatched in my Sweet Cream review ! I can’t wait to own more!

What were your favourites for May?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: Products purchased by me, except for the Juice Beauty CC Cream and Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick – those were birthday gifts (from my mom).

Hey Honey Active Propolis Cream Concealer Review

Hello, hello!

I received the Hey Honey Active Propolis Cream Concealer in my October GlamBag and I’ve been wear testing it for several days and feel ready to review it. This is the second product from Hey Honey that I’ve gotten from Ipsy. [info in italics is taken from the Hey Honey website]

WHAT IS IT:
An active cream concealer that minimizes the appearance of dark circles and other discolorations around the eye area.

WHY USE IT:
This highly pigmented cream treatment concealer combines a special blend of amino acid Proline and Vitamin E to provide an anti-wrinkle effect for a smoother appearance. Emollient oils support the lipid layer of the skin, minimizing visibility of fine lines.

WHO IS IT FOR:
Normal to Dry Skin Types

HOW TO USE:
Gently squeeze cream from the tube onto a clean fingertip. Apply a small quantity to the under-eye area. A second layer may be applied, until perfect coverage is achieved. Can be used alone, under or on top of foundation.
I always use an undereye concealer, even on days that I’m not wearing foundation – my usual one is the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector (review is here). So how does the Hey Honey one compare?
As you can see in the swatches below – the Hey Honey concealer is peachy toned, whereas the Becca concealer is more pink toned. Both blend well with my skin tone.
HeyHoney4
I was surprised by how moisturizing this concealer is. A little goes a LOOOOOONG way, the first time I tested it out, I had enough concealer for days, haha! It works well to conceal dark circles and brighten the under eye. I haven’t had any issues with creasing either. All in all, I think that this is a great under eye concealer!
It seems to only be available in one shade – natural tone.  I’m doubtful that it would work for darker skintones, but maybe I’m wrong. I’d like to see it swatched on several different skintones to know for sure.
Have you tried this concealer?
Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

September 2017 Empties

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties – I’m pretty happy with the amount that I managed to finish this month. Some are sample-sized and some are full sized.

Sept 2017 Empties

Briogeo Curl Charisma (leave in defining creme sample size) – I have a full size of this already and love it. The original review is here.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer (sample size) – I think that I got this either from Ipsy or from Sephora. I really liked this moisturizer, it is light and hydrating. I’ve never reviewed this one.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector (full size) – I already repurchased this, I use it daily and it helps hide my dark circles. The original review is here.

Sept 2017 Empties

Schmidt’s Deodorant Lavender Tips Sensitive Skin Formula (full size) – I love this natural deodorant. It is baking soda free so it doesn’t trigger a reaction. I’m using up a few deodorants right now, but plan on repurchasing this one. Review is here.

Biokem Purifying Shampoo with Grapefruit Seed (full size, PR sample) – This was a great clarifying shampoo, it lathered well and smelled amazing. If I could buy this locally, I would repurchase. Review is here.

Sept 2017 Empties

Ingenium Naturals Sensi-Net Exfoliate (full size / PR sample) – I really liked this facial scrub, it worked well for my sensitive skin. I have a few scrubs to use up, so I won’t be purchasing a new one for awhile. Review is here.

MyChelle Dermaceuticals Daily Defense Cream SPF17 (full size / PR sample) – I love the sunscreens from MyChelle Dermaceuticals! I still have a few more sunscreens from MyChelle in my stash so I don’t need to repurchase yet. Review is here.

NuWorld Botanicals Sun-Kissed Skin Facial Oil (full size / PR sample) – This is a beautiful facial oil, but I have several to use up in my stash, so I won’t be purchasing a replacement right now. Review is here.

Sept 2017 Empties

Pur-Lisse Blue Lotus Eye Serum (sample size) – I got this in the loot bag from the 2016 Ipsy Genereation Beauty Event. This was a nice eye cream, but I have a few in my stash to use up, so I won’t be purchasing a full size of this. Review is here.

Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask (sample size) – I absolutely loved this mask! It is on my list to purchase once I finish up a few more masks in my stash. Review is here.

Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask (sample size) – Another mask that I really love. It works similar to the Herbivore one for my skin. Review is here.

There you have it! All the stuff I’ve managed to use up this month. Did you finish up much? Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Best of 2016 – The Makeup Edit

Hello, hello! Today I’m showing my picks for my “Best of 2016 Makeup” picks, a few are faves from last year, and most are new for this year.

Best BB/ CC Cream:

it cosmetics1

This one made my faves list again this year – the Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF50 from IT Cosmetics. I only use it in the warmer months because the shade Light is too dark for me this time of year. I want to try it in shade Fair, but I have some things to use up first.

Best Liquid Foundation / Best Powder Foundation:

My fave liquid foundation is the Nars Sheer Glow yet again this year. But I have a tie for best powder foundation – the Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Pressed Finishing Powder (that I recently panned) and the Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation (that I’m close to panning). I’m trying to decide whether or not to re-buy, or to try something new.

Best Concealer:

One of the concealers is a fave from last year, the Nyx HD Concealer in Porcelain, and the other one is the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector, both of which I use daily!

Best Lipstick:

This was a tough one to pick since I have so many faves, but I’ll go with my two most worn lipsticks – both are ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in shades Dopey and Frick n Frack.

Best Highlighter:

ColourPop SuperShock Cheek - Butterfly Beach

Another ColourPop Super Shock Cheek, this time in the shade Butterfly Beach – the PERFECT rose gold highlighter.

Best Blush:

Nyx Ombre Blush

My most reached for blush is from Nyx Ombre Blush in shade Mauve Me, with an honourable mention going to the Essence Silky Touch blushes.

Best Brow Product:

Nyx Tinted Brow Mascara - Espresso

This year I have two picks that I’ve been using sometimes on their own, sometimes together – the Nyx Tinted Brow Mascara and the classic Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil.

Best Palette:

I only purchased one palette in 2016 because I own so many single shadows. I use the Tarte Tartelette Matte palette more than any other shadows in my collection!

Best Mascara:

This year I have a tie between the Essence I ❤ Extreme Volume and the Annabelle Big Show Mascaras – both in the Waterproof versions. Both give my lashes volume, are super black, hold a curl, and don’t clump or flake on me.

So there you have it, my picks for the Best of 2016 Makeup! Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

June 2016 Favourites

Hello, hello!

Today I’d like to show you my favourites for the month of June.

Makeup:

Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette + – Most days this month I’ve used this palette. I absolutely love it. Original review is here.

Black Moon Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Wrath – I’ve worn this lipstick so much this month. Original review is here.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector – I’ve been using this one every single day since I bought it in mid may. It has really helped with my dark circles from insomnia and puffiness from allergies. Original review is here.

Essence Silky Touch Blush in Babydoll – I’ve been wearing this one a lot these days. Perfect for a summer flush. Original review is here.

Skincare:

Saje Sensitive Elixir (Calming Skin Serum) – My nighttime skin serum. Original review is here.

Nuworld Botanicals Sun Kissed Skin Facial Oil * – My morning skin holy grail. Original review is here.

Bath / Body / Wellness:

I really LOVED everything that I tried from Nuworld Botanicals and have been using them daily. *

Stress Relief Multi-Mineral Bath Soak and  Signature Roll-On* . I’ve used the bath salts up (they are in my June Empties post), and I usually have the Roll-On in my bag or next to my bed so I can use it any time. Original reviews are here.

Anxiety Relief Whipped Borage Oil Hand & Foot Butter, the Multi-Nutritive 3-in-1 Oil and the Signature Roll-On *. The Hand & Body Butter is AMAZING, I use it every night (and usually every morning). I’ve been using the 3-in-1 Oil both in the bath and a few drops on the ends of my hair, it is so moisturizing, and the scent is soothing. The Roll-On is usually in my bag in the day time, or next to my bed at night. Original review is here.

Nuworld Botanicals - Energy Boost

Last, but definitely not least, is the Energy Boost Multi-Nutritive 3-in-1 Oil and the Signature Roll-On*. I am so in love with this scent, it is such a great mood booster. I love to use a few drops of the oil in the bath, or in my hair. And the Roll-On is great for on the go pick-me-ups.

I had quite a few faves this month. What about you, what were your favourites this month?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector. I have been curious about this product for ages, and when both Ingrid from Curly Spring Blossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters talked about it, I knew that I had to try it for myself!

I purchased it at the Sephora store on Bloor when I was in Toronto last month, and have been using it daily since then, so I feel like I have given it a good test run. It costs $39 CAD at Sephora, and is listed on the BECCA website for $30 USD.

This innovative Under Eye Brightening Corrector completely eradicates undereye darkness by brightening and blurring imperfections. Infused with ultrafine light-reflecting illuminators, this rich, luminescent cream won’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles as it preps skin for smooth, even concealer coverage. It pairs perfectly with the Ultimate Coverage Concealing Crème to conceal, color correct, and brighten the undereye area.

Here’s the ingredient list:

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Polybutene, Rhus Succedanea Fruit Wax, Kaolin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Barium Sulfate, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Squalane, Zinc Chloride, Aluminum Hydroxide, Trihydroxystearin, Hydrogenated Polycyclopentadiene, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Sodium Lauroyl Aspartatel, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Hexylene Glycol. May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector

My Experience:

Leading up to buying this I was struggling with a bout of insomnia, and then my seasonal allergies kicked in, so my eyes were the perfect testing conditions with both dark circles and puffiness! (Lucky me, I know)

The Under Eye Brightening Corrector does work to blur darkness and brighten the under eye area. I find it to be very hydrating, without being greasy, and it does not settle into fine lines. I won’t say that it completely hides dark circles for me on its own, but paired with a concealer, it does the best job at camouflaging dark circles and puffiness that I’ve used thus far!

Have you tried the Under Eye Brightening Corrector? If not, what is your holy grail product for combatting dark circles?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤
