Hask Argan Dry Shampoo Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a little review of the Argan Dry Shampoo from Hask. [info in italics taken from the Hask website]

Hask Argan Dry Shampoo

Infused with an orange citrus scent
Long-lasting Oil Absorption

Free of: sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten and artificial colors.

Removing excess oil is now easier than lather, rinse and repeat. Skip a wash or extend the life of your style with this lightweight, argan infused formula that will leave your second day hair even fresher than the first. Ultra-fine rice starch acts quickly to soak up oil, sweat and odor leaving hair revived, bouncy and clean. Saving time has never been this glamorous!

Hask Argan Dry Shampoo

I have three main criteria for evaluating a dry shampoo, the first and most important is does it make my hair look clean. The second is does it make my hair feel clean, and not dry and straw like. And the third and final is the scent, is it mild and pleasant or strong and awful.

So how does the Hask Argan Dry Shampoo measure up?

This dry shampoo works great for getting an extra day between washes. It doesn’t make my hair feel gross or over dry. And it smells really nice! I think that I like this one even better than the Chia Seed one that I was using previously (review is here).

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Best 17 of 2017 – Skin and Hair Care

Hello, hello!

Today I am sharing my picks for the best of 2017 in Skincare, Bath / Body and Hair Care – in some categories I picked more than one product.

Skincare:

Best of Skin1

Best Cleansers of 2017 – Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Balm and Juice Beauty Brightening Gel Cleanser. Both have become my favourite cleansers that I tried this past year! Reviewed here and here.

Best Serums of 2017 – The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% and Buffet. I’ve gone through two of each of these and they work really well for my sensitive skin. Reviewed here and here.

Best Eye Cream / Serum of 2017 – The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. This is the the only caffeine based eye serum that I’ve tried that doesn’t irritate my eyes. It works well for calming undereye puffiness. Review is here.

Best Toner of 2017 – The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. Admittedly, I’ve not tried a lot of toners this year, but this one works well for my skin. I only use it a few times a week and not daily. Review is here.

Best Facial Oil of 2017 – Poetic Blend Ghost Oil. This came in a Petit Vour box, and I absolutely love it, especially now that we are in the midst of cold winter weather. Review is here.

Best in Bath and Body 2017

Best of 2017

Best in Body Care 2017 – Neal’s Yard Remedies Bee Lovely All Over Balm (PR Sample) and Satya Organic Eczema Relief. Both are amazing. Reviews are here and here.

Best in Lip Care 2017 – Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask and Joik Gloss and Care Lip Oil. I’m a lip balm addict and these two are the best! Review are here and here.

Best in Bath 2017 – Wildcraft Buff Scrub and Joik Luxurious Rose Bathmilk. This is the nicest body scrub, and it smells amazing. It says that it can be used on the face, but my facial skin is far too sensitive. I’m sad that I’ve used up the last of my Joik Rose Bathmilk – it was so lovely and the scent was glorious. Reviews here and here.

Best Hand Cream 2017 – Natura Siberica Saaremaa Mositurizing Hand Cream. I was gifted this while in Estonia, and it is such an amazing hand cream. I use it daily in the colder weather. Review is here.

Best in Hair Care 2017

Best of 2017

Best Hair Accessory 2017 – GummiBand Hair Cords (PR Sample). I’ve been using these daily since getting them. I have one on my wrist as I’m typing, haha! Review is here.

Best Hair Product 2017 – Briogeo Curl Charisma. Helps tame my unruly wavy hair and make it look good without being crunchy or heavy. Review is here.

Best Dry Shampoo 2017 –  Hask Chia Seed Volumizing Dry Shampoo. This was diffiuclt to choose between this one and my usual one from Co-Lab. I like that it doesn’t make my hair feel gross, or add a white cast and adds a nice amount of volume. Review is here.

Next week I’ll have by Top 17 of 2017 in makeup!

Hask Chia Seed Volumizing Dry Shampoo Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Chia Seed Volumizing Shampoo from Hask that I recently purchased. (Info in italics taken from the Hask website)

Hask Chia Seed Volumizing Dry Shampoo

Infused with a floral tea scent – Long-lasting Oil Absorption

Free of: sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten and artificial colors. Your ultimate hair care pick-me-up is now easier than lather, rinse and repeat. Skip a wash and extend your style with this lightweight, chia seed infused formula to transform hair from lifeless to voluminous. Ultra-fine rice starch acts quickly to soak up oil, sweat and odour leaving hair big, bouncy and clean. Amping up your beauty routine has never been this easy!

I have three main criteria for evaluating a dry shampoo, the first and most important is does it make my hair look clean. The second is does it make my hair feel clean, and not dry and straw like. And the third and final is the scent, is it mild and pleasant or strong and awful.

Hask Chia Seed Volumizing Dry Shampoo

So how does the Chia Seed Volumizing Dry Shampoo measure up?

My hair is approximately bra strap length, and is thick and wavy. My hair is normal at the roots, drier at the ends. I mostly use a dry shampoo to get an extra day between washes, so I can go 3 days, before I need to wash my hair if I use dry shampoo after day 2.

It works pretty well to make my hair look and feel clean and add volume. It doesn’t leave a white or grey cast on my dark brunette hair, nor does it make it feel dry or gross. And it doesn’t irritate my scalp like some dry shampoos. Scent-wise, it is mild and pleasant –  a floral tea scent – so no complaints there.

Hask Chia Seed Volumizing Dry Shampoo

I’d like to try some of the other dry shampoos in this line to see how they compare. It is also available in Argan, Coconut, Charcoal and Kalahari Melon – out of which I’d try them all except for Coconut because as you all know, I really dislike coconut scents.

Have you tried this dry shampoo? What is your fave?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Hask Charcoal with Citrus Oil Purifying Deep Conditioner Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Charcoal with Citrus Oil Purifying Deep Conditioner from Hask.

Here’s what it says on the website:

This deep conditioner is a super-moisturizing, clarifying treatment that will nourish and soften all hair types, (including color treated hair). Charcoal, derived from coconut shells, combined with citrus oil, absorbs impurities and helps restore hair to its natural radiance. We promise, the charcoal washes out!

Hask Charcoal with Citrus Purifying Deep Conditioner

I did not know what to expect with a charcoal and citrus blend – something like burnt lemons I guess. But this deep conditioner smells really AMAZING.

This one doesn’t look the most appealing as it is a pale gray with black specks.

Hask Charcoal with Citrus Purifying Deep Conditioner

I applied the conditioner and left it on for 20 minutes before rinsing it out. I applied my Briogeo Curl Charisma and styled my hair as usual, letting my hair air dry.

The result?

My hair felt soft and did not feel weighed down or waxy. I like this one, but I think that I prefer the Argan Oil one the best for deep conditioning (reviewed here), even though the Charcoal one has the best scent!

Empties – February 2017

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties for February. I didn’t finish up as much as I thought I would this month. Sometimes a product just hangs on and takes forever to finish up that last little bit! But I have been really good at sticking to low buy where I have to use things up before buying more.

Empties - February 2017

Skincare Empties:

Empties - February 2017

Just two products. I am SO close to finishing up two facial cleansers, one moisturizer and that Sukin facial mask.

Saje Sensitive Elixir  (Serum) – This worked really well for whenever my skin was going through a super sensitive stage – especially after Photorejuvenation sessions (to be blogged about very soon, as I’m going for my last session this afternoon). Originally reviewed here. I can’t replace it until I finish up a few more serums in my stash, but it is on my wish list.

Pixi Glow Mud Mask* – I got this one in May at last year’s Toronto Generation Beauty event. I mostly only used this for spot masking, so it lasted quite awhile! Originally reviewed here. I would love to try more products from Pixi Beauty, if I manage to find a Pharmaprix (Shoppers Drug Mart in Quebec) that carries the range.

Makeup Empties:

Empties - Feb 2017

Only two of these are actual empties, the rest are trash or expired.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc: I FINALLY finished it! Original review is here. This is a great foundation, but I won’t be replacing it for awhile as I have a few different ones on my wishlist that I’ve love to try.

Maison Jacynthe Concealer in Light Beige (Anti-cernes 01 Beige Legér)*: This one was nearly finished when the last bit cracked off. Original review is here. I’m not sure if I would purchase a replacement, as I prefer a wand type liquid concealer. Near the end, I found that the concealer had started to get dried out, so it didn’t apply as smoothly as it did when I first started using it.

Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint*: I got this at the Gen Beauty event last year. This one should have been put in an empties post several months ago, but it was lost in my stash. Original review is here. I just did not love this one, so I will not replace it.

Essence the Gel Nail Polish: I love Essence, but I hated this nail polish. It is watery, streaky, and chips incredibly easy. I purchased this at Gen Beauty. I never actually got around to reviewing this one.

I go through my lipstick stash every couple of months and check to see if anything has gone off – my criteria threefold: 1 has the colour gone off? 2. has the texture changed? 3 has the scent changed or gone off? Sadly a few did not pass the test!

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in F-Bomb: Ok, this is my all time fave red lipstick. They don’t even make the Revolution Lipsticks any more! I’ve had this in my stash FOREVER. But they did revive the shade in the new Vice Lipstick line, so I’ll have to check it out to see how the formulation compares. As you can see in the photo on the left, the colour is going off – it almost looks dusty or fuzzy (GROSS).

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Lovelight: This one has started to dry out, and the scent is just starting to go off. I like the shade, but I don’t love it, so I’m not sad about pitching this one.

Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss lip Colour in Adrenaline: This one is also a discontinued product. It had dried out terribly and the scent has gone off. I used to love this pink toned metallic red, but haven’t worn it in a very long time.

Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Luster in Buff: I mostly only ever used this one as a lipstick topper. The texture and scent have changed, and I think that the colour has also gone off. I don’t remember the last time that I’ve worn this.

Hair, Bath and Body:

Empties - Feb 2017

Bausch & Lomb Re-Nu Contact Lens Solution: Not my absolute fave contact lens solution, but I love that they make a travel size version. I just got new contacts again (finally), so I’ve been wearing my glasses less often.

Nu World Botanicals Multi-Nutritive Oil in Energy Boost*: I absolutely LOVE this stuff! I use it in the bath, in my hair, on my body after a shower. I want to replace this, but until I use up a few more things in my stash, it is going on my wishlist. Original review is here.

Hask Argan Oil Repairing Conditioner: I finished the shampoo up in the previous month. This is a great shampoo for hair that is dry. I’d like to try more from Hask, but again, until I clear out more of my stash, I won’t be buying any more shampoo or conditioner. Original review is here.

Herban Cowboy For Her, Maximum Protection Deodorant in Love: I just could not finish this one. It really does not work with my body chemistry. At all. It makes me smell worse than if I had skipped deodorant completely. Yuck. Original review is here.

There you have it, all the empties and trash for the month of February. I’m making progress in cutting down the size of my stash, and spending less money.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Disclosure: Purchased by me, except for products marked with an * (PR sample). However my opinion is my own regardless of whether I purchased the product or got it for free.

Hask Argan Oil Repairing Deep Conditioner Review

Hello, hello!

I’m back with another review of the Hask Deep Conditioners, this time with the Argan Oil Intense Repairing Deep Conditioner pack. I’ve already reviewed the Keratin Protein (smoothing) one.

Hask Argan Oil Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment

Here’s what it says on the Hask website:

Argan Oil from Morocco Repairing Deep Conditioner. HASK Argan Oil Intense Deep Conditioning Treatment, is a super strengthening, hydrating treatment that will restore and smooth dry, damaged, chemically treated or over processed hair. Argan oil, unique to Morocco, is known for its high absorbing, penetrating and split end qualities while leaving even the most damaged hair soft and nourished for added moisture. Treat your hair with this nourishing deep conditioning treatment, formulated to bring life back into your luscious looking locks!

My hair is getting pretty long, it is roughly about halfway down my back, thick, and wavy. It tends to get drier in the winter, so a deep conditioning treatment is necessary to help keep my hair healthy between my occasional trims (around every three to four months).

Despite having long and thick hair, I am able to get two or three uses from these conditioning packs. This one made my hair like silk after rinsing it out. It says on the package to leave on for 10 minutes, but I got distracted and left it on for 30 minutes before rinsing.

I really like the Argan Oil line, I just finished up the Argan Oil Shampoo on the weekend, and the matching conditioner has about one more use left in it, so they will be in my January empties post.

Hask Deep Conditioning Packs

I would definitely purchase this Deep Conditioning pack again. I still have to test and review the Charcoal and Citrus Oil Purifying Deep Conditioner pack before I decide which one is my fave of the bunch.

Have you tried this one? Do you have a favourite deep conditioner?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤
