Elate Cosmetics Veiled Elation Glowing

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing a product that has been on my wishlist for awhile – the Veiled Elation Loose Mineral Veil in the shade Glowing that I recently purchased. [info in italics taken from the website]

Now onto the product itself. The packaging is stunning, made from bamboo, a sustainable resource.

Finish off your look for the day with Veiled Elation in Glowing. This loose mineral powder literally transforms your skin, with special bamboo extract to reduce redness and irritation. Use Veiled Elation to set your liquid foundation, reduce oil and shine, and create the illusion of flawless skin for that perfect camera-ready glow.

Elate Cosmetics Veiled Elation Glowing

Ingredients: Mica, Bambusa Arundinacea (Bamboo) Stem Extract Boron Nitride, Silica, Iron Oxides, Ultramarines

First off, the packaging is stunning, made from bamboo, a sustainable resource. This translucent mineral powder is great for setting foundation, but I’ve also used it on its own, or with a bit of under-eye concealer. It gives my skin a natural radiant glow without being glittery. It smooths out my skin and so far, doesn’t cling to dry patches or collect in my fine lines. I really like it!

I’ve also previously reviewed the Creme Revealer (concealer) that came in one of my Petit Vour boxes. I have my eye on one of their foundations, but have a few to use up from my stash first.

Thanks for reading.

Kani Botanicals Prismatic Highlighter Review

Kani Botanicals Rose Quartz Prismatic HIghlighter

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Prismatic Highlighter from Kani Botanicals that came in my October Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Kani Botanicals Rose Quartz Prismatic HIghlighter

A lightweight, glowy highlighter balm that leaves a natural, radiant glow. Formulated with nourishing ingredients, it creates a subtle, radiant sheen.

Kani Botanicals Rose Quartz Prismatic HIghlighter

The Prismatic Highlighter is available in two shades, Rose Quartz (a cool toned pink) and Moonstone (light gold). I received the shade Rose Quartz.

This highlighter is great if you love more natural looking, glowy highlights. It is not super glittery, and it blends out really well. I’ve been using it a lot as an inner corner highlight, as well as a cheekbone highlight. The swatch below is without any blending:

Kani Botanicals Rose Quartz Prismatic HIghlighter

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | *Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Mica, *Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, *Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, *Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, *Butyrosepermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Tocopherol (non-GMO Vitamin E), *Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, *Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Silica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77019), / Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Quartz. | *Certified Organic Ingredients.

Empties and De-Stashing September 2018

Hello, hello!

Today I have my empties for September as well as few things that I’m de-stashing because I’ve had them for way too long.

Empties (and whether or not I’ll be re-purchasing):

Empties - September 2018

I didn’t finish up that much this month, but am so close to finishing several things, so I’m sure that I’ll have more in next month’s empties.

Sothys Crème Jeunesse / Youth Cream sample – original review is here. I still have one more sample tube in my stash to use up. (PR sample)

Essence I ❤ Extreme Volume Mascara Waterproof – original review is here, already re-purchased.

Formulary 55 Sea Clay Body Mask – review is here. I won’t be re-purchasing this as my skin reacted to it. (Petit Vour subscription)

MyChelle Dermaceuticals Replenishing Solar Defence SPF 30 – review is here. I don’t need to purchase any replacement sunscreen right now, I have another tube of SPF 28 from MyChelle to finish up, as well as LASpa SPF 20 and SPF 30 in my stash, so I’m set for sunscreen for awhile. (PR sample)

De-stashing Lip Products:

De-Stash Lip September 2018

I finally went through all of my lipsticks to see if any of them have started to go off or dry out, and had to cull a few.

Trèstique Mini Matte Lip Crayon in the shade Belize Bordeaux – The cover came off so it dried out. (Ipsy Glam Bag)

Clove + Hallow Lip Glaze in Candied Hearts – The only reason that I’m de-stashing this is because I broke the casing and now it is leaking. I’m kind of sad about this because I really liked it. (Petit Vour subscription) Review

Hourglass Icon Mini –  this has been in my stash for a long time, it is a gorgeous red, but it has begun to dry out. (Giveaway Prize)

Too Faced Melted Chocolate in Chocolate Honey –  it has gone off. It smells gross. (Generation Beauty Toronto 2016) Review

Soap + Glory Sexy Mother Pucker in Plumble – Sadly it got lost in my stash, and has now started to thicken terribly. I do remember loving it though. (Giveaway Prize) Review

Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in Rosé – I never wear it, although it is pretty, it makes me look like a corpse. (Ipsy Glam Bag, I think)

ColourPop Lippie Stix in Lady, Go Fish and Yasmin – I got these back in July 2015, and they have gotten dry. Review

Eyeliner / Brow Pencil De-stash:

De-Stash Eye September 2018

Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Rocky Mountain Green – the cap was knocked off, so this one got dried out so badly. I really loved this beautiful green pencil. Review

Essence Eyebrow Designer Pencil – another one that got dried out from the cap coming off.

Trèstique Mini Highlight Stick – I rarely ever used this one, and it has dried out. (Ipsy Glam Bag)

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper –  I probably haven’t used this eyeliner since 2016, so it is beyond dried out. (Giveaway Prize)

Did you finish up much this month? DO you plan on doing a de-clutter / de-stash any time soon?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: All PR items and Giveaway Prize Winnings identified. Everything else was purchased by me.

Fall Shadow Edit – Shop My Stash

Fall Shadow Edit

Hello, hello!

I was digging through my eyeshadow stash looking for a green shadow the other day, when the inspiration struck me to set aside a few for fall. With the temperatures (very slowly) starting to cool off, I’m more inclined to go for richer, deeper, smokier shades.

Here are a few of my picks:

Fall Shadow Edit

Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette – I’m still in love with this palette, I use it year round, but seem to go for the darker shades in the fall / winter. Original review and swatches are here.

Fall Shadow Edit

Urban Decay single shadows in Mildew, Cobra, and Loaded. I’ve had these for a long time but you can still buy Mildew and Loaded. Sadly Cobra seems to have been discontinued.

Nyx Prismatic Shadow in Jaded. I got this in an Ipsy GlamBag and it has been lost in my eyeshadow stash for ages, and I forgot that I had it!

What are your shadow picks for fall?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: I won the palette in a giveaway in 2016, and the rest were purchased by me.

Minimal Makeup Faves for May 2018

Hello, hello!

I cannot believe that it is already June! I thought that I would share my makeup faves for the month of May with you (and links to the reviews).

I’ve been wearing minimal makeup these days, but there are a few products that I’ve reached for on days that I wore makeup:

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream

This is perfect for when I want to be wearing sunscreen, but want some light coverage and evening out of my skintone. I don’t think that I’ve worn regular foundation in weeks! Review is here.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector

I’ve been using this under eye corrector since I purchased it in May 2016. It works well for me, and doesn’t crease on me. I especially need it during allergy season! Review is here.

Elate Cosmetics Creme Revealer

Elate Cosmetics Creme Revealer

I’ve been using this a lot since finishing up my Nyx HD Concealer. It works so well with my skintone, and doesn’t cake up! Review is here.

Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow

Wet n Wild Ultimatebrow Retractable Brow Pencil

I use this brow pencil for days when I want a quick and easy brow. When I have loads of time, I’ll use my SureThik Brow Powder, but when I’m strapped for time, I tend to go for this pencil as it is fool-proof! Review is here.

Essence The False Lashes Mascara or I ❤ Extreme Volume Waterproof Mascara

Both are my go to mascaras because they add volume and hold a curl for my stubborn stick straight lashes. I’ve purchased and repurchased both mascaras several times. Reviews are here and here.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Swatches

I’m always wearing of the the Bite Beauty Lipsticks that I own. I have several and all are swatched in my Sweet Cream review ! I can’t wait to own more!

What were your favourites for May?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: Products purchased by me, except for the Juice Beauty CC Cream and Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick – those were birthday gifts (from my mom).

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Pressed Powder Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Pressed Powder in the shade Warm Light. I purchased it early last week and have been testing it out since then. [info in italics taken from the Wet n Wild website]

Pack this genius pressed powder in your bag for endlessly amazing photos every time. Light-diffusing pigments give your skin a veil of silky natural looking perfection in photos and IRL. Wear it alone, on bare skin or over Photo Focus foundation for a flawless finish.

  • Sets makeup with an unbelievably soft, satin finish
  • Reduces shine throughout the day
  • Each shade covers a range of skin tones

Wet n Wild Photofocus Pressed Powder

This powder is available in eight different shades: Warm Light, Neutral Buff, Neutral Beige, Warm Beige, Tan Beige, Golden Tan, Dark Cafe, and Cocoa.

Wet n Wild Photofocus Pressed Powder

Shadewise, Warm Light works perfectly for me. I mainly got this powder to set my foundation, and to reduce shine.

Wet n Wild Photofocus Pressed Powder

It is finely milled and feels silky on the skin. This powder gives my skin a natural finish. I’ve tested it out with bare skin (and under eye concealer),  with my Deciem Serum foundation, and with my Maison Jacynthe foundation, and it looked great with all three.

Have you tried this powder?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Elate Cosmetics Creme Revealer Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Creme Revealer from Elate Cosmetics that came in my February Petit Vour box. Elate Cosmetics is a cruelty free Canadian company! [info in italics taken from Petit Vour]

Petit Vour February 2018

This tiny pot of camouflage superpower will give you a boost when you need it most. Elate Creme Revealer is the skin corrector that reveals a more confident you. The smooth creme application makes this your essential tool for concealing under-eye circles, blemishes, scars and anything else you wish to hide. Of course, your true beauty never needs correcting.

Elate Cosmetics Creme Revealer

The concealer is only available in three shades *sigh*

  • Porcelain is a cool-toned concealer for light skin.
  • Buff is a neutral-toned concealer for light, medium and deep skin.
  • Fawn is a yellow-toned concealer for light, medium and deep skin, and is designed to cover purplish, under-eye circles.

Elate Cosmetics Creme Revealer

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Triglyceride, Cold Pressed Organic Jojoba Oil, Castor Oil, Olivem 1000, Emulsifying Wax, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Silica, Boron Nitride, Bambusa Arundinacea (Bamboo) Stem Extract, Iron Oxides, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Shell Powder, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Shell Extract, Carrot Oil, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Borage Oil.

Elate Cosmetics Creme Revealer

I received the shade Porcelain, which is a perfect shade for my winter pale skin.

I think that this is a great concealer for normal to dry skin, especially when you take a close look at all of the hydrating oils such as jojoba, castor, carrot, sea buckthorn, evening primrose and borage. I don’t have oily or acne prone skin, so I cannot comment on how this would work for those skin types.

I’ve applied this cream concealer with fingers, brushes and sponges and it works well with all three, it just depends on your preference. It works great for concealing redness on my skin, and does a decent job at concealing the undereye area, but it does need to be set with a powder to prevent creasing. If my dark circles are bad, I’ll combine this concealer with my Becca Brightening Undereye Corrector for maximum concealing power!

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: This came in my Petit Vour subscription that I pay for.

Best of 2017 – Makeup

Hello, hello!

Today I’m sharing my top makeup picks for 2017. These are all new to me products that I’ve tested out during the year, and do not include any old favourites. These products are the most used, and most loved additions to my makeup collection in 2017.

Best of 2017 Makeup

Masion Jacynthe Fluide de Teint / Fluid Foundation (PR Sample) – This is the perfect foundation for this time of year when my skin needs extra moisture as this is a hydrating and dewy finish foundation. I’ve been adding in a little of one of my paler foundations to get a perfect shade match for my winter pale skin. Reviewed here.

The Ordinary Serum Foundation – This is a great all year round foundation as it contains some SPF, and is lightweight, with what I would call a semi-matte finish (not a super flat matte). I have this in two shades (1.2P and 1.1N). I’d like to try the 1.1P next. Lately I’ve been mixing the two together to make the perfect shade for me! Reviewed here and here.

Milani The Multitasker Face Powder – I use this powder to set my Maison Jacynthe Fluid Foundation, to make the finish is little less dewy, and to cut down on shine on my nose for other foundations. Reviewed here.

Maison Jacynthe Illuminateur / Illuminator  (PR Sample) – I have this in the shade Sparkling Sun, a pale gold toned highlighter. It is great for adding a subtle glow to the skin. Out of all the highlighters that I own, I seem to use this one the most. Reviewed here.

Hey Honey Active Propolis Cream Concealer – This concealer works so well for the under eye area as it hydrates and conceals. Reviewed here.

Best of 2017 Makeup

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks in Pepper, Rhubarb, and Verbena – I’ve been wearing these lipsticks ALL THE TIME since purchasing my first one in the spring. The best lipstick formula I’ve ever tried. Reviewed here, here and here.

Sothys Paris Velvet Effect Lipstick in Rose le Pic (PR Sample) – This lipstick formula comes close to the perfection of the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick. It is a very wearable rose shade that I’ve been wearing a lot. Reviewed here.

Essence Cosmetics The False Lashes Mascara – This is the best non-waterproof mascara I’ve ever tried. My eyes water easily, so most non-waterproof mascaras are a no-go for me. This one has everything I look for in a mascara – deep, dark, ultra black, volumizing, lengthening, AND hold a curl without flaking or running / smearing. I need to pick up a new tube asap! Reviewed here.

What were your most favourite products for 2017?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: All PR Samples identified, the rest have been purchased by me. My opinion is my own.

The Ordinary Serum Foundation 1.1N Swatching

Hello, hello!

I’ve reviewed this foundation in the shade 1.2P light with pink undertones that I’ve been wearing all summer. I tend to switch to a lighter shade for the colder months so I decided to try out the shade 1.1N fair neutral. This is less of a review and more of a swatching and comparison post as the formula is the same as what I’ve already reviewed here. (info in italics taken from The Ordinary website).

Serum Foundations are lightweight medium-coverage formulations available in a comprehensive shade range across 21 shades. These foundations offer moderate coverage that looks natural with a very lightweight serum feel.

The Ordinary Serum Foundation 1.1N Fair Neutral

The pigments used in this format are treated for a rich, highly-saturated effect. These pigments are suspended in our proprietary spreadability system that allows pigments to look natural on the skin, resist collecting within fine lines and stay on for longer. The foundations offer a semi-matte finish and are compatible with most primers

The Ordinary Serum Foundation 1.1N Fair Neutral

I love how lightweight and natural this foundation looks and feels on my skin.

How does this shade compare to my other foundations?

Swatched from left to right: Nyx Total Control drop foundation in Porcelain , The Ordinary Serum Foundation 1.1N Fair Neutral, The Ordinary Serum Foundation in 1.2P Light with Pink Tones, and Maison Jacynthe Fluid Foundation in Porcelain.

The Ordinary Serum Foundation 1.1N Fair Neutral

Here’s another swatch with the foundations very slightly blended out:

The Ordinary Serum Foundation 1.1N Fair Neutral

Shade 1.1N blends really well with my current level of pale to fair skintone.

Do you wear the same shade of foundation all year? Or do you change shades?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: I purchased this. And my opinion is very much my own!
