Huge Make-Up Declutter 2020

Hello, hello – welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

I’ve been gradually sorting through my make-up collection and have started the process of decluttering products that are either mega old, or products that I just don’t reach for. I’ll link to any reviews in case you want to check them out.

Blushes and bronzers:

Tarte, Juice Beauty, Sothys*, and Too Faced. All of these, with the exception of the Juice Beauty are more than four years old. The Juice Beauty cream blush is more recent, but sadly, it has started to dry out.

Lipsticks:

ColourPop, Maison Jacynthe*, Essence, Axiology, KVD* and NudeStix – most of these are several years old, and have started to go off.

The ColourPop, Hikari and Too Faced are old and I cannot remember the last time that I used them. The Juice Beauty Foundation has started to go off, the scent has changed – it smells like paint.

Highlighters:

These are all quite old – ColourPop, Essence, Wet N Wild, and Brazen – and I never reach for them anymore.

Have you done a makeup declutter?

Empties January 2020

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties. I didn’t finish up as much as I’d hoped, and am SO CLOSE to finishing a couple of moisturizers. But progress is progress when it comes to finishing up things from my stash! I’m on a low buy, so if I say I’ll purchase / re-purchase it means that I would do so eventually. My goal is to only buy necessities.

Skincare Empties:

Empties January 2020 - Skincare

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA, and Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% – I have at least two more acid type peels to use up, and at least three serums to use up, and so many on my wishlist, that it is doubtful that I will repurchase in the near future. Reviews are here and here.

Derma E Radiance Toner (Glycolic Acid & Rooibos) – I liked this toner (Petit Vour subscription sample). I have other toners to use up, but I really liked this one as it felt gentle. Review is here.

Lavido Aromatic Body Lotion (Mandarin, Orange & Bergamot) – Another Petit Vour sample. I mainly used this as a hand cream, it worked great! I have other body lotions in my stash to use up. Review is here.

Kalos After Hours Soothing Night Cream – A Petit Vour sample. I’m sad that this is empty, it is such an amazing and gentle night cream, especially great for dry and sensitive skin. This one is on my wishlist, as I have a few more moisturizers and creams to use up. Review is here.

Kariderm Moisturizing Protective Cream – This was a PR sample. Another amazing face cream, great for dry and sensitive skin. Lightweight in texture but really hydrating. I would purchase this if I didn’t have a few more to finish up! Review is here.

Makeup Empties:

Empties Jan 2020 2

Catrice Rock Couture Extreme Volume Mascara (Waterproof) – I liked this mascara, but I didn’t love it because it didn’t give me enough volume so I won’t repurchase this one. Review is here.

Maison Jacynthe Fluide de Teint Fluid Foundation – PR Sample. This was in my stash way too long for a liquid product (2.5 years!), so it had to go. I currently have a few foundations in my stash and a list of more that I want to try, so no purchase right now. Review is here.

Hey Honey Trick and Treat Concealer – I think this was an Ipsy Glam Bag sample. A fantastic concealer, I finished it up by mainly using it for toning down the redness in my cheeks on minimal makeup (no foundation) days. I have other concealers to use up currently. Review is here.

Not pictured: Nyx #NOFILTER Finishing Powder – I finally finished this powder! And I cannot find it – I think that the packaging might have gone out in last week’s recycling. I really liked this finishing powder, but I have others in my stash to use up, and a list of powders that I’d like to try. Review is here.

Did you finish up much this month?

Empties January 2019

Hello, hello!

I’m still working my way through my stash and using things up. I managed to finish up a few things this month. Let’s take a look and I’ll let you know if I’ve repurchased or not, or if I plan on repurchasing eventually, and I’ll include a link to the original review(s).

Empties January 2019

Native Deodorant in Lavender Rose and Cedar Sea Salt – Both myself and the mister finished our first natural deodorant sticks from Native. I’ve already purchased replacements, but this time in Hibiscus and Mint for me, and Eucalyptus and Mint for him. I’m also alternating using the sensitive formula in Cotton and Lily scent. Reviews are here and here.

LaCoupe Moroccan Rose Volume Loving Shampoo & Conditioner – This set took me six months to finish up because I can’t use it all the time as I need more hydration for my hair, nor did not give my hair any added volume – both of which I need in the winter time. I won’t be repurchasing as I have a few other shampoo & conditioner sets in my stash to use up. Review is here.

Empties January 2019

Nyx HD Concealer in Porcelain – I’ve purchased this several times since my original review in 2015, and will probably purchase it again once I use up the concealers in my stash.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara – This got lost in my stash, and I’ve had it open for too long. It wasn’t the one for me as it didn’t hold a curl for my stick straight lashes so I won’t purchase this one. Review is here.

Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm – I love this cleansing balm, and plan to repurchase once I finish up another cleanser in my stash. It is super gentle and removes makeup really well (even waterproof mascara). Review is here.

Goldfaden MD Brightening Elixir / Antioxidant Serum – I really liked this serum sample from December’s Petit Vour box and would love to own a full size. But I have a few serums in my stash to use up, so it is going on my wishlist for now. Review is here.

Maison Jacynthe Eau Florale de RoseĀ *PR sample –Ā  I love facial mists / toners. This one is beautiful and a definite wishlist item for me as I have a few facial toners / mists to use up in my stash. I actually finished this one up a few months ago, but the bottle was hidden in my refrigerator so it kept getting left out of my monthly empties. Review is here.

My Highlighter Stash

Hello, hello!

Since the Holiday Season is rapidly approaching, I thought I’d share my highlighter collection with you all, since the Holiday’s are a great time to sparkle and shine!

I’ll be showing you my highlighter stash and linking to the original reviews.

Highlighter Stash - Nyx, Essence and Kani Beauty

Nyx Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder in Lavender Steel – I’d recently re-discovered this highlighter in my stash. Because it is so cool toned it is perfect for this time of year! Review is here.

Essence Bloom Me Up Shimmer Powder in Rose It Up – This is an oldie in my collection. If I don’t start to use it more, I’m going to de-stash it. I used to use it daily but as I added more highlighters to my collection, I kind of forgot about it. Review is here.

Nyx Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam – Another forgotten gem in my stash. This is over two years old and will be de-stashed as I don’t like to keep liquid formulations around for a long time. Review is here.

Kani Botanicals Prismatic Highlighter in Rose Quartz – this is the newest highlighter in my collection, it came in my October Petit Vour Box, very icy in tone, perfect for winter! Review is here.

Highlighter Stash - ColourPop, Soap + Glory, Nomad, Maison Jacynthe

ColorPop SuperShock Cheeks in Stole The Show – Another one of my favourite highlighters, so wearable! Review is here.

Soap and Glory Glow All Out Cheek Stick in Ice Shimmer – I won this in a giveaway back in December 2016, this is starting to dry out, so I will de-stash it. Review is here.

Nomad Illuminating Highlighter in Midnight Sun – I never did a full review fo this one, but it is very similar in tone to the Maison Jacynthe one. It is super small, so great for travel! First impressions here.

Maison Jacynthe Illuminator in Sparkling Sun* – This is one of my favourite highlighters, it can be worn for a subtle glow, or for a full on glow effect. I probably use this one the most! Review is here.

Highlighter Stash - Mica Beauty, ColourPop

Mica Beauty Highlighting Powder in #3 – This one is super golden. I don’t use it often as a highlighter because it is so intense, but I do like to use it as an eye shadow! First impressions is here.

ColourPop SuperShock Cheeks in Butterfly Beach – I can use this one as either a highlighter or as a bronzer depending on how much I use / how much I blend it out. I tend to use this one more in the summer, as I’m super pale in the winter so it takes a lot of blending to make it work for me this time of year. Review is here.

Do you have any of these highlighters? What is your fave highlighter?

What else?

I’m still managing to keep up with the Yoga With Adriene YWA True daily practices so far. Nearly at the half-way mark for the 30 days!

I bought myself a new pair of winter boots because my old pair was not warm and were heavy and so uncomfortable.

Columbia Minx Mid Boots

These are the Columbia Minx Mid boots, and they have are waterproof, breathable, and toasty warm (up to -25F / -32C). They are super lightweight and the soles feel bouncy!

Best of 2017 – Makeup

Hello, hello!

Today I’m sharing my top makeup picks for 2017. These are all new to me products that I’ve tested out during the year, and do not include any old favourites. These products are the most used, and most loved additions to my makeup collection in 2017.

Best of 2017 Makeup

Masion Jacynthe Fluide de Teint / Fluid Foundation (PR Sample) – This is the perfect foundation for this time of year when my skin needs extra moisture as this is a hydrating and dewy finish foundation. I’ve been adding in a little of one of my paler foundations to get a perfect shade match for my winter pale skin. Reviewed here.

The Ordinary Serum Foundation –Ā This is a great all year round foundation as it contains some SPF, and is lightweight, with what I would call a semi-matte finish (not a super flat matte). I have this in two shades (1.2P and 1.1N). I’d like to try the 1.1P next. Lately I’ve been mixing the two together to make the perfect shade for me! Reviewed here and here.

Milani The Multitasker Face Powder – I use this powder to set my Maison Jacynthe Fluid Foundation, to make the finish is little less dewy, and to cut down on shine on my nose for other foundations. Reviewed here.

Maison Jacynthe Illuminateur / IlluminatorĀ  (PR Sample) – I have this in the shade Sparkling Sun, a pale gold toned highlighter. It is great for adding a subtle glow to the skin. Out of all the highlighters that I own, I seem to use this one the most. Reviewed here.

Hey Honey Active Propolis Cream Concealer – This concealer works so well for the under eye area as it hydrates and conceals. Reviewed here.

Best of 2017 Makeup

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks in Pepper, Rhubarb, and Verbena – I’ve been wearing these lipsticks ALL THE TIME since purchasing my first one in the spring. The best lipstick formula I’ve ever tried. Reviewed here, here and here.

Sothys Paris Velvet Effect Lipstick in Rose le Pic (PR Sample) – This lipstick formula comes close to the perfection of the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick. It is a very wearable rose shade that I’ve been wearing a lot. Reviewed here.

Essence Cosmetics The False Lashes Mascara – This is the best non-waterproof mascara I’ve ever tried. My eyes water easily, so most non-waterproof mascaras are a no-go for me. This one has everything I look for in a mascara – deep, dark, ultra black, volumizing, lengthening, AND hold a curl without flaking or running / smearing. I need to pick up a new tube asap! Reviewed here.

What were your most favourite products for 2017?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!
