Today I have a review of the Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Waterproof Mascara by LashBlast – I purchased it a few weeks ago and have been testing it out. [info in italics taken from the Covergirl Canada website and from the packaging]

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Waterproof Mascara

Full Lash Bloom Waterproof Mascara gives you exceptional lash fullness that’s soft even to the touch and is perfect for everyday wear. With our new petal-shaped brush and mousse formula with natural beeswax, lashes are never stiff or brittle. So bring out every last lash, and embrace you in full bloom!

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Waterproof Mascara

Full Lash Bloom brush, with short and long bristles, creates volume from root to tip and combs and coats lashes evenly for full separated volume. Waterproof formula provides volume that stays soft to the touch all day.

Based on the description of the Full Lash Bloom Mascara, this sounds like a great mascara for me. If you’ve been reading abrashattitude.com for awhile, you will know that I am picky about mascara. I have long, super stick-straight lashes that are quite light in colour considering my natural hair colour is dark brown. I use a lash curler and I need a mascara will hold a curl. My eyes are sensitive, and water easily so any mascara that I use must be smudge proof, and at least water-resistant.

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Waterproof Mascara

I have seven requirements for a mascara, and I’ll comment on each requirement and score each point. So how did the Full Lash Bloom Mascara measure up?

1. waterproof / water resistant +1 Waterproof!

2. smudge-proof +1 No smudging!

3. non-flaking / non-clumping +1 No flakes or clumps!

4. must be DARK black (not blackish, not brown black, and definitely not grey black) +1 Super dark black!

5. volumizing +1/2 The volume was ok. Not the full volume that I was hoping for.

6. must hold a curl +1/2 Did not hold a curl as well as I had hoped. Surprising for a waterproof formula, usually they hold a curl much better.

7. non-irritating to my sensitive eyes +1

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Waterproof Mascara

Overall I would give this mascara a 6 out of 7. If it held a curl better and had better volume, I would have scored it higher. I like it, but it’s definitely not a holy grail mascara for me. If the mascara starts to perform better as it dries out a bit, I will re-evaluate my score.

Have you tried this mascara, did you like it?

Covergirl Clean Fresh Skin Milk Foundation Review

Hello, hello! Welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have a review of the Covergirl Fresh Skin Milk Foundation – I’ve already reviewed the matching pressed powder, and now I’ve finally purchased and tested the foundation. [info in italics taken from the Covergirl Canada website]

Show off fresh, healthy skin with COVERGIRL Clean Fresh Skin Milk. Formulated without formaldehyde, phthalates, parabens, sulfates and talc, this lightweight nourishing liquid foundation gives your skin the moisture boost it craves with a delicate infusion of milky coconut and soothing aloe. You’ll experience a glowing, dewy finish that lasts all day long, blurring imperfections and creating a more even skin tone. Pro-tip: Use COVERGIRL TruBlend Face Primer before applying for an even more flawless finish.

The foundation is available in 14 shades, ranging from Porcelain to Dark. I still think that the shade range could be expanded more. I purchased the shade 520 Fair, as the lightest shade looked too light for me.

Shadewise, I think that Fair is pretty close to my natural skin tone. This foundation is super lightweight and hydrating and the finish is very natural looking and radiant. The coverage is light, but buildable, and it evens out my skintone. I think that this is a good choice if your skin is on the normal to dry side. I’m not sure if the dewy finish would work for oily skin.

Covergirl Clean Fresh Pressed Powder Review

Covergirl Clean Fresh Pressed Powder

Hello, hello! Welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Today I have a review of the Clean Fresh Pressed Powder from Covergirl [info in italics taken from the Covergirl website]

Covergirl Clean Fresh Pressed Powder is talc-free and formulated with tapioca and aloe vera powder to absorb oil and deliver fresh, natural-looking skin. The 100% vegan pressed powder makes pores less visible, so skin looks and feels smooth. Apply the powder with the included vegan foam puff for easy application. Covergirl Clean Fresh Pressed Powder is formulated without phthalates, mineral oil, formaldehyde, talc, parabens, or sulfates. Pro-tip: Pair the face powder with Covergirl Clean Fresh Skin Milk for a flawless finish that lasts all day.

This pressed powder is available in 6 shades – 100 translucent, 120 fair, 140 light, 160 medium, 180 tan and 200 rich – not a wide range of shades – kind of ridiculous really. I purchased the shade 140 light and it is perfect for me.

This is a really smooth pressed powder and it looks natural on my skin. I like it a lot!

Alba Botanica Natural Hawaiian Body Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Natural Hawaiian Body Oil from Alba Botanica that I got in my recent mini haul from well.ca. [info in italics taken from well.ca]

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Body Oil

Find sweet saturation with this nutrient-rich, super-smoothing, fast-absorbing body oil. Kukui nut, high in essential fatty acids, works its magic to nourish, hydrate and protect skin from moisture loss. Sweet almond, coconut, flaxseed and sunflower oils douse skin in silky perfection. Hypo-allergenic.

This is a beautiful and quickly absorbing body oil. No greasiness, just soft and smooth skin. It has a mild nutty scent – and thankfully not coconut scented in any way! I’ve been using this body oil after every shower since my package arrived. My only complaint is that I wish that the bottle had a pump dispenser!

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Body Oil

Alba Botanica is a Leaping Bunny certified cruelty free company. Most of their products are vegan, with the exception of a few products that contain beeswax or honey – the lip balms, the Hawaiian Smoothing Sugar Cane Body Polish, and Unpetroleum Jelly.

Ingredients: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil (1), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil (1), Macadamia, Ternifolia Seed Oil, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Oil (1), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil (1), Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Coumarin, Fragrance (Parfum).  [(1) Certified Organic Ingredient]

Hi, welcome to a brash attitude!

To have a brash attitude is to be assertive, confident, bold, audacious, and daring.

For one person, being brash might be to try a color or product that they wouldn’t normally think of using. For someone else, it might mean super-bold, dramatic or in-your-face type make-up look. Both are wonderful and should be encouraged!

I’ve dealt with having uber-sensitive skin my entire life so trying new things can be daunting. I’ve reacted to products that are baby-safe. Soaps and bubble baths, mascaras and lip balms, you name it, I can probably tell you that I’ve had a reaction to it!  Having sensitive skin does not mean that you have to miss out on amazing products, you just have to be a little more cautious about the products that you use. I read the ingredients labels and I test EVERYTHING on my wrist before it touches anywhere else on my body or face.  Because really, there is nothing worse than submerging yourself in a bubble bath only to suddenly fee the onset of a head to toe allergic reaction. Trust me, it sucks! Sensitive does not have to mean BORING! Continue reading
