Quo Beauty Hydrating Facial Serum Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Quo Beauty Hydrating Facial Serum – another one of my recent purchases from Shoppers Drug Mart / Pharmaprix. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, so I’m ready to let you know how it measures up. [info in italics taken from the Shoppers website]

Hydrating Facial Serum formulated with hyaluronic acid is just what your skin has been waiting for. The light weight texture & formula helps leave your skin feeling soft and smooth with a velvety finish.

Vitamin C helps to even out the skin tone while helping diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Sodium Hyaluronate (a derivative of Hyaluronic Acid) penetrates deeper layers of the skin to attract and hold moisture which, overtime, works to enhance & replenish skin. Vegan Cruelty Free

Another budget friendly, drugstore brand!

This facial serum is lightweight, non-sticky and sinks into the skin quickly, and adds extra hydration. It contains two of my favourite ingredients – hyaluronic acid and vitamin C. My skin loves anything with vitamin C in it.

It plays nicely with my moisturizer, spf and with makeup too. Also – it has little to no scent! Always a plus in my opinion as I don’t enjoy using over-scented skincare products.

Versed Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Versed Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum that I purchased and have been testing for a few weeks now. [info in italics taken from the Shoppers Drug Mart website]

Retexturizing night serum that uses gentle encapsulated retinol and two natural botanical retinol alternatives to help speed up cell turnover, boost collagen production, and smooth wrinkles without irritation.

Creamy yet light texture absorbs seamlessly into skin Made for aging, dullness, and problem skin Clean, cruelty-free, vegan.

This would be a great “starter” retinol if you are new to retinol based products, or if you have sensitive skin. After doing my usual 24 hour patch test, I started using it nightly with no irritation or dryness. The serum is milky in appearance and absorbs quickly, and doesn’t feel sticky or heavy.

Reminder – retinol really should only be used at night, and if you are using retinol, always wear SPF – you should be wearing sunscreen daily regardless of retinol usage!

Way of Will Brightening Face Serum Review

Hello, hello, welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Brightening Face Serum from Way of Will that came in my Fall 2020 Causebox. [info in italics taken from the Way of Will website]

Way of Will is a Canadian brand, based in Toronto. They are cruelty free.

Let’s take a look at the serum:

Keep your skin looking healthy and glowing with our Brightening Face Serum. Formulated to be lightweight and easily absorbed by skin, this serum is rich in vitamins, high in antioxidants to fight free radicals, and keeps skin hydrated. Each compact bottle packs a powerful punch when it comes to skin-loving ingredients that moisturizes, brightens, tones, and revitalizes dull, tired-looking skin for a radiant complexion.

Serums are probably my favourite skincare product. The Brightening Face Serum feels like a facial oil, and it sinks into my skin quickly. My skin does really well with brightening serums – this one has a blend of Vitamins A and C, and contains Marula, Black Currant and Carrot.

Since I started using this serum, I’ve been skipping foundation, and only using concealer for my undereyes, and anywhere I have redness. It gives my skin a glowy look that I love.

Ingredients: Camellia oleifera seed (Camellia) oil, Vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil, Rosa rubiginosa Fruit (Rosehip) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Oryza sativa (rice) bran oil, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) oil, Sclerocarya birrea (Marula) Seed Oil, Hippophae rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) oil, Citrus paradisi (Grapefruit) Oil, Daucus carota (Carrot seed) Oil, Pelargonium roseum X asperum (Rose Geranium) Oil, Tocopherol

grace & stella hyaluronic acid serum

Say ‘hi’ to hydration

Hyaluronic acid is a must-have in your skin routine. The primary function of hyaluronic acid is to retain water to keep your skin hydrated at all times, so you can think about it as a BIG drink of water for your tissues. This is the holy grail for supple, youthful skin.

Lightweight and suitable for all skin types, our Hyaluronic Acid formula alleviates dry skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and speeding up wound healing. It improves skin elasticity, making your skin appear dewier and brighter.

Always Vegan, Cruelty-Free, and Paraben-Free.

grace & stella hyaluronic acid serum

grace & stella is a Canadian company that is Leaping Bunny certified cruelty free – so I was super excited to try something from this new to me brand!

I love facial serums, especially ones that are hyaluronic acid based as they give an extra boost of hydration. This one is light and quickly absorbs into my skin. I love that it has a pump. I’ve even used it mixed in with my foundation to make it a little more hydrating.

BeOnMe Face Serum Review

BeOnMe Face Serum Hyaluronic Acid

Hello, hello! Welcome to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have the second part of a three part series of sponsored posts of the newly launched organic skincare line from Italy called BeOnMe – this brand has three main lines – Beauty (face, body, hair), Tattoo (tattoo aftercare), and Sport – all of which are certified-organic, vegan, cruelty-free, and  with recyclable packaging. They are carried by Pure Stem Beauty / Organic Beauty is Easy [info in italics taken from the Organic Beauty is Easy website]

BeOnMe1

Organic Beauty is Easy is the main retail site for Pure Stem Beauty.

PureStem Beauty’s mission statement is – WE ARE ON A MISSION TO BE MORE THAN A MISSION AND WE WOULD LOVE YOU TO JOIN US.

BeOnMe arose out of a desire to create and a creative instinct that came from our quest to provide people with the pure, natural and organic cosmetics they need and want—cosmetics that are free from synthetics, allergens, and components of animal origin.

BeOnMe

The BeOnMe Beauty Line has skincare for various skin-types: oily, combination, dry, sensitive, reactive, and first wrinkles. Today I’m reviewing the Face Serum with Hyaluronic Acid from their Beauty range. According to their skincare routine chart, this serum is targeted for all skin types except for oily, and reactive – they have other serums for those skin types.

BeOnMe Face Serum 1

BeOnMe FACE SERUM is a combination of natural, organic ingredients designed to hydrate and nourish your skin without being heavy. With a light texture, it absorbs rapidly and is ideal for warm weather in place of facial cream or as a foundation for makeup. BeOnMe FACE SERUM features organic thyme extract, organic lavender hydrosol, and organic cornflower: this blend provides a purifying and astringent action, relieves redness thanks to its moisturizing properties, and reduce the look of dark circles under the eyes. Organic aloe gel and hyaluronic acid have an extraordinary capacity to protect the skin’s moisture barrier. The revitalizing combination of organic goji extract, organic macadamia oil, tocopherol (vitamin E), and olive oil nourishes the skin and improves its elasticity. These ingredients are often used in treatments to reduce skin imperfections.

BeOnMe Face Serum Hyaluronic Acid

Facial serums are one of my favourite skincare products. This is a lightweight serum that can also be used as an eye cream (gotta love multi-purpose products). It helps to tame redness, and adds a nice level of hydration to my skin without feeling heavy or sticky.

BeOnMe Face Serum 3

It works great as a lightweight hydrator, and can be used as a makeup primer. It plays nicely with the two tinted SPFs that I’ve tested it with, and concealer. Texture-wise, it is somewhere between an emulsion and a cream – not too runny, and not too thick.

Key ingredients are thyme extract, lavender hydrosol, and cornflower hydrosol – these are soothing, and redness reducing; hyaluronic acid and aloe gel add the hydration, and healing, and goji extract, macadamia and olive oils, and vitamin E add the anti-oxidant content.

There is fragrance / parfum listed in the ingredients, but it is very very mild, almost no scent at all and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. But if you are sensitive to certain ingredients or fragrances – always do a patch test!

BeOnMe Face Serum 4

Ingredients: AQUA (WATER), THYMUS VULGARIS EXTRACT* (THYMUS VULGARIS (THYME) FLOWER/LEAF EXTRACT*), GLYCERIN, ALOE BARBADENSIS GEL* (ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE*), DICAPRYLYL ETHER, LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA WATER*, OLEA EUROPAEA FRUIT OIL (OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) FRUIT OIL), CETEARYL OLIVATE, COCO-CAPRYLATE/CAPRATE, CENTAUREA CYANUS WATER* (CENTAUREA CYANUS FLOWER WATER*), SORBITAN OLIVATE, HYDROGENATED OLIVE OIL, MAGNESIUM ALUMINUM SILICATE, BEHENYL ALCOHOL, BENZYL ALCOHOL, DIPALMITOYL HYDROXYPROLINE, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), TOCOPHEROL, XANTHAN GUM, SODIUM HYALURONATE, SODIUM DEHYDROACETATE, SODIUM BENZOATE, OLEA EUROPAEA OIL UNSAPONIFIABLES (OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) OIL UNSAPONIFIABLES), HELIANTHUS ANNUUS SEED OIL (HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL), MACADAMIA TERNIFOLIA SEED OIL*, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM PHYTATE, DEHYDROACETIC ACID, LYCIUM BARBARUM FRUIT EXTRACT*, GERANIOL, LINALOOL, LIMONENE * Ingredients from organic farming. 98% of the total ingredients are from natural origin, 20% are from organic farming

The Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid Serum Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Polyglutamic Acid Serum from The Inkey List that I recently purchased from Shoppers / Pharmaprix. [info in italics taken from the B For Beauty UK website]

The Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid1

Naturally found in the skin, Polyglutamic Acid (PGA) helps to maintain skin’s moisture levels and holds 4 times more moisture than Hyaluronic Acid. Polyglutamic Acid acts to:

  1. Form a thin, smooth and moisturising film on the skin
  2. Reduce the appearance of fine lines
  3. Brighten skin and evens tone

The Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid Serum

My skin loves hyaluronic acid, so I was especially interested in trying out this serum. It feels like a cross between a HA serum and a silicone primer. I’ve been using it in conjunction with the Hexa-Peptide Serum, and they work really well together.

The Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid Serum

It is very lightweight, and my skin feels so smooth after applying. My only complaint is that this serum has an awful chemical scent (almost paint-like to my nose). Thankfully it disappears quickly, because yuck!

It works well with makeup too. Great as a primer! And it is budget friendly at $14.99 CAD for 30 ml.

The Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid Serum

Ingredients: Water (Aqua / Eau), Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Bis-PEG-12 Dimethicone, Glycerin, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Polysilicone-11, Phenoxyethanol, Polyglutamic Acid, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Isohexadecane, Propanediol, Coco-Glucoside, Sodium Benzoate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Polysorbate 80, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Sorbate, Decyl Glucoside, Dimethylacrylamide/Acrylic Acid/Polystyrene Ethyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Sorbitan Oleate, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract.

The Inkey List Hepta-Peptide Serum Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Hepta-Peptide Serum from The Inkey List that I recently purchased from Shoppers / Pharmaprix. [info in italics taken from the B For Beauty UK website]

The Inkey List Hexa-Peptide

A patented peptide sequence, which helps to promote skin renewal and targets visible signs of ageing. Hepta-Peptide acts to:

  1. Reduce the appearance of crepey skin
  2. Provide an instant blurring effect
  3. Reduce the appearance of wrinkles
  4. Reduce the appearance of fine lines

The Inkey List Hexa-Peptide

This is a really great peptide serum, the texture is a little thick but it sinks into my skin quickly. It does help to reduce fine lines, and feels light once absorbed. It plays nicely with my other serums and moisturizers, and with my makeup as well.

It is budget friendly too at $14.99 CAD for 30 ml!

The Inkey List Hexa-Peptide

Ingredients: Water (Aqua / Eau), Polysilicone-11, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Caproyl Prolinate, Laureth-12, Benzyl Alcohol, Carbomer, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Squalane, Ethylhexylglycerin, Carnosine, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Polysorbate 60, Dehydroacetic Acid, Citric Acid, Heptapeptide-7, Lecithin, Potassium Sorbate, Propanediol, Sodium Benzoate, Xanthan Gum, Sorbitan Isostearate.

The Inkey List Collagen Booster Review

Hello, hello! Welcome to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Collagen Booster from The Inkey List. I’ve been using this serum for a few weeks now, so I’m ready to review. [info in italics taken from the Cult Beauty website]

The Inkey List Collagen Booster

They say you only miss things once they’re gone and, sadly, our love for collagen (the natural skin protein that helps to support skin’s firmness, suppleness and elasticity) tends to appear only once we realise its production has begun to slow down – sob. A perfect antidote to this sorry state of affairs, THE INKEY LIST’s Collagen Serum stars clever peptides called Matrixyl 3000 and Syn Tacks, which mimic the effect of natural collagen, keeping your skin looking plumper and smoother for longer. The formula also helps to boost collagen production, so your skin will look increasingly firm and supple in the long run too. Minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and targeting sagging, this skin-boosting potion is like an elixir of youth for your complexion.

I bought this at Pharmaprix (aka Shoppers Drug Mart in the rest of Canada) back in January, so I’ve been testing it out for several weeks now. It is a clear, super-watery, serum that sinks into my skin quickly. It helps to plump and smooth the skin. It also plays nicely with all of my various serums, facial oils, moisturizers and makeup too!

The Inkey List Collagen Booster

And, as an added plus, it is super budget friendly at $10.99 CAD!

Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum Review

Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of a serum that I’ve wanted to try for SO LONG – the Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum. This was a Christmas gift from a dear friend. [info in italics taken from the Sephora website]

Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum

What it is: A brightening serum powered by strawberry-derived vitamin C for noticeable radiance, hydration, and even-toned skin.
Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily
Skincare Concerns: Pores, Dryness, and Dullness and Uneven Texture

Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum

Highlighted Ingredients:
– Strawberry Fruit and Seed Extract: Help brighten dull skin, unclog pores, and remove excess oil.
– Kakadu Plum: Helps reinforce luminosity and reduce appearance of redness.
– Hyaluronic Acid: Promotes skin elasticity for plump, hydrated skin.

Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you will know that I love serums, and that my skin responds really well to Vitamin C based skincare. This serum is beautiful – it is gentle and fast absorbing, hydrating and definitely works well for brightening the skin – perfect for helping to deal with winter dryness and dullness. As an added plus, it doesn’t have that weird scent that some Vitamin C serums have. I don’t think that it smells like strawberries, but the scent is so so very minimal – I can’t really say what it smells like.

Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum

This is a cruelty free brand that I definitely want to try more from!

Have you tried this serum, or anything else from Volition Beauty?
