La Beauté Soi 10 Piece Makeup Brush Set Review

Hello, hello! Welcome to A BRASH ATTITUDE!

Today I’m reviewing the La Beauté Soi 10 Piece Makeup Brush Set that came in my CAUSEBOX Summer Intro Box 3 [info in italics taken from La Beauté Soi website]

La Beaute Soi1

Our 10pcs Ensemble Brush Kit has everything you need ready to be taken on your next adventure. Giving you the flawless complexion and eye looks you crave, all packed in a vegan leather roll in a variety of different color variations to pick from, that will leave any ready to any person on the go.

La Beaute Soi2

The collection consists of the following brushes:
– Angled Liner Brush, Precision Brush, Angled Shadow Brush, Flat Shader Brush, Blending Brush, Concealer Brush, Fan Brush, Pointed Foundation Brush, Angled Blush Brush and Powder Brush

La Beauté Soi

This is a good selection of cruelty-free and vegan makeup brushes. I like that it comes with a brush roll – although I don’t store my brushes in there, and only use the roll for travelling as the bristles can get crumpled if left sitting in there. The handles are sturdy, and the bristles seem to be securely attached – I’ve had no shedding yet after using and washing.

La Beaute Soi4

Out of the ten brushes, there are five face brushes:  the Concealer Brush, Fan Brush, Pointed Foundation Brush, Angled Blush Brush and Powder Brush – out of which, I will use four of them – I have other fan brushes that sit unused in my collection, so this fan brush will likely get neglected as well. I especially like the foundation brush and the powder brush, as these are two brushes that I reach for the most!

La Beaute Soi5

From the five eye brushes: Angled Liner Brush, Precision Brush, Angled Shadow Brush, Flat Shader Brush, Blending Brush, all are brushes that I reach for whenever I wear eye makeup, so it is always good to have several of each. I would say that the precision brush will likely be the least used out of the bunch.

Have you tried any brushes fro La Beauté Soi?

Thanks for reading

Ipsy Glam Bag Unboxing & First Impressions – Sept 2017

Hello, hello!

This month’s Ipsy Glam Bag arrived a little later than usual, but it was well worth the wait! This month’s theme was “Like A Boss”, and I love the bag design – black faux leather with its embossed stud pattern and bright blue lining. Info in italics taken from the Ipsy website.

Let’s take a look at what was inside:

Adesse New York Organic Infused Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Deception

  • This futuristic formula is super opaque, seriously shiny, and looks suspiciously like a gel.
  • Daunted by the DIY mani? Don’t be! The brush dispenses the perfect amount of polish on each nail, so it’s pretty much foolproof.
  • We’re not into playing faves, but this no-nonsense, steely gray shade comes pretty darn close.
  • This varnish is vegan, cruelty free, and totes non-toxic.

This is my second product from Adesse New York. I am so happy with this one, the shade is totally something that I would wear, and I don’t already have something similar. Plus it is cruelty free!

E Nature Birch Juice Hydro Sleeping Pack

Ipsy Glam Bag Sept 2017

  • SOKO GLAM COLLAB: Chosen for ipsters by boss babe/Soko Glam co-founder Charlotte Cho
  • Hard work can happen after hours, too. This boss formula takes the night shift, so you wake up with refreshed, hydrated skin.
  • It’s made with 74% birch juice (AKA birch tree sap) which helps quench your skin while you sleep.
  • Our friends at Soko Glam say: “After using it for the first time, I noticed my face felt very soft and looked beautiful and plumped in the morning.”

I’m looking forward to trying this cruelty free sleeping mask out. It barely has a scent – they only use natural fragrances, so it should not irritate my sensitive skin. Review to follow once I’ve tested it out.

LUXIE ROSE GOLD MEDIUM ANGLED SHADING EYE BRUSH 207

Ipsy Glam Bag Sept 2017

  • We wish we were as good at multitasking as this genius eye brush. Not only does the angled shape help you blend any eye look like a boss, but you can *also* use it for all your fave cream and powder shadows.
  • We’re suckers for anything rose gold, and the pretty handle on this guy looks amaaaazing on our vanity.
  • Have a brush with kindness! This fluffy, synthetic bristled beauty is 100% cruelty-free.

I love getting brushes in my Ipsy Glam Bag, especially ones from Luxie. It is super soft and cruelty free.

Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes The Shadow in Gunmetal

  • Streaks? Creases? #unsubscribe. This velvety baby blends like a dream.
  • Your eye look will be on lockdown. We tested it on an epic errands day and our smoky eye stayed put.
  • Gunmetal is a smoldery, steely gray that *also* looks rad as a liner.

This is a beautiful gunmetal – a shade that I will definitely wear. And it is cruelty free! My only complaint is that it is TINY.

ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Glam Bag

  • You voted, and here’s the winner! This exclusive matte shade was created in collab with our favorite peeps (ipsters like you).
  • The velvety formula is majorly pigmented, which means you get totally opaque, full-coverage color.
  • Even though it’s matte, it’s super comfy and non-drying thanks to moisturizing shea butter and Vitamin E.
Overall verdict:
Ipsy Glam Bag Sept 2017
Ipsy did a fantastic job this month! All five products are cruelty free, and all are products
that I will definitely use.

Ipsy GlamBag May 2017 Unbox & First Impressions

Hello, hello!

My May Ipsy Glam Bag finally arrived. This month’s bag has a summer theme.

Let’s see what I got this month! (Descriptions in italics taken from the Ipsy website)

Up first is a Charcoal Wash Off Mask from Global Beauty Care

Ipsy GlamBag May 2017

  • Another mud mask? Groundbreaking. But seriously, this one’s special! It’s made from charcoal, which digs deep to gently remove icky dirt and grime without drying out your skin.

  • If you want to skip makeup, this mask is great for prepping your complexion to bare it all. Think: all the glowy goodness of a facial in just 15 minutes!

I love facial masks, so I was pretty happy to get this one. I have yet to try it out, so a review is still to come. According to the packaging, this product is not tested on animals.

Up next, is a five shade Island Life mini palette from Pacifica.

ipsy Glam Bag February 2017 Unboxing & First Impressions

hello, hello!

This month’s ipsy Glam Bag arrived a little later than usual this month, but better late than never! Especially since I think that this month’s bag was a good one!

The bag itself is a cute little denim number with bright orange trim. Not overly Valentine themed as I was expecting, but it is still cute.

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 2017

So what did I get? This post is just an unboxing and first impressions full reviews to come later.

First up is a Nyx Butter Lipstick in shade Ripe Berry:

  • Right now this satin finish is our goldilocks texture. Glossy is too much. Matte isn’t doing the trick. But this is just right!

  • These are so insanely creamy that there’s no need to use lip balm beforehand.

  • Ripe Berry is a totally appropos name; the hue (which has cool, purple undertones) reminds us of crushed raspberries.

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 2017

This is a great creamy lipstick, in a nice sheer berry shade. I love the Nyx Butter Lipsticks, so I was happy to get this one. A cruelty free brand, yay!

Up next is a Hikari Cream Pigment Eye Shadow in Latte:

  • Don’t be fooled by the name, there’s nothing milky about this metallic copper.

  • It’s so richly pigmented that even a tiny bit makes your eyes pop.

  • You can use it three ways: Brush it on for a bold metallic shadow, swipe on with your fingertips for a messier smoky look, or use a liner brush and create a gleaming cat eye.

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 2017

This is a beautiful coppery shadow. I love copper tones, and it is a cruelty free brand, so I’m super happy with this one as well. The packaging though is terrible – flimsy plastic – I’m going to depot this once I buy a z-palette (or something similar).

Swatches of the Nyx Butter Lipstick and Hikari Cream Pigment Eye Shadow:

ipsy-feb17-11

Up next is a True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask:

  • Go from a dull complexion to one that’s insanely glowy in five minutes, flat.

  • It both exfoliates (with lactic acid) and hydrates (with avocado butter), the ultimate dream team for scoring radiant skin.

  • This is totally splurge-worthy. The full size tub costs $$$ at high end department stores. (But you get to try it for like….nada.)

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 17

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 17

I am unsure if this brand is cruelty free or not. I was initially excited about this facial mask, but it is really strongly scented – to my nose it is very jasmine – one of my most hated scents, so I will be passing this onto someone who doesn’t mind scented products.

Up next is a Bellapierre Cosmetics VolumeLash Waterproof Mascara:

  • You could be watching The Notebook while taking a swim on the most humid of summer days, and this smudge-free formula wouldn’t run.

  • The flexible brush perfectly separates and coats every single lash, so your fringe looks completely full and defined.

  • Even though it’s waterproof, a makeup removing wipe will take it right off, no tugging or rubbing (or lash damage) required.

ipsy-feb17-8

Finally a waterproof mascara! I’m super excited to try this one out! Another cruelty free brand!

The final product is a Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Blush Brush 514:

  • The bristles are vegan, synthetic, and cruelty-free.

  • Soft and fluffy bristles combined with the small domed shape make this great for dusting on highlighter.

  • Is it just us, or does rose gold make everything look dreamy?

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 17

I have a few Luxie brushes, they’re really great, and they’re cruelty free and vegan. I love getting brushes from Ipsy.

All in all, I think this month’s bag was a good one! What did you get in your ipsy glam bag?

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 17

I cashed in a few of my Ipsy points to get the Briogeo Curl Carisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Crème (description taken from the Briogeo website):

Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Crème hydrates, defines, and weather-proofs curls while maintaining touchable movement and light, flexible hold. Mollis leaf and tomato fruit ferments smooth and seal the hair cuticle to lock out frizz-causing environmental moisture to promote consistent curl formation. Ultra-hydrating avocado oil helps hair retain moisture and increases elasticity to protect against damage. For added hold, cocktail with Curl Charisma Frizz Control Gel to create the perfect blend of hydration and hold custom-suited for your hair type.

Ipsy Glam Bag Feb 17

This was on my wishlist so I jumped at the chance to get it with my points! Can’t wait to test it out. Another cruelty brand!

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017 Unboxing & First Impressions

Hello, hello!

Just a little unboxing and first impressions for you today for January’s Ipsy Glam Bag. This month’s theme was Metropolis, and the bag is a silvery blue perforated faux leather with a silver lining (visible through the cut outs).

ipsy-jan17-2

Let’s take a look inside this month’s bag! *Descriptions in Italics are from the Ipsy website*

Up first is theBalm’s Bahama Mama Bronzer:

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

When you get back from a beach vaycay, your skin looks sun-kissed, not orange, right? Point being, any natural-looking bronzer is going to have brown undertones, and this one nails it. And since it’s matte, you can also use it to contour, as shadow, or to fill in brows.

ipsy-jan17-4

I was surprised that I liked this one, but it is a nice natural looking, matte bronzer – even on my pale face! I just have to be careful and apply with a light hand. A cruelty free brand!

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

The second product is the Briogeo Rosarco Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Crème:

This silicone-free hotshot smoothes, boosts shine, tames frizz, and protects hair up to 425°F. Plus the ingredient list is totally hair care #SquadGoals: Rosehip oil shields hair from UV damage, argan oil combats frizz, coconut oil seals in moisture, and algae extract strengthens hair.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

I was super happy to get this one as it was on my wishlist after trying the Don’t Despair, Repair Hair Mask. I try not to heat style my hair, but I occasionally use my hair dryer in the winter time, so this is perfect. Review to follow once I’ve used tested it out! Another cruelty free brand!

The third product is the Pur~lisse Blue Lotus Seed 5-in-1 Mud Mask & Exfoliant:

As a rule, mud masks can be well, messy, but this one makes you feel more like you’re at the spa than running a tough mudder. It also does about 10 million amazing things for your complexion (we’re talking brighten, detoxify, tighten, and soothe, all while gently exfoliating), thanks to a power combo of ingredients including blue lotus seeds, bamboo, white clay, ginger, and mushroom.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

I’m not testing out any new skin care products until next weekend, but I can tell you that my skin liked everything that I’ve tried thus far from Pur~lisse. Review to follow once I’ve tested it out! Another cruelty brand!

The fourth product is the Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in Desert Sunset #02:

Made with the most vivid pigments, so we get more color on our lids. And the gorgeous shimmery champagne shade is still giving us a buzz.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

ipsy-jan17-9

Ok, this loose shadow pigment is GORGEOUS! Although the Ipsy description is champagne, on me it pulls more rose gold in tone! I’m not 100% sure of this company’s cruelty free status – still researching. If you know, please tell me!

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

And the fifth and final product is the SLMissGlam Blend Beauty Brush L34:

No boring brushes here! Of course we totally love the purple handle (side note: it’s not only pretty, but much easier to find in an overcrowded makeup bag). The ombré bristles are made of a super soft synthetic material, and the shape is ideal for applying color either just in the crease, or all over your lid.

Ipsy Glam Bag Jan 2017

I love getting brushed in my Ipsy Glam Bag, it is a great way to expand your brush collection, and test out different brands. This brush has super soft synthetic bristles. The brushes are hand crafted and cruelty free!

I was super happy with this month’s Ipsy Glam Bag. Were you happy with yours?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: I pay for this monthly subscription. And, as always, my opinions are my own!

Wayne Goss The Air-Brush Review

Hello, hello!

I FINALLY got The Air-Brush! I kept missing out on this Wayne Goss’ brush every time it was re-stocked since it was first introduced, but not this time! *I might have set myself an alarm to not miss out this time, just fyi*

Wayne Goss The Air-Brush

What is The Air-Brush? (info in italics taken from Beautylish.com)

Exquisitely soft and artfully designed by makeup artist Wayne Goss, this limited edition powder brush is the one tool you need to sculpt, buff, and bake your way to a flawless, airbrushed look.

Why It’s Special
  • Master even the most advanced makeup techniques, including contouring, baking, buffing, highlighting, and more, with the versatile tapered shape
  • Decadently soft blue squirrel bristles glide across skin to ensure a smooth, seamless finish
How to Use

Use with your favorite powder products to easily achieve the sculpted, airbrushed look you want. When angled on its thin side, the brush creates a sharp contour line. The tapered tip can be used to apply highlighter to targeted areas. Sweep blush and bronzer onto the cheeks with the large flat side. Buff powder into skin or blend away lines by moving the brush in circular motions with light pressure.

Other Details
  • Handmade by traditional artisans in Japan
  • Made with 100% cruelty-free blue squirrel fur
  • Limited edition
  • For use with powder products only
  • Full length from tip to end: 17 cm
  • Length of bristles: 3.75 cm

I’m a huge fan of Wayne Goss, his brush collection and his youtube channel. I own and have reviewed a four of his brushes already (here and here).

The Air-Brush is just a beautiful as the others, the bristles are ridiculously soft. SO SOFT! The glossy black handle has a nice weight. I prefer brushes with this type of handle.

Wayne Goss The Air-Brush

I’ve only used it for highlighter and bronzer so far, but my makeup technique goal for the new year is to teach myself how to contour. But so far, like my other Wayne Goss brushes (two eye shadow brushes, one blush, and one foundation brush) I’m completely in love!

Wayne Goss The Air-Brush

Have you tried any of his brushes?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Luxie Beauty

Our Luxie Rose Gold Medium Fan Face brush has been handcrafted with ultra soft vegan synthetic bristles to allow a soft touch to the skin when swiping back and forth. This uniquely shaped brush gives you the easiest and precise application of highlighter and bronzer when you need it. It helps enhance and sculpt your cheekbones while also allowing you to swipe away any excess powder from the cheekbones and undereye area.

I’ve been wanting to get a fan brush for several months now. The synthetic bristles are super soft. I’ve been using it for applying highlighter all week.

Luxie Beauty

Luxie BeautyLuxie Rose Gold Tapered Highlighting Brush # 522 ($24 USD) *Generation Beauty Freebie*

Luxie Beauty

A testament to cruelty-free and vegan beauty, this Luxie highlighting brush features a sleek pink handle and rose gold ferrule. The makeup brush has antibacterial synthetic bristles that are clean and soft as silk on the skin. Royal & Langnickel

Royal & Langnickel –  MODA EZglam Duo – Luscious Lips #BMD-EGLL ($5.99 USD) *Generation Beauty Gift Bag Swag*

Nude or dramatic, get full luscious lips with the Pointed Lip and Flat Lip brushes.

Royal & Langnickel

These brushes are great for applying darker shades of liquid lipsticks as I find that the doe foot applicator that most liquid lipsticks have is not precise enough.

Royal & Langnickel

Crown BrushFlawless Face Blender #DP1-O ($24.99 USD) *I purchased this for $6.00 CAD*

Crown Brush

I got this to test out and replace my Real Techniques sponge as it is starting to wear out. The flawless face blender sponge is really soft, and I found it to be easy to use for applying foundation or BB cream.

The photo on the left shows the blender dry, and the photo on the right shows how it looks when dampened.

Crown BrushBrow Duo #C413 ($8.20 USD) *Generation Beauty Gift Bag Swag*

Crown Brush

I use brow pencils right now, so the brow brush end hasn’t been tested out. The bristles are pretty hard though. The spoolie brush end is a spoolie – I think that they are all pretty much the same.

Crown Brush

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Generation Beauty by IPSY (Toronto 2016)

Generation Beauty by IPSY, Toronto 2016

Hello, hello!

I’m back in Montreal after a whirlwind trip to Toronto for the Generation Beauty event that took place over the weekend (May 14th and 15th). I’ve only had enough time to photograph all of the loot from the event. I have not tested anything out yet.

The show took place at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. I took the train from Montreal the day before, and stayed with a friend.

Generation Beauty by IPSY, Toronto 2016

After checking in, I was given my access pass which had a “passport” with little tickets on it. Basically, you get one ticket for each of the booths, which gives you a free product (some companies were giving out sample sizes, and some were giving out full sized products).

Generation Beauty by IPSY, Toronto 2016

Day 1:

I had arrived at the MTCC shortly after 11 am, I think that the doors opened at 10am. The lineups for the bigger brands were already super long, so I decided to see how many of the smaller brands I could visit in the meantime. I know that I was only going to be there until 2pm, as I was planning on meeting up with two of my awesome fellow bloggers Stashy from Stash Matters, and Cat from My Lip Addiction (more on this epic meetup of awesomeness and shopping in Wednesday’s post).

The lineups for Too Faced, Tarte, Makeup Forever, Smashbox and Nyx were insane on the first day. So I decided to leave them for day 2.

Here’s all the loot from day 1:

Generation Beauty by IPSY, Toronto 2016

As well, there was a gift bag filled with more swag:

Generation Beauty by IPSY, Toronto 2016

Generation Beauty by IPSY, Toronto 2016

I don’t know if you can see it due to the reflection, but that is a large powder brush from Tarte!

Day 2:

Because of the insanity of day 1, I decided to be there for when the doors opened at 11am, and found a giant lineup to get into the event. Supposedly people started lining up at 8am!

My goal for the day was to try to get in the lines for Tarte and Too Faced. The lines were mega long immediately after the doors opened, so I ran around to try to hit all of the smaller brands before trying for Tarte and Too Faced. I managed to get to all of the booths except for Nyx, Make Up Forever and Pur, because by the time that I got through the Tarte and Too Faced lines, the show was nearly about to close.

Generation Beauty by IPSY, Toronto 2016

As you can see, I actually made it through the insane lineups for both Tarte and Too Faced! The wait time was more than an hour for each one!

I managed to meet up with Little Beauty Loves! We were trying to find each other and accidentally ended up side by side in the Too Faced line. It was pretty funny!

There was also a gift bag of swag for day two as well:

Generation Beauty by IPSY, Toronto 2016

Generation Beauty by IPSY, Toronto 2016

This was my very first beauty convention. There were things that I really enjoyed, and things that I did not.

Loves:

I loved that there were a surprising number of cruelty free brands taking part in the show. I loved how friendly nearly all of the attendees were. I had great conversations with several people while waiting in the various lines.

Not so loves:

I did not enjoy the super long lineups, especially on day two as I had my backpack with me. This leads to my second complaint – there was no coat and bag check. That sucked, because my bag was HEAVY. My back and shoulders are still sore from lugging all my stuff around for hours.

Overall:

All in all it was a great experience. But if I go next year, I’m wearing my running shoes, and will not be lugging around a heavy backpack. And I will remember to bring a refillable water bottle.

Here’s all the loot that I got for both days:

Generation Beauty by IPSY, Toronto 2016

This doesn’t include anything that I purchased at the show. I’ll include that in Wednesday’s post.

I’ll start testing and swatching things over the next week or so, so I can start reviewing products. I will most likely review things in groups by category, otherwise I’ll be reviewing all of this stuff until next year, haha!

Anything that I received that I know that I will not use, I will not swatch or test. Instead I will set them aside for an upcoming giveaway that I am planning.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Project Focus 10 – The Final Chapter

Hello, hello!

As you know, my fellow collaborators got through the 10 weeks of the Project Focus 10 Challenge. Today I’m just closing the loop and adding some final thoughts.

PF10 The Final Chapter

First of all, I want to thank my fellow collaborators (Ingrid from Curly Spring Blossom, Stashy from Stash Matters, and Joy from Styled with Joy) for keeping the challenge going for all ten weeks. And I especially want to thank Ingrid for being the brain that came up with this collab, and for asking me to participate! ❤

All in all, out of the 10 products, I was able to finish four and trash two.

I think that I will do this again in a few months, because after doing this, and swatching the single shadows in my collection, I’ve realized that I have a lot of makeup that gets neglected.

Summary of the 10 Products (and links in case you missed it):

Hard Candy Primer – reviewed week 1, trashed, will never use again after my bad reaction!

Wayne Goss Brush 01 – reviewed week 2, still in love with this brush, I swear it gets softer each week!

Living Proof Prime Style Extender – reviewed week 3, and finished by week 6! I didn’t notice that it made much of a difference for my hair, so I probably won’t get it again.

Essence Lash Mania Mascara (Waterproof) – reviewed week 4, trashed as it made my lashes droop horribly.

Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream – reviewed week 5, and finished at the end of March! My cuticles need this stuff, so I have to replace it asap!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer –  reviewed week 6, I didn’t use this as much as I had hoped, as I’m still a wee bit too pale right now, but I do plan on wearing it in the summer.

Not Your Mother’s Way to Grow Shampoo – Reviewed week 7, finished! I will probably buy this again at some point, but I have some other shampoos to use up first.

Not Your Mother’s Way to Grow Conditioner – Reviewed week 8, finished! I will probably buy this again at some point, but I have some other conditioners to use up first.

Georgie Beauty False Lashes No. 2 L’Avant Gardiste and Black Lash Adhesive – reviewed week 9, they are so pretty, I need to master the art of applying false lashes!

Urban Decay Naked3 Palette – reviewed week 10, I managed to use this a minimum of twice a week, sometimes more. I’ve actually continued to use it at least once or twice a week since.

Would you do a similar type project pan?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Disclosure: I purchased all of these things!
