Burt’s Bees The Luminizer Nourishing Highlighter Review

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have a little review of Burt’s Bees The Luminizer Nourishing Highlighters. These were a part of the swag bag that I received from their Sensitive Solutions Virtual Event. [info in italics taken from the Burt’s Bees Canada website]

Burt's Bees The Luminizer - Star Light and Golden Hour

Burt’s Bees® The Luminizer Nourishing Highlighter provides a healthy glow that instantly illuminates the skin upon application. Made with green tea extract packed with vitamins and antioxidants to support healthy, glowing skin, this Burt’s Bees highlighter hydrates skin and helps improve skin’s overall appearance. Our patented Green Tea Complex is working while you wear it to improve the appearance of your natural skin and to fight uneven skin tone. For an easy, everyday makeup look, this lightweight face highlighter blends effortlessly into the skin to define your best features, or try combining it with moisturizer or foundation for an allover, healthy glow. The non-sticky formula is fragrance free and provides a dewy finish for all skin tones. Formulated without parabens, phthalates, SLS or petrolatum. Keep a tube in your purse or makeup bag for whenever you need a glowing touch.

Burt's Bees The Luminizer - Star Light and Golden Hour

The Luminzer is available in two shades: Star Light and Golden Hour. Star Light is a silvery pink toned highlighter, and Golden Hour is a peachy golden toned highlighter. These are very easy to apply either with fingers or a brush. They also work great mixed into foundation. Both shades are beautiful and wearable – shimmery without being glittery – I find myself reaching for them whenever I wear makeup.

Hello, hello!

K Voss Shine On Stick Metallic Sunset

A buildable and blendable cream highlighter stick with an iridescent finish that glides on easily for on-the-go glow.

K Voss Shine On Stick Metallic Sunset

The main ingredient, Cupuaçu butter, comes from the Rain Forest and is known for its uniquely rich content of phytosterols which benefit dry and damaged skin. It combats free radicals in the tissue, and fatty acids to protect and moisturize, delivering a true healing and restructuring benefits as it improves the skin’s moisture barrier with ultra hydration for improved elasticity.

K Voss Shine On Stick Metallic Sunset

This highlighter stick is available in two shades – metallic sunrise and sparkling rose. I received metallic sunrise. Because I’m quite pale, I can use this as a blush or as a highlighter – it all depend on how much I apply and how much I blend it out. The below is swatched without blending so you can see how intense the colour can be.

My Highlighter Stash

Hello, hello!

Since the Holiday Season is rapidly approaching, I thought I’d share my highlighter collection with you all, since the Holiday’s are a great time to sparkle and shine!

I’ll be showing you my highlighter stash and linking to the original reviews.

Highlighter Stash - Nyx, Essence and Kani Beauty

Nyx Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder in Lavender Steel – I’d recently re-discovered this highlighter in my stash. Because it is so cool toned it is perfect for this time of year! Review is here.

Essence Bloom Me Up Shimmer Powder in Rose It Up – This is an oldie in my collection. If I don’t start to use it more, I’m going to de-stash it. I used to use it daily but as I added more highlighters to my collection, I kind of forgot about it. Review is here.

Nyx Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam – Another forgotten gem in my stash. This is over two years old and will be de-stashed as I don’t like to keep liquid formulations around for a long time. Review is here.

Kani Botanicals Prismatic Highlighter in Rose Quartz – this is the newest highlighter in my collection, it came in my October Petit Vour Box, very icy in tone, perfect for winter! Review is here.

Highlighter Stash - ColourPop, Soap + Glory, Nomad, Maison Jacynthe

ColorPop SuperShock Cheeks in Stole The Show – Another one of my favourite highlighters, so wearable! Review is here.

Soap and Glory Glow All Out Cheek Stick in Ice Shimmer – I won this in a giveaway back in December 2016, this is starting to dry out, so I will de-stash it. Review is here.

Nomad Illuminating Highlighter in Midnight Sun – I never did a full review fo this one, but it is very similar in tone to the Maison Jacynthe one. It is super small, so great for travel! First impressions here.

Maison Jacynthe Illuminator in Sparkling Sun* – This is one of my favourite highlighters, it can be worn for a subtle glow, or for a full on glow effect. I probably use this one the most! Review is here.

Highlighter Stash - Mica Beauty, ColourPop

Mica Beauty Highlighting Powder in #3 – This one is super golden. I don’t use it often as a highlighter because it is so intense, but I do like to use it as an eye shadow! First impressions is here.

ColourPop SuperShock Cheeks in Butterfly Beach – I can use this one as either a highlighter or as a bronzer depending on how much I use / how much I blend it out. I tend to use this one more in the summer, as I’m super pale in the winter so it takes a lot of blending to make it work for me this time of year. Review is here.

Do you have any of these highlighters? What is your fave highlighter?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Kani Botanicals Rose Quartz Prismatic HIghlighter

A lightweight, glowy highlighter balm that leaves a natural, radiant glow. Formulated with nourishing ingredients, it creates a subtle, radiant sheen.

Kani Botanicals Rose Quartz Prismatic HIghlighter

The Prismatic Highlighter is available in two shades, Rose Quartz (a cool toned pink) and Moonstone (light gold). I received the shade Rose Quartz.

This highlighter is great if you love more natural looking, glowy highlights. It is not super glittery, and it blends out really well. I’ve been using it a lot as an inner corner highlight, as well as a cheekbone highlight. The swatch below is without any blending:

Best of 2017 – Makeup

Hello, hello!

Today I’m sharing my top makeup picks for 2017. These are all new to me products that I’ve tested out during the year, and do not include any old favourites. These products are the most used, and most loved additions to my makeup collection in 2017.

Best of 2017 Makeup

Masion Jacynthe Fluide de Teint / Fluid Foundation (PR Sample) – This is the perfect foundation for this time of year when my skin needs extra moisture as this is a hydrating and dewy finish foundation. I’ve been adding in a little of one of my paler foundations to get a perfect shade match for my winter pale skin. Reviewed here.

The Ordinary Serum Foundation – This is a great all year round foundation as it contains some SPF, and is lightweight, with what I would call a semi-matte finish (not a super flat matte). I have this in two shades (1.2P and 1.1N). I’d like to try the 1.1P next. Lately I’ve been mixing the two together to make the perfect shade for me! Reviewed here and here.

Milani The Multitasker Face Powder – I use this powder to set my Maison Jacynthe Fluid Foundation, to make the finish is little less dewy, and to cut down on shine on my nose for other foundations. Reviewed here.

Maison Jacynthe Illuminateur / Illuminator  (PR Sample) – I have this in the shade Sparkling Sun, a pale gold toned highlighter. It is great for adding a subtle glow to the skin. Out of all the highlighters that I own, I seem to use this one the most. Reviewed here.

Hey Honey Active Propolis Cream Concealer – This concealer works so well for the under eye area as it hydrates and conceals. Reviewed here.

Best of 2017 Makeup

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks in Pepper, Rhubarb, and Verbena – I’ve been wearing these lipsticks ALL THE TIME since purchasing my first one in the spring. The best lipstick formula I’ve ever tried. Reviewed here, here and here.

Sothys Paris Velvet Effect Lipstick in Rose le Pic (PR Sample) – This lipstick formula comes close to the perfection of the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick. It is a very wearable rose shade that I’ve been wearing a lot. Reviewed here.

Essence Cosmetics The False Lashes Mascara – This is the best non-waterproof mascara I’ve ever tried. My eyes water easily, so most non-waterproof mascaras are a no-go for me. This one has everything I look for in a mascara – deep, dark, ultra black, volumizing, lengthening, AND hold a curl without flaking or running / smearing. I need to pick up a new tube asap! Reviewed here.

What were your most favourite products for 2017?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: All PR Samples identified, the rest have been purchased by me. My opinion is my own.

Ipsy GlamBag May 2017 Unbox & First Impressions

Hello, hello!

My May Ipsy Glam Bag finally arrived. This month’s bag has a summer theme.

Let’s see what I got this month! (Descriptions in italics taken from the Ipsy website)

Up first is a Charcoal Wash Off Mask from Global Beauty Care

Ipsy GlamBag May 2017

  • Another mud mask? Groundbreaking. But seriously, this one’s special! It’s made from charcoal, which digs deep to gently remove icky dirt and grime without drying out your skin.

  • If you want to skip makeup, this mask is great for prepping your complexion to bare it all. Think: all the glowy goodness of a facial in just 15 minutes!

I love facial masks, so I was pretty happy to get this one. I have yet to try it out, so a review is still to come. According to the packaging, this product is not tested on animals.

Up next, is a five shade Island Life mini palette from Pacifica.
