Empties November 2019

Hello, hello!

Another month’s worth of empties – I think that I’ve made really great progress on my stash this month! Because I’m on a low-buy (only buying things when necessary, if I say that I would re-purchase it means eventually, not right away).

Let’s take a look:

Skincare

Empties November 2019 - Skincare

Akar Skin Balance Toning Mist – This was from my Petit Vour subscription. I loved it a lot and would love to buy a full size eventually. Review is here.

Osea Atmosphere Protection Cream – Another Petit Vour gem that I loved. Lightweight hydration. Would purchase this one. Review is here.

By Anhesa Cedar Face Cream – I won this in a giveaway. This one is great for when my skin is dry and I need a moisture boost. And it smells wonderful. Would buy. Review is here.

Honua Skincare Pa’akai Cleansing Cream – This was such a dreamy cleansing cream from my Petit Vour subscription. Would LOVE to buy a full size of this but have so many cleansers to use up. Review is here.

Cosmessential Premium Facial Serum The Grande – This was a PR sample. It worked really well for me. It was lightweight, super-hydrating and filled with loads of anti-aging ingredients. Would buy if I didn’t have several more serums to use up. Review is here.

Haircare:

Empties November 2019 - Haircare

Maui Moisture Color Protection + Sea Minerals Shampoo & Conditioner – I’ve purchased several of the Maui Moisture formulations over the past year (or two). This one might be my favourite! It helped keep my colour from fading fast and made my hair feel soft and clean. I’ll probably buy this again (eventually). Review is here.

Makeup:

Empties November 2019 - Makeup

Harvest Natural Beauty Lengthening Organic Mascara – Another Petit Vour box item. This wasn’t the mascara for me as it isn’t waterproof and my eyes water easily. If you don’t have watery eyes, you might like it a lot. Review is here.

Essence I ❤ Extreme Volume Mascara (Waterproof) – This is one of my go-to mascaras. It adds volume, holds a curl and its waterproof. Been buying this mascara since 2016! Review is here.

Joik Gloss & Care Lip Oil – My friend brought this back from Estonia a few months ago. I’m sad that it is empty because I love it so much! I bought my first one back in 2017 when I travelled to Estonia. International shipping is quite expensive, so this is going on the wishlist. Review is here.

There were a few more products that I’m so close to finishing up, hopefully they’ll be in next month’s empties. Do you finish up much this month?

Maui Moisture Colour Protection + Sea Minerals Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of a shampoo and conditioner set from Maui Moisture that has been in my stash for a little while –  Colour Protection + Sea Minerals. I’ve been using it for around 6 weeks now, so I think it’s finally time for a review! [info in italics taken from the Maui Moisture website]

MauiMoisture SeaMinerals

Inspired by the ocean, dive deep into hydration with our Maui Moisture Colour Protection + Sea Minerals Shampoo [and Conditioner]. Infused with sea minerals, algae, and sea kelp, this blend, free from silicones, parabens, SLS, gluten, and vegan friendly, is sure to help hair colour stay as vibrant as your inner mermaid with a healthy-looking glow and moisturized strands.

MauiMoisture SeaMinerals

This shampoo and conditioner duo is great for my wavy, colour-treated hair. My colour seems to fade less quickly with using them – always a good thing. The shampoo cleans without stripping, and lathers really well for a sulfate-free formula. The conditioner does a great job to hydrate my hair without making it feel waxy or heavy. The scent is really nice, I can’t quite figure out what it smells like, but I like it – it is fresh smelling (and thankfully not over-scented).

Have you tried this shampoo and conditioner?

Maui Moisture Body Care – Extra Hydrating + Shea Butter Body Lotion Review

Maui Moisture Body Care - Extra Hydrating + Shea Butter Body Lotion

Hello, hello!

I’m back after a short hiatus with a review of a new body care product from Maui Moisture – the Extra Hydrating + Shea Butter Body Lotion that I bought for myself recently. In the past I’ve reviewed some of their hair care line (here and here). [info in italics taken from the Maui Moisture website]

Maui Moisture Body Care - Extra Hydrating + Shea Butter Body Lotion

Deeply quench, soften and renew skin with Maui Moisture’s Extra Hydrating + Shea Butter Silicone Free Body Lotion. Creamy shea butter is infused into this hydrating body lotion, blended with rich coconut and macadamia oils. This formula deeply quenches and softens for renewed, silky soft skin. Unlike some other body products that start with deionized water, Maui Moisture starts with a unique blend with aloe vera and is infused with coconut water, the results? Moisturized skin and a healthy-looking glow with every use!

MauiMoisture2

This scent is similar to their Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner. It is super hydrating and doesn’t feel heavy or greasy. It does, however take a little longer to absorb into the skin – so this is not the one to use if I am in a rush. But once absorbed, the hydration is long lasting!

Maui Moisture Body Care - Extra Hydrating + Shea Butter Body Lotion

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Water (Aqua), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Diisopropyl Sebacate, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Polyquaternium-7, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Ceteareth-20, Glyceryl Stearate, Maltodextrin, Sodium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance (Parfum).

It does contain fragrance, so if you are perfume sensitive, it might not work for you. It doesn’t trigger my allergies / sensitivities, thankfully!

Have you tried any of their body care line?

Empties – January 2018

Hello, hello!

I’m still working my way through my stash, and managed to finish up a few more things in January. There are a few more that are *so close* to being finished, so they’ll be in next month’s empties post.

January 2018 Empties

Hair and body care products:

January 2018 Empties

Maui Moisture Strength & Anti-Breakage Agave Shampoo & Conditioner – If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you’ll know that I’ve tried out several of the shampoo and conditioner sets from Maui Moisture over the past year or so. I think that this one is my favourite thus far. I’m currently trying out a set from another cruelty free brand, so I won’t be repurchasing right away. Review is here.

Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter in The Briar Path – This is one of their seasonal scents, so it isn’t always available, and not easily replaceable right now. I’ve spoken about my love for their Pumpkin Butters many times. I think that this might be one of the last full size jars in my stash.

Skincare and aromatherapy:

January 2018 Empties

Matter Lip Balm – This was given to me for my birthday, and it went everywhere with me in my bag as it was attached to my key ring. I’m a lip balm addict, so you know that I loved this peppermint and orange oil based balm! I have a few more lip balms in my stash to use up, but this one is on my re-stock list. Review is here.

Rebels Refinery Capital Vices Lip Balm in Passionfruit – I had two of these lip balms, and I’ll likely get another one the next time I’m in Toronto. At first I thought that this was going to be a cool looking, but terrible lip balm, but it was not the case! Review is here.

Odacitè Synergie [4] Immediate Skin Perfecting Beauty Masque – This came in a recent Petit Vour box. I really liked how it made my skin feel super cleansed, but not stripped. It is quite pricy, so I won’t be purchasing the full size at this point in time. Review is here.

Saje Natural Wellness Immune Diffuser Blend – I use this whenever one of us in the house is feeling under the weather. I have a stash of essential oils (singles and blends) for my diffuser, so I don’t need to replace this right away. Review is here.

Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Bath & Shower Oil – Another Petit Vour sample. This was a lovely bath oil, so perfect for relaxing after yoga! It is fairly pricy, so I won’t be purchasing a full size right now. Review is here.

Makeup:

January 2018 Empties

Physicians Formula Super BB #InstaReady Bb Cream – I got this at Generation Beauty in 2016, so it is time to get rid of this. I have not used this for ages, but remember liking it when I was using it. I have other products in my stash to use up, so I won’t be replacing it. Review is here.

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Ultra Natural Mascara – This was another Petit Vour item. Sadly this mascara did not work for me, so I’ll not be purchasing the full size version. Review is here.

ColourPop SuperShock Shadow in Birthday Girl – This was a limited edition gift with purchase to celebrate ColourPop’s birthday back in 2015. When I tried to use it over the holidays, I found that it was dried out, so into the bin it goes. Review is here.

Did you finish up very many products this past month?

Maui Moisture Strength & Anti-Breakage Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Strength & Anti-Breakage Agave Shampoo and Conditioner from Maui Moisture. I’ve been using this for about 7 or 8 weeks now.

Maui Moisture Agave

I’ve previously tested out the Nourish & Moisture + Coconut Milk and the Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter sets (here and here). All info in italics is taken from the Maui Moisture website.

MauiMoisture Agave4

This velvety shampoo [and creamy conditioner] is infused with rich agave, hibiscus and pineapple extract. It’s gentle enough for the most fragile strands while helping to increase elasticity and helps strands resist breakage. Your hair is left tangle free with a healthy shine.

To be honest, the main reason why I purchased this set was because I really liked the scent – I love the combination of the agave, hibiscus and pineapple – it is mildly scented and not at all overpowering or sickly!

MauiMoisture Agave5

Although I do colour my hair, it is not particularly damaged, but it is prone to dryness at the ends, tangles and frizz. I like my shampoo and conditioner to make my hair feel clean, soft / hydrated, and help keep it shiny. This shampoo and conditioner set is working well to tame my thick, wavy hair –  my hair looks and feels super healthy right now, and my ends aren’t as dry as usual.

Have you tried any of the shampoos / conditioners from Maui Moisture? Which one is your fave? If not, what is your current favourite shampoo / conditioner?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Empties October 2017

Hello, hello!

Today I have my stash of empties for October – I think I made good progress in using things up this month!

October 2017 Empties

Maui Moisture Revive + Hydrate Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner – This worked really well for my thick, wavy, frizz-prone hair. I just purchased the Strength + Anti-Breakage Agave Shampoo and Conditioner to try out instead of repurchasing this one. Review is here.

October 2017 Empties

Ahimsa Naturals Solid Brush Cleanser in Rosemary & Lavender – This was a great brush cleanser, it took me almost 2.5 years to use up. If I can find this locally, I’ll repurchase. Review is here.

Saje Natural Wellness Stress Relief Diffuser Blend – Once I use up a few more of the essential oils in my stash, this will be one of the ones that I will be repurchasing as the lavender based scent is so lovely and relaxing. Review is here.

Oct 2017 Empties

Badger Balm Ginger & Lemon Lip Balm – This was a good lip balm, I might repurchase once my stash is used up. This one was never reviewed.

Saje Natural Wellness Lip Balms in Sweet Lips and Tingle Lips – I loved both of these lip balms, and plan to repurchase the next time that I order some Diffuser Blends from Saje. Review is here.

The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer – I liked this primer a lot, but it started to thicken and congeal (GROSS) so I didn’t bother finishing the last bit in the bottle. I don’t think that I will repurchase this one as there are other primers that I’d like to try. Review is here.

Oct 2017 Empties

Neal’s Yard Remedies Frankincense Intense Lift Serum* – I am sad that this one is finished, this might be the most beautiful serum that I’ve ever used. Sadly it is pricy, and I don’t have the budget to repurchase this right now. But it is going to the top of my wishlist! Review is here.

The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% Emulsion – This is one of the best and most affordable retinol serums that I’ve ever used. I’ve already repurchased a back up of this one. Review is here.

The Ordinary Matrixyl 10% + HA – I’ve tried this one and the Buffet, both are peptide serums and both work well. But I don’t need both of them. I’ve already repurchased the Buffet serum. Review is here.

The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% – This made my skin look great, but my skin never adjusted and it always stung when I used it. Instead of repurchasing this one, I am currently testing out the Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% (also from The Ordinary). Review of the Vitamin C Suspension is here, review of the serum is coming later this month.

E Nature Birch Juice Hydro Sleeping Pack – This sample came in my September Ipsy GlamBag. I’ve been occasionally using it a night when I felt like my skin needed a moisture boost. I have so many night creams / sleeping packs on my wish list, that I’m not going to be purchasing a full size of this one at this time. I never actually reviewed this one, but I really liked it.

So there you have it, all the things I’ve managed to use up this month! Have you finished up very many things this month?

Disclosure: All items except for the one marked with * were purchased by me. The product marked with * was a PR sample. Please see original review for details.

Haircare:

MauiMoisture5

Maui Mositure Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner – This shampoo and conditioner set really has helped keep my hair under control during the summer months. Original review is here.

Makeup:

Bite Beauty Everday Agave Lip Mask – I apply this every night before I go to bed and wake up with the softest / smoothest lips. Original review is here.

Maison Jacynthe Illuminator *- I am so in love with this beautiful highlighter. I think that I’ve worn it every single time I’ve worn makeup this month! Original review is here.
