Ipsy GlamBag Oct 2017 Unboxing

Hello, hello!

My Ipsy GlamBag arrived yesterday, so let’s take a look to see what I got:

The theme for this month’s bag is Spellbound, and the bag is a burgundy faux lace print with a bat zipper pull. It is cute, but I don’t think that it really conveys the theme of Spellbound.

Ipsy GlamBag Oct 2017

First up is the Water Luminous Jelly Cleanser by JMsolution:

Ipsy GlamBag Oct 2017

  • Did someone say “foam party?” The jelly-like formula felt so refreshing on our skin, and then bubbled up like crazy when we mixed it with water.
  • It’s made with hyaluronic acid (lots of it) which helps keep your skin hydrated even after you wash it off.
  • It deep cleans, but it’s way gentle so you can use it alll the time—perf if you have sensitive skin.
Second is the Hey Honey Trick and Treat Active Propolis Cream Concealer:
  • Under eye circles? To the left. This lightweight concealer is insanely hydrating (which helps to soothe and soften them) and has buildable, believable coverage.
  • It’s made with active propolis. Active what? That’s an ingredient honey bees collect from flowers while they’re buzzing around. It helps restore your skin’s structure and protects against damage. Aww thanks, bees!
  • It’s also got Amino acids, vitamin E, and nourishing oils. Your face will thank you.

This looks super dark on my pale skin but it actually blended in nicely on my arm. It kind of reminds me of the Becca Undereye Brightening Corrector. I’m going to give it a wear test tomorrow. Hey Honey is cruelty free but not vegan (due to the honey content).

Third up is the Firma Beauty 201 Tall Blender Brush:

Ipsy GlamBag Oct 2017

  • Because we’re not all artists (does paint by numbers count?), this bomb brush makes blending your eyeshadows a cinch.
  • Its bristles are gentle, soft and synthetic—so it’s made with mad love for the animals.
  • Try using it to blend shadow onto your lower lash line. Instant smoke.
Fourth up is the Tarte Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes 4 in 1 Mascara:
Ipsy GlamBag Oct 2017
  • Lengthening. Curling. Volumizing. Conditioning. This mascara seriously made our lashes look longer, fatter, and lifted in a few quick strokes.
  • The awesome “MagniLASH” wand was designed to coat, separate, and define everyyy last lash. You’ll be shocked at how much of a difference this little brush makes.
  • No animals were harmed in the making of your fab lashes. This cruelty-free formula is totally vegan.

I haven’t tested this mascara out yet, I’m going to wait until I use up another mascara in my stash. But this one sounds great, so I’m hopeful despite it being a non waterproof formula. This one is cruelty free and vegan as well! This mascara was so difficult to photograph.

The fifth and final is the Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer in Light:

  • You’re killing it with your eye look, so why not make it last? This lid primer (yes, that’s a thing) prevents creasing and holds your shadow in place wayyy longer.
  • You know how sometimes makeup shades look different in the palette than on your skin? This evens out your lid tone to make shadows look bolder and brighter when you apply them.
  • It was developed by professional photogs to make eye makeup look flawless in photo shoots, so it’ll DEF help you step up your selfie game.

I was excited to get this one since Smashbox just got their cruelty free status back. But I just don’t know about this one, it is super thick and cakey and dry. Did I get an old or dried out sample? I don’t know, but this one is going into the bin! Yuck!

I cashed in my points to get a Glass Nail File from Margaret Dabbs. It seems to be a standard glass nail file, so I look forward to using this.

Ipsy GlamBag Oct 2017

I decided to cancel my Ipsy subscription after this bag. I’ve been thinking about cancelling for a few months now.

I’ve decided to sign up for the Petit Vour subscription box that only sends cruelty free products – can’t wait until next month to get my first one!

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: I pay for this subscription!

Ipsy GlamBag July 2017 Unboxing & First Impressions

hello, hello!

Today I have my unboxing and first impressions for my July Ipsy GlamBag. (All info in italics is taken from the Ipsy website)

Let’s take a look! The bag itself is pretty cute with Sanrio’s Gudetama, a lazy egg creature.

Here’s the insert card:

Up first is a Crease Brush from IBY Beauty.

  • Wanna step up your shadow game ASAP?! You’ll need the right tools. Thankfully, this blending master picks up what you’re putting down, flawlessly. (No fallout here thankyouverymuch.)
  • Thanks to the dense, domed shape, this is THE brush you need to blend out your darker shadow shades and create fierce definition.
  • It’s furry friendly! The super soft, synthetic bristles are 100% vegan.

I absolutely love getting brushes in my Ipsy GlamBags, especially when they are cruelty free and vegan.

Second is the Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet from Caudalie

Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017

  • Cult classic alert! This bestselling baby helps hydrate, soothe, and soften ALL skin types. (Shout out to all you hyper-sensitive peeps!)
  • We love a cooling, refreshing sorbet in the summer, and this is no exception! It’s totes lightweight, so your skin will feel rejuvenated and oh-so fresh.
  • Forever young? Yes please! This moisturizing gem is legit loaded with a patented cocktail of organic grape water and grape-seed polyphenols, which protect your skin from icky wrinkle-causing free radicals.
Third is the Illuminating Highlighter from Nomad Cosmetics in the shade Midnight Sun:
  • This summer we’re taking it #overeasy, so we’re all about that maximum glow potential with little-to-no effort. (Sorry not sorry.) That’s why we’re OBSESSED with this gorg golden highlighter that makes us look dewy AF in a flash.
  • Glittery, shimmery highlighter is SO not chill. The finely-milled powder is infused with a nutrient-packed Nordic superberry for a totally natural looking, lit-from-within finish.
  • Wanna go for a beach babe-tastic monochromatic glow? This golden wonder also works as an eyeshadow!

Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017

I’ll start with the good, this highlighter is a soft and finely milled highlighter that is cruelty free, and the shade is beautiful – similar to the one that I recently reviewed from Maison Jacynthe. The bad is that this is so tiny. It is miniscule!
Fourth is the Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel from Tarte:
Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017
  • Dissolve waterproof makeup with this hypoallergenic, non-drying cleanser that’s ideal for daily use.

  • Seafood? It’s vegan, so antioxidant marine ingredients like algae and marine flower extract are the only food we see! (It’s food for your skin. Don’t eat this gel, even though it smells amazing.)

  • Turn your medicine cabinet into a mermaid’s treasure trove with the irresistible under-the-sea packaging.

Again, I’l start with the good – this cleanser sounds really amazing, I plan on taking it with me on my upcoming vacation next month. And it is cruelty free. The bad is how disappointingly tiny this sample is.
The fifth and final product is the Wonderwand Gel-Kohl Hybrid Liner in Black from Ciaté London:
Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017
  • Black liners are a dime a dozen, but we’ve never seen one like this. TBH, this *wonderwand* is giving us maj Wonder Woman vibes. (Like the kind of wonder woman who can create an amazing cat eye and make it look effortless.)
  • You can literally create ANY eye look (from slept in and smudgy to razor sharp flicks) with this magic wand. It’s double-ended with a rich, inky black kohl formula on one side and a blending/smudging brush on the other.
  • Real talk: We expect a LOT from our liners, and we simply won’t stand for anything less than long-wearing. We wore this one to our BFFs wedding and it stayed on point all. damn. day.
YET ANOTHER BLACK EYELINER. It is cruelty free at least. But I’ll be passing this onto someone who will use it as I have more eyeliners than I will ever use in my lifetime.
This photo shows my overall feeling towards the bag:
Ipsy Glam Bag July 2017
I’m happy with the inclusion of mostly cruelty free brands, but I’m rather meh about how small the samples are – I don’t feel that this month’s bag was worth the $20 CAD (with the exchange rate) that I paid. And I’m super annoyed that I got yet another black eyeliner.
I plan on keeping my Ipsy monthly subscription for another couple of months to see if they redeem themselves.
Disclosure: I pay for this subscription.

Ipsy GlamBag June 2017 Unboxing & First Impressions

Hello, hello!

Today I have my unboxing and first impressions on the June Ipsy GlamBag. The theme for this month is “Volume Up” – to fearlessly express yourself. All text in italics taken from the Ipsy website.

The bag design this month is a super cute, canvas bag. Let’s see what was inside:

Beaute Basics Travel Face Blender

  • Streaky makeup is so not ok! This blending beauty helps you apply all your liquid and cream formulas like a boss—so your complexion looks airbrushed, filtered, and totes flawless.
  • Brushes can be so tricky. We love how this super easy-to-use sponge gets all up in the hard-to-reach places (like the edge of your nose and inner corners of your eyes).
  • This small wonder is great for travel, and the #millennialpink shade happens to look really cute in your makeup kit.

I actually needed to replace one of my makeup sponges, so this came at a perfect time. This travel face blender is a firmer, bouncier sponge than what I’m used to, but I’m sure that I can make it work.

Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Recovery Cream

Ipsy GlamBag June 2017

  • We already know that probiotics are good for our insides (that’s why we OD on yogurt, right?), but they’re also AMAZING for our skin. That’s why we’re super obsessed with this probiotic-infused moisturizing miracle cream!

  • It’s also made with ultra powerful peptides and Vitamin C, which brightens up dull skin and enhances natural collagen reproduction (AKA makes us look younger.)

  • This stuff is legit. Aside from “skincare queen/anti-aging specialist”, Dr. Fan’s job titles ALSO include biochemist, microbiologist, and practicing ophthalmologist. NBD.

I haven’t tried this, but I did open it enough to smell it – it is highly scented, so I will be passing this onto someone who doesn’t mind using scented facial products. It is cruelty free though, which is awesome!

Make Up Forever Aqua XL Eye Pencil in M-10 Matte Black

  • The cutting-edge formula is insanely creamy, so it glides on like buttah with no tugging or dragging.

  • Because YOU draw the line, and YOU get to call the shots, this waterproof baby literally stays put until you decide it’s quitting time. (Just make sure you have some good makeup remover on deck!)

  • Wanna try a blurred-out, rock n’ roll liner look? This perf pencil gives you plenty of time to smudge up your lines before it sets for good.

Another black eyeliner. Joy. I have enough black eyeliners to last a lifetime. I’ll be passing this onto someone who will use it.

Kokie Cosmetics Nail Polish in Atlantis at Last

Ipsy GlamBag May 2017 Unbox & First Impressions

Hello, hello!

My May Ipsy Glam Bag finally arrived. This month’s bag has a summer theme.

Let’s see what I got this month! (Descriptions in italics taken from the Ipsy website)

Up first is a Charcoal Wash Off Mask from Global Beauty Care

Ipsy GlamBag May 2017

  • Another mud mask? Groundbreaking. But seriously, this one’s special! It’s made from charcoal, which digs deep to gently remove icky dirt and grime without drying out your skin.

  • If you want to skip makeup, this mask is great for prepping your complexion to bare it all. Think: all the glowy goodness of a facial in just 15 minutes!

I love facial masks, so I was pretty happy to get this one. I have yet to try it out, so a review is still to come. According to the packaging, this product is not tested on animals.

Up next, is a five shade Island Life mini palette from Pacifica.

Ipsy Glam Bag March 2017 Unboxing / First Impressions

Hello, hello!

Yes, you read that right, this is my March Ipsy Glam Bag unboxing. Why? Because my March bag got lost in the mail, and they sent out a replacement bag and it arrived after my April Glam Bag! Ipsy CS had warned me that I might not get the products that were picked for me in my first bag, but surprisingly enough, everything in the replacement bag was what I was originally supposed to receive.

IpsyMar17 1

Bag design: pale pink fold over type bag, with the face having a honeycomb textured weave, and with the back being plain. It is a cute bag. The month’s theme was “You are Beautiful”.

Product #1: First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer (cruelty free)

Ipsy Glam Bag Mar 2017

I’m super happy to get this one, I’ve used it before I started blogging and I remember liking it. I’m saving it for my summer vacation, so I won’t be opening it until then.

Product #2: Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in Rosé (cruelty free)

Ipsy Glam Bag Mar 2017

At first glance it appears to be nearly the same shade as Birthday Suit (in the 2017 Sephora Beauty Insider Birthday Gift). But I like this shade better. I’ve swatched them side by side for comparison.

Ipsy Glam Bag March 2017

Product #3: Marc Anthony Deep Repair Aloe and Jasmine Conditioning Treatment

Ipsy Glam Bag Mar 2017

I own other products from Marc Anthony that have the not tested on animals logo on the packaging, so something must have changed on the past year since this one does not, nor do other products that I’ve looked at recently. I really don’t like the scent of jasmine in most products, but thankfully the aloe vera makes this passable scent-wise for me. I haven’t done more than just sniff this. I might pass it onto someone…

Product #4: Elizabeth Mott Blending Brush (cruelty free)

Ipsy Glam Bag Mar 2017

I love getting brushes in my Ipsy Glam Bag. This is a cute little blending brush. I wish that the handle was a bit longer, but that is just a personal preference thing.

Product #5: Doucce Freematic Eyeshadow in Marisa (cruelty free)

Ipsy Glam Bag Mar 2017

This is so tiny! The outer packaging made it look like we were getting a nice sized pan, but it is so mini!

So there you have it, it is a pretty good bag, for March.

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017 Unboxing and First Impressions

Hello, hello!

This was supposed to go up yesterday, oops! Oh well, better late than never.

This month’s theme is “side show” – hence this month’s bag is a ticket to the “side show”. It’s a cute bag this month, and I’m fairly happy with everything that I received. (Descriptions in italics taken from the Ipsy website)

Onto the contents! First up is the Soothing Aloe Gel from Hanalei (a cruelty free brand):

  • Have you ever used aloe beyond sunburn season? We hadn’t either. But now we can’t live without it.

  • It’s cooling, refreshing, smoothing, and it feels ahhhh-mayyyy-zing.

  • Aloe is naturally regenerative, so it will help balance out any redness or uneven skin tone.

  • The gel texture also makes a killer makeup primer.

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017

I’m kind of happy to get this one, it is always good to have some aloe gel on hand in the summer time in case of sunburn – even though I am pretty good at always wearing SPF and taking a travel sized one with me to top up. I’ll be saving this one for the summer months.

Next is a Highlighting Powder from Mica Beauty in shade #3 (cruelty free):

  • Get all candlelit and dreamy in seconds. Just sweep across your face and chest with a big fluffy brush.
  • Sure, it’s makeup, but it’s also packed with antioxidants to protect and nourish your complexion (almost like skincare).
  • You can use it as an eyeshadow, too. Just apply with a damp brush for added intensity.
  • Skin kinda sensitive? Prefer chemical-free makeup? This highlighter is for you! Only pure mica and minerals are used in this all-natural powder.

I didn’t have a gold toned highlighter in my collection, so I’m pretty happy about this one – plus it will make a great eye shadow!

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017

Next is a lip balm – Bésame Mucho from Hey Honey (cruelty free):

  • When a product name translates to “kiss me a lot,” you know it’s going to work wonders for your lips.

  • Heard of propolis? We hadn’t either. It’s an extract from beehives that both hydrates and is antibacterial. This balm has loads of it, plus shea butter.

  • Lips feeling parched? Slather on a super thick coat to turn this into an overnight lip mask.

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017

You all know that I’m a lip balm addict, so I’ll make use of this one as soon as I finish up one of the ones currently in use!

Next is the Luxie Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush #660 (cruelty free):

  • We wish we were as good at multitasking as this genius brush! You can use it for all your liquid, cream, or powder foundations, concealers, highlighters AND bronzers. NBD.

  • Earn brush bragging rights. The pretty periwinkle handle looks amazing in your kit, but even better on your vanity.

  • Pssst! We think we know why it’s called “dreamcatcher.” (It’s because it makes all our makeup application dreams come true!)

  • Have a brush with kindness! This fluffy beauty is 100% vegan and cruelty-free.

ipsy Glam Bag February 2017 Unboxing & First Impressions

hello, hello!

This month’s ipsy Glam Bag arrived a little later than usual this month, but better late than never! Especially since I think that this month’s bag was a good one!

The bag itself is a cute little denim number with bright orange trim. Not overly Valentine themed as I was expecting, but it is still cute.

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 2017

So what did I get? This post is just an unboxing and first impressions full reviews to come later.

First up is a Nyx Butter Lipstick in shade Ripe Berry:

  • Right now this satin finish is our goldilocks texture. Glossy is too much. Matte isn’t doing the trick. But this is just right!

  • These are so insanely creamy that there’s no need to use lip balm beforehand.

  • Ripe Berry is a totally appropos name; the hue (which has cool, purple undertones) reminds us of crushed raspberries.

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 2017

This is a great creamy lipstick, in a nice sheer berry shade. I love the Nyx Butter Lipsticks, so I was happy to get this one. A cruelty free brand, yay!

Up next is a Hikari Cream Pigment Eye Shadow in Latte:

  • Don’t be fooled by the name, there’s nothing milky about this metallic copper.

  • It’s so richly pigmented that even a tiny bit makes your eyes pop.

  • You can use it three ways: Brush it on for a bold metallic shadow, swipe on with your fingertips for a messier smoky look, or use a liner brush and create a gleaming cat eye.

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 2017

This is a beautiful coppery shadow. I love copper tones, and it is a cruelty free brand, so I’m super happy with this one as well. The packaging though is terrible – flimsy plastic – I’m going to depot this once I buy a z-palette (or something similar).

Swatches of the Nyx Butter Lipstick and Hikari Cream Pigment Eye Shadow:

ipsy-feb17-11

Up next is a True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask:

  • Go from a dull complexion to one that’s insanely glowy in five minutes, flat.

  • It both exfoliates (with lactic acid) and hydrates (with avocado butter), the ultimate dream team for scoring radiant skin.

  • This is totally splurge-worthy. The full size tub costs $$$ at high end department stores. (But you get to try it for like….nada.)

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 17

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 17

I am unsure if this brand is cruelty free or not. I was initially excited about this facial mask, but it is really strongly scented – to my nose it is very jasmine – one of my most hated scents, so I will be passing this onto someone who doesn’t mind scented products.

Up next is a Bellapierre Cosmetics VolumeLash Waterproof Mascara:

  • You could be watching The Notebook while taking a swim on the most humid of summer days, and this smudge-free formula wouldn’t run.

  • The flexible brush perfectly separates and coats every single lash, so your fringe looks completely full and defined.

  • Even though it’s waterproof, a makeup removing wipe will take it right off, no tugging or rubbing (or lash damage) required.

ipsy-feb17-8

Finally a waterproof mascara! I’m super excited to try this one out! Another cruelty free brand!

The final product is a Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Blush Brush 514:

  • The bristles are vegan, synthetic, and cruelty-free.

  • Soft and fluffy bristles combined with the small domed shape make this great for dusting on highlighter.

  • Is it just us, or does rose gold make everything look dreamy?

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 17

I have a few Luxie brushes, they’re really great, and they’re cruelty free and vegan. I love getting brushes from Ipsy.

All in all, I think this month’s bag was a good one! What did you get in your ipsy glam bag?

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 17

I cashed in a few of my Ipsy points to get the Briogeo Curl Carisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Crème (description taken from the Briogeo website):

Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Crème hydrates, defines, and weather-proofs curls while maintaining touchable movement and light, flexible hold. Mollis leaf and tomato fruit ferments smooth and seal the hair cuticle to lock out frizz-causing environmental moisture to promote consistent curl formation. Ultra-hydrating avocado oil helps hair retain moisture and increases elasticity to protect against damage. For added hold, cocktail with Curl Charisma Frizz Control Gel to create the perfect blend of hydration and hold custom-suited for your hair type.

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 17

This was on my wishlist so I jumped at the chance to get it with my points! Can’t wait to test it out. Another cruelty brand!

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017 Unboxing & First Impressions

Hello, hello!

Just a little unboxing and first impressions for you today for January’s Ipsy Glam Bag. This month’s theme was Metropolis, and the bag is a silvery blue perforated faux leather with a silver lining (visible through the cut outs).

ipsy-jan17-2

Let’s take a look inside this month’s bag! *Descriptions in Italics are from the Ipsy website*

Up first is theBalm’s Bahama Mama Bronzer:

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

When you get back from a beach vaycay, your skin looks sun-kissed, not orange, right? Point being, any natural-looking bronzer is going to have brown undertones, and this one nails it. And since it’s matte, you can also use it to contour, as shadow, or to fill in brows.

ipsy-jan17-4

I was surprised that I liked this one, but it is a nice natural looking, matte bronzer – even on my pale face! I just have to be careful and apply with a light hand. A cruelty free brand!

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

The second product is the Briogeo Rosarco Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Crème:

This silicone-free hotshot smoothes, boosts shine, tames frizz, and protects hair up to 425°F. Plus the ingredient list is totally hair care #SquadGoals: Rosehip oil shields hair from UV damage, argan oil combats frizz, coconut oil seals in moisture, and algae extract strengthens hair.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

I was super happy to get this one as it was on my wishlist after trying the Don’t Despair, Repair Hair Mask. I try not to heat style my hair, but I occasionally use my hair dryer in the winter time, so this is perfect. Review to follow once I’ve used tested it out! Another cruelty free brand!

The third product is the Pur~lisse Blue Lotus Seed 5-in-1 Mud Mask & Exfoliant:

As a rule, mud masks can be well, messy, but this one makes you feel more like you’re at the spa than running a tough mudder. It also does about 10 million amazing things for your complexion (we’re talking brighten, detoxify, tighten, and soothe, all while gently exfoliating), thanks to a power combo of ingredients including blue lotus seeds, bamboo, white clay, ginger, and mushroom.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

I’m not testing out any new skin care products until next weekend, but I can tell you that my skin liked everything that I’ve tried thus far from Pur~lisse. Review to follow once I’ve tested it out! Another cruelty brand!

The fourth product is the Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in Desert Sunset #02:

Made with the most vivid pigments, so we get more color on our lids. And the gorgeous shimmery champagne shade is still giving us a buzz.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

ipsy-jan17-9

Ok, this loose shadow pigment is GORGEOUS! Although the Ipsy description is champagne, on me it pulls more rose gold in tone! I’m not 100% sure of this company’s cruelty free status – still researching. If you know, please tell me!

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

And the fifth and final product is the SLMissGlam Blend Beauty Brush L34:

No boring brushes here! Of course we totally love the purple handle (side note: it’s not only pretty, but much easier to find in an overcrowded makeup bag). The ombré bristles are made of a super soft synthetic material, and the shape is ideal for applying color either just in the crease, or all over your lid.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

I love getting brushed in my Ipsy Glam Bag, it is a great way to expand your brush collection, and test out different brands. This brush has super soft synthetic bristles. The brushes are hand crafted and cruelty free!

I was super happy with this month’s Ipsy Glam Bag. Were you happy with yours?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: I pay for this monthly subscription. And, as always, my opinions are my own!
