Cumulative Empties Aug to Dec 2020 – Hair, Body and Makeup

Hello, hello! Welcome to / welcome back to A Brash Attitude!

Earlier this week I shared my cumulative skincare empties, and today I have my haircare, body care an makeup empties (not decluttered makeup, that was a separate post). I didn’t finish up nearly as much in these categories as I did with my skincare stash, but I still feel like I’m making progress in using up products. I will link to my original reviews and let you know if it is something I would purchase / re-purchase or not (by purchase I mean eventually, as my goal is to only buy products when necessary).

Hair and Body Care:

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Shampoo – This was a part of a larger PR package from the brand. The matching conditioner has a few uses left in it, so I’m sure it will be in my next round of empties. I really love the Perfect Repair Shampoo – it makes my hair so soft and healthy feeling. I would purchase a full size of this if I can get it here, or order online from a Canadian website.

MoMi Beauty Styling Jelly – This was from my Petit Vour subscription. I liked this a lot, it worked well for my wavy, frizz prone hair. I would love to get a full size of this eventually – once I use up my current stash of styling products.

Sothys Pro-Youth Body Serum – This was a PR product. This is more like a rich body butter than a serum. Amazing for dry skin, and left my skin silky smooth. It is on the pricy side though, and I have a few body lotions / body butters to use up in my stash.

Makeup Empties:

Essence Cosmetics Lips Go Wow Plumping Lip Gloss – I LOVE this lip plumping gloss. It doesn’t sting or burn like a lot of lip plumpers. I plan on getting another one if they still have them at Shoppers / Pharmaprix.

Smashbox SuperFan Mascara – This was a free deluxe sample with purchase. Its a nice mascara, but didn’t hold a curl well for me, so I would not purchase a full size. I think that it is a great mascara if you don’t have stick straight lashes like I do!

So there you have it, the final empties for 2020. I’ve already finished up a few things this month, so I might return to a monthly empties format as long as I finish up a minimum of five products each month.

I’ll be back next week with some Bath and Body product reviews.

Thanks for reading have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: Post contains both PR and self-purchased products – all are individually identified. My opinion is my own regardless and is based on my experience with the product(s).

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Intense K.i.s.s.i.n.g Lipstick Review

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Intense

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of my very first Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick – the Pillow Talk Intense K.i.s.s.i.n.g shade! I purchased this for myself during the annual spring sale at Sephora. [info in italics taken from the Charlotte Tilbury website]

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Intense

Fall in love with MORE Pillow Talk magic!

Darlings, lipstick is happiness in a tube! Fall even deeper in love with the MAGIC of Pillow Talk with my NEW! moisturizing deep berry-rose lipstick in K.I.S.S.I.N.G Pillow Talk Intense!

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Intense

Loved by supermodels and stars, my ORIGINAL, UNIVERSALLY FLATTERING, nude-pink Pillow Talk hue has been dialled up for everyone, every moment and every mood! This deeper, sweeter hue of Pillow Talk is in my super moisturizing K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula and looks extra dreamy on tan and deep skin tones for a sumptuous, satin-finish pout.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Intense The berry-rose shade is stunning, and the finish is hydrating and satiny. Although the description says that is looks dreamy on tan and deep skin tones, I think it works well for my pale to fair skintone.

Now that I’ve finally tried one of her lipsticks, I definitely want more! I cannot believe that it has taken me this long to get one for myself! I’m currently eyeing the red and coral shades.

Smashbox Super Fan Mascara Review

Smashbox Super Fan Mascara

Hello, hello! Welcome to A BRASH ATTITUDE!

Today I’m reviewing the Smashbox Super Fan Mascara. I got it as a free sample / gift with purchase with my last Shoppers Drug Mart / Pharmaprix online order. [info in italics taken from the Smashbox website]

Smashbox Super Fan Mascara

This lengthening mascara gives you modern, fanned-out volume. Get 12-hour length, lift and volume without any heaviness or clumping.

• Buildable lift, length and volume that lasts for 12 hours
• 360° Precision double-bristle brush loads product from root-to tip, while the soft comb reaches, styles & reveals lashes you never knew you had
• Super-black formula keeps lashes looking fuller and thicker without any clumping, smudging, flaking or heaviness
• Cruelty-free

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you will know that I am admittedly mega picky about mascara. I have long, super stick-straight lashes that are quite light in colour considering my natural hair colour is dark brown. I always use a lash curler before applying mascara. My eyes are sensitive, and water easily so any mascara that I use must be smudge proof, and water-resistant (ideally waterproof).

Smashbox Super Fan Mascara

I have seven requirements for a mascara, and I’ll comment on each requirement and score each point. So how did the Super Fan Mascara measure up?

1. waterproof / water resistant – +3/4 This is not a waterproof formulation, but it did mostly withstand my watery eyes, so it is somewhat water resistant.

2. smudge-proof +1

3. non-flaking / non-clumping +1

4. must be DARK black (not blackish, not brown black, and definitely not grey black) +1 Super mega black!

5. volumizing +1/2 Fairly good volume, but not mega volume.

6. must hold a curl +1/2 It holds a curl for me for about four hours before my lashes start to return to their natural stick straight form.

7. non-irritating to my sensitive eyes +1

Smashbox Super Fan Mascara

The brush is really great for getting the micro lashes at the inner and outer eye corners. Overall I would give this mascara a 5.75 out of 7! I do wish that it held a curl better. The lengthening is really nice, but my lashes are quite long naturally so it isn’t a must have for me. This isn’t a holy grail for me, but it is quite good. If you don’t have stick straight lashes, this might be perfect for you!

Have you tried this mascara, did you like it?

Thanks for reading, have a beautiful day!

Empties March 2020

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties post for you. I didn’t finish up as much as I had hoped, but progress is progress when it comes to using up the things in my stash and not wasting them! I’ll include links to my original reviews and let you know if I would want to re-purchase either right away or eventually.

Empties March 2020 1

EVOLVh UltraRepair Reconstructing Masque – This was a PR sample. I loved this hair mask so much, and it is on my wishlist to buy the full size as soon as I use up another mask in my stash. Review is here.

Rahua Classic Shampoo & Conditioner – These were from my Petit Vour subscription. I liked them a lot. I’d like to try more from this brand – maybe for wavy/curly or dry hair. Review is here.

Cake Beauty The Posh Wash and The Soft Serve – These smell so good, and work well with my hair, so I’m sure I’ll eventually buy them again. Review is here.

Skincare and Makeup:

Empties March 2020 - Skincare and Makeup with Moor Spa, Sothys, Essence, Eyes of Horus

Moor Spa Supreme Cream – This was a PR sample. I mainly uses this cream at night, as I prefer something a little lighter in the day time if I’m wearing makeup. I have a few moisturizers in my stash to use up, so no need to even think about purchasing a full size. Review is here.

Sothys Hydra3Ha Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Youth Cream – Another PR sample. This one was great for day or night use. I always need a little hydration boost in the fall and winter months so this worked well for me. I have a few moisturizers in my stash to use up, so no need to even think about purchasing a replacement. Review is here.

Essence Lash Princess Waterproof Mascara – I really liked this mascara, and gave it a score of 6.75 out of 7. I  would definitely re-purchase this one. Review is here.

Eye Of Horus Brow Define – Another Petit Vour box product. This was my very first micro brow pencil. I’ve since purchased one from Essence to try out, but would love to get this one eventually. Review is here.

Essence Make Me Brow Tinted Brow Mascara – I’ve already purchased a new one, it is that good! Reviews are here and here.

So there you have it! Were you able to finish up much this month?

Thanks for reading have a beautiful day!

Sothys Spring Summer 2020 Collection – Été Balinais – Review & Swatching

Sothys Été Balinais Spring Summer 2020

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of some of the products in the new Sothys Spring 2020 Collection – Été Balinais! These are PR samples from Sothys and PozPub [info in italics taken from press release and from the Sothys website]

This season, Sothys whisks you off to Indonesia in search of the most beautiful islands. From Sumatra to Bali, discover our seven new favourites in vibrant sunny summer colours.

A harmony of Terracotta with pink and brown shades to give a vibrant, chic effect. A touch of glittering bronze for a radiant, sunny finish…enhanced with a bright, bold Fuchsia for fresh and vivid make-up.

Sothys Été Balinais Spring Summer 2020

The spring collection is comprised of seven new products – one Bronzing powder, one Illuminating powder for eyelids, complexion and decolleté, two sets of Smoky eye duo pencils with a eye contour and smoky eye pencil, two Rouges intenses lipsticks, and one Venis Sothys nail polish. Let’s take a look at what I received:

Illuminating Powder for eyelids, complexion and decolleté (#20 Bronze Sumatra)

Sothys Été Balinais Spring Summer 2020

Multi-purpose powder with a soft texture which allows you to adapt the coverage with no caking effect. Formula enriched with light-reflecting pearls for a luminous and radiant complexion and decolletage. Universal shade which adapts to all skin tones.

Sothys Bali2

This is a gorgeous illuminating / highlighting powder, very finely milled and silky to apply. The shade is rose gold in tone and can be used for both a subtle and a blinding look!

Smoky Eye Pencil Duos (#30 Brun and Kaki Suma, and #40 Bronze and Cuivré Lombok)

Eye contour pencil & Smoky eye pencil – A jumbo pencil for easy application, perfect coverage and long wear with a sparkly finish. A retractable eye contour pencil with a thin lead for a precise line and a matte finish for use as a khôl pencil.

Both colour duos are beautiful and can be worn for both a day look and a glam evening look, depending on application. These would be great for travel!

Rouges Intenses Satiny Lipstitck (#237 Fushia Jasmin, and #238 Brun Rosé Temple)

Creamy and gliding texture – Satin finish – Medium coverage – Nourishing effect – Softness on application and long wear.

Sothys Été Balinais Spring Summer 2020

I’ve raved about the beautiful texture of these lipsticks before – so smooth and highly pigmented! Both shades are long wearing – and I love both shades!

What do you think of this mini collection for spring – it launches on March 24th!

Thanks for reading have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: In case you missed it at the beginning, this was a PR package. However, my opinion is very much my own.

Aether Beauty Amethyst Single Shadow Review

Aether Beauty Amethyst Single Shadow

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing a Single Shadow from Aether Beauty that came in my January Petit Vour box. I’ve been eyeing their palettes for awhile now, so I was super excited to find a single shadow to try out in my subscription box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Aether Beauty Amethyst Single Shadow

The perfect day to night romantic shades. Customize your palette with these go-to single eyeshadows.

Formulated with organic coconut oil and organic shea butter, it creates a smooth, buttery texture for one swipe application. Infused with organic rosehip oil which provides radiant looking, glowing skin.

Aether Beauty Amethyst Single Shadow

The single shadow is available on the Petit Vour website in two shades: Amethyst, a purple gray metallic infused with amethyst, and  Solar Eclipse, a peach metallic, infused with topaz. I received the shade Amethyst.

Aether Beauty Amethyst Single Shadow

It is a super wearable shade – on me it tends to pull more purple taupe than purple gray which I really like. The texture is super smooth and buttery, and it is highly pigmented. I’ve swatched it both with and without primer (the primer is not a good shade for my eyelids, but it works great for swatching). This shadow is so difficult to photograph – I tried photographing it from different angles to try to capture how truly beautiful it is!

Aether Beauty Amethyst6

I don’t buy eyeshadow very often, because I already own quite a lot, but I really think that I want to get either the Rose Quartz or the Solstice palette.

Ingredients 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan | Mica*, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate*, Zinc Stearate*, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate*, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Rosa (Rose Hip) Canina Seed Oil**, Silica*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil***, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*** Tin Oxide, (Rose) Quartz*, Alumina* May Contain: Bronze Powder*, Titanium Dioxide, Manganese Violet, Iron Oxides, Ultramarines*, Bismuth Oxychloride | *Certified Organic Ingredients, Natural Derived, Fair Trade.

Have you tried any of the shadows / palettes from Aether Beauty?

Thanks for reading have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: This came in my Petit Vour subscription that I pay for.

Empties January 2020

Hello, hello!

Today I have my monthly empties. I didn’t finish up as much as I’d hoped, and am SO CLOSE to finishing a couple of moisturizers. But progress is progress when it comes to finishing up things from my stash! I’m on a low buy, so if I say I’ll purchase / re-purchase it means that I would do so eventually. My goal is to only buy necessities.

Skincare Empties:

Empties January 2020 - Skincare

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA, and Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% – I have at least two more acid type peels to use up, and at least three serums to use up, and so many on my wishlist, that it is doubtful that I will repurchase in the near future. Reviews are here and here.

Derma E Radiance Toner (Glycolic Acid & Rooibos) – I liked this toner (Petit Vour subscription sample). I have other toners to use up, but I really liked this one as it felt gentle. Review is here.

Lavido Aromatic Body Lotion (Mandarin, Orange & Bergamot) – Another Petit Vour sample. I mainly used this as a hand cream, it worked great! I have other body lotions in my stash to use up. Review is here.

Kalos After Hours Soothing Night Cream – A Petit Vour sample. I’m sad that this is empty, it is such an amazing and gentle night cream, especially great for dry and sensitive skin. This one is on my wishlist, as I have a few more moisturizers and creams to use up. Review is here.

Kariderm Moisturizing Protective Cream – This was a PR sample. Another amazing face cream, great for dry and sensitive skin. Lightweight in texture but really hydrating. I would purchase this if I didn’t have a few more to finish up! Review is here.

Makeup Empties:

Empties Jan 2020 2

Catrice Rock Couture Extreme Volume Mascara (Waterproof) – I liked this mascara, but I didn’t love it because it didn’t give me enough volume so I won’t repurchase this one. Review is here.

Maison Jacynthe Fluide de Teint Fluid Foundation – PR Sample. This was in my stash way too long for a liquid product (2.5 years!), so it had to go. I currently have a few foundations in my stash and a list of more that I want to try, so no purchase right now. Review is here.

Hey Honey Trick and Treat Concealer – I think this was an Ipsy Glam Bag sample. A fantastic concealer, I finished it up by mainly using it for toning down the redness in my cheeks on minimal makeup (no foundation) days. I have other concealers to use up currently. Review is here.

Not pictured: Nyx #NOFILTER Finishing Powder – I finally finished this powder! And I cannot find it – I think that the packaging might have gone out in last week’s recycling. I really liked this finishing powder, but I have others in my stash to use up, and a list of powders that I’d like to try. Review is here.

Did you finish up much this month?

Thanks for reading have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: This post contains mostly products paid for by me, and one PR sample.

Nyx Cosmetics High Glass Finishing Powder Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the High Glass Finishing Powder from Nyx Cosmetics that I recently purchased online because I finally managed to finish my last pressed powder! [info in italics taken from the Nyx Canada website]

Nyx High Glass Finishing Powder

Blur imperfections and keep it glassy all-day long with our new High Glass Finishing Powder! As Step 2 of our 3-Step High Glass Skin Regimen, this versatile formula was designed to be worn over High Glass Face Primer or the foundation of choice. Available in three light-reflecting shades which stretch across light to deep skin tones (light, medium, and deep), each shimmering setting powder sets your makeup and gives the complexion a sleek and polished glass-like glow. Glass skin, defined: Evolving from K-Beauty’s dedication to a healthy, glowy, hydrated-looking complexion, “glass skin” refers to skin that looks translucent, smooth and reflective—just like a pane of glass.

Nyx High Glass Finishing Powder

This powder is available in three shades: light, medium and deep. I purchased the shade light.

Nyx High Glass Finishing Powder

I had though that this finishing powder would probably give my skin a radiant glowy finish, but wow, this is mega glittery, when I use it, it looks as if I did my whole face with a highlighting powder. Way too shimmery for every day usage for me! I will however use it as a highlighter, because it is really pretty.

Nyx High Glass Finishing Powder

Have you tried this powder?

Thanks for reading have a beautiful day!

Ace Beaute Glimmer Shadow Review (Iced Latte)

Hello, hello!

Today I have a little review and swatching of another one of the many goodies that I won in Rossy’s (Ayr Galaxy) giveaway awhile back – the Ace Beaute Glimmer Shadow in the shade Iced Latte. [info in italics taken from the Ace Beaute website]

Ace Beaute Iced Latte1

High pigmented soft shadows with a creamy texture specially designed for ultimate color pay-off. These shadows provide bold color in one swipe without fallout, creasing or fading.

Use a shader brush or your finger to apply to the desired area. For a foiled effect, spray brush lightly before picking up shadows

Ace Beaute Glimmer Shadow Iced Latte

The Glimmer Shadow reminds me of the Colour Pop Super Shock shadows as they have  a similar bouncy texture. The Iced Latte shade is a really pretty coppery bronze metallic shade – perfect for holiday looks!

Ace Beaute Glimmer Shadow Iced Latte

Synthetic brush and / or finger application seems to work best with this type of shadow. I find that some primers make it hard to blend this type of shadow out, so using a setting after applying and blending works to help lock it into place!

Have you tried anything from Ace Beaute?

Thanks for reading have a beautiful day!

Disclosure: In case you missed it at the very beginning, this was one of several things that I won in a giveaway awhile back (thanks Rossy!).
