Last month I attended a virtual event for the launch of the Burt’s Bees Sensitive Solutions line, and received a goodie bag with their new Gentle Cream Cleanser and Gentle Day Lotion, along with some other treats that I’ll talk about another time. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you will know that my skin is on the sensitive side, so this line is of particular interest to me. They also launched a Gentle Eye Cream, Night Cream and an SPF30 Gentle Day Lotion. The line has received the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance.

Gentle Cream Cleanser:

Burt's Bees Sensitive Solutions - Gentle Facial Cleanser

Moisturize sensitive skin as you cleanse with Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser, clinically shown to wash away dirt, oil and makeup without causing redness or irritation. I love cream based cleansers, especially if my skin is feeling dry, or particularly sensitive. It is also great for doing a double cleanse – which I like to do if I’m wearing a lot of makeup or sunscreen. Very soothing and gentle.

Gentle Day Lotion:

Clinically shown to moisturize sensitive skin all day without causing redness or irritation, Burt’s Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream provides soothing natural skin care for sensitive skin. Rice extract and aloe moisturize and soothe your sensitive skin, while cotton extract helps replenish your skin’s outer layer and protect it from potential irritants. […] Use it daily on your face and neck after cleansing as part of your skin care routine. It is a naturally gentle way to keep even very sensitive skin feeling fresh and well hydrated.

This moisturizer has everything my skin needs. It is lightweight, super hydrating, but not at all greasy. Helps to calm redness. Plays nicely with makeup too!

When the SPF30 comes out this month (June 2022), I plan to purchase it.

Diana Vo, the founder of the brand, is a holistic esthetician and facialist. I received the Rise & Shine Gel Cleanser, the Skin Water 2% Hyaluronic Acid Serum and the Beauty Sleep Mask. Here’s the Rise & Shine Gel Cleanser:

I love a good gel cleanser, especially in the warmer months. This one is gentle, and my skin feels clean but soft after using. This cleanser works for all skin types – dry, sensitive, oily, acne prone, and mature skin. You can also use it when you do a double cleanse routine.

Skin Water 2% Hyaluronic Acid Serum:

Vo Beauty - Skin Water Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Instantly plump and hydrate your skin with this hyaluronic acid serum that makes your skin feel like it just drank water. It replenishes the hyaluronic acid that you produce less of as you age.

This is a beautiful serum, it soak into my skin so quickly and my skin feels less dry since I’ve been using it. It plays nicely with every other serum and facial cream that I’ve tried it with so far! Makes my skin feel so fresh and hydrated.

Beauty Sleep:

Wake up to skin that’s less tight, less red, and quenched of thirst with this leave-on mask that hydrates, softens, and plumps. Its hydrating properties prevent wrinkles and its cool, soothing effect makes it great for irritations and after-sun care.

– Aloe vera & rose hydrate your skin
– Royal jelly, vitamin e, and hibiscus (botox plant) plump and feed your skin with antioxidants
– Glycerin humectant locks in moisture

This stuff is amazing! Not just as a sleeping mask, it also works great as a hydrating primer before makeup. Super gentle, hydrating and non-greasy. My skin loves this. It really does plump the skin! Such a beautiful and essential skincare product! The jelly texture just sinks into my skin and makes it look and feel radiant and smooth.

I have a few of their products on my wishlist for when I finish up some things in my current skincare stash.

boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel Review

Today I have a review of the boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel. This came in a green themed Saint-Patrick’s Day / Spring box along with the Triple Hyaluronic and Honeydew Moisture-Boost Gel Eye Masks and the Vitamin C with Caviar Lime Booster Serum from boscia and BlendPR [info in italics taken from the boscia website].

Cleanse, purify, and soothe skin with sulfate-free Purifying Cleansing Gel. Nourishing botanicals leave skin thoroughly cleansed, soothed, and protected from free radical damage without over-drying or stripping the skin. Complexion is left looking healthy and refined. Preferable for all skin types.

This is a super gentle, yet effective cleansing gel. It contains several key ingredients: hydrangea leaf (purify, refine), botanical amino acids (eliminates dirt, and oil), green tea (soothes, anti-inflammatory, rosemary leaf (anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory), jojoba (prevent free radical damage, and nourish) and willowherb (reduces redness). This is a great cleanser for all skin types, especially those on the sensitive side like me.

Today I’m reviewing the Andalou Naturals Age Defying Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk – this has been sitting unopened in my stash for ages. I finally opened it two weeks ago, and have been using it daily. Let’s take a closer look [info in italics taken from the Andalou Naturals website]

Fruit Stem Cell complex from the Apple & Grape, Resveratrol CoQ10 and skin-friendly vegan probiotics gently remove make-up and impurities, rinsing away dull surface cells and balancing skin flora. Apricot and Borage Oils are infused to rejuvenate dehydrated skin, for a fresh glow and a rejuvenated complexion.

I love cleansing milks / creamy cleansers – this one is delivers a gentle, yet effective cleanse. It adds hydration and makes my skin feel clean and soft. It has a very mild and pleasant apricot scent. I especially love cleansers like this in the winter time, or any time my skin needs a little extra soothing cleansing.

I have yet to try something from this brand that I didn’t like!

Kaelen Harwell Refining Roman Chamomile Ylang Ylang Cleanser Review

Today I have a review of the Kaelen Harwell Refining Roman Chamomile Ylang Ylang Cleanser – this was also one of my top cleansers that I judged as a part of the Cert-Clean Clean Beauty Awards last year, and I’ve been using it on and off since then. This creamy cleanser hydrates and soothes dry, sensitive, or dehydrated skin. It also helps to calm rosacea.

This is the cleanser that I reach for whenever my skin is feeling dry or sensitive. It is super gentle, and hydrating, but still makes my skin feel clean without feeling stripped or irritated.

I love cream cleansers – especially in the colder months when my skin needs an extra boost of hydration!

CertClean 5th Annual Clean Beauty Awards Finalists & Judging Experience

If you follow me on InstaGram, you will know that I was asked to be on the judging panel for the CertClean’s 5th Annual Clean Beauty Awards, and was on the judging panel for face washes. I received a total of eight facial cleansers and tested them out from late August, until the end of November when I submitted my scoring grid.

The quality of all of the facial cleansers was very high, which made scoring so difficult, and in the end, it was often 1 point difference that separated my top scoring face washes.

Petit Vour Unboxing & First Impressions October 2019

Hello, hello! My October Petit Vour box finally arrived on October 25th. I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate @1.3621 my box cost me $31.33 CAD this month.

Let’s take a look:

KVoss Shine On Stick (full size $28 USD)

A buildable and blendable cream highlighter stick with an iridescent finish that glides on easily for on-the-go glow.

The creamy formula of this one of a kind product can be used alone or under other highlighters for a more intense effect. Its iridescent shimmer finish adds dimension and a pearlescent glow to the skin that leaves a gorgeously subtle shine with one swipe while delivering lit-from-within luminosity for a marvelous no-makeup makeup look.

The main ingredient, Cupuaçu butter, comes from the Rain Forest and is known for its uniquely rich content of phytosterols which benefit dry and damaged skin. It combats free radicals in the tissue, and fatty acids to protect and moisturize, delivering a true healing and restructuring benefits as it improves the skin’s moisture barrier with ultra hydration for improved elasticity.

I’ve tried a few KVoss products and liked them a lot, so hopefully I’ll like this highlighter stick as well! It is super pretty shade!

Province Apothecary Moisturizing Cleanser + Makeup Remover (sample size 30ml $20 USD, full size 120ml $44 USD)

The Moisturizing Cleanser + Makeup Remover with Avocado & Raspberry Oil is great for all skin types. These hydrating oils remove makeup & excess oil, restoring your skin’s natural radiance while gently cleansing without over-drying your skin or destroying its natural pH. Raspberry Oil stimulates cell turnover, rejuvenating skin. Bergamot Oil clears congestion. Frankincense tones the skin. Lavender heals blemishes and works as a restorative. This essential oil blend calms, reduces stress, and relaxes your parasympathetic nervous system. The cleanser helps your skin stay nourished, balanced, and healthy.

This sounds great! For now it will be getting stashed as I have several cleansers that I’m testing out for the CertClean 5th Annual Beauty Awards Judging Panel.

Akar Skin Balance Toning Mist (sample size 0.5oz, $12 USD, full size 2.4oz $55 USD)

This fine, non-sticky mist of rose and orange blossom sets gently into skin to provide hydration. Balance enables greater absorption of nutrients by lowering skin’s surface tension. Formulated to strengthen the acid mantle layer by restoring pH to optimum level and keeping environmental pathogens out.

The mist does not contain irritants like alcohol, nor is it watered down with water fillers, ensuring noticeably softer and luminous skin with use. For all skin types.

I love toner mists, and this one sounds perfect for my skin! Can’t wait to test it out!

LUXE Botanics Camu Brightening Moisturizer (sample size 0.34oz, $10 USD, full size 2oz, $85 USD)

Revitalise skin’s natural luminosity with this buttery soft moisturising cream infused with vitamin C rich Camu Camu. Potent concentrations of this Amazonian superfruit supports cellular energy to fade the appearance of dark spots, repair the look and feel of environmental damage and reveal a vibrant, glowing complexion.

Best suited for dull, sun damaged or lackluster skin.

Can’t wait to try this one out, sounds awesome – my skin does really well with vitamin C based products!
