Empties January 2020

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties. I didn’t finish up as much as I’d hoped, and am SO CLOSE to finishing a couple of moisturizers. But progress is progress when it comes to finishing up things from my stash! I’m on a low buy, so if I say I’ll purchase / re-purchase it means that I would do so eventually. My goal is to only buy necessities.

Skincare Empties:

Empties January 2020 - Skincare

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA, and Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% – I have at least two more acid type peels to use up, and at least three serums to use up, and so many on my wishlist, that it is doubtful that I will repurchase in the near future. Reviews are here and here.

Derma E Radiance Toner (Glycolic Acid & Rooibos) – I liked this toner (Petit Vour subscription sample). I have other toners to use up, but I really liked this one as it felt gentle. Review is here.

Lavido Aromatic Body Lotion (Mandarin, Orange & Bergamot) – Another Petit Vour sample. I mainly used this as a hand cream, it worked great! I have other body lotions in my stash to use up. Review is here.

Kalos After Hours Soothing Night Cream – A Petit Vour sample. I’m sad that this is empty, it is such an amazing and gentle night cream, especially great for dry and sensitive skin. This one is on my wishlist, as I have a few more moisturizers and creams to use up. Review is here.

Kariderm Moisturizing Protective Cream – This was a PR sample. Another amazing face cream, great for dry and sensitive skin. Lightweight in texture but really hydrating. I would purchase this if I didn’t have a few more to finish up! Review is here.

Makeup Empties:

Empties Jan 2020 2

Catrice Rock Couture Extreme Volume Mascara (Waterproof) – I liked this mascara, but I didn’t love it because it didn’t give me enough volume so I won’t repurchase this one. Review is here.

Maison Jacynthe Fluide de Teint Fluid Foundation – PR Sample. This was in my stash way too long for a liquid product (2.5 years!), so it had to go. I currently have a few foundations in my stash and a list of more that I want to try, so no purchase right now. Review is here.

Hey Honey Trick and Treat Concealer – I think this was an Ipsy Glam Bag sample. A fantastic concealer, I finished it up by mainly using it for toning down the redness in my cheeks on minimal makeup (no foundation) days. I have other concealers to use up currently. Review is here.

Not pictured: Nyx #NOFILTER Finishing Powder – I finally finished this powder! And I cannot find it – I think that the packaging might have gone out in last week’s recycling. I really liked this finishing powder, but I have others in my stash to use up, and a list of powders that I’d like to try. Review is here.

Did you finish up much this month?

Petit Vour August 2019

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate @1.3595  my box cost me $31.27 CAD this month.

Let’s take a closer look at what was in this month’s Petit Vour box:

Hopefully this mascara will actually work for my sensitive eyes that easily water. I will have to test it out over the next couple of days!

Honua Hawaiian Skincare Pa’akai Cleansing Cream (sample size 1 oz – $12 USD, travel size 2 oz – $24 USD, full size 4 oz – $42 USD)

Cleansing Hawaiian salt and antioxidant rich hibiscus combine to create a gentle daily cleanser that will leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. I will probably only use this as a spot treatment for occasional breakouts, as my skin is not prone to major breakouts.

Derma E Firming DMAE Moisturizer Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Firming DMAE Moisturizer from Derma E. I purchased this moisturizer after using up one of the moisturizers in my stash and have been testing it out for several weeks. [info in italics taken from the Derma E website]

Derma E DMAE Firming Moisturizer

Visibly firm, lift and smooth skin with this skin-firming formula. Rich in moisture and nutrients, this nourishing cream contains ingredients shown to help addressing loss of elasticity. Our formula contains DMAE, known as nature’s firming agent, Alpha Lipoic Acid, known as the universal antioxidant and C-Ester plus moisturizing Jojoba Oil and nourishing Vitamins A and E. This replenishing formula leaves skin thoroughly hydrated, nourished and firmer-looking. Ideal for those who are looking to visibly firm and lift the face or neck. 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten-free, GMO-free.

This moisturizer suggests that you do a patch test before using due to Alpha Lipoic Acid can cause a reaction in some people’s skin. Because I have sensitive skin, I always do a patch test for new skincare, first on my arm, then on my neck before putting anything on my face these days.

It has a very faint tingle when applied. Not a “Danger! Face melting off!” tingle. The feeling is hard to describe. The closest feeling would be to that of a really gentle lip plumper.

Derma E Firming DMAE Moisturizer

It is very rich, and hydrating, but doesn’t feel heavy or greasy. And it makes my skin look super smooth! As an added plus, it works like a primer with my Deciem Serum Foundation, and various concealers in my stash. I haven’t tested it with any other foundations in my stash yet.

Derma E Firming DMAE Moisturizer

Ingredients: Purified Water, Glycerin (Vegetable Derived), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Plant Derived), Stearic Acid (Vegetable Derived), Glyceryl Stearate SE, Thioctic (Alpha Lipoic) Acid, Cetyl Alcohol (Plant Derived), Glyceryl Stearate Citrate (Vegetable Derived), Dimethyl MEA (DMAE), Polysorbate 20, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C Ester), Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Dimethicone, Allantoin, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance.

Overall I’m really happy with the Firming DMAE Moisturizer. I have my eye on a few cleansers that I would like to try once I finish up one more from my skincare stash.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Purifying Daily Detox Scrub from Derma E, a brand that I’ve been wanting to try for ages. This sample sized tube came in my February Petit Vour subscription box. [info in italics taken from Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour February 2018

Gentle enough for daily use, this detox scrub lifts away micro-pollutants and impurities while promoting oxygenation for a fresh, healthy radiance. Doctor developed and clinically tested, this revitalizing formula contains some of the most powerful minerals and natural toxin fighters from the earth and from the sea.

Kimarine® Wakame is a potassium-rich, magnesium-rich seaweed that is clinically proven to protect skin against environmental pollutants (exhaust fumes, cigarette smoke, heavy metals). Bladderwrack is an antioxidant-rich, mineral-rich seaweed known for its water-binding properties, supporting healthy skin hydration and nourishment. Activated Charcoal, known for absorbing 100 to 200 times its weight in impurities, helps remove toxins from the skin’s surface. Apricot Seed Powder gently exfoliates away micro-pollutants, and Green Tea delivers potent antioxidant defense.

Ideal for oily and active skin types and even safe for reactive skin (minimal ingredients and allergy-tested), this formula boosts skin purity for a refreshed, glowing complexion.

Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub

Because I have sensitive skin, that is easily irritated, I only use facial scrubs about once or twice a week. I really like this facial scrub as it is fairly gentle and doesn’t make my skin feel dry or irritated, while at the same time, it makes my skin feel like it has been super deep cleansed.

Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Gel Extract*, Cetyl Alcohol (Plant Derived), Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Seed Powder, Glycerin (Vegetable Derived), Coco-Caprylate (Coconut Derived), Charcoal Powder, Fucus Vesiculosus (Bladderwrack) Extract, Undaria Pinnatifida (Wakame, Kimarine®) Extract, Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract*, Menthol, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate (Vegetable Derived), Xanthan Gum, Diheptyl Succinate, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Menthyl Lactate, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Coco-Glucoside (Coconut Derived), Glyceryl Oleate (Plant Derived), Iron Oxides, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.

Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub

I’m so happy that I finally got to try something from Derma E! I’m fairly certain that it won’t be the last time you will see a Derma E product tested out and reviewed here.

Have you tried anything from Derma E? What do you recommend?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day ❤

Petit Vour Unboxing February 2018
