Empties – February 2021

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I’m sharing my empties for February. I didn’t finish up a lot this month, but progress is progress when it comes to using up my stash and not letting things go to waste! Let’s take a closer look, and I’ll let you know if the products are something that I will re-purchase (either right away, or eventually) or not at all. I’ll also link to the original reviews.

Makeup:

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream SPF 30 – I love this, and would buy it again eventually. I have a few on my list that I want to try with a higher SPF, so it will be wish-listed for now. Review is here.

Derma MD Glamour Lip Plump – this was a PR product from several years ago! I really liked it, but it got lost in my stash and its really time to let it go! Review is here.

Skincare:

Poetic Blend The Timeless Oil – I won this in a giveaway. I loved this facial oil! I’m not sure if it is still available or not, but if it is, I would buy it once I use up my facial oil stash. Review is here.

Goldfaden MD Facial Detox Clarify + Clear Mask – I think that this might be my second sample of this facial mask. Really great for a spot treatment for an emergency breakout as it is targeted more for oily / acne prone skin, but I’d buy this as it WORKS! Review is here.

Sothys La Creme Yeux-Lèvres (Eye and Lip Cream) – This was a PR gifted product. The jar was huge, and it took me forever to use it up because you only need the tiniest amount. Because it is such a rich eye cream, I only used it at night. It is an expensive product, so it doesn’t work my budget right now. Review is here.

Be On Me Face Cream Sensitive – This was PR gifted. Such a great facial cream. Hydrating without feeling heavy or greasy. Until I finish up a few more moisturizers in my stash, it will go on my wishlist. Review is here.

Bodycare:

Lowen’s Super Salve – PR gifted. This SAVED my poor dry hands this winter. I plan to buy another jar of this stuff as soon as I finish up a few more salves from my stash. Review is here.

UnderCarriage Deodorant Cream No BS formula, Gerouli scent – Already re-purchased a replacement! This is probably the best baking soda free natural deodorant that I’ve tried thus far. It lasts longer than most, and even the Mister likes using it! Review is here.

Have you finished up much this month? Thanks for reading

Disclosure: This post contains a mix of products that I purchased, and PR gifted items, all are identified. However, my opinion is my own whether a product has been purchased or gifted.

Huge Make-Up Declutter 2020

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

I’ve been gradually sorting through my make-up collection and have started the process of decluttering products that are either mega old, or products that I just don’t reach for. I’ll link to any reviews in case you want to check them out.

Blushes and bronzers:

Tarte, Juice Beauty, Sothys*, and Too Faced. All of these, with the exception of the Juice Beauty are more than four years old. The Juice Beauty cream blush is more recent, but sadly, it has started to dry out.

Lipsticks:

ColourPop, Maison Jacynthe*, Essence, Axiology, KVD* and NudeStix – most of these are several years old, and have started to go off.

The ColourPop, Hikari and Too Faced are old and I cannot remember the last time that I used them. The Juice Beauty Foundation has started to go off, the scent has changed – it smells like paint.

Highlighters:

These are all quite old – ColourPop, Essence, Wet N Wild, and Brazen – and I never reach for them anymore.

Have you done a makeup declutter?

Empties December 2019

Hello, hello and Happy New Year!

Here’s my final round of empties for 2019 – I didn’t quite finish up as much as I had hoped by the end of the year, but progress is progress when it comes to using up products from my stash rather than wasting them.

Empties December 2019

As you all probably know, I’m on a low-buy, so if I say I’ll purchase or re-purchase, it means that this product is something that I plan to eventually get once I use up all of that product type in my stash. Let’s take a closer look:

The Ordinary Serum Foundation – This was my second bottle of this foundation. I really like the lightness of serum foundations. I would purchase this one again. Currently using the Juice Beauty serum foundation which I like a lot! Original reviews are here and here.

Native Deodorant in Hibiscus and Mint – I’ve been using various scents of this deodorant for well over a year now. And have two in my stash right now (one regular and one sensitive formulation). I’ll likely re-purchase since it works for me, unless I end up trying something that I like even more. Original review here.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Brightening Gel Cleanser – I love this cleanser, and would buy again for sure. I initially had a sample size from Petit Vour and loved it so much that I bought that full size. Currently have loads of cleansers in my stash, so probably won’t buy for perhaps six months! Review is here.

Luxe Botanics Camu Brightening Moisturizer – This came in a recent Petit Vour box. Loved it. I would purchase a full size if I wasn’t already trying to finish up several moisturizers and face creams. Review is here.

Evolvh Ultimate Styling Lotion – This is my second sample sized bottle. The first was from Petit Vour and this one was a PR sample. It works well for my hair for both wavy and smooth styling. Helps tame frizz without weighing my hair down. I would buy a full size if I ever manage to use up my stash of styling lotions and creams. Review is here.

I’m in the process of doing a massive makeup declutter – so expect a post on that soon!

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive Exfoliating Mask Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive Exfoliating Mask that came in my November Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive

Reveal a brighter complexion with this potent alpha and beta hydroxy acid mask that delivers spa-grade exfoliation, while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as dark spots and discoloration, for optimum age-defying results.

designed for all skin types (except sensitive skin), 20’s and up and is effective for helping uneven skin tone and texture. NOTE: The Juice Beauty GREEN APPLE® Brightening Collection is not designed for very sensitive or rosacea skin due to the alpha/beta hydroxy fruit acids.

This acid peel / mask is not recommended for sensitive skin, but I did a patch test (two actually), one on my wrist, and when that showed no signs of reaction, I did a second test on my neck before trying it out on my face. I can safely say that my sensitive skin CAN tolerate this peel / exfoliating mask! There is some very minor tingle, but within what I would consider to be a safe amount, and my skin is a little pink, but it fades back to normal quite quickly after using.

All in all, I like this one. It helps to brighten and even out skintone, and can help with fine lines.

However, I will caution you if you sensitive skin, or have never used alpha or beta hydroxy acid, to please do a patch test before trying on your face. My skin has reacted badly to some acid type peels in the past – so please be careful!

Have you tried this exfoliating peel mask? Have you ever reacted to a peel type mask?

I have several liquid liners in my stash, so it will take me awhile to get to testing this one out. I like that it is waterproof and a clean formula.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive Exfoliating Mask (sample size 0.5 oz $11 USD, full size 2 oz $48 USD)

Petit Vour November 2019

NOTE: The Juice Beauty GREEN APPLE® Brightening Collection is not designed for very sensitive or rosacea skin due to the alpha/beta hydroxy fruit acids.

I will have to do a patch test due to having sensitive skin. Peels make me nervous as I have reacted to them in the past.

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation Review (Rosy Beige)

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation that I purchased recently after doing a de-clutter of a lot of old foundations from my stash. I mainly only wear foundation in the colder months, and a tinted BB cream with SPF in the warmer months. Since I’d tried and loved Juice Beauty’s Stem Cellular CC Cream, I decided to try their serum foundation. [info in italics taken from the Juice Beauty website]

Juice Beauty Serum Foundation

Skin perfecting foundation and age-defying serum in one with concentrated plant-derived Phyto-Pigments. This buildable to full-coverage formula blends seamlessly for a flawless finish while delivering a noticeably smoother, more youthful looking appearance. Formulated without silicones, its hydrating coconut alkanes and antioxidant-rich technology provides comfort, as well as leaving skin looking radiant.

Juice Beauty Serum Foundation in Rosy Beige

I ordered this foundation online, and took a chance on the shade Rosy Beige for light skin with pink undertones. When I first opened the package I thought that it was going to be way too dark for me, but thankfully the shade match is perfect once blended in!

Juice Beauty Serum Foundation in Rosy Beige

Because this is a watery serum formula, I find that I get the smoothest and most even application by using my fingers, and then buffing / blending with either a sponge or foundation brush.

The coverage is buildable, but I prefer to keep it on the light to medium side. The finish is very smooth and radiant – great for when you want glowing skin!

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Blemish Clearing Serum from Juice Beauty that came in my August Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum

Reduce breakouts, unclog pores, and even skin tone with this powerful serum packed with willow bark, salicylic acid and organic fruit acids; while CoQ10, Vitamin C and organic aloe renew the skin for a healthy, clear complexion. Clears while hydrates.

  • Reduces breakouts & clears clogged pores with beta hydroxy salicylic acid and naturally derived willow bark.

Empties May 2019

Hello, hello!

Another month has just zipped by, and I was fairly successful at using up a bunch of things! As always, I’ll link to any reviews, and let you know if I plan to repurchase (right away, or eventually) or not at all. This is a long one!

Empties May 2019 / Makeup Declutter

Skincare Empties:

Empties May 2019

Goldfaden MD Bright Eyes Eye Cream – (Petit Vour) I really liked this eye cream, hydrating but not greasy, and most importantly it did not irritate my sensitive eyes. I have at least one or more eye creams to use up right now, so no plans to purchase a full size at this time. Review is here.

Shamanuti Seaweed Toner – (Petit Vour) I liked this toner once I changed the spray nozzle, but prefer rose based ones, so I won’t be buying a full size. Review is here.

Lowen’s You Sure Clean Up Nice Face & Body Wash – (PR gifted) It was such a lovely and gentle face and body cleanser (great for travel). This is going on my wishlist as I have more cleansers in my stash to use up. Review is here.

Drunk Elephant Mini Protini Polypeptide Cream & Mini Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser – (Sephora Beauty Insider Birthday Gift) I really liked both the cleanser and cream in this kit a lot, and will be adding both to my wishlist as I am still working my way through my skincare stash. Review is here.

Lauren B Beauty Reparative Cuticle Oil – (Petit Vour) I really liked this one for winter as my cuticles (and hands) get so dry. I have another cuticle balm in my stash to use up, so I don’t need to replace at this time. Review is here.

Juice Beauty Antioxidant Serum – (Petit Vour) I absolutely loved this serum, and I’ll likely get a full size very soon – I think my serum stash is nearly cleared out. Review is here.

Hair, bath and body:

Empties May 2019

Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Body Lotion – (Petit Vour) Super hydrating and smells glorious! Going on the wishlist, as I have a few more body lotions to use up. Review is here.

EVOLVH Ultimate Styling Lotion – (Petit Vour) I love this styling lotion, and have another one in my stash already that was PR gifted in the Love Your Curls Discovery Kit. Great for enhancing waves or curls without a crunchy feeling, just soft and frizz-free hair. Review is here.

Natura Siberica Polar Blueberry Beauty Shower Gel (gift from my Estonian in-laws when we visited Tallinn, Estonia) I loved this shower gel and I’m sad that it is finished! I can’t easily replace this, but I would if I could! Review is here.

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle & Grapefruit Body Oil – (Petit Vour) This was a great body oil even though honeysuckle does not work well with my body chemistry. I’d like to try this body oil in a different scent. Review is here.

Makeup Declutter:

Empties May 2019 / Makeup Declutter

Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Genius Clear Waterproofing Gel from a Brow Genius Kit – This is ancient (pre-historic even), I found it buried in my makeup stash, the gel has become solid, so I couldn’t use it if I wanted to! This was never reviewed as I got it years before I started blogging.

Colour Pop Ultra Metallic Lip in Man Eater – This is more than two years old, and the texture has gone off, so it is time to get rid of it. This was such a beautiful rose gold liquid lipstick. The shade is still available, so perhaps I’ll eventually replace it! Review is here.

Whew, that is a lot of empties! Did you finish up much this month?
