EVOLVh UltraFlex Hairspray Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the UltraFlex Hairspray from EVOLVh – this hairspray comes out on February 20th. Because I’ve tried and loved a few products – gotten from both PR and through my Petit Vour subscription – when offered the chance to try out the new UltraFlex hairspray, I jumped at the chance! Evolvh UltraFlex Hairspray

Strong Flexible Hold & Brilliant Shine, Alcohol Free and No Crunch!

UltraFlex is a magnificent working hairspray with a strong yet flexible hold. fast-drying, lightweight, and versatile, UltraFlex leaves hair feeling clean and soft, never crunchy, and with brilliant shine.  Build up free, and non-drying to hair – the performance is simply amazing.  And of course free from all of the nasties typically found in hairsprays.

Evolvh UltraFlex Hairspray

KEY INGREDIENTS

  • Tapioca Starch gives hold and shine, for a pliable or hard hold without dulling the hair or becoming sticky.
  • Flax builds body, and adds hold and shine.
  • Rice Bran Extract and Cumin Seed Oil guard against heat damage and provide UV protection.
  • Red Raspberry Seed Oil provides exceptional moisturizing and strengthening properties in addition to UV protection.

I rarely use hairspray because most of them make my hair feel gross  – dirty, crunchy and dull – so any product that can add control and shine to my hair without stickiness or crunchiness is awesome. I’ve used it as a wave spray with wet hair, so get soft, manageable waves, and I’ve used it on dry hair for frizz control and hold. I love that it helps control my hair and keeps it soft and shiny.

Evolvh Ultimate Styling Lotion Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Ultimate Styling Lotion from Evolvh that came in my November Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Evolvh Ultimate Styling Lotion

This 5-in-1 botanical formula truly does everything: creates volume, holds style, de-frizzes, adds shine, or defines curls into smooth ringlets. Its an all-in-one amazingly lightweight lotion.

  • Offers medium level of hold
  • De-frizzes and conditions
  • Can be used on wet or dry hair
  • Manages curls (for soft, smooth and bouncy ringlets)

Evolvh Ultimate Styling Lotion

When styling for fullness and volume, apply from the roots out and blow dry hair off the scalp. For curly hair, apply sparingly from roots to mid-length and add slightly more product from mid-length to ends for beautiful, smooth ringlets. For air dried hair, let it sink in for a minute before styling as usual. Bonus: it can also be applied to dry hair to refresh lifeless locks.

Evolvh Ultimate Styling Lotion

I really liked the Evolvh UltraShine Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner samples that came in my October Petit Vour box, so I was happy to see a styling lotion in this month’s box.

The Ultimate Styling Lotion was made for my hair! It helps tame frizz and doesn’t make it feel weighed down, or crunchy. I can use it when I want my hair to be wavy, and when I want it to be straight-ish. I like that it can be used for added volume, because in the winter time, with all of the hat wearing, my hair tends to lose it natural volume.

Have you tried this one? What is your fave styling product?

Wise Men’s Care Reviews

Wise Men's Care

Hello, hello!

If you follow me on InstaGram, you will have seen me unboxing a package from Montreal based Wise Men’s Care (& Tök Communications).

Wise Men's Care

Although the line is marketed for men, I tested everything out myself, and I got the Mister to try things out as well. [info in italics taken from the Wise Men’s Care website]

Wise caters to a new generation of conscious consumer; those who want thoughtful, carefully-sourced, and natural personal care products down to the last ingredient and packaging detail.
Artificial fragrances and colors, MEA, DEA or TEA, parabens, phthalates, and sulfates will never be found in our products.  Natural, healthy and cruelty-free ingredients will always be the core of our products.

Wise Men's Care

In the box there were several items – Birch Bark Daily Shampoo, Glacier Clay Pomade, Sea Kelp Soap, and a Neem Wood Comb. The packaging is eco-conscious and recyclable.

Wise Men's Care

Onto the review! Starting with the Birch Bark Daily Shampoo – I love that they included a 100 ml travel size ($20 CAD) and a 475 ml refill pouch ($34 CAD).

Wise Men's Care Birch Bark Daily Shampoo

White Birch Bark extract is a sustainable botanical extract found in the Canadian Boreal forest and renowned for its high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants. Less foamy and artificial than most shampoos, the unique array of essential oils found in this shampoo offer both aromatherapy and an exceptional cleansing experience. You will also enjoy active ingredients known to help encourage healthy and revitalized hair.

Other key ingredients include eucalyptus extract, keratin; cedarwood, clary sage, rosemary and geranium leaf essential oils.

Wise Men's Care Birch Bark Daily Shampoo

This shampoo doesn’t lather super well, but manages to deep clean regardless. It is super gentle, and leaves my hair feeling soft and clean. And it smells amazing – very earthy and woody. I love the essential oil blend that they used for this shampoo!

Next is the Glacier Clay Pomade in a 60 ml reusable glass container ($32 CAD) – the Mister shaves his head so he just doesn’t have enough hair to test out the pomade.

Wise Men's Care Glacier Clay Pomade

This pomade is made with hand-picked organic glacial marine clay from northern British Columbia, an ingredient renowned for its abundance of beneficial minerals. Great for any hair type, it features a medium yet natural hold with a matte finish and a fresh and earthy scent from north-western Canada. Unlike most styling products, the ingredients of this Glacial Clay pomade can help to promote healthy hair by moisturizing, nourishing and protecting throughout the day. Other key ingredients include shea & cacao butter, coconut oil; sandalwood, clary sage and vetiver grass essential oils.

Wise Men's Care Glacier Clay Pomade

Pomades are probably better suited for shorter hair, but that didn’t stop me from trying it in my collarbone length hair. It is a little stiff to work with at first, but the heat of your hands makes it easier to work with. It also has an earthy scent, but at the same time, it smells like a clay facial mask. It gives the hair a natural feel without being crunchy or dry to the touch.

Next is the Sea Kelp Soap $12 CAD:

Wise Men's Care Sea Kelp Soap

Sea Kelp extract is a sustainable botanical ingredient harvested off the coast of the Canadian Maritimes and is known for its high concentration of iodine, minerals and anti-oxidants. Great for any skin type, this soap offers a gentle yet effective cleansing experience and a fresh, vegetal and oceanic scent reminiscent of the Canadian Atlantic waters.

  • Hand-made in Québec by cold-processed saponification
  • 100% natural, vegan and cruelty-free
  • Free of palm oil and its chemically modified derivatives

The ingredients of this Sea Kelp Soap can help promote healthy skin by moisturizing, de-toxifying and nourishing your skin. Other key ingredients include shea butter, olive and canola oil; petit grain, black pepper, bergamot and vetiver essential oils.

Wise Men's Care Sea Kelp Soap

This is a really great natural soap. It lathers well and like everything tested in this package from Wise Men’s Care, it smells so good – very clean and earthy. We both really loved this soap!

Neem Wood Comb $15 CAD – I was really happy to see such a beautiful wood comb.

Wise Men's Care Neem Wood Comb

Neem has been used for millennia for it’s anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal  properties, just to name a few. For combs, using the wood from the neem tree is a great alternative to regular plastic or metal materials, who’s sharp edges, static electricity generation and toxic residue can damage your scalp, hair and health in general. The soft teeth of our neem wood comb massage your scalp and the wood’s many properties can help reduce dandruff and other scalp-related issues.

I didn’t realize that the Neem Wood Comb would help with scalp health – this is awesome! I always use a comb to detangle my hair after washing it, so this will get a ton of use by me.

You can buy all of the products separately, and they also have a few gift bundles ranging from $52 to $165 CAD.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: PR samples, however my opinion is always my own.

Ouai Wave Spray Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Wave Spray from Ouai. I purchased this for myself back in December after talking about it with Stacey (The Bambi Eyes) on her blog and IG. [info in italics taken from the Sephora website]

What it is: A weightless texture hair mist infused with rice protein to add hold for effortlessly chic, undone hair.

Key benefits:
– Creates beachy waves
– Enhances texture and builds body
– Give hair memory and shine
Ouai Wave Spray

If you want to know more… Wave Spray is made with rice protein instead of sea salt so is safe against color-treated and/or keratin-treated hair. The floral fragrance contains notes of bergamot, Italian lemon, rose de mai, magnolia, lily, blackberry, violet, cedarwood, amber, patchouli, sandalwood, and white musk.

Ouai Wave Spray

I prefer to wear my hair wavy, but I really dislike it when products make my hair feel heavy, crunchy or stiff. The Wave Spray enhances my natural waves without making them feel gross or look dull or dirty. It also tames frizz!

My only complaint is that the scent is a little too strong for my sensitive nose. The scent is quite lovely, but when I use it, I smell it all day, which gets to be a little overwhelming at times. I wish that the scent was about half as strong.

Have you used this cruelty free wave spray? What do you use?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Disclosure: I purchased this!
