Empties May 2019

Hello, hello!

Another month has just zipped by, and I was fairly successful at using up a bunch of things! As always, I’ll link to any reviews, and let you know if I plan to repurchase (right away, or eventually) or not at all. This is a long one!

Empties May 2019 / Makeup Declutter

Skincare Empties:

Empties May 2019

Goldfaden MD Bright Eyes Eye Cream – (Petit Vour) I really liked this eye cream, hydrating but not greasy, and most importantly it did not irritate my sensitive eyes. I have at least one or more eye creams to use up right now, so no plans to purchase a full size at this time. Review is here.

Shamanuti Seaweed Toner – (Petit Vour) I liked this toner once I changed the spray nozzle, but prefer rose based ones, so I won’t be buying a full size. Review is here.

Lowen’s You Sure Clean Up Nice Face & Body Wash – (PR gifted) It was such a lovely and gentle face and body cleanser (great for travel). This is going on my wishlist as I have more cleansers in my stash to use up. Review is here.

Drunk Elephant Mini Protini Polypeptide Cream & Mini Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser – (Sephora Beauty Insider Birthday Gift) I really liked both the cleanser and cream in this kit a lot, and will be adding both to my wishlist as I am still working my way through my skincare stash. Review is here.

Lauren B Beauty Reparative Cuticle Oil – (Petit Vour) I really liked this one for winter as my cuticles (and hands) get so dry. I have another cuticle balm in my stash to use up, so I don’t need to replace at this time. Review is here.

Juice Beauty Antioxidant Serum – (Petit Vour) I absolutely loved this serum, and I’ll likely get a full size very soon – I think my serum stash is nearly cleared out. Review is here.

Hair, bath and body:

Empties May 2019

Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Body Lotion – (Petit Vour) Super hydrating and smells glorious! Going on the wishlist, as I have a few more body lotions to use up. Review is here.

EVOLVH Ultimate Styling Lotion – (Petit Vour) I love this styling lotion, and have another one in my stash already that was PR gifted in the Love Your Curls Discovery Kit. Great for enhancing waves or curls without a crunchy feeling, just soft and frizz-free hair. Review is here.

Natura Siberica Polar Blueberry Beauty Shower Gel (gift from my Estonian in-laws when we visited Tallinn, Estonia) I loved this shower gel and I’m sad that it is finished! I can’t easily replace this, but I would if I could! Review is here.

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle & Grapefruit Body Oil – (Petit Vour) This was a great body oil even though honeysuckle does not work well with my body chemistry. I’d like to try this body oil in a different scent. Review is here.

Makeup Declutter:

Empties May 2019 / Makeup Declutter

Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Genius Clear Waterproofing Gel from a Brow Genius Kit – This is ancient (pre-historic even), I found it buried in my makeup stash, the gel has become solid, so I couldn’t use it if I wanted to! This was never reviewed as I got it years before I started blogging.

Colour Pop Ultra Metallic Lip in Man Eater – This is more than two years old, and the texture has gone off, so it is time to get rid of it. This was such a beautiful rose gold liquid lipstick. The shade is still available, so perhaps I’ll eventually replace it! Review is here.

Whew, that is a lot of empties! Did you finish up much this month?

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil from Little Barn Apothecary that came in my March Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil

Luxurious daily moisturizer crafted with organic skin perfecting oils of sesame, jojoba, avocado and vitamin E for intense moisture and a glistening youthful glow. Formulated for all skin types, non-greasy formula quickly absorbs deep into skin providing vitamins and minerals. An indulgent journey through fields of white sun-drenched blossoms, lightly kissed by delicate pink citrus. Honeysuckle absolute and pink grapefruit essential oils blend to create this perfectly sensual aroma: sweet, mildly citrus, sun-drenched floral.

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil

It is no secret that I absolutely love body oils. Especially if they are light and non-greasy while being super hydrating. I really love how this body oil soaks into the skin quickly and deeply hydrates without feeling greasy.

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil

I don’t love the scent, but I don’t hate it either – I’m just not a fan of honeysuckle, but the grapefruit notes makes it work. This body oil is available in other scents, so I’d be interested in checking some of them out eventually.

I love that the ingredient list is fairly short:

100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Prunus Dulcis (Almond) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Absolute, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Essential Oil, Tocopherols (Vitamin E).

Unboxing and First Impressions Petit Vour March 2019

Hello, hello!

My March Petit Vour arrived on April 8th, it seems to be arriving later each month. I often show my Petit Vour box on my InstaGram, but here on the blog you will get the unboxing AND first impressions. Full reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test things out. [all info in italics is taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour March 2019

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the US, $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate @ 1.3678 my box cost me $31.46 CAD this month.

Let’s take a look at what was in the March Petit Vour box:

Petit Vour March 2019

K. Voss Bronzing Potion Glow Cream (sample size 10ml / 0.33 fl oz, $20 USD, full size 30 ml / 1.01 fl oz, $52 USD)

Petit Vour March 2019

Instant luminosity, no filter needed. This sheer illuminating cream creates a natural looking, no makeup glow to all skin tones while moisturizing for a soft, radiant complexion. This ultra-hydrating cream creates a subtle luster and the formula flatters all skin types. Worn alone, over makeup, or as a highlighter, the lightweight bronzer delivers an instant glow to every complexion.

I had one of the K.Voss Plumping Lip Balms and loved it, so I was super excited to try something else from this brand. I’ve seen the Bronzing Potion on InstaGram, and it looked really pretty.

Kahina Giving Beauty Oil Cleanser (sample size 0.37 oz / 11ml, $10 USD full size 3.3 oz / 100 ml, $59 USD)

Petit Vour March 2019

Dissolve makeup, sunscreen and bacteria with this nourishing oil cleanser that leaves skin clean and soft without residue. Super hydrating, antioxidant rich plant oils combine with healing and anti-inflammatory Calendula, Turmeric, and Blue Tansy to calm and detoxify skin. Luxuriate in the scent of a blend of all natural neroli and geranium essential oils.

This unique Oil Cleanser is water soluble and can be removed with just water.  No washcloth required. Ideal for dry, sensitive, and acne prone skin.

This oil cleanser sounds perfect for my sensitive skin, I’ll start using it as soon as I do a skin patch test.

Little Barn Apothecary Honeysuckle + Grapefruit Body Oil (sample size 1.5 oz / 44ml $14 USD, full size 4oz / 118ml, $50 USD)

Petit Vour March 2019

Luxurious daily moisturizer crafted with organic skin perfecting oils of sesame, jojoba, avocado and vitamin E for intense moisture and a glistening youthful glow. Formulated for all skin types, non-greasy formula quickly absorbs deep into skin providing vitamins and minerals. An indulgent journey through fields of white sun-drenched blossoms, lightly kissed by delicate pink citrus. Honeysuckle absolute and pink grapefruit essential oils blend to create this perfectly sensual aroma: sweet, mildly citrus, sun-drenched floral.

I do like body oils, hopefully I will like the scent!

Andalou Naturals Citrus Sunflower Uplifting Shower Gel (sample size 1.7 fl oz, $2 USD, full size 8.5 fl oz, $10 USD)

Petit Vour March 2019

This skin conditioning gel blends emollient rich rosehip and argan oils with coconut water and gentle cleansing botanicals for fresh, healthy looking skin. Uplifting citrus sunflower delights the senses as superfruit antioxidants and ultra-hydrating aloe vera help protect and uplift skin’s moisture barrier for an invigorating, all-over body treatment.

Andalou Naturals makes great bath and body products, so I’m pretty sure that this will be great!

This month, Petit Vour included a bonus for all their subscribers – a fan favourite from either Juice Beauty or Evolvh!

Petit Vour March 2019

I received the Juice Beauty Green Apple Cleansing Bar (Sample size 1.2 oz / 34g $3 USD) – I’ve gotten this one before in a Petit Vour box back in June 2018, and really liked it, the review is here.

Petit Vour March 2019

This month’s box was valued at $46 USD – which works out to $62.92 CAD. All in all, I’m really happy with this month’s box. Reviews to follow once I’ve had a chance to test everything out!

Monthly Empties March 2019 – Part 2

March Empties - Skincare

Hello, hello!

Today I have the second part of my Monthly Empties – all my skincare finishes. Part one was all of my bath and haircare empties. And I will comment on if I will be purchasing or not, and link to my original reviews.

Let’s take a look:

March Empties - Skincare

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser Sample – I got this as a free sample in my last well.ca order. The sample was too small for a full review, but I liked it enough that I want to buy the full size to really test it out.

Nova Scotia Fisherman Sea Kelp Lip Balms x2 – I finished one and the Mister finished the other. Great lip balm for winter. I have a ton of lip balms in my stash, so I have no plans on repurchasing for awhile. Review is here.

MyChelle Dermaceuticals Sun Shield Unscented SPF 28, and Sun Shield Clear Stick SPF 50  *These were PR Samples* I loved these sunscreens, and thankfully they both were nearly finished when I discovered that they were past their expiration dates. I have other sunscreen to use up, so no plans to purchase replacements at this time, but I would highly recommend their sunscreens, as they’re non-greasy and worked well for my sensitive skin. Reviews are here and here.

March Empties - Skincare

Bite Beauty Lip Balm – Another great lip balm, although I prefer their Lip Mask. Again, no plans to repurchase right now, I have a stash of lip balms to use up. Review is here.

Metta Comforting Hand Balm – This was a lifesaver for the winter months! It came in my Petit Vour subscription, and I’m sad that I finished it already. This is going on my wishlist for the fall since I don’t need a heavy duty hand cream in the warmer months. Review is here.

Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Revitalizing Face Oil – Another Petit Vour subscription sample. This was a nice facial oil – hydrating but not heavy or greasy. I’ve no plans to purchase, as I have several facial oils in my stash to use up. Review is here.

March Empties - Skincare

Poetic Blend The Warrior Serum – I won this in an InstaGram giveaway. This serum is one of the best facial serums that I’ve ever used! My skin LOVED it. I’m hoping to buy a replacement soon. Review is here.

Little Barn Apothecary Aloe + Rosewater Balancing Mist – Another one from my Petit Vour subscription. I love facial mists, especially rose based ones. I have two more in my stash to use up, so no plans to buy a full size right now. Review is here.

So there you have it, I’m pretty happy to have finished up more things from my stash.

Little Barn Apothecary Aloe + Rosewater Balance Mist Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Aloe + Rosewater Balance Mist from Little Barn Apothecary that came in my July Petit Vour Box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Little Barn Apothecary Aloe + Rosewater Balancing Mist

A supercharged replenishing and nourishing facial mist with the added benefits of natural botanicals – rose, aloe, hibiscus and witch hazel. This unique combination provides the skin with antioxidant protection known widely to assist in supporting the skin’s own collagen production. Aromas: Deep floral & fresh.

Little Barn Apothecary Aloe + Rosewater Balancing Mist

I am a huge fan of facial mists. This one has very simple, skin friendly, ingredients. I’ve been keeping mine in the fridge, and whenever I need a refreshing blast of moisture, I give my face a spritz.

Little Barn Apothecary Aloe + Rosewater Balancing Mist

The scent is very much rose and a fresh note – I would guess that the aloe is what gives it that extra fresh scent. I absolutely love the scent!

Little Barn Apothecary Aloe + Rosewater Balancing Mist

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Hamamelus Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Distillate, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate (Natural Preservative), Hibiscus Sabdariffa (Hibiscus Flower)

Little Barn Apothecary Aloe + Rosewater Balancing Mist

The sample size is 1 oz  for $8 USD, travel size is 2 oz  for $16 USD, and the full size is  4 oz  for $32 USD

Are you a facial mist user? What is your fave?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Petit Vour Unboxing & First Impressions – July 2018

Hello, hello!

My Petit Vour box finally arrived! This is just an unboxing and first impressions as I’ve not yet had the chance to test things out. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the U.S., $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate (1.3495) my box cost me $31.04 CAD this month

Let’s take a look inside to see what I got this month:

Unboxing Petit Vour July 2018

Unboxing Petit Vour July 2018

This informational month’s card is not the usual beautiful watercolour print – I really love the watercolour art cards.

Unboxing Petit Vour July 2018

Lilah B. Beauty – Divine Duo – Lip & Check Set – sample size of three shades $4 USD, full size single color $46 USD

Double your pleasure with this multi-purpose, creamy lip and cheek duo with a luxurious matte finish. Long-wearing, yet creamy and moisturizing, this innovative formulation provides blend-able and buildable color – perfect for day and night. Apply as a cream eyeshadow for the ultimate multitasker.

This is a blister pack of three shades (b. real, b. fearless, and b. sassy).  This one is kind of a dud value-wise for me as this is something that I would get from Sephora as a free sample. The colours are nice, and I’m sure that it is a lovely product, but come on…

Unboxing Petit Vour July 2018

A supercharged replenishing and nourishing facial mist with the added benefits of natural botanicals – rose, aloe, hibiscus and witch hazel. This unique combination provides the skin with antioxidant protection known widely to assist in supporting the skin’s own collagen production.

I love facial mists. And this one is rosewater based, so I’m likely to fall in love with it! I’m going to pop this in the fridge and try it out in a few hours.

Unboxing Petit Vour July 2018

Total value of this month’s box = $51 USD ($68.82 CAD). Overall my first impression is that this month’s box is a mostly good one – three potentially awesome things, and one woefully small sample. Reviews to follow as soon as I test everything out.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!
