I ran out of TWO brow pencils in the same week – and by chance, IT Cosmetics was having their 30% off Friends and Family Sale, so I decided to try out their Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil after my mom raved about it to me. [info in italics taken from the IT Cosmetics website]

The four shades are: Universal Blonde, Universal Auburn, Universal Taupe, and Universal Dark Brunette. I chose the Dark Brunette shade because it looked to be the closest to what I usually use (especially when my brows are tinted). The shade match is perfect for my brows!

The tip shape and size works well for my brow shape, it’s not too big, not too little, and makes giving them some added shape a breeze. The spoolie brush on the end is great, so I don’t have to look for one. It is long wearing and smudgeproof. I like that you can adjust the darkness of the shade by the amount of pressure that you use – below is a swatch of varying pressure amounts.

The Micro Precise Eyebrow Pencil is available in three shades: blonde, brown and dark brown. I bought dark brown. I didn’t know that I needed a micro brow pencil until I tried one earlier this year. If you have thin brows, a micro brow pencil allows you to more precisely fill in any sparse areas in your brows. The shade is perfect for me, and it is long wearing and fairly smudge resistant.

I’ve really been loving how much fuller my brows look when I combine a brow pencil with a tined brow gel. It just helps fatten them up, but makes them look natural.

Both the Micro Precise Eyebrow Pencil and the Make Me Brow Tinted Brow Gel compliment each other perfectly in my opinion. And both are super budget friendly, coming in at less that $5 CAD each!

Make Me Brow has a small spoolie for quick and easy application. The brow gel is long wearing and doesn’t make my brows feel hard or crunchy. It also works well when combined with a brow pencil.

Province Apothecary Full Brow Serum Review

Today I have a review of the Full Brow Serum from Province Apothecary. I received it in a Petit Vour box back in December 2017. It sat unopened in my stash for ages. Now that I’ve finally gotten around to using it, I figured that I would finally review. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

The Full Brow serum is specifically blended with powerful and active pure botanical extracts and anti-oxidants to help fortify hair and encourage fuller-looking brows. Province Apothecary Full Brow Serum

I’ve been using the Full Brow Serum for about 3 months, using it once a day instead of twice daily as I find that it doesn’t play nicely with my eyebrow pencil or brow gel. I manage to use it at least five nights a week, and sometimes every night of the week.

Consistency is key with a brow serum.

My brows are starting to come in a little thicker / fuller, but they are still much lighter in colour than my hair, so I still feel the need to use a brow pencil or gel to darken them up.

Today I have a review of the Brow Define pencil from Eye of Horus that came in my August Petit Vour Box. [info in italics taken from Petit Vour website] The gold on gold packaging of the box made it VERY difficult to photograph.

Brow Define is your ultimate brow tool. This brow pencil is formulated using Coconut and Candelilla wax as a foundation. It contains castor oil for strengthening and growth and, like all Eye of Horus products, it is paraben-free with a slim, pointed tip. It contours and fills in color with controlled artistry for perfect arches. Add shape, color, and definition in one streamlined tool.

The twist-up applicator assists with product control, and a spoolie brush combs through color. Waterproof and smudge-free.

The Brow Define pencil comes in three shades: Husk (light), Dynasty (medium) and Nile (dark). I received the shade Dynasty.

So how does it compare to my usual pencils in terms of application, colour and wearing?

Shade-wise it is very similar to my three main go-to brow pencils – Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow (medium brown), Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow (dark brown), and Crispy Brows High Brow (medium brown) – I’ve had the Crispy Brows pencil in my stash for too long, it has hardened and become grabby, so sadly it will be going into my empties.

Eye of Horus Brow Define Comparison Swatches

The smaller tip allows for more precision for penciling in my brow shape. It is way more smudge-proof than any of my go-to brow pencils (it is even waterproof – great for summer). I love that it has castor oil in it for healthy brows!

SureThik Eyebrow Thickening Fibers Kit Review

As you all have probably heard me complain about my thin little brows, you will know that when SureThik reached out to me about testing out their Eyebrow Thickening Fibers, I was definitely interested!

 

WHAT IT IS: SureThik Eyebrow Thickening Fibers are a semi permanent eyebrow makeup, made from 100% Natural Keratin Fibers and 100% Natural Bees wax that bind to make even the thinnest eyebrows look naturally thick. Forget about messy gels and harsh looking pencils, our Eyebrow Fibers are long lasting and will give your brows effortless looking fullness. More natural and longer lasting than traditional eyebrow fillers or eyebrow powders and one of the only eyebrow thickeners that is water resistant.

WHAT IT DOES: BUILD – DEFINE – THICKEN –  The Defining Bees Wax shapes and sets the brow while the 100% Natural Thickening Fibers add instant density, filling in any patchy or over plucked areas.

I was sent the Eyebrow Thickening Fiber kit in the shade Dark Brown, but I was also sent the Brow Fibres in both Medium and Light Brown – all three work for me, it all depends on how dark I want my brows to look on any given day. The kit contains a jar of Defining Wax, a jar of Thickening Fibers (in one of four shades), a Dual Ended Applicator Brush. The kit itself also has a nice mirror in the lid.

There is a slight learning curve to apply the Eyebrow Thickening Fibres, but with a steady hand and a little patience, it becomes easier and less messy to apply with practise. Here is the application instructions:

Step 1: Slide the angled end of the Applicator Brush over the Defining Wax. Evenly apply wax to the brow shaping as you go. Step 2: Dip the rounded end of the Applicator Brush into the Thickening Fibers. Gently dab onto your brows filling in sparse areas. Repeat Fiber application until desired fullness. Applicator Brush can be cleaned with warm water and shampoo. Rinse thoroughly and lay flat to dry.

Key to applying the Fibers is to dab or pat them on, and not to “paint” them on as this will leave you with streaky / clumpy brows – which is what happened to me with my first application attempt!

I think that if you are skilled at using brush on brow powders or pomades, then this will be easy for you to use. If you are more used to using pencils, like me, it might take a little while to get the hang of application. As with any makeup application technique, with practise, you will improve!

As you can see in the photo below, the brow on the left is without the Eyebrow Thickening Powder and the one of the right is with the powder. [Sorry that the photo is weirdly cropped, my eyes have dreadful puffiness / circles as I’m still recovering from my cold. I will re-do this photo once I’m less sick looking!]

Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Retractable Review (Medium Brown)

Today I have a review of the Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Retractable in the shade Medium Brown that I recently purchased. I’ve been testing it out for over two weeks now. [info in italics taken from the Wet n Wild website]

Insta-worthy! Fill in and define your brows with our unique triangular pencil tip. It creates strokes small enough to look like your finest hairs and sharpens the edges of those brows with rub-resistant pigments. Brush and blend it all out with the pencil’s built-in spoolie. When you’re done, the tip retracts for quick-and-easy storage in your makeup bag.

This retractable brow pencil is available in four shades – taupe, ash brown, medium brown and dark brown. I decided to get the medium brown shade. I tend to buy either the medium or dark brown shade in most brow products.

Wet n Wild Ultimatebrow Retractable Brow Pencil

When I first swatched this, it felt really waxy and skipped. I very nearly threw it out, but since I’ve committed to using things up and not wasting them unless a product causes a skin reaction, and then I will either bin or re-home a product, I decided to keep testing out this brow pencil.

I’m really glad that I did, as it softened up and no longer skipped when applied! It works really well to help fill and define my brows, and does not wear or rub off until I remove my makeup. Shade-wise the colour is perfect for me – my brows are naturally quite dark even though they are on the sparse side. The spoolie is good quality too.

Nyx Tinted Brow Mascara Review

Today I’m reviewing the Nyx Tinted Brow Mascara in Espresso.

 

Here’s what it says on the Nyx Canada website:

No shame in wishing for a strong beautiful brow! Our foolproof tinted brow mascara helps your dream come true. It sets tames and tints brows for natural-looking wear. Our dependable formula leaves brows feeling soft while maintaining complete control.

The Tinted Brow Mascara is available in five shades – blonde (ash blonde), chocolate (red brown), brunette (ash brown), espresso (deep brown) and black (brown black). After swatching them in the store, I chose to buy it in the espresso shade because the brunette one was too ashy for me.

 

This has a tiny spoolie wand for application, which makes it fairly quick and easy to apply. I find that you will get a more precise application is you blot off any excess product from the tip and base of the spoolie – otherwise you night end up applying way more than you will need and look like you sharpie markered your brows on! Trust me on this one, it happened to me, haha!

Nyx Tinted Brow Mascara - Espresso

Some days I use the Tinted Brow Mascara by itself, and other days, I use it with my Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil. They work really well together to give a more dimensional look to my brows.
