Delizioso Skincare

Today I have reviews of a few products from Ontario based Delizioso Skincare – handcrafted, natural, vegan and cruelty free skincare, cosmetics, body and haircare. They were kind enough to send me a few things to try out – the Cucumber & Aloe Sensitive Skin Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer, The Eclipse Tansy & Marula Balancing Facial Oil, Succulent Cell Hyaluronic Acid B5 Cream Mask, and a sample of their Watermelon Coffee + COQ10 Eye Gel [ info in italics taken from the Delizioso Skincare website]

Cucumber & Aloe Sensitive Skin Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer:

Delizioso Skincare Cucumber + Aloe Sensitive Skin Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer

A 100% natural, light facial moisturizer made with pure cucumber seed oil, aloe leaf juice and hyaluronic acid.  Highly concentrated long and short chain hyaluronic molecules provide intensive hydration and work against fine lines and wrinkles while cucumber and aloe work to calm the complexion. Because it can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, hyaluronic acid aids hydration and actually plumps up skin. Enriched with Rosehip oil, this gentle facial moisturizer is filled with highly potent antioxidants to fight free radical damage and make skin appear more smooth, calm, hydrated and plump.

This is a beautiful and lightweight moisturizer – it is super hydrating, and I love the mild cucumber scent. I especially like mixing it with The Eclipse Facial Oil. It plays nicely with foundation and concealer too!

The Eclipse Tansy & Marula Balancing Facial Oil:

Delizioso Skincare The Eclipse Tansy & Marula Balancing Facial Oil

This lightweight facial oil is a holy grail product that helps to keep skin looking balanced, fresh, clear and youthful. Blue Tansy Essential Oil is known for its amazing properties to calm and balance irritated and troubled skin.  Collageneer® is an anti-aging and firming ingredient that stimulates the synthesis of a high-quality collagen to increase elasticity and firmness in the skin, helping to remodel the facial contour.  With powers to help with congested pores and clarity, this luxurious oil is based on skin balancing squalane and nourishing marula to harness nature’s amazing skin benefits in every drop.

This facial oil is so great – I can see this working for all skin types as it is light and non-greasy.

Succulent Cell Supple Hydration Hyaluronic B5 Cream Mask:

Delizioso Skincare Succulent Cell Supple Hydration Hyaluronic B5 Cream Mask

This all natural mask is packed full of highly concentrated long and short chain hyaluronic molecules to provide intensive hydration and, alongside other botanical ingredients, works against fine lines and wrinkles caused by dry skin. Unlike conventional masks, the vitamin b5 and allantoin rich mask is based on a cream formula, for ultimate moisture. A must have for more supple looking skin.

So beautiful for when my skin needs a hydration boost – ultimate moisture is exactly what this mask gives my skin!

Watermelon Anti-Aging CoQ10 + Coffee Brightening Eye Gel:

Delizioso Skincare Watermelon Coffee + CoQ10 Eye Gel

This potent, fast absorbing all natural eye gel is formulated with antioxidants that leave skin looking more dewy, supple and bright after application, making fine lines, wrinkles, under eye darkness and puffiness less noticeable. […] Watermelon extract, rich in lycopene and vitamins, has been studied to yield remarkable antioxidant capacity while coffee berry oil is known to increase circulation. Coenzyme Q10 is  used on skin due to its studied ability to decrease the appearance of wrinkles with prolonged use.

Holy grail if you are prone to dark circles or allergy related puffiness like me. It works SO WELL! And you just need a teeny tiny drop!

Have you tried anything from Delizioso Skincare? They have a lot that I want to try – until I use up a few things from my stash, I’ll be making myself a wishlist!

Vo Beauty Reviews

Vo Beauty - Rise & Shine, Skin Water, Beauty Sleep

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Vo Beauty - Rise & Shine, Skin Water, Beauty Sleep

Today I’m reviewing a lovely box of skincare from Vo Beauty – they’re a sustainable cruelty free luxury skincare line based in Toronto. Diana Vo, the founder of the brand, is a holistic esthetician and facialist. I received the Rise & Shine Gel Cleanser, the Skin Water 2% Hyaluronic Acid Serum and the Beauty Sleep Mask. [info in italics taken from the Vo Beauty website]

Here’s the Rise & Shine Gel Cleanser:

Vo Beauty - Rise & Shine Low pH Gel Cleanser

Our gel cleanser is made to balance your skin pH without stripping of its natural oils. Formulated with sulfate-free surfactants from coconuts and apples so it’s more gentle on the skin

– Aloe vera is soothing and replenishes moisture

Vitamin B3 is anti-inflammatory and prevents irritation

I love a good gel cleanser, especially in the warmer months. This one is gentle, and my skin feels clean but soft after using. This cleanser works for all skin types – dry, sensitive, oily, acne prone, and mature skin. You can also use it when you do a double cleanse routine.

Skin Water 2% Hyaluronic Acid Serum:

Vo Beauty - Skin Water Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Instantly plump and hydrate your skin with this hyaluronic acid serum that makes your skin feel like it just drank water. It replenishes the hyaluronic acid that you produce less of as you age.

Hyaluronic acid retains moisture better than any other ingredient and absorbs faster
Aloe vera retains and replenishes moisture
Allantoin calms, soothes, and prevents dryness and irritation

This is a beautiful serum, it soak into my skin so quickly and my skin feels less dry since I’ve been using it. It plays nicely with every other serum and facial cream that I’ve tried it with so far! Makes my skin feel so fresh and hydrated.

Beauty Sleep:

Vo Beauty - Beauty Sleep Leave On Mask

Wake up to skin that’s less tight, less red, and quenched of thirst with this leave-on mask that hydrates, softens, and plumps. Its hydrating properties prevent wrinkles and its cool, soothing effect makes it great for irritations and after-sun care.

Aloe vera & rose hydrate your skin
Royal jelly, vitamin e, and hibiscus (botox plant) plump and feed your skin with antioxidants
Glycerin humectant locks in moisture

Vo Beauty - Beauty Sleep Leave On Mask

This stuff is amazing! Not just as a sleeping mask, it also works great as a hydrating primer before makeup. Super gentle, hydrating and non-greasy. My skin loves this. It really does plump the skin! Such a beautiful and essential skincare product! The jelly texture just sinks into my skin and makes it look and feel radiant and smooth.

I have a few of their products on my wishlist for when I finish up some things in my current skincare stash.

Have you tried anything from Vo Beauty?

boscia Gel Eye Mask & C Serum Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

boscia / BlendPR "Green Box"

Today I’m reviewing the Triple Hyaluronic and Honeydew Moisture-Boost Gel Eye Masks and the Vitamin C with Caviar Lime Booster Serum from boscia and BlendPR. These came in a green themed PR box for Saint-Patrick’s Day / Spring along with the Purifying Gel Cleanser [info in italics taken from the boscia website].

Let’s look at the Gel Eye Masks first:

boscia Triple Hyaluronic Acid and Honeydew boscia Triple Hyaluronic Acid and Honeydew Moisture Boost Gel Eye Masks

Replenish and restore much-needed moisture to dehydrated, overworked under-eyes with a pack of cool-on-contact hydrogel eye masks that instantly invigorate, hydrate and refresh.

These gel eye masks are so soothing and hydrating. Key ingredients are the triple hyaluronic acids (hydration, plumping and firming), honeydew melon (radiance, hydration), Niacinimide (vitamin B3 – brightening, anti-inflammatory).

I especially like to use these gel masks when my under-eyes are a little puffy due to my year-round allergies. They really help to de-puff and hydrate.

Now onto the Booster Serum:

boscia Vitamin C w Caviar Lime Booster Serum

Instantly brighten, reduce the look of hyperpigmentation and even skin tone with a Vitamin C serum that provides a beaming, smooth complexion. A powerful 10% Vitamin C Complex and AHA-rich Caviar Limes helps exfoliate and smooth uneven-textured skin for an everyday, healthy-looking glow-up.

This is a great Vitamin C Serum – it doesn’t have that metallic “hot dog water” scent that some C based serums have. The key ingredients are: 10% Vitamin C Complex (brightening, hyperpigmentation), Caviar Lime (vitamin C – brightening, AHA – exfoliating), Astaxanthin (antioxidant), Jojoba (prevent free-radical damage), and Willowherb (anti-inflammatory).

My skin thrives when I use any skincare with Vitamin C. This serum is light, and quick to absorb, and plays nicely with every single moisturizer that I’ve tried it with!

Have you tried either the Gel Eye Masks, or the Booster Serum?

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Skincare

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have my empties that I’ve accumulated over the past six months. There actually should be more, but I think that a few things got misplaced or recycled.

Skincare:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Skincare

Made for Me Hydrating Moisturizer and Brightening C Serum (*PR Gifted) – Both the moisturizer and serum are amazing, and I’d would highly recommend both of them. I have a bunch of serums and moisturizers to use up in my stash, but I would purchase these. Reviews are here.

Haircare:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Haircare

Garnier Fructis Hydrating Treat Conditioner (Aloe Extract) – This is a great budget friendly conditioner. I would re-purchase this eventually – but right now I’m committed to using the Keratinworks line to maintain my hair post salon treatment. Review is here.

EVOLVh Smart Start Leave-In Conditioner (*PR Gifted) and Ultrashine Moisture Shampoo – Both are amazing, and I could see myself purchasing eventually. Reviews are here and here.

Kristin Ess Beach Wave Spray – This is a great product for enhancing my wavy hair and giving it that beachy wave effect. I would re-purchase eventually. Review is here.

Noughty To The Rescue Intense Moisture Treatment – An awesome budget friendly hair mask – I loved this, and would likely repurchase. Review is here.

Bath and Body:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Bodycare

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Body Cream – I’ve purchased this several times, and will do so again eventually. It is such an amazing body cream. Review is here.

Naturewell Hydrolyzed Collagen Moisture Cream (*PR gifted) – Another amazing body cream. Great for winter dryness. I would purchase this one as it is super effective and budget friendly. Review is here.

Makeup:

Empties Sep 21 to Feb 22 Makeup

Flower Beauty Warrior Princess Mascara – I liked this mascara, scored it a 6.25 out of 7. It was good, but not holy grail for me. Review is here.

Essence Cosmetics Bye Bye Panda Eyes! and #Lashes of the Day Mascaras – Bye Bye Panda Eyes I scored 6.25 out of 7, but I found that this mascara got better over time. I would buy this one again, because it improved, so I’d increase the score to 6.75 out of 7. Lashes of the day scored higher at 6.5 out of 7, but it didn’t get any better over time, so I don’t think I would repurchase. Reviews are here and here.

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara – This mascara scored a 6 out of 7. It was good, but not great for me. I’ve tried and liked other Covergirl mascaras better. Review is here.

Three Ships Beauty Dew Drops Serum Review

Three Ships Beauty Dew Drops Serum

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Three Ships Beauty Dew Drops Serum

Today I have a review of the Three Ships Beauty Dew Drops Mushroom Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin C Serum. I purchased this (and the Radiance Day Cream – review is here) for myself during their Black Friday BOGO Sale. [info in italics taken from the Three Ships Beauty website]

Three Ships Beauty Dew Drops Serum

Does your skin need a boost of hydration? We’ve got you covered. Our serum champions tremella mushrooms – a natural source of hyaluronic acid that replenishes moisture deep in the skin.
Look closer:
this serum also contains Kakadu plum, which is packed with 100x more Vitamin C than oranges to brighten and plump up the skin.

Three Ships Beauty Dew Drops Serum

This is a water based serum, and works really well to hydrate and brighten my skin. My skin does really well with hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, so this is the perfect serum. It feels a little on the slimy side when first applied, but it absorbs quickly (and the slimy feeling disappears). And, it doesn’t have that weird scent that some vitamin C serums have.

This serum can be used with all skin types – as long as you don’t have a sensitivity / allergy to any of the ingredients. Always do a patch test!

Made For Me Classic Experience Box Review

Made for Me Classic Experience Box

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Made for Me Classic Experience Box

I was sent the Made For Me (MfM) Classic Experience Box to try out and review. Made For Me is a new Toronto based skincare brand, that is made in Australia, and is organic, vegan and cruelty-free [info in italics taken from the Made For Me website]

Made for Me Classic Experience Box

The concept for the Experience Box was modelled after that of the “subscription box” – a trend that was well known in the 2010s where consumers receive a monthly box full of curated products as a way of gifting them. However, not all monthly boxes are created equal, and some came in with mixed results to consumers.

After testing out the concept of the products in different sets, we found what works best and decided to package them together. However we still believe in the concept of gifting so long as it adds to their normal routines. Every few months, when you order a box, you may still get the same 3 core products, but you also get a mystery item that may be different from what you got before. That is, we decided to combine the surprise element with the predictability of our high quality, all organic selections that you would love. You are not obligated to order the boxes at preset durations.

The Classic Experience Box ($90 CAD), is composed of a Brightening C Serum, a Hydrating Moisturizer and an Eye Cream. There is also a surprise mystery gift (this gift changes quarterly). Let’s take a look at the Brightening C Serum:

Made for Me Classic Experience Box

The serum contains properties from marine collagen, which improves the skin’s firmness and plumpness. It is also a great choice if you’ve been looking to fade dark spots or achieve the smooth, luminous texture that you’ve always dreamed of. Ingredients contain: Kakadu Plum Extract, Aloe Vera, Vitamin C

My skin LOVES vitamin C based skincare, and this is a great serum. If you want luminous skin, then this is the serum for you. I can see this working for all skin types.

Now onto the Hydrating Moisturizer:

Made for Me Classic Experience Box

Our Star product and a fan favourite, this facial lotion helps promote and improve overall glow of the skin. It contains a number of organic and botanical antioxidants to restore the skin’s natural appearance and achieve a supple complexion. Use it after the brightening serum and don’t forget your SPF! It can also be used as a makeup primer, as it leaves the skin glowing and prepped for any product you may be using after.
Ingredients contain: Hyaluronic Acid, Green Tea, Davidson Plum

This is such a nice moisturizer! It is light, hydrating and works amazingly well with the Brightening C Serum. Hello glowing skin! It plays nicely with makeup too. It can be used both morning and night.

And last, but not least, the Eye Cream:

Made for Me Classic Experience Box

The Classic Eye Cream helps in de- puffing & soothes the skin around the eye area. Its soft, velvety texture enables the skin to absorb nutrients to reduce dark circles and lessen the look of wrinkles leaving the eye area firm and well hydrated. Ingredients contain: Jojoba, Avocado Extract, Shea butter

My eyes are often puffy from allergies, and dark circles from the combination of allergies and occasional insomnia, so this eye cream has been such a great product for me. It really works to de-puff and soothe my under eyes.

And as for the mystery gift box – it is such a great idea, and no I’m not going to spoil it, my lips are sealed!

Made for Me Classic Experience Box

This is such a great skincare set, and it would make a great gift idea. Each of the three products are also sold separately – which I think is a great idea, because I use up moisturizer faster than serums, or eye creams.

Have you tried this brand?

The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Retinol 1% in Squalane from The Ordinary. I’ve been using it for several weeks now, and I purchased this to replace Press Restart – Gentle Retinol Serum from Versed. [info in italics taken from Deciem’s website]

The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane

This water-free solution contains 1% pure Retinol, an ingredient that can reduce the appearances of fine lines, of photo damage and of general skin aging. While Retinol has been studied extensively, it is irritating to the skin and newer technologies exist that mimic the visible effects of Retinol without causing skin irritation.

The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane

Retinol can cause significant irritation, redness and peeling, especially around the eyes and mouth, in the early stages of treatment while skin builds tolerance. If you have not used high-strength retinol formulas in the past, we strongly recommend that you start your retinol regimen with our Retinol 0.2% in Squalane and adjust to higher strengths of Retinol 0.5% in Squalane and Retinol 1% in Squalane as your skin builds tolerance. You will achieve the same end results without the unpleasant redness and peeling along the way.

The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane

The Ordinary has several different Retinol based serums, ranging in strength and irritation risk levels. I’ve previously used and loved their Advanced Retinoid 2% Emulsion, which later became the Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (moderate strength, low to no irritation). The Retinol 1% in Squalane is their highest retinol formula (high strength, and very high irritation risk)!

Wait a minute, high irritation risk? Don’t I have sensitive skin – I know, I know! I did my patch tests – first on my wrist, and then on my neck and chest, before trying it on my face. This retinol does not irritate my skin! I think that the squalane actually works to counteract the irritation risk, and my skin is quite used to retinoids / retinols.

The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane

I like this one, I feel that it does help with fine lines, and my skin has not been prone to redness, irritation or peeling after using several nights a week (for several weeks), I only skip using it if I’m using an acid formula. My skin seems to be far less sensitive these days – I guess that my current skincare routine is making my skin very happy!

If you are new to retinoids / retinol or have super sensitive skin – this is not the product for you, I’d recommend starting with either the Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion or the Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane, and using every couple of nights until your skin adjusts before moving onto the stronger Retinol formulas. As always, retinol should be used at night, and always followed by sunscreen in the daytime as retinol can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. You should be wearing SPF daily anyway!

Have you tried this one?

The Ordinary Pycnogenol 5% Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m reviewing the Pycnogenol 5% serum from The Ordinary. I purchased it several weeks ago because it was a new to me ingredient that I was curious about! [info in italics taken from The Ordinary website].

The Ordinary Pycnogenol 5%

Pycnogenol® is a natural plant extract derived from the pine bark of French maritime pine trees. It contains procyanidins, bioflavonoids and organic acids that work in synergy to rejuvenate the skin, with the aim of enhancing skin hydration and elasticity. With the ability to selectively bind to collagen and elastin, Pycnogenol® protects these proteins from degradation, helping to nourish the skin from the inside out. Being a unique and powerful antioxidant, Pycnogenol® scavenges for free radicals before they cause damage by oxidative stress. It can also recycle oxidized Vitamin C to restore its activity. The Ordinary Pycnogenol® 5% is free of artificial colours. The formula’s deep red colour is due to the high procyanidin content in Pycnogenol®. After application, please wash hands and avoid product contact with light coloured fabric as it may stain.

The Ordinary Pycnogenol 5%

So in a nutshell, it provides: Antioxidant Support, Enhances Skin Hydration, Rebuilds Skin Elasticity

This serum / solution has such an interesting colour! It can be mixed with other serums and creams to give them boost, but I’ve mostly been just applying it on its own or layering it with other serums (which also boosts the performance of whatever it is combined with). I feel that it really does help increase skin hydration. And I love that it can be used both day and night.

The Ordinary Pycnogenol 5%
