Odacité Black Mint Cleanser Review

Hello, hello!

Today I have a review of the Black Mint Cleanser from Odacité that came in my August Petit Vour box. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Odacité Black Mint Cleanser

This ultra-fresh minty gel transforms into a purifying foam that delivers an instant deep cleanse, eliminating excess oil, impurities, environmental toxins and makeup. Deeply purified, skin is invigorated with an extraordinary feeling of freshness. Complexion is clear and mattified, while hydration is preserved. Deep-cleanse combination, oily, or acne-prone skin. Skin is clear, invigorated and mattified.

Because this cleanser has tea tree oil in it, I did two patch tests instead of my usual one, the first one on my arm, and the second one on my neck before trying it on my face – thankfully no reaction, so I was able to test it out for several days without incident.

Odacité Black Mint Cleanser

The cleanser is blackish-grey on the skin and smells super minty. It has a pleasant cooling tingle (and not the scary face melting kind)! The Black Mint Cleanser made my skin feel deeply cleansed without drying it out. I really like this facial cleanser!

Because my skin is both sensitive and in the normal to dry range, I personally would not use this every day, but probably once, maybe twice a week for a deep clean. I think that it would work amazingly well as a daily cleanser for oily or acne prone skin.

Petit Vour Unboxing + First Impressions – August 2018

Hello, hello!

My Petit Vour box finally arrived! This is just an unboxing and first impressions as I’ve not yet had the chance to test things out. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour Unboxing August 2018

Petit Vour is a cruelty-free and vegan monthly subscription box with four (occasionally five) products. The subscription is $18 USD a month in the U.S., $23 USD for Canada, and $25 USD for the rest of the world. With the exchange rate (1.3365) my box cost me $30.74 CAD this month

Let’s take a look inside to see what I got this month:

Petit Vour Unboxing August 2018

Petit Vour Unboxing August 2018

Eye of Horus Brow Define (full size $25 USD) in the shade medium

Brow Define is your ultimate brow tool. This brow pencil is formulated using Coconut and Candelilla wax as a foundation. It contains castor oil for strengthening and growth and, like all Eye of Horus products, it is paraben-free with a slim, pointed tip. It contours and fills in color with controlled artistry for perfect arches. Add shape, color, and definition in one streamlined tool. The twist-up applicator assists with product control, and a spoolie brush combs through color. Waterproof and smudge-free.

I love eyebrow pencils and this one sounds great, I really hope that the shade medium works for me! I’ll test it out and have comparison swatches with all of the brow pencils in my stash.

Odacité Black Mint Cleanser (sample size $14 USD , full size $39 USD)

This ultra-fresh minty gel transforms into a purifying foam that delivers an instant deep cleanse, eliminating excess oil, impurities, environmental toxins and makeup.

Deeply purified, skin is invigorated with an extraordinary feeling of freshness. Complexion is clear and mattified, while hydration is preserved.

Deep-cleanse combination, oily, or acne-prone skin. Skin is clear, invigorated and mattified.

Hopefully this will work for my sensitive skin. I’ll do my patch test tonight before testing it on my face!

Formulary 55 Sea Clay Body Mask ($8 USD)

An all over detoxifying body treatment mask that is especially effective on the neck, back, and decolletage. Designed to tone, treat, and tighten; this purifying body mask removes impurities, pollutants and excess oils without stripping the skin.

I’ve never tried a body mask before, so this might be interesting. Again, I’ll be doing a patch test before trying it out all over!

St. Tropica Organic Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask ($5 USD)

WHAT IT IS: A hot oil hair mask for stronger, thicker, lustrous hair! WHAT IT DOES:
Instantly repairs hair damage from the inside-out. Helps stimulate hair growth. Revitalizes & strengthens dry or damaged hair. Locks-in moisture to help eliminate split ends and frizzy hair.

I love hair masks, hopefully this one won’t smell too coconutty for me! If I does I might add some essential oil to camouflage the scent because I really want to try this one out! It looks like I’ll get a few uses from the foil pack (even with my giant hair).

Petit Vour Unboxing August 2018

Overall, I think that this is a pretty good box this month, the total box value adds up to $52 USD ($69.50 CAD). I’m most excited about the brow pencil and the facial cleanser.

Reviews to follow as soon as I test everything out!

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Empties – January 2018

Hello, hello!

I’m still working my way through my stash, and managed to finish up a few more things in January. There are a few more that are *so close* to being finished, so they’ll be in next month’s empties post.

January 2018 Empties

Hair and body care products:

January 2018 Empties

Maui Moisture Strength & Anti-Breakage Agave Shampoo & Conditioner – If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you’ll know that I’ve tried out several of the shampoo and conditioner sets from Maui Moisture over the past year or so. I think that this one is my favourite thus far. I’m currently trying out a set from another cruelty free brand, so I won’t be repurchasing right away. Review is here.

Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter in The Briar Path – This is one of their seasonal scents, so it isn’t always available, and not easily replaceable right now. I’ve spoken about my love for their Pumpkin Butters many times. I think that this might be one of the last full size jars in my stash.

Skincare and aromatherapy:

January 2018 Empties

Matter Lip Balm – This was given to me for my birthday, and it went everywhere with me in my bag as it was attached to my key ring. I’m a lip balm addict, so you know that I loved this peppermint and orange oil based balm! I have a few more lip balms in my stash to use up, but this one is on my re-stock list. Review is here.

Rebels Refinery Capital Vices Lip Balm in Passionfruit – I had two of these lip balms, and I’ll likely get another one the next time I’m in Toronto. At first I thought that this was going to be a cool looking, but terrible lip balm, but it was not the case! Review is here.

Odacitè Synergie [4] Immediate Skin Perfecting Beauty Masque – This came in a recent Petit Vour box. I really liked how it made my skin feel super cleansed, but not stripped. It is quite pricy, so I won’t be purchasing the full size at this point in time. Review is here.

Saje Natural Wellness Immune Diffuser Blend – I use this whenever one of us in the house is feeling under the weather. I have a stash of essential oils (singles and blends) for my diffuser, so I don’t need to replace this right away. Review is here.

Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Bath & Shower Oil – Another Petit Vour sample. This was a lovely bath oil, so perfect for relaxing after yoga! It is fairly pricy, so I won’t be purchasing a full size right now. Review is here.

Makeup:

January 2018 Empties

Physicians Formula Super BB #InstaReady Bb Cream – I got this at Generation Beauty in 2016, so it is time to get rid of this. I have not used this for ages, but remember liking it when I was using it. I have other products in my stash to use up, so I won’t be replacing it. Review is here.

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Ultra Natural Mascara – This was another Petit Vour item. Sadly this mascara did not work for me, so I’ll not be purchasing the full size version. Review is here.

ColourPop SuperShock Shadow in Birthday Girl – This was a limited edition gift with purchase to celebrate ColourPop’s birthday back in 2015. When I tried to use it over the holidays, I found that it was dried out, so into the bin it goes. Review is here.

Did you finish up very many products this past month?

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day! ❤

Petit Vour December 2017

Friday, Jan 12th – Odacité Synergie [4] Immediate Skin Perfecting Beauty Masque Review

What else?

I’m still managing to keep up with the Yoga With Adriene YWA True daily practices so far. Nearly at the half-way mark for the 30 days!

I bought myself a new pair of winter boots because my old pair was not warm and were heavy and so uncomfortable.

Columbia Minx Mid Boots

These are the Columbia Minx Mid boots, and they have are waterproof, breathable, and toasty warm (up to -25F / -32C). They are super lightweight and the soles feel bouncy!

Odacité Synergie [4] Immediate Skin Perfecting Beauty Masque

Petit Vour December 2017

Hello, hello!

I was originally going to test out the Odacité Synergie [4] Immediate Skin Perfecting Beauty Masque on the weekend, I decided to test it out yesterday instead after my patch test on my arm was fine. [info in italics taken from the Petit Vour website]

Petit Vour December 2017

This powdered facial mask works on four levels:

SYNERGIE[1] DETOX & PURIFY PORES :The synergy of Clay + Activated Charcoal works diligently on your skin, leaving your pores visibly refined and free of blemishes.

SYNERGIE[2] PEEL : The synergy of Enzymes + Fruit Acids works instantly to slough off dead skin cells, encouraging fresh new ones to the surface for a fresh, healthy glow.

SYNERGIE[3] BRIGHTEN & EVEN OUT SKIN TONE: The fast-acting synergy of Vitamin C + Enzymes fades hyperpigmentation and prevents brown spots, revealing a radiant and even skin tone.

SYNERGIE[4]  FIRM: The synergy of Vitamin C + Probiotics works in duo to boost collagen synthesis, providing the skin with the support it needs to stay firm and youthful.

Odacité Synergie [4] Masque

The mask is water activated, but if you want to bump up the effectiveness of one of the four synergies, you can add a different liquid (such as yogurt, milk, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice).

Odacité Synergie [4] Masque

I decided to just use water to test out the mask itself, before trying any other liquids, so I would know how my skin reacted to the mask itself.

Odacite3

I mixed the mask up, with slightly too much water at first, but then added a bit more of the powder to thicken it up (roughly half the package total), applied the facial mask with a brush, and left it on for 15 minutes. After washing off the mask, my face was a little pink. But my skin looked like it had been deeply cleaned – but not aggressively so. It definitely cleans your pores!

I do think that you would need to use this mask several times to really notice the brightening and firming effects, but overall I think that this is a lovely facial mask. I would love to own the full size, but at $59 USD, it will have to go on my wishlist right now.

Odacité Synergie [4] Masque

Messy hair and all! Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day!

Petit Vour Unboxing December 2017

Hello, hello!

Today I have my unboxing and first impressions for December’s Petit Vour box. It arrived last week and I’ve finally had a chance to photograph everything.

Petit Vour December 2017

The monthly Canadian subscription costs $23 USD – with the exchange rate that I paid in December, that works out to be $30 CAD. Let’s take a closer look at what was inside.

Petit Vour Dec3

Province Apothecary Full Brow Serum – I’ve never used a brow serum before, and have skimpy brows, so I’ll definitely be trying this one out! It is also the first product that I will have tried from Province Apothecary. This will probably be several months worth of brow serum since you only use 1 to 2 drops per use. Review to follow once I’ve tested it out for a few weeks.

Petit Vour December 2017

Odacité Synergie [4] Immediate Skin Perfecting Beauty Masque – This facial mask powder sounds interesting as it is a multi-tasker – detox, peel, brighten and firm. I’m going to do a patch test before using it on my face. I do love facial masks, so I’m happy with this one. Review to follow.

Petit Vour December 2017

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Ultra-Natural Mascara – I haven’t tried a natural mascara before, but I’m looking forward to trying it out. Hopefully the claims of no smudging, flaking or clumping hold true. I’m also hoping that it will hold a curl. Review to follow!

Petit Vour December 2017

True Moringa Lip Whip in Truth – I love lip balms, so I’m always happy to get one. Another new to me brand. Review upcoming!

Petit Vour December 2017

Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream – I love skincare products, and after the deep freeze that we’ve been going through, I could use all the hydration! Another brand that I’ve wanted to try for quite awhile! Review to follow once I’ve tested it out!

Total value of this month’s box is $54 USD – which at the exchange rate that I paid works out to be $70.43 CAD! I love that all of the products in the Petit Vour box are cruelty free AND they are also all vegan.

Disclosure: I pay for this monthly subscription. And my opinion is very much always my own!
