Empties July 2019

Empties July 2019

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties for you with links to the original reviews, and whether or not I plan to purchase / re-purchase right away or eventually.

Skincare:

Empties July 2019 - Skincare - EiR NYC, The Ordinary, Blissona, BKind, Kahina Giving Beauty

EiR NYC Active Face Wash – This was a Petit Vour box sample. Quite possibly the most unappealing looking foaming face wash, but I really LOVED this one for washing off my sunscreen and makeup at the end of hot and humid days. Definitely going on my wishlist! Original review is here.

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG – This is the last product in my mini project pan for serums. You only need the smallest amount for your undereye, so this one took forever to finish up. I really like it, but want to try out something new. Original review is here.

Blissoma Refine Clay Renewal Treatment – Another Petit Vour sample. This was such an awesome mask, I’d love to own a full size. I have several masks to use up, so onto the wishlist it goes. Original review is here.

BKind Sensitive Skin Face Scrub – Yet another Petit Vour sample, a great exfoliating and moisturizing scrub, super gentle. I have other scrubs to finish up but I would purchase a full size of this one. Review is here.

Kahina Giving Beauty Oil Cleanser – Another Petit Vour sample. I loved this oil cleanser, so very gentle and effective. I’m still working my through my cleanser stash, so you guessed it, onto the wishlist it goes. Review is here.

Makeup:

Empties July 2019 - Makeup - Covergirl, Essence, Suntegrity

Covergirl Exhibitionist Waterproof Mascara – I liked this mascara a lot. I won’t be repurchasing this one because there are others from Covergirl that I’d like to try. Review is here.

Essence Volume Hero Waterproof Mascara – Similarly, I liked this mascara quite a bit as well, but I won’t be repurchasing this one but there are others from Essence that I’d like to try. Review is here.

Suntegrity Impeccable Skin Moisturizing Face Sunscreen Tinted SPF 30 – Another Petit Vour sample. This was slightly too light for me recently, but I started adding in the KVoss Bronzing Potion Glow Cream and not only did it make the shade perfect for me, it added radiance and made the finish less matte / less drying on my skin. Review is here.

Empties July 2019

Overall, I’m happy that I’m making steady progress at using up the products in my stash. Did you finish up much this month?

EiR NYC Active Face Wash Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Active Face wash from EiR NYC that came in my April Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from Petit Vour]

EiR NYC Active Face Wash

Made with an ancient recipe of African black soap, this face wash is an epidermal skin revival system that exfoliates, minimizes scarring, and brings breakouts to a screeching halt. Also, a great solution to stubborn zinc sun protection on the face.

I have to say that this cleanser is the most unappealing looking facial wash that I’ve ever used – it looks like muddy water in the package. And when you shake it up, it comes out as a dirty looking foam.

But don’t let that stop you from trying out this face wash because it is ALL KINDS OF AWESOME! It is gentle on my sensitive skin, and makes my face feel deeply cleansed without being drying. And despite how it looks, it has the most wonderful scent (without being over-scented or perfumey) likely due to the combination of lavender, ylang ylang, geranium, sage and cammomile essential oils.

EiR NYC Active Face Wash

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Water, Shea Butter, Shea Tree Bark Ash, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Pods Ash, Plantain Ash, Coconut Oil, Sustainable Palm Oil, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Rose, Geranium, Sage, Chamomile Essential Oil Blend

Have you tried this one?

Petit Vour Unboxing + First Impressions April 2019

Hello, hello!

Petit Vour April 2019

My April Petit Vour box arrived yesterday, and I’ve managed to unbox and photograph it this morning. I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out. [all info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate @ 1.3708 my box cost me $31.53 CAD this month.

Petit Vour April 2019

Let’s take a look at what was in the April Petit Vour box:

Petit Vour April 2019

Caley Cosmetics Beach Babe Natural Brows $14 USD (full size)

Perfect brows are an easy breeze with this ultra-fine natural brow pencil. Create any shape you wish with this easy to use defining pencil that mimics the look of natural hair. Transform fussy or shapeless brows with tamed precision by filling in sparse hairs and outlining the size and shape with perfect symmetry.

Petit Vour April 2019

I tend use brow pencils more often than gels or powders, so hopefully the brunette shade that I received is a good colour match.

EiR NYC Active Face Wash $20 USD (full size)

Made with an ancient recipe of African black soap, this face wash is an epidermal skin revival system that exfoliates, minimizes scarring, and brings breakouts to a screeching halt. Also, a great solution to stubborn zinc sun protection on the face.

Petit Vour April 2019

This sounds like a great facial cleanser, I look forward to testing it out. The cleanser does not look appealing in the container, as it is muddy brown in colour.

Blissoma Refine Clay Renewal Treatment Mask $10 USD (sample size 0.5 oz, full size is $40 USD for 2.4 oz)

The mask base is Rhassoul clay, mined from lava clay beds in Morocco. […]  Rhassoul has been shown to improve the appearance of skin flakiness and texture, improve hydration, improve the appearance of coloration, and improve the appearance of skin irritations. […] Willowbark and raw organic Celery Juice aid with gentle, non mechanical exfoliation to keep pores deeply cleansed and unclogged. […] Herb extracts of organic Chickweed and Fennel further draw out impurities and deep clean pores. Organic Roses, Olive Leaf, and Echinacea improve the appearance of skin’s tone and firmness. This mask is highly recommended for troubled and acne prone skin types. Refine keeps pores softened and open by removing dead skin cells and balancing hydration. You can dot it on a blemish and leave it on overnight to reduce the visible appearance of redness and swelling in breakouts.

Unrefined Oils of organic Cranberry seed and organic Red Raspberry straight from pressing offer nourishment and natural source Vitamin E. […] With Refine even dry skin types can enjoy Blissoma’s clay creation because of how they have balanced the clay with oils and liquid herb extracts. The essential oil penetrates skin with an intoxicating aroma that you’ll look forward to every time you use this product.

Petit Vour April 2019

I had to cut out some of the description otherwise this blog post would go on for days. This clay mask sounds awesome, and I can’t wait to test it out!

Juice Beauty Antioxidant Serum $6 USD (sample size 7.8 ml / 0.26 oz, full size is $48 USD for 2 oz)

Clinically proven to help reduce free radicals up to 87%, this lightweight serum feeds your skin with vitamins and antioxidants from certified organic botanical juices, moisturizes with fatty acid-packed plant oils and smoothes the appearance of fine lines with peptides, alpha lipoic acid and CoQ10. The perfect daily vitamin to use after cleansing and before your moisturizer. A Daily Essential for all skin types.

Petit Vour April 2019

I’m super excited to try this serum, especially since I just recently purchased the Brightening Gel Cleanser from Juice Beauty. This one sounds perfect for my skin type!

Petit Vour April 2019

This month’s box was valued at $50 USD – which works out to $68.54 CAD. All in all, I’m absolutely thrilled with this month’s box. Reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test everything out!

What do you think of this month’s box?

EiR NYC Tough Love Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Tough Love Balm from EiR NYC that came in my February Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

EiR NYC Tough Love

We all need to feel the soothing warmth of love and some of our rough and scratchy patches need it even more. The Neem oil used in the Tough Love softening salve is known to have antifungal and antiseptic properties. Improves elasticity for rough skin, feet, elbows, and cuticles that need some extra love.

EiR NYC Tough Love

I love little balms and salves, I usually have a few of them in my stash for various uses.

EiR NYC Tough Love

So how is this one?

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! Seriously. Tough Love is a multi-purpose balm that is filled with so many beautiful healing ingredients like arnica, calendula, and neem. It works great as a cuticle balm (which I need during the winter), but it also works amazingly well on dry patches. I had a bit of a skin irritation (very likely a mild eczema or sensitivity flare-up) from using a natural deodorant with baking soda for too many consecutive days, and I applied a little bit to the irritated skin, and it helped soothe and calm my skin!

EiR NYC Tough Love

And it smells really nice without being over-scented.

I’d recommend this to anyone as long as you don’t have a sensitivity to any of the below listed ingredients:

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | *Coconut oil, *Shea Butter, Sunflower Wax, Sweet Almond Oil, *Arnica and *Calendula infused Olive Oil, Castor Wax, Vitamin E, Lavender, Palmarosa, Geranium Essential Oil Blend, Neem Oil

Unboxing & First Impressions Petit Vour February 2019

Hello, hello!

My February Petit Vour arrived on March 1st. I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out. [all info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour February 2019

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate (@ 1.3478) my box cost me $31 CAD this month.

Let’s take a look at what was in the February Petit Vour box:

Antonym Natural Waterproof Eye Pencil in shade Brown $19 USD

Petit Vour February 2019

A creamy, Ecocert certified, waterproof eye pencil that offers professional performance. Soft and smooth application with rich color pay-off guaranteed to help you achieve the desired look, from a precise line to a perfect smudge for smoky eyes. The high content of moisturizing ingredients and natural antioxidants, marula oil, jojoba oil, candelilla and carnauba are excellent for sensitive skin.

I’m so happy that the eyeliner is brown and not black as I have quite a stash of black eyeliners. It comes with a sharpener too – which I love because I’m always misplacing my sharpener!

Shamanuti Seaweed Toner $10 USD for 1 oz, $28 USD for 4 oz

Petit Vour February 2019

Skin loves this delicious nutrient and mineral rich toner. It adjusts pH and refines the pores. It will nourish and hydrate the skin while removing any residual make-up or cleanser. Excellent to set makeup as well as a calming aftershave. Always carry this as a companion on long drives or airplane trips to give skin a refresher along your travels. Suitable for all skin types.

I love, love, love facial toner mists. Very excited to try it out!

EiR NYC Tough Love Cuticle Balm $14 USD for 0.5 oz

Petit Vour February 2019

We all need to feel the soothing warmth of love and some of our rough and scratchy patches need it even more. The Neem oil used in the Tough Love softening salve is known to have antifungal and antiseptic properties. Improves elasticity for rough skin, feet, elbows, and cuticles that need some extra love.

I really use cuticle balms – especially in the winter, my hands and cuticles get so dry!

Formulary 55 Sea Mineral Foot Soak $7 USD for 1.5 oz

Petit Vour February 2019

Perfect for tired feet, this fizzing foot soak is a wonderful way to end a long day. This peppermint and eucalyptus effervescent foot soak is made with pure essential oils and Dead Sea mineral salts.

This sounds interesting, I look forward to trying it out.

Petit Vour February 2019

The total value of this month’s Petit Vour box adds up to $ 50 USD which converts to $67.39 CAD.

What do you think of this month’s box? I think that is is pretty great this month, and I can’t wait see what is in the March box!

June 2018 Empties

Hello, hello!

I cannot believe it is July already! This month I didn’t finish up as many products as I had hoped, once again, there are so many things that are NEARLY but not quite finished.

Let’s take a look – it is only body and skincare as I haven’t continued going through and decluttering my lipsticks.

Bath and Body Empties:

Empties June 2018

Wildcraft Buff Face and Body Scrub – I love this exfoliating scrub for body use as my face is far too sensitive for this type of exfoliation. It smells like spearmint in a refreshing and non-toothpaste way! I’ll be replacing this as soon as I use up a few more things in my stash. Review is here.

Tom’s Of Maine Deodorant in Soothing Calendula – This deodorant is NOT for me. It worked great at first but it seemed that the longer that I used it, the worse that it worked for me. I’ve heard that it works amazing for some people. I’ve been trying to use this up for so long – and only using it on days that I was working from home. Review is here.

EIR NYC Sunset Oil – This came in my May Petit Vour box. I absolutely loved this body oil for when I got out of the shower. I’m hoping to find something similar but a little more budget friendly. Review is here.

Skincare Empties:

Empties June 2018

Zabana Essentials Banana and Colloidal Oatmeal Face Mask + Scrub – I really liked this facial mask that came in my May Petit Vour box. The sample pack was large enough to get at least 6 to 8 uses! I have things to use up in my stash so I won’t be buying a full size of this one right now. Review is here.

Shamanuti Pumpkin Enzyme Masque – Another Petit Vour product. This was a great mask, but I can find another, more budget friendly dupe. Again, no rush to try to find a dupe for it as I am still working my way through my stash. Review is here.

Ingenium Naturals Tsubaki Oil – This was a great multi-purpose oil. I’ve used it on my face, in my hair, and even in the bath. I have a bunch of oils to use up, so I won’t be replacing this right now. This was a PR sample. Review is here.

Andalou Naturals Goji Peptide Perfecting Cream – This was also from a Petit Vour box. The sample was small, so I could only give first impressions on this facial cream. Again, I have several things to use up in my stash so no need to buy a full size to test right now. Review is here.

Nearly Finished:

Empties June 2018

Wet N Wild Photofocus Pressed Powder – I hit pan on this last month, and it is still hanging on! Hopefully I’ll be able to finish it up in July. Review is here.

So there you have it – all the things that I’ve managed to finish this month. Not as much as I had hoped, but progress is progress. Did you finish up much this month?

Empties June 2018

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: All purchased by me except for the Wildcraft Buff (gift from a friend) and the Ingenium Naturals Tsubaki Oil (PR sample).

EiR NYC Sunset Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Sunset Oil from EiR NYC that came in my May Petit Vour subscription box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour May 2018 Unboxing

An essential for beach bums, this arnica and aloe-infused body oil contains soothing essential oils and vitamins to restore parched skin damaged by the sun, salt, and wind. For everyday use or to be applied post-sun to keep skin extra-moisturized.

The Review: I’ve been using the EiR NYC Sunset Oil since it arrived when I get out of the shower or bath because it smells amazing and my skin is so smooth and hydrated after using! It keeps my legs moisturized all day! I really like this body oil!

Price-wise the full size bottle is $35 USD for 8 oz –  it is little on the spendy side, but not outrageously so as a little goes a long way. My sample was 1 oz, and I’ve gotten several uses out of it, and still have at least one of two uses left before I finish it!

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Olive Oil,  Sweet Almond Oil, *Coconut Oil, *Arnica, *Calendula-infusion, Jojoba Oil, *Aloe Vera, Vitamin E,  Lavender, Rose, Geranium and *Chamomille, Essential Oil Blend, *Rosemary Extract. | *Certified Organic Ingredients

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Eir NYC Sunset Oil (sample size $7 for 1 oz, full size $35 USD for 8oz)

Petit Vour May 2018 Unboxing

Au Naturale Cosmetics Color Theory Creme Corrector ($24 USD full size)

Petit Vour May 2018 Unboxing

Au Naturale’s Color Theory Creme Correctors were designed using complementary color theory, (hues opposite to one another on the color wheel neutralize when mixed) in order to counter under eye circles, blemishes and other skin quirks.

The Creme Corrector is available in five different correcting shades: Linen, Peach, Flax, Sweet Basil and Lavender. Here’s the breakdown of what each shade is targeted for:

  • Linen – perfect for brightening the eye area and hiding signs of fatigue. Pink and peach concealers are best to combat dark under eye circles.
  • Peach – to hide dark circles or other spots for those with medium to dark skin tones.
  • Flax – to conceal purple or blue bruises, veins or under eye circles. Yellow concealers are the most versatile and are great for evening out skin tone and brightening complexions.
  • Sweet Basil – to neutralize any redness due to acne, scarring, rosacea, windburn or sunburn. Green concealers significantly reduce redness and give foundation an even base.
  • Lavender – to eliminate any unwanted yellow undertones/spots on your skin. Purple concealers will brighten pasty, dull or yellow complexions.

I received the shade Flax. I had a concealer from Au Naturale when I first stated blogging, and I remember really liking the formula (review is here). Hopefully I’ll love this one too!

Total value of this month’s box is $63.50 USD, and with the exchange rate that works out to be $84.09 CAD – wow!

Petit Vour May 2018 Unboxing

What do you think of this month’s box? I’m really happy with this month’s box, and can’t wait to test everything out! Reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!
