EVOLVh SmartCurl Leave-In Conditioner Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have a little review of the EVOLVh SmartCurl Leave-In Conditioner. EVOLVh is one of my favourite hair care brands, and I’ve tried a lot of their products – both gifted and self-purchased – so when I was asked if I wanted to the one of their Leave-In Conditioners, of course I said yes! I chose the SmartCurl Leave-In Conditioner. [info in italics taken from the EVOLVh website]

EVOLVh SmartCurl Leave In Conditioner

This weightless wonder helps keep dry & frizzy curls on point. Powered by fatty acids-rich shea butter and coconut oil, this light-yet-hydrating formula strengthens strands, fends off flyaways and minimizes breakage while protecting hair from heat and UV damage. Finally, a leave-in conditioner for all curls types and low & high porosity hair,  that’s effective as it is easy.

EVOLVh SmartCurl Leave In Conditioner

This is one of those products that pretty much does it all – it hydrates, it detangles, it combats frizz, and it is a heat and UV protectant. And it does it all without making my hair feel heavy or gross.

EVOLVh SmartCurl Leave In Conditioner

I’ve previously tried and reviewed the SmartStart Leave-In Conditioner and the InstaVolume Elixir – both of which are great, it just depends on what your hair needs.

Have you tried this one?

Cumulative Empties Sep 2021 to Feb 2022

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Skincare

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have my empties that I’ve accumulated over the past six months. There actually should be more, but I think that a few things got misplaced or recycled.

Skincare:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Skincare

Made for Me Hydrating Moisturizer and Brightening C Serum (*PR Gifted) – Both the moisturizer and serum are amazing, and I’d would highly recommend both of them. I have a bunch of serums and moisturizers to use up in my stash, but I would purchase these. Reviews are here.

Haircare:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Haircare

Garnier Fructis Hydrating Treat Conditioner (Aloe Extract) – This is a great budget friendly conditioner. I would re-purchase this eventually – but right now I’m committed to using the Keratinworks line to maintain my hair post salon treatment. Review is here.

EVOLVh Smart Start Leave-In Conditioner (*PR Gifted) and Ultrashine Moisture Shampoo – Both are amazing, and I could see myself purchasing eventually. Reviews are here and here.

Kristin Ess Beach Wave Spray – This is a great product for enhancing my wavy hair and giving it that beachy wave effect. I would re-purchase eventually. Review is here.

Noughty To The Rescue Intense Moisture Treatment – An awesome budget friendly hair mask – I loved this, and would likely repurchase. Review is here.

Bath and Body:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Bodycare

Haus of Gloi Lily Cake Bubbling Scrub (*This was birthday gift) – I love the bubbling scrubs from Haus of Gloi. I’ve purchased them many times over the years in different scents, and will do so again eventually.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Body Cream – I’ve purchased this several times, and will do so again eventually. It is such an amazing body cream. Review is here.

Naturewell Hydrolyzed Collagen Moisture Cream (*PR gifted) – Another amazing body cream. Great for winter dryness. I would purchase this one as it is super effective and budget friendly. Review is here.

Lowen’s Natural Skincare Salt of the Earth Sea Salt Scrub – I would definitely re-purchase this body scrub. It smells amazing, its super hydrating, and exfoliates really well. Review is here.

Makeup:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Makeup

Flower Beauty Warrior Princess Mascara – I liked this mascara, scored it a 6.25 out of 7. It was good, but not holy grail for me. Review is here.

Essence Cosmetics Bye Bye Panda Eyes! and #Lashes of the Day Mascaras – Bye Bye Panda Eyes I scored 6.25 out of 7, but I found that this mascara got better over time. I would buy this one again, because it improved, so I’d increase the score to 6.75 out of 7. Lashes of the day scored higher at 6.5 out of 7, but it didn’t get any better over time, so I don’t think I would repurchase. Reviews are here and here.

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara – This mascara scored a 6 out of 7. It was good, but not great for me. I’ve tried and liked other Covergirl mascaras better. Review is here.

So did you finish up many products over the past couple of months?

EVOLVh DreamGel Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

EVOLVh DreamGel

Today I’m reviewing the newly launched DreamGel Strong Hold Styler from EVOLVh that I received from their PR Team. Even though I haven’t used hair gel in a million years, I was curious to try as I’ve loved everything I’ve ever tried from the brand! I received it before the launch date to test it out. [info in italics taken from their press release]

DreamGel is hair gel reinvented. This modern gel does it all: hold, volume, texture, shine, smoothing, definition and control. It leaves hair soft and touchable, and the performance lasts for 2-3 days and beyond

DreamGel contains tapioca starch which absorbs excess oils for extending time between washes and amino acids which strengthen strands to reduce splitting and breakage, making it not only a remarkable styler but a strengthening treatment too.

EVOLVh DreamGel

The DreamGel is nothing like the hair gel of the past! It doesn’t make my hair feel heavy, greasy or crunchy – even when I let it air dry. And when I use my Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, I can use it to either do my hair smooth, or wavy. The hold is firm but not hard, and makes my hair shiny and less frizz prone. It has their signature grapefruit scent (uplifting and clean, and not over-scented or perfumey).

As an added plus, EVOLVh was kind enough to give me a 15 % off discount code for my readers that will be active on their website from September 9th to 12th – DREAM15 – this is not an affiliate code.

Cumulative Empties – March and April 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Can you believe that it is already May? Today I have my cumulative empties for March and April. I was *so* close to finishing up a few more things too, but I’m sure they’ll appear in my next empties post.

Skincare:

I think that I did great over the past two months to finish up so many things from my skincare stash!

Pure Savy Come Hell or High Water 3-In-1 Micellar Water *Cert Clean Jury Box 2019-2020* – I found this micellar water to be a little on the soapy side, but it worked really well for removing eye makeup. I have several eye makeup remover products in my stash, so I don’t need to even think about purchasing this.

Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel Cream – *I purchased this* I loved this light gel moisturizer. I would likely repurchase this one as it played so well with makeup. A great day moisturizer for my normal to dry skin. Review

Sothys Hydra3Ha Hydrating Comfort Cream *PR package* – This was great for the cold winter weather when my skin needed extra hydration at night. It is a little more scented that my personal preference. Review

Poetic Blend The Hero Oil and The Ghost Oil *Giveaway Prize win* – I loved both of these facial oils. I think that the brand is on hiatus (if someone knows for sure, please let me know) so I don’t think that I could purchase. Review and review

Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk *Subscription Box* – This was such a lovely creamy cleanser. I would purchase this if I didn’t have a few more cream based cleansers to finish up. Review

Be On Me Cleansing Mousse Sensitive Skin *PR package* – I loved this foaming cleanser, it was super gentle but super effective. I would purchase this once I use up a few more cleansers from my stash. Review

Lowen’s Make Room Balm *PR package* – This is a balm for stretch marks and scars, but I used it all winter on my poor dry hands, and it worked amazingly well. Their balms are really great, would definitely need one in my stash before winter! Review

Haircare:

I only managed to finish up two haircare products, but progress is progress.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Conditioner *PR package* – This was an amazing conditioner, it worked really well for hydrating my hair. I would love to try more from this brand – hopefully they will be selling in Canada at some point. Review

EVOLVh UltraShine Moisture Conditioner *I purchased this, but I’ve also received PR from the brand before* – Such an amazing conditioner. It hydrates, it smells amazing. I’d buy this again. I’m almost finished the matching shampoo. Review

There you have it! Everything that I’ve finished over the last two months. Have you finished up much lately?

EVOLVh InstaVolume Volumizing Mousse Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have a review of the newly launched InstaVolume Volumizing Mousse from EVOLVh that was sent to me by their PR team [info in italics taken from the EVOLVh website]

Versatile Foam for Lasting Volume, Hold & Definition

Ideal for normal to oily hair types desiring volume, style memory & hold, enhanced curl definition, bounce and shine.

This 100% clean and alcohol-free silky salon performance mousse combines a number of versatile styling benefits into a single styling product. Boosts volume and lift, provides style memory and definition, protects hair with built in UV & heat protection, and conditions hair while providing immense shine.  Easy to use thick foam formula.

Powered by plant-based powerhouse ingredients including tapioca and flax, known for their unique ability to volumize hair naturally plus Rice Bran and Lecithin to smooth the surface of the hair and impart internal hydration while eliminating frizz and flyaways. As with all EVOLVh products, hair feels like hair, and this mousse provides a soft natural clean feel without stickiness or crunch.

This mousse is amazing – my waves have extra bounce, and my hair is frizz-free. It doesn’t have the dreaded “crunch” feeling – it is super soft and touchable, and shiny. I love that it also offers heat and UV protection.

And the scent is their signature grapefruit – which I love!

EVOLVh InstaVolume Duo Review

EVOLVh InstaVolume Cleansing Treatment & Volumizing Elixir

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the EVOLVh InstaVolume Duo set that was sent to me from their PR team. When asked if I wanted to try it out, of course I said YES because I absolutely love this brand! The InstaVolume Duo is composed of InstaVolume Cleansing Treatment and and InstaVolume Volumizing Elixir. [info in italics taken from the EVOLVh website]

EVOLVh InstaVolume Cleansing Treatment & Volumizing Elixir

Let’s take a closer look at this two-step system, starting with the InstaVolume Cleansing Treatment:

EVOLVh InstaVolume2

Step 1 of our new Evolutionary Volume System: Voluminous, healthy, soft, & gorgeous. Always follow with Step 2, the InstaVolume Elixir spray. Dreamy voluminous hair awaits!

The first of its kind regimen that eliminates the need for a conditioner.  This game changing cleansing treatment delivers a luxurious lather that gently and thoroughly cleanses, nourishes and detoxify’s the scalp, adds moisture and detangles, while boosting volume and absorbing unwanted oils.

InstaVolume is powered by plant based natural ingredients including tapioca and flax, known for their unique ability to volumize hair while absorbing excess oils, and making it possible to go an extra day or even two without shampooing while still enjoying the voluminous results.

This is a super gentle but highly effective “shampoo” type hair cleanser. It lathers surprisingly well for a sulfate free formula. It has the signature EVOLVh grapefruit scent. Because I’m so mega overdue for a trim, I do find that I need to use a bit of the SmartStart Leave-In Conditioner on my ends.

Now onto the InstaVolume Volumizing Elixir:

EVOLVh InstaVolume Volumizing Elixir

Effortless Volume with Brilliant Shine + Heat Protection & Detangling

The magical Step 2 of our new evolutionary 2-step InstaVolume system. This multifunction magic potion detangles, add moisture and shine, removes frizz, balances pH, provides heat styling and UV protection, while boosting volume and absorbing excess oils.

Powered entirely by plant based ingredients, including flax and tapioca for stunning volume and raw lecithin for near-miraculous weightless moisture.

This works so well to help tame my frizz, it adds volume and softness to my wavy hair. I love that it is also a heat protector spray. It also has the signature grapefruit scent.

Empties March 2020

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties post for you. I didn’t finish up as much as I had hoped, but progress is progress when it comes to using up the things in my stash and not wasting them! I’ll include links to my original reviews and let you know if I would want to re-purchase either right away or eventually.

Haircare:

Empties March 2020 1

EVOLVh UltraRepair Reconstructing Masque – This was a PR sample. I loved this hair mask so much, and it is on my wishlist to buy the full size as soon as I use up another mask in my stash. Review is here.

Rahua Classic Shampoo & Conditioner – These were from my Petit Vour subscription. I liked them a lot. I’d like to try more from this brand – maybe for wavy/curly or dry hair. Review is here.

Cake Beauty The Posh Wash and The Soft Serve – These smell so good, and work well with my hair, so I’m sure I’ll eventually buy them again. Review is here.

Skincare and Makeup:

Empties March 2020 - Skincare and Makeup with Moor Spa, Sothys, Essence, Eyes of Horus

Moor Spa Supreme Cream – This was a PR sample. I mainly uses this cream at night, as I prefer something a little lighter in the day time if I’m wearing makeup. I have a few moisturizers in my stash to use up, so no need to even think about purchasing a full size. Review is here.

Sothys Hydra3Ha Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Youth Cream – Another PR sample. This one was great for day or night use. I always need a little hydration boost in the fall and winter months so this worked well for me. I have a few moisturizers in my stash to use up, so no need to even think about purchasing a replacement. Review is here.

Essence Lash Princess Waterproof Mascara – I really liked this mascara, and gave it a score of 6.75 out of 7. I  would definitely re-purchase this one. Review is here.

Eye Of Horus Brow Define – Another Petit Vour box product. This was my very first micro brow pencil. I’ve since purchased one from Essence to try out, but would love to get this one eventually. Review is here.

Essence Make Me Brow Tinted Brow Mascara – I’ve already purchased a new one, it is that good! Reviews are here and here.

So there you have it! Were you able to finish up much this month?

EVOLVh UltraFlex Hairspray Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the UltraFlex Hairspray from EVOLVh – this hairspray comes out on February 20th. Because I’ve tried and loved a few products – gotten from both PR and through my Petit Vour subscription – when offered the chance to try out the new UltraFlex hairspray, I jumped at the chance! [info in italics taken from the EVOLVh website]

Evolvh UltraFlex Hairspray

Strong Flexible Hold & Brilliant Shine, Alcohol Free and No Crunch!

UltraFlex is a magnificent working hairspray with a strong yet flexible hold. fast-drying, lightweight, and versatile, UltraFlex leaves hair feeling clean and soft, never crunchy, and with brilliant shine.  Build up free, and non-drying to hair – the performance is simply amazing.  And of course free from all of the nasties typically found in hairsprays.

Evolvh UltraFlex Hairspray

KEY INGREDIENTS

  • Tapioca Starch gives hold and shine, for a pliable or hard hold without dulling the hair or becoming sticky.
  • Flax builds body, and adds hold and shine.
  • Rice Bran Extract and Cumin Seed Oil guard against heat damage and provide UV protection.
  • Red Raspberry Seed Oil provides exceptional moisturizing and strengthening properties in addition to UV protection.

I rarely use hairspray because most of them make my hair feel gross  – dirty, crunchy and dull – so any product that can add control and shine to my hair without stickiness or crunchiness is awesome. I’ve used it as a wave spray with wet hair, so get soft, manageable waves, and I’ve used it on dry hair for frizz control and hold. I love that it helps control my hair and keeps it soft and shiny.

EVOLVh UltraRepair Reconstructing Masque Review

Hello, hello!

I’ve reviewed a few products from EVOLVh previously, both from my Petit Vour subscription and as PR samples, so when given the opportunity to try out the new UltraRepair Reconstructing Masque, I jumped on the chance because hair masks are one of my favourite haircare products! [info in italics taken from the EVOLVh website]

EVOLVh UltraRepair Reconstructing Hair Masque

Renew, Replenish, Restore Dry, Dull or Compromised Hair.  UltraRepair is an intensive treatment for hair that has been compromised by color or bleach processing, heat styling, or environmental factors.
EVOLVh UltraRepair Reconstructing Hair Masque
Highly effective for smoothing coarse, curly or frizz-prone hair, protecting your hair from breakage, dehydration, tangles and split ends.   Do yourself a favor, use of this clean beauty favorite will result in  healthy, shiny and silky hair – no matter what its previous condition.  Available in a new light & fresh scent – yummy grapefruit.
EVOLVh UltraRepair Reconstructing Hair Masque
My hair is wavy and prone to frizz, so a hair mask helps tame my hair. My hair tends to
get drier in the winter months – party due to the cold weather and partly due to using a hair dryer more often than I usually do the rest of the year.
My hair is so much softer and way less frizz prone (even when I let my hair air dry) after using this hair mask. And as an added plus, it smells like grapefruit – an instant energy boost. I love it!
EVOLVh UltraRepair Reconstructing Hair Masque
Ingredients: Water, Brassicamidopropyl Dimethylamine†, Silk Amino Acids†, Dicapryl Succinate†, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Kernel Oil*, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract*, Lecithin*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract*, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil*, Soy Amino Acids†, Vitamin E from Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Viola Tricolor (Wild Pansy) Extract†, Melilotus Offincialis (Sweet Clover) Extract†, Prunus Armenica Fruit (Apricot) Extract†, Nasturtium Officinale (Nasturtium) Extract†, Prunus Percisa Nectarina Fruit (Nectarine) Extract†, Passiflora Incarnata Fruit (Passion Flower) Extract†, Hedera Helix (Ivy) Extract†, Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract‡, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria)†, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract*, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract†,  Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuacu) Seed Butter*, Vitis Vinifera (Red Grape) Seed Oil‡, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil†, Dehydroacetic Acid*, Benzyl Alcohol * *ECOCERT Certified Ingredient †Natural Ingredient ‡Plant Derived/Organically Derived
