Quo Beauty Featherweight Cream Blush Review + Swatching (Shade: Halo)

Hello, hello! Welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have a little review and swatching of the Quo Beauty Featherweight Cream Blush in the shade Halo. I purchased it recently as a part of a small haul from Shoppers Drug Mart / Pharmaprix – I believe it was Dal from Little Beauty Loves who made me curious about these cream blushes [info in italics taken from the Shoppers website]

Lightweight, fluffy formula that easily blends into a natural, fresh glow. Easily blendable allowing you to control converge with your fingertips.

Hydrating cream formula Sheer and luminous finish Quick drying.

When I first swatched this cream blush I found that it really does give a beautiful, natural glowing flush to the skin. It blends easily and is long wearing. The colour intensity is buildable – so I can see it working for a wide range of skintones. I apply it with my fingers, and then blend it with either a brush or a sponge.

Based on how easy to apply and how natural the finish is, I’ll likely pick up a few more shades the next time I’m stocking up on mascara.

Shop My Stash – Spring Blush Edit

Hello, hello!

Shop My Stash - Spring Blush Edit

Today I have another Shop My Stash post – this time with my picks for warm toned blushes for spring.

Let’s take a look, going clockwise from the top:

Shop My Stash - Spring Blush Edit

Milani Luminoso – a classic peachy toned blush with gold shimmer. I tend to only use this one in the warm months. Review is here.

Juice Beauty Phyto Pigments Last Looks Cream Blush 04 Flush – Because I’m so fair, I have to be careful with this cream blush, but lightly applied, really gives my skin a healthy and natural looking flush. Review is here.

Essence Silky Touch Blush 10 Adorable – This one is pinky peach toned, very pretty. Review is here.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Paaarty –  This came in the 2017 Sephora Birthday Gift perk. I really love this one, it swatches more pink toned on me. Review is here

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Blissful – a matte peach blush. I only ever reach for this one in the spring / summer. I admit that I’ve had this one FOREVER. Review is here.

I swatched the blushes far heavier than I would actually wear on my face, just so you can really see the shade differences between them all.

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Last Looks Cream Blush Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Phyto-Pigments Last Looks Cream Blush from Juice Beauty that came in my April Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Juice Beauty website]

Enhance cheeks with this luxurious, buildable color. Powered by plant-derived Phyto-Pigments and age-defying serum technology, this creamy formula blends easily and delivers a healthy, natural looking flush that flatters any skin tone. Contains the Juice Beauty exclusive Moisture Blend (vegetable glycerin, grapeseed oil & phospholipids) to help increase skin hydration and the Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments exclusive blend of rose and purple carrot.

This cream blush is available in four shades – Seashell, Flush, Peony, and Orange Blossom. I received the shade Flush, described as a nude beige.

  • Highly blendable formula
  • Adds radiant finish to cheeks
  • Hydrating texture
  • Provides plumping moisture to skin with plant-derived hyaluronic acid
  • Conveniently doubles as a sheer tint for lips
  • Vegan & Cruelty-Free

When I first opened the blush I was afraid that it would be way too dark for my pale skintone.

Thankfully that is not the case, but the colour is buildable and blendable so I think that it would work well for a wide range of skintones. The finish is radiant without being shimmery or glittery.

What do you think of this blush? This is the second cream blush that I’ve ever owned! I really like both the formulation and colour.

Sothys Paris Fall Winter 2017 Makeup Collection

Hello, hello!

I was recently contacted by the Canadian PR team for Sothys Paris to see if I wanted to test out their new fall-winter 2017 makeup collection – Reflet (Reflection).  [Info in italics has been taken from their press release]

For this new season, Sothys holds up a mirror to a beautiful reflection and magnifies your powers of seduction.

First up is the Cream Blush ($45 CAD).

A cream formula that transforms into a powder for a guaranteed healthy glow.

Velvety texture / Soft, satiny finish / Buildable coverage

An Old Rose shade that warms up and brightens the complexion beautifully. It has a smooth, easy-to-apply texture that melts onto the skin.

Sothys Paris

This is the first true cream blush that I’ve ever used. The Old Rose / Voile de Rose shade is very wearable, and I can see it working for a wide range of skintones. Because I’m quite fair, I have to apply with a light hand. I apply it with my fingers first, and then blend it out with a synthetic brush.

Next is the Smoky Eye Duo which is composed of the Contour Eye Pencil and Smoky Eye Pencil in Plum ($48.50 CAD).

Sothys Paris

Creamy texture / Iridescent Finish / Long-lasting

A smoky eye pencil and an eye contour pencil in matching shades for a chic, sophisticated look. A jumbo pencil for easy application and perfect coverage. A retractable eye contour pencil with a fine lead for drawing precision strokes.

Sothys Paris

The Smoky Eye pencil applies smoothly, and can be easily blended out with a synthetic brush. I love the metallic plum effect. The contour eye pencil can be used for a cat eye, or for lining the bottom lashes for a dramatic smoky eye look.

The Velvet Effect Lipstick in Rose Le Pic ($35.95 CAD).

Velvet texture / Matte finish / High coverage

This formula offers a comfortable velvet feel added to a matte, second-skin effect. Elegant packaging with red velvet pouch.

This lipstick is so beautiful – from the packaging to the embossing on the lipstick. It is a super hydrating, velvety matte finish. The shade Rose Lepic is so perfect for fall!

Sothys is available at institutes and spas across Canada (and worldwide).

Here is their statement on animal testing [from website]:

Sothys formulates all its products and treatments without animal testing. Sothys does not believe in this testing method, instead using in vitro and human patch testing to assure its users of its product safety and efficacy.

Disclosure: PR samples, however my opinion is entirely my own.

Essence Silky Touch Blush in Adorable

Hello, hello! Sorry for the slight delay in posting, I had an early client meeting and didn’t get this post up before leaving my house this morning.

Today I’m reviewing another one of the Silky Touch Blushes from Essence in shade 10 Adorable. I picked this one up during my recent mini vacation to Newfoundland with my mom.

Soft as silk! The Silky Touch Blush has an ultra silky texture that blends evenly and easily. Add a touch of natural freshness and radiance to your complexion. Available in 4 glowing shades.

Essence Silky Touch Blush in 10 Adorable

I love the texture of these blushes – so smooth! I own them in shades Adorable and Babydoll (Babydoll is reviewed here) – both blushes give a beautiful, very natural flush to the skin. They aren’t glittery or shimmery, but manage to add a nice radiance to the skin.

Essence Silky Touch Blush - 10 Adorable

Have you tried any of the Essence Silky Touch blushes? Do you like them?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Maison Jacynthe Make-Up Review

Maison Jacynthe

Hello, hello!  Salut mes amis!

Maison Jacynthe

Today I’m super happy to be sharing a few products from a company that is cruelty free AND Canadian. Maison Jacynthe, also known as Les Soins de Jacynthe, a Quebec based company, was founded by Jacynthe René,a Quebec actress, producer and writer. She runs the online magazine jmagazine and has written several books and articles on health, cleansing diets and natural beauty.

Not only is Maison Jacynthe a cruelty free company, it is Beauty Without Bunnies certified! As well, the products are natural using plant based and essential oils, and other active ingredients.

I was invited to test out the recently launched Maison Jacynthe make-up line, I chose to try a concealer, a lipstick, and a blush. So far the makeup line includes mascara (1), lipstick (9), concealer (3), blush (2), face powder (2), bronzers (2), eye shadows (15), and eyeliner (pencil and liquid).

First of all, I want to show you the packaging of the shipping box. This is what arrived in my mailbox! I love that they have their own specialized packaging!

Anti-cernes 01 Beige Léger (Concealer, Light Beige)

First off, the outer packaging of the concealer:

Just wait until you see the product! It really is one of the best looking concealers that I’ve ever seen with its wood and metal casing! Stunning.

Here’s what it says in their catalogue  (any translation mistakes are mine):

Les correcteurs anticernes naturels illuminent le regard, hydratent le contour de l’oeil, estompent les cernes et masquent les rougeurs et les imperfections de façon homogène grâce à leurs pigments réflecteurs de lumière. <These natural corrective concealers illuminate the skin, hydrate the eye contour, fade dark circles and mask redness and blemishes thanks to their light reflecting pigments>

This concealer really is hydrating, it applies smoothly. It blends in seamlessly with my skintone as you can see in the photo (on the left swatched, on the right blended).

On my face, it blends in naturally and doesn’t crease. I’ve been using this daily both with foundation, or just with my finishing powder.

Rouge à lèvres 06 Bois de Rose Transparent Mate (Lipstick 06 Rosewood)

The packaging for the lipstick is similar to that of the concealer. Beautiful.

The product packaging is so luxurious! It stands out among my lipstick collection!

Here’s what it says on the website (again, any translation mistakes are mine):

Les rouges à lèvres naturels offrent une couleur éclatant tout en prenant soin des lèvres. Les actifs tels que la cire de Candelilla leur donnent un aspect crémeux et fluide et agissent comme un baume protecteur. Riches en pigments, ils sont proposés en dégradés par le rose et le beige rosé. Des rouges à lèvres principalement couvrants, de couleur mate ou nacrée, avec une excellente tenue longue durée, pur un maquillage en toute simplicité. <These lipsticks give a brilliant colour while taking care of the lips. Active ingredients such as Candelilla wax give a creamy and fluid look and feel like a lip balm. Rich in pigments, they are available in nine different shades, in both matte and pearl finishes, long lasting>

This lipstick feels like a lip balm when applied, very moisturizing and comfortable on the lip. The colour is slightly sheer and glossy, and long wearing. And the colour is so perfect for fall!

Fard à joues 01 Romé0 (Blush 01 Romeo)

The blushes / bronzers, face powders, and eye shadows come in refill packaging, and can be placed into their beautiful refillable compacts, or even into a Z-Palette / other refillable palette.

Here’s what it says in the catalogue description (any translation mistakes are mine):

Les fardes à joues naturels ont aussi une excellente tenue pour une teint sublimé et structuré. Mats et légèrement brillants, ils procurent un effet bonne mine immédiat. <These natural blushes are also an excellent way to add a subtle or structured flush to the skin. Matte yet lightly shiny, these blushes provide a healthy glow.>

Maison Jacynthe Fard a Joues

When I first opened this blush, I thought that I made made a terrible mistake in colour choice as it looks like it would be really dark on my fair skin. But with a light touch in application, it gives my skin a subtle healthy glow. If I’m heavy handed in application, I look like a clown! The shade Romeo is perfect for fall, especially when paired with the Rouge à lèvres / Lipstick in Bois de Rose / Rosewood.

This was my first experience with using products from Maison Jacynthe. I don’t think that it will be my last, as they have a skincare line as well that looks amazing! I’m looking forward to seeing more from this Quebec company.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! Merci! ❤

Disclosure: I received these products in exchange for an honest review.

July Faves (2016)

Hello, hello!

I cannot believe that it is the end of July already! This summer is flying by!

Today I’d like to show you my faves for the month.

Skincare:

Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner – this facial mist is so refreshing and soothing. I use it after I was my face, and during the day whenever I feel that I need a blast of soothing goodness. Especially great during the past two weeks of super hot and humid weather. Reviewed here.

Sukin Purifying Facial Masque – I’ve been multi-masking these days, using this one everywhere except for my nose and chin. Reviewed here.

Pixi Glow Mud Mask – I’ve been using this one on my nose and chin along with the above mentioned Sukin Facial Mask. I’m going to be sad when this one is finished since I haven’t found anywhere that carries Pixi since the closure of Target. Reviewed here. *

NuWorld Botanicals Multi-Nutritive 3-in-1 Oil in Energy Boost – I’ve been using this one a LOT these days, in the bath, or applied after a bath or shower, even in my hair. I just love the scent! It is a definite mood lifter!  Reviewed here. *

Schmidt's Natural Deodorant

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant – I just reviewed this on Monday, but this is a definite fave. Especially after the hot and humid weather! Best deodorant that I’ve EVER used. Review is here.

Make-up:

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Frick’n’Frack and Dopey. This summer I’ve been all about rose toned lips. Reviewed here and here.

Blush and Bronzer – GenBeauty & Toronto Haul Edit

Hello, hello!

Today I’m going to swatch and review the blushes and bronzers that I received for free at the Generation Beauty event, or purchased while in Toronto.

First up is the gorgeous Too Faced Sweethearts Bronzer in Sweet Tea. *Generation Beauty freebie from the Too Faced booth*

Blend both swatches together for one universal shade or use each swatch individually for a custom color.

MORE TO LOVE:

  • With two perfect swatches, you can just swirl the colors together and apply, or use more of one shade for a custom glow or highlight.
  • Blend both swatches together for one universal shade or use each swatch individually for custom color.
  • Baked color formula allows the bronzer to be applied as a beautiful buildable finish.
  • Works on all skin tones.
  • Color Descriptions: Golden Beige, Brewed Tea Bronze

My Experience:

Ok first off I have to say that Too Faced has such beautiful packaging!

I was a little scared by this bronzer at first, but the shade can work for all skin tones. Lighter skin tones like mine just have to be careful not to apply too heavy handed.

I swatched the bronzer heavily just to show the difference between the two different sides of the bronzer. Aren’t they gorgeous?

Up next is the Essence Silky Touch Blush in shade 02 Babydoll. *I purchased this at the Essence Booth at the Generation Beauty event with their five products for $15 CAD promotion*

silk skin: a fresh complexion is essential for perfect style! you can set gorgeous, natural-looking highlights in soft as well as brighter shades on your cheeks with this silky-soft blush.

My Experience:

This blush really is silky soft. It applies like a dream and gives a natural looking flush to the skin.

And last but not least we have the Nyx Cosmetics Ombre Blush in Mauve Me. *I purchased this at the Nyx store after the Generation Beauty event*

Nyx Ombre Blush

Treat your cheeks to a radiant flush of color with our Ombré Blush, a new gradient blush inspired by the ombré trend. This must-have formula features two silky colors blended into one perfectly coordinated shade combo. (It’s like they were meant for each other.)

My Experience:

This blush is so pretty. It really does give my skin a radiant glow when I wear it.

I’m super happy with all three of these cheek products and have been using them pretty much non-stop since I returned home from Toronto.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Generation Beauty Purchases & Toronto Haulage

Hello, hello!

Today I’d like to show you what I purchased at the Generation Beauty event and other things that I purchased while in Toronto.

Generation Beauty Purchases:

Generation Beauty Purchases

At the Essence Cosmetics Booth, they had a pick any five products for $15. As you can see I chose a mascara, a lip oil, an eyeshadow primer, a nail polish and a blush.

Generation Beauty Purchases

I purchased a fan brush at the Luxie booth. It was just under $15. Sadly the bristles got a little crunched in my bag on the way back to Montreal, but hopefully I can fix that.

The last thing that I purchased was a Flawless Face Blender. Crown Brush’s version of the Beauty Blender. I paid $6 for this sponge.

Friday Shopping:

Toronto Haulage

I picked up two solid perfumes from H&M on Friday while wandering around downtown waiting for my friend to finish work.

Toronto Haulage

I also popped into Sephora on Friday specifically looking for the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector. This was a “blogger made me buy it” purchase as I’d been wanting this ever since Stashy reviewed it on her blog.

Epic Saturday Meetup and Shopping:

After spending a few hours at the Generation Beauty Show, I was able to meet up with two fellow bloggers – Cat from My Lip Addiction, and Stashy from Stash Matters!

We went to a cafe because it was really windy and cold, and both wanted to see the loot that I got at the Generation Beauty event. Once we had caffeinated and warmed up we headed out for some shopping, hitting the Marshal’s store where Stashy often finds great stuff. The key is to go often because the stock changes frequently.

After that, we headed to Queen Street West to the Nyx store. It was jam packed, but we managed to elbow our way through the masses to look at the products.

I purchased the Ombre Blush at the Nyx store in Mauve Me.

After that we headed to the Saje store where everything smells AMAZING. I could have spent all my money there but restrained myself to just buying one thing.

Toronto Haulage

Again, this was a “blogger made me buy it” purchase, and also a Stashy reviewed product.

We also went to Urban Outfitters to see what they had in their beauty section, and also checked out an Asian Beauty shop (sadly I have no idea of the store’s name). We probably spent more time talking than actually shopping!

Both Cat and Stashy are genuinely lovely. I’m so happy that I was able to meet them and spend time with them in real life! I absolutely cannot wait to hang out with them the next time I’m in Toronto, or maybe I can convince them to come to Montreal. ❤

So there you have it, that is everything that I purchased while in Toronto. Reviews to follow once I’ve tested everything out.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Disclosure: I purchased all of these things!
