Kind Beauty Collective Samples – Part Two – Modern Minerals and Pour le Monde

This is the second and final part of my Kind Beauty Collective samples review. Part one is here.

modern minerals lola

The third sample, was an eyeshadow from Modern Minerals in Lola. It is a loose mineral eyeshadow.  They are a cruelty-free and vegan company. From the Kind Beauty Collective website, their products contain:

  • No Synthetic Parabens: (Methyl, Propyl, Ethyl, Butyl): Often used to extend the shelf life in cosmetics.

  • No Phthalates, DBP, BBP, and DEHP are now banned in Europe.

  • No Carmine:  also known as “crimson lake or cochinea” a female beetle which is crushed and used as a colorant.

  • No micronized minerals or nanoparticles.

  • We try not to over package our products.  You will not find our cosmetics in extra exterior boxes.  We don’t believe in wasting extra paper to create a box that will ultimately get discarded.  Even though paper can be recycled, we wanted to avoid the extra step and just offer the clean crisp containers with a simple seal for protection.

Lola is described as being “a warm apricot + rose pink with a subtle bronze shimmer” – I think that this is an accurate description.

It is gorgeous, applies easily, and is long wearing. This is definitely being added to my wish list, along with a few of their other shades (of which I believe there are 40 currently).

Modern Minerals eyeshadows can be purchased from the Kind Beauty Collective for $12.50 USD, as well as directly from Modern Minerals.

The fourth sample was an eau de parfum sample from Pour le Monde, in Envision.Pour le Monde is triple-certified cruelty-free by PETA, Leaping Bunny and Vegan Action. There perfumes are vegan and 100% organic and available in three different scents (Envision, Empower, and Together).

Envision by Pour le Monde is Smooth and seductive. Daring and exotic. Irresistibly sensual and long lasting. For when you want to make a statement!

Top notes: A citrus accord of Italian Bergamot, Brazilian orange, Persian lime, Florida grapefruit and pink peppercorn for that little kick!

Middle: Lavender from the fields of South France, Palma rosa and Egyptian geranium rose deliver a nuance of femininity

Base: The warmth and sexiness of Indonesian patchouli and creamy sandalwood blend with the sweetness of Madagascar vanilla to create a scent with serious cuddle factor!

pour le monde envision

This is an interesting scent, I didn’t think that I was going to like it at first sniff from the sample vial. But after reading the scent notes, I decided to give it a try. On me, I can smell the citrus and peppercorn top notes, and the geranium rose middle note, and definitely the patchouli and sandalwood base notes. I don’t really smell the lavender middle note, or the vanilla base note at all. Since I don’t know what palma rosa smells like, I have no idea if I can smell it or not. After the dry down, the citrus notes fade out on my skin, but the peppercorn, and sandalwood really stand out. It is different that what I would normally wear, but there is something about it that I really like. On someone else’s skin, it might smell completely different, but I like this one.

You can find Pour le Monde Eau de Parfum at the Kind Beauty Collective for $82 USD for 1.7 fluid oz (50ml), as well as directly from Pour le Monde.

Disclosure: These were free samples with purchase.

Kind Beauty Collective Samples – Part One – Suntegrity 5-in-1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen

I posted back in April when I unboxed my first Kind Beauty Collective order and have since reviewed the Ahimsa Naturals Solid Brush Cleaner, and the Au Naturale Creme Concealer, but I didn’t get around to reviewing the bundle of samples that they so nicely added with my purchases until now.

Kind Beauty Collective Samples

When I placed my order with the Kind Beauty Collective, they asked if I wanted any skincare or make-up samples, and of course, I said yes, and just to make sure that I got things that I would want to use, I mentioned that I am fairly pale, brunette, blue eyes, and that I have sensitive skin. I recieved the following: 1. Suntegrity 5-in-1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen (in Fair), 2. Zabana Essentials  Facial Cleansing Bar, 3. Modern Minerals Eyeshadow (in Lola), and 4. Pour le Monde Parfum (in Envision). I will be reviewing three of the four samples that were included in my package, in a two part review. Part two is here.

Why only three? I’ll get to that.

First up is the  Suntegrity 5-in-1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen (in Fair). Our weather finally went from dreadful to summery, so I knew that this would be the perfect time to test this one out! On the Kind Beauty Collective site, it is described as:

Suntegrity all in one, “UV Chemical-Free” Tinted Sunscreen/Beauty Benefit (BB) cream treats, hydrates, protects, primes and covers the skin without being greasy. Featuring youth promoting antioxidants that help to scavenge surface free radicals, this cream also provides mineral Broad Spectrum SPF 30 protection.

Hyaluronic acid, astaxanthin, red algae and Certified Organic: aloe vera, jojoba, sunflower, pomegranate, cucumber, and green tea help provide additional sun protection and hydration. Non-nano sized zinc-oxide not only protects the skin from the damaging UV rays, but it also soothes and calms the skin. Zinc-oxide is known for it’s anti-inflammatory properties that often help skin conditions like rosacea, acne, and melasma.

Suntegrity is double certified cruelty-free by both PETA and Leaping Bunny, and the product is vegan. It is available in five different shades: fair, light, golden light, medium, and deep bronze.

Shade-wise, I thought at first swatch on my arm that it was actually going to be too light for me (this is a rare thing, usually products are too dark on my skin), but because it is a light coverage product, the shade works well with my skin tone. The coverage is super sheer, so if you need a heavier coverage, then this is not the product for you. If you look to the right of the swatch, you can faintly see the ink stamp on my arm –  remember this when you look at the next photo which will illustrate the level of coverage once the sunscreen / bb cream is rubbed in:

My sensitive skin did not react to the tinted sunscreen / bb cream. Worn alone, it applied evenly, but when I tried to incorporate it into my regular make-up (concealer, powder foundation, highlighter, and blush) I found that it pilled, and made my make-up streaky and weird on my skin.  I don’t wear liquid foundation, so I have no idea if it would work better with that or not. I think that I would only use this if I was going to the beach, or for going for a run, not for wearing under my make-up.

You can find the  Suntegrity 5-in-1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen at the Kind Beauty Collective, for $45 USD, and they do ship internationally. or directly from Suntegrity Skincare (although I am not 100% sure if they ship internationally).

Secondly, we have the Zabana Essentials  Facial Cleansing Bar. It is described on the Kind Beauty Collective site:

Put your best FACE forward with the  Zabana Essentials French Green Facial Cleansing Bar! A balanced bar that absorbs and removes impurities from the face, with infused DETOXIFYING, TONING & REVITALIZING  essential oils of Tea Tree, Clary Sage, Lavender, and Grapefruit.

It is cruelty-free, and vegan, and the company is certified by PETA. The facial cleansing bar smells lovely, but sadly I didn’t try this one out as my skin reacts badly to Tea Tree oil and makes it burning and red, so I didn’t do more than just look and smell this one.

Zabana Essentials Sample

You can find the Zabana Essentials Facial Cleansing Bar at at the Kind Beauty Collective, for $5.95 USD for a 5 oz bar (142g).

Thanks for reading! ❤

Disclosure – I received these as free samples with purchase.

au naturale creme concealer

It is really difficult to find a good concealer that will work for both undereye circles AND redness or blemishes. I have found ones that work well for one but not both. So when I saw this one on the Kind Beauty Collective website, I knew I had to try it.  The au naturale creme concealer is cruelty-free, vegan and organic.

au naturale1 au naturale4

Here’s the list of ingredients, listed on the packaging:

Organic Castor Oil, Mica, Wildcrafted Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Organic Simmondsia Chinsis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Castor Wax, Iron Oxides, Kaolin, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oleoresin, Organic Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Organic Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Zinc Oxide (Non-Nano), Organic Maranta Arledinacea

Their claim:

My experience:

I ordered in beige as this was described as being best for light skin with pink undertones. I found that it worked well on my undereye circles caused by a recent bout of insomnia and spring allergies. It also worked well to even out redness and hide blemishes with my skintone. I would say that the coverage is medium, but easily buildable to a fuller coverage. I’ve tried applying it both with my fingers and with a concealer brush, it works well with both, it just depends on your application preference. The texture is creamy and smooth, and not “grabby” when applying to the delicate under-eye area. I would definitely purchase this again.

It is available in six different shades, comes in a 5.5ml pot, and can be purchased directly from au naturale, or from the Kind Beauty Collective for $24 (USD).

Ahimsa Solid Brush Cleaner Review

Cleaning your make-up brushes on a regular basis is extremely important for several reasons, most importantly, to eliminate bacteria from your brushes, as well as to remove product build-up.  If you take good care of your make-up tools, they will last for many years.

As someone with extremely sensitive skin, I have to be careful about everything that goes near my skin, and this includes not just make-up and skincare products, but with what I use to clean my make-up brushes with.

I was using Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap 18-in-1 unscented baby-mild pure-castile soap for years but recently read a review on Logical Harmony for Ahimsa Naturals’ Solid Brush Cleaner and was intrigued to try it out since I was almost out of my Dr. Bronner’s.

ahimsa1

Unfortunately there is no ingredient listing on the packaging, or on their website, but they describe their product as containing:

Natural ingredients gently cleanse, moisturize and disinfect makeup brushes. No harsh chemicals (free of sulfates + dyes). No synthetic fragrances

ahimsa4

I did a patch test on my wrist to test for sensitivity issues, and when no reaction occurred, went ahead and washed my brushes according to the directions on the jar:

Instructions for use: Wet the bristles of your brush and swish in a circular motion to produce a lather. Rinse and lay flat to dry. To prevent contamination please allow the cleanser to dry before closing the container.

It was UNBELIEVABLE how much product residue came out of my brushes, and I had cleaned them less than two weeks before!  And the bristles were nice and soft after drying on my Benjabelle brush tree.

benjabelle

The Ahimsa Naturals solid brush cleaner comes in two scents: rosemary and lavender, and grapefruit and bergamot. I chose to buy the rosemary and lavender scent, and it smells so fresh and clean.

This solid brush cleaner comes in a 56g / 2 oz jar, and sells for approximately $16 USD. You can purchase the Ahimsa Naturals solid brush cleanser directly from them, or from the Kind Beauty Collective.
