Empties – February 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m sharing my empties for February. I didn’t finish up a lot this month, but progress is progress when it comes to using up my stash and not letting things go to waste! Let’s take a closer look, and I’ll let you know if the products are something that I will re-purchase (either right away, or eventually) or not at all. I’ll also link to the original reviews.

Makeup:

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream SPF 30 – I love this, and would buy it again eventually. I have a few on my list that I want to try with a higher SPF, so it will be wish-listed for now. Review is here.

Derma MD Glamour Lip Plump – this was a PR product from several years ago! I really liked it, but it got lost in my stash and its really time to let it go! Review is here.

Skincare:

Poetic Blend The Timeless Oil – I won this in a giveaway. I loved this facial oil! I’m not sure if it is still available or not, but if it is, I would buy it once I use up my facial oil stash. Review is here.

Goldfaden MD Facial Detox Clarify + Clear Mask – I think that this might be my second sample of this facial mask. Really great for a spot treatment for an emergency breakout as it is targeted more for oily / acne prone skin, but I’d buy this as it WORKS! Review is here.

Sothys La Creme Yeux-Lèvres (Eye and Lip Cream) – This was a PR gifted product. The jar was huge, and it took me forever to use it up because you only need the tiniest amount. Because it is such a rich eye cream, I only used it at night. It is an expensive product, so it doesn’t work my budget right now. Review is here.

Be On Me Face Cream Sensitive – This was PR gifted. Such a great facial cream. Hydrating without feeling heavy or greasy. Until I finish up a few more moisturizers in my stash, it will go on my wishlist. Review is here.

Bodycare:

Lowen’s Super Salve – PR gifted. This SAVED my poor dry hands this winter. I plan to buy another jar of this stuff as soon as I finish up a few more salves from my stash. Review is here.

UnderCarriage Deodorant Cream No BS formula, Gerouli scent – Already re-purchased a replacement! This is probably the best baking soda free natural deodorant that I’ve tried thus far. It lasts longer than most, and even the Mister likes using it! Review is here.

Have you finished up much this month? Thanks for reading

Cumulative Empties Aug to Dec 2020 – Skincare

Hello, hello! Welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude! Happy New Year!

Today I have my cumulative empties from August until December – I’m not using up products as quickly as I used to, so haven’t been doing my monthly empties posts. Let’s take a look at all the skincare that I’ve finished up, and I’ll let you know if I plan to repurchase or not, and link to the original reviews.

Skincare:

Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF 30 – I liked this travel sized sunscreen, it didn’t have a white cast on me and didn’t feel heavy or greasy. The full size is on the pricy side, so I would only re-purchase if on sale.

Moor Spa Cleansing Milk – This was from a PR package, and I really loved it. Creamy cleansers are so awesome for cold weather skincare. I would purchase this is I didn’t have so many cleansers to finish up.

Insensya Illuminate Serum – Another PR item. Quite possibly the best serum I’ve tried for all of 2020! At the top of my wishlist currently as I’ve a few serums to finish up.

Pacifica Coconut Water Micellar Cleansing Tonic – My skin hated this. I finished it up for cleaning up swatches as my face did not tolerate it.

5th Dimension Sub Rosa Serum – This was a nice oil-based serum. I have several oils and serums to use up, so no purchase for me at this time.

The Inkey List Bakuchiol and Polyglutamic Acid – The Bakuchiol was a good “starter” retinoid type serum cream, but I prefer something a little stronger. The Polyglutamic Acid made my skin feel nice and hydrated, but it smelled like paint (yuck). I don’t plan to repurchase, but have my eye on other products from the brand.

Cosmessential The Calm and B-Three Facial Serums – These were PR samples. Both were lovely – The Calm was great for when my skin was super sensitive, and B-Three was great for when my skin was “normal”. I have serums to use up, so no plans to purchase right now.

Goldfaden MD Vital Boost Moisturizer – I really liked this moisturizer, it was light yet hydrating and somewhat brightening. I have other moisturizers to finish up so no plan to purchase a full size.

Coming up later this week I have my Haircare, Bodycare and Makeup Finishes.

Hello, hello!

My February Petit Vour box finally arrived on February 28th. I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out. [info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour February 2020

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate @1.3586 my box cost me $31.25 CAD this month.

Petit Vour February 2020

Let’s take a closer look:

Goldfaden MD Vital Boost Hydrating Moisturizer – sample size 0.5oz / 15ml , $20 USD, full size 1.7oz / 50ml, $68 USD

Petit Vour February 2020

More than just a daily moisturizer, Dr. Goldfaden’s Vital Boost delivers hydration, antioxidant nourishment and a brightening glow to all skin types. Skin-boosting and rejuvenating Vitamin D supports skin health, providing powerful hydrating properties. This moisturizer may improve suppleness and the appearance of skin color and tone while promoting a more youthful-looking complexion. Brightening skin agent, Gooseberry Extract, leaves skin looking dewy, radiant and flawless.

My moisturizer stash is getting low, so this came at the perfect time! I’ve really liked everything I’ve tried from Goldfaden MD, so I’m sure that this will be awesome!

KVoss Lip Treatment – full size 7ml / 0.24oz $17 USD

Petit Vour February 2020

The perfect mix of a lip balm and a lip gloss, this one-of-a-kind lip treatment contains a luxurious and intensely reparative formula that works on contact to soften roughness, relieve discomfort and help rejuvenate seriously dry lips.

  • A potent concentration of Sunflower oil, Vitamin E and Shea butter renews the delicate lip area while strengthening lips’ moisture barrier to help prevent further damage.
  • Formulated with the unique KVoss™ pigment blend to give your lips a sheen that flatters every skin tone.

I’ve had a few things from KVoss via Petit Vour, and I liked them all, and hello – lip balm addict here, so I’m super happy to try this one out!

Speak 09 Deodorant Cream – 1oz / 30g $12 USD

Petit Vour February 2020

A gentle, yet effective natural deodorant with a creamy texture that glides on to give you satin-soft protection. An aluminium and baking soda-free formulation that’s great for sensitive skin.

Features arrowroot powder, kaolin clay and magnesium as odor neutralizers and excess sweat moppers. A combination of butters and oils keeps the delicate underarm area soft and healthy.

Lightly scented with lavender essential oil to keep you smelling fresh.

Hopefully this will work well for me. Natural deodorants with baking soda tend to work better for me, but sometimes irritate my skin, so having a baking soda free one will give my skin a break. I’ll let you know if this one works for me.

Rahua Classic Shampoo & Conditioner Minis – sample size 22ml each $10 USD, travel size 60ml / 2oz shampoo $9 USD, conditioner $9.50 USD, full size 9.3oz / 275ml shampoo $34 USD, conditioner $36 USD

Petit Vour February 2020

Shampoo: Formulated with rare, sustainably sourced ingredients, this rich, restorative shampoo leaves hair soft, silky, and luminous, and scalp soothed. Made with omega-9 rich Rahua oil and naturally scented with the fresh, woodsy aroma of Palo Santo oil, this cult-favorite formula is concentrated and will keep scalp in balance—not too oily, and not too dry.

  • Rich in active antioxidants known to protect
    and promote hair growth
  • Proprietary blend of natural oils moisturizes,
    strengthens and adds shine

  • Heals and maintains the scalp

Conditioner: An enriching and luxurious complement to the Rahua® Classic Shampoo, this award-winning Conditioner delivers lustrous, rich and ultra-hydrated hair. Omega-9-rich Rahua oil acts as a detangler and exotic extracts maintain strong hair and a healthy scalp. Can also be used as a lightweight styling cream to smooth, tame frizz and flyaways, and add hold.

These sound awesome, I can’t wait to try them out!

Petit Vour February 2020

This month’s box is worth a total of $59 USD which works out to $80.16 CAD. What do you think of this month’s box?

Empties October 2019

Empties Oct 2019 - Buck Naked Soap Company, Native Deodorant, The Seaweed Bath Co., Moon Rivers Naturals

Hello, hello!

Another month of empties that I managed to finish up from my stash. I’ll link to the original reviews and let you know if I would re-purchase or not (immediately or eventually).

Bath + Bodycare:

Empties Oct 2019 - Buck Naked Soap Company, Native Deodorant, The Seaweed Bath Co., Moon Rivers Naturals

Buck Naked Soap Company Geranium + Purple Clay Sugar Scrub – This was gifted to me, and I loved it so much. I plan on getting myself a replacement the next time I do a haul from well.ca. Review is here.

Native Deodorant Vanilla & Rose – I’ve been using Native for over a year now, and it works well for my body chemistry. I have a few in various scents in my stash, so no need to repurchase just yet. Reviews are here and the sensitive formula here.

The Seaweed Bath Co. Firming Detox Cream – This was from a recent Petit Vour box. I really liked this body cram a lot, and would love to have a full size. I have some other body lotions and creams to use up, so for now it is a wishlist item. Review is here.

Moon Rivers Naturals Peppermint Lava Salt Hand + Body Soap – This was also from a recent Petit Vour box. I loved this shower gel, it smelled so good. I have other soaps / shower gels to use up, so I won’t be buying a full size right now, but probably would eventually. Review is here.

Skincare + Makeup:

Empties Oct 2019 - Ursa Major, Covergirl, Lily Lolo, Goldfaden MD, Cosmessential

Ursa Major Bright & Easy Flash Mask – This was a Petit Vour box sample. I really loved this mask. It worked so well on my sensitive skin and made it look so bright! A definite wishlist item as I have more skincare to use up. Review is here.

Covergirl The Super Sizer Waterproof Mascara – This mascara was good, but not a holy grail for me, so I won’t repurchase this particular one, but will likely buy a different one from Covergirl to try. Review is here.

Lily Lolo Makeup Mist – This was a nice setting spray that came in my Petit Vour subscription, I used it more as a facial mist than as a makeup setting spray. I’m currently testing out another makeup setting spray and a few toner mists so no need to replace. Review is here.

Goldfaden MD Needle-less Line Smoothing Concentrate – Another Petit Vour sample that I loved! I’m still using up a few serums, but would love to eventually get a full size of this one! Review is here.

Cosmessential Essential C Serum – This was a PR sample. My skin loved this Vitamin C based serum, so onto the wishlist it goes as I have several serums that I need to finish up. Review is here.

Empties August 2019

August 2019 Empties - Bath & Body - Lavido, Alba Botanica, Andalou Naturals

Hello, hello!

Can you believe that August is already finished? It feels like the summer has gone by so quickly! I’ve managed to finish up a few more products from my stash this month – not as many as I had hoped to finish, but progress is progress.

I’ll include links to my original reviews as well as a comment on whether or not I will eventually purchase a replacement.

Let’s take a look – Bath and Body:

August 2019 Empties - Bath & Body - Lavido, Alba Botanica, Andalou Naturals

Lavido Thera Intensive Foot Cream – this was a Petit Vour subscription sample. I liked it a lot, but the scent made the Mister sneeze every time I used it, so I probably won’t purchase a full size. Review is here.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Body Oil – This might be my second bottle of this body oil. I love it, and will buy it again eventually once I finish up a few other body products. Review is here.

Andalou Naturals Kukui Cocoa Nourishing Body Butter – Another Petit Vour sample. I liked this one a lot, but I think I prefer the rose scented one more. Review is here.

Haircare:

Empties August 2019 - Hair Care - Kristin Ess, Wise Men's Care

Kristin Ess Sea Salt Air Dry Spray – I used this wave spray a lot since I purchased it last summer, it worked amazingly well for my wavy hair. I’m currently testing out another wave spray, so I don’t need to repurchase this one right now, but I probably would get this again eventually. Review is here.

Wise Men’s Care Simple & Natural Men’s Shampoo / Birch Bark Daily Shampoo – This was part of a PR package. I loved the scent of this shampoo, it is very woodsy, and gentle on the scalp. I still have the travel size of this shampoo to finish up, and a few other shampoos in my stash to use up, so no need to purchase a replacement at this time. Review is here.

Skincare:

Empties August 2019 - Skincare - Lowen's, Goldfaden MD

Lowen’s Get Toned! Vegan Facial Toner – This was from a PR package. I kept this spray toner in my fridge, and used it whenever I needed a spritz of refreshing hydration. I have at least one or two toners in my stash to finish, so I don’t need to purchase a replacement (but I would like to eventually). Review is here.

Goldfaden MD Detox Hydrating Gel – Another Petit Vour subscription sample. I liked to wear this light gel moisturizer under sunscreen. I have so many moisturizers / creams in my stash to use up, that I really cannot purchase a replacement. Review is here.

Lowen’s Bee Local Lip Balm – This is from the same PR package as the toner. I’m a lip balm addict, so you know that I loved this! I still have two more lip balms to finish (and the Mister claimed the third one), so I don’t need to replace just yet, but I would like to before winter. Review of some of the Lowen’s lip balms is here.

Makeup:

Empties August 2019 - Makeup - Essence, Nyx

Essence I ❤ Colour Intensifying Eyeshadow Base – I had this for way too long (shamefully – since 2016), so I am decluttering it. I’ve recently gotten another shadow base / primer in a recent Petit Vour box. I’d buy this again, it works great and is super affordable. Review is here.

Nyx Tinted Brow Mascara – Another one that I had for way to long! i really liked this brow mascara and will probably buy it again eventually. I’m currently using and loving the Essence Make Me Brow, so no need to replace right now. Review is here.

Goldfaden MD Needle-less Line Smoothing Concentrate Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Needle-less Line Smoothing Concentrate from Goldfaden MD that came in my June Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Goldfaden MD Needle-less Line Smoothing Concentrate

Dr. Goldfaden’s smoothing serum is the ultimate non-invasive solution to reduce the appearance of fine line depth, increase skin suppleness and create a smooth, flawless finish.

Goldfaden MD Needle-less Line Smoothing Concentrate

Pure Hyaluronic Acid and advanced Hexapeptides make skin feel plump, appear firm and diminish the appearance of fine lines and deep creases. Nutrient-rich Seaweed Extract promotes a long-term, youthful-looking glow. With continued use, your skin will reap the benefits of looking younger, feeling smoother, and appearing more radiant. Ideal for all skin types.

Goldfaden MD Needle-less Line Smoothing Concentrate

This was the product that I was the most excited to try from the June box – it is no secret that facial serums are one of my absolute favourite skincare products!

The Needle-less Serum is to be used on dynamic lines (ie: forehead, crow’s feet and around the mouth – not on the under-eye area). A little goes a long way, just a drop or two is needed for application. This is a colourless and serum that absorbs into the skin fairly quickly, and plays nicely with makeup. It plumps the skin and helps my fine lines disappear.

Goldfaden MD Needle-less Line Smoothing Face Concentrate

I’m sure that with extended use, the results would be more apparent (as with most anti-aging products, it tends to take around 4 to 6 weeks to reach full effectiveness). Since you only need the smallest amount, my sample will probably last several weeks as this is the same type packaging as their eye cream sample and that lasted me quite awhile.

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Aqua, Sodium Hyaluronate, Carrageenan, Propylene Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Citric Acid, Aspalathus, Linearis Extract, Potasium Sorbate, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Seaweed Extract, Distilled Water, Hyaluronic Acid, Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Red Tea Extract

Have you tried this serum, or anything from Goldfaden MD?

Goldfaden MD Detox Hydrating Gel Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Detox Hydrating Gel from Goldfaden MD that came in my June Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Goldfaden MD Detox Hydrating Gel

A BHA Skin Balancing Moisturizer.

Dr. Goldfaden’s daily hydrating gel helps clear skin, and minimize the appearance of future breakouts, revealing a clear and radiant looking complexion.

Goldfaden MD Detox Hydrating Gel

This treatment moisturizer provides anti-oxidant and anti-pollution nourishment with a potent combination of beta hydroxy acids, mallow extract and the Detox ComplexTM. These ingredients work to increase purity, while at the same time help to calm and soothe complexion. Skin is left appearing balanced, rejuvenated and feeling hydrated.

Goldfaden MD Detox Hydrating Gel

This is a super light gel based moisturizer – probably geared more for combination (normal to oily skin), but I found that it gave my skin enough hydration, and it did not irritate my sensitive skin. I don’t think that it would work for me in the winter months, as my skin needs a lot more hydration in colder weather, but for summer, it is perfect!

Goldfaden MD Detox Hydrating Gel

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Water, Propanediol, Glycerin, Carrageenan, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Gluconate, Saccharide Isomerate, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin (and) Marrubium Vulgare, Meristem Cell Culture (and) Xanthan Gum, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Veronica Officinalis Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Primula Veris Extract, Xanthan Gum, Cellulose gum, Salicylic Acid, Centella Asiatica Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Fruit Extract.

Petit Vour Unboxing and First Impressions June 2019

Hello, hello!

This post was supposed to go up on Friday, but our internet was knocked out since early Friday morning, and is hopefully now back to stay!

My June Petit Vour box finally arrived on Thursday (June 27th)! I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out. [all info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]

PetitVour June1

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate @1.3791  my box cost me $31.72 CAD this month.

Petit Vour June 2019

Let’s take a closer look at what was in this month’s Petit Vour box:

Petit Vour June 2019

FiOR Minerals Organic Eyeliner (full size $18 USD)

This 100% natural vegan eyeliner is bursting with certified organic antioxidants and soothing ingredients, gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin.

Create defined lines or a smudged out smoky look in no time flat. This creamy moisturizing nutrient-filled formula was designed not to tug or pull on the eye. FREE of harsh chemicals, dyes, parabens, GMO’s and toxic ingredients–No more Crying Eyes, only Smiling Eyes.

Petit Vour June 2019

This eyeliner is available in six different shades, I received the shade Mystic (slate grey, matte finish). I have quite a stash of black eyeliners, and this one looks black to me. I wish that I had gotten Night Moves (royal blue), but if it is a nice liner, then I’ll definitely use it!

Pacifica Cherry Matte Mattifying Primer (full size 1oz, $13 USD)

Don’t have a makeup meltdown. This lightweight mattifying primer is a support system for your skin, delivering a blurred focus finish with oil control benefits. So you can keep it together all day (or at least look like you are).

Petit Vour June 2019

Hopefully this won’t be drying for my normal to slightly dry skin. I do like the sound of a blurred focus finish, so we shall see how it works for me. I’ll probably use it with facial sunscreens since they sometimes make me a little greasy.

Goldfaden MD Detox Hydrating Gel (sample size $10 USD, full size 1.7oz / 50ml $68 USD)

A BHA Skin Balancing Moisturizer.  Dr. Goldfaden’s daily hydrating gel helps clear skin, and minimize the appearance of future breakouts, revealing a clear and radiant looking complexion.

Petit Vour June 2019

This sounds wonderful. I’ve really liked everything that I’ve tried thus far from this brand, so I am excited to try this!

Goldfaden MD Needle-less Smoothing Face Serum (sample size $19 USD, full size 1oz / 30ml $115 USD)

Dr. Goldfaden’s smoothing serum is the ultimate non-invasive solution to reduce the appearance of fine line depth, increase skin suppleness and create a smooth, flawless finish.

Petit Vour June 2019

Ok, I’m mega excited to try this, I love facial serums and this one sounds amazing!

YUNI Shower Sheets (sample size – 1 sheet, $1 USD, full size pack – 12 sheets $15 USD)

No time? No shower? No problem! Freshen up on-the-go. Each body wipe is an oversized, super-soft, pre-moistened shower sheet that instantly and gently cleanses, revitalizes, and deodorizes every inch of your skin without alcohol or harsh chemicals. Perfect for freshening up after Yoga, dance, spin, or any other workout, these portable, biodegradable, and compostable wipes stimulate your senses naturally with 100% plant-based aromas.

Whisk away dirt, sweat, and odor with one of the luxurious, individually-wrapped body wipes. These moist wipes stay flat and don’t roll up, allowing for all-over coverage and minimal waste. Infused with antibacterial Neem and refreshing peppermint, these biodegradable sheets are convenient, easy-to-use, and discretely fragrant.

Petit Vour June 2019

This would be great for travelling or camping. I’ll probably put this in my stash for the next time I travel.

Petit Vour June 2019

This month’s box is worth $61 USD which works out to $84.12 CAD! I really think this month’s box is fantastic and I cannot wait to try everything out and let you know what I think of it all. Reviews to follow as soon as I test everything out.

What do you think of this month’s Petit Vour box?
