Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 12 Review

PP12 Urban Decay Pulp Fiction

Hello, hello!

Can you believe that it has already been 12 weeks?  Today I’m reviewing the 12th of 12 products for my Project Pan 12 collab with these lovely fellow bloggers:  Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayleyyy!

Basically, the Project Pan 12 goal is to use up (or at least make a good attempt to use up) twelve products over the course of twelve weeks, and to review one of the products each week. After the product review, I’ll give a very short comment on the remaining eleven products just to account for whether or not I’ve been successful in using each of the products.

Onto the review!

Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Mini Palette*

I won this palette in a giveaway last October from Hello Kaily, and my original swatch post is here if you want to check it out. The Urban Decay Pulp Fiction mini palette was a special edition palette / limited edition palette from the 20th Anniversary of the cult classic film Pulp Fiction.

As you can see, there are four pans (five shades):  Righteous, a light cream matte, Tyranny, a warm brown matte, Vengeance, a deep taupe brown matte satin and a split pan of Furious / Anger a black satin / white satin.

I love this little palette, it is very wearable and can be used to create both neutral and dramatic looks. The shadows are soft and buttery, and very pigmented. Despite using this palette anywhere from 1 to 3 times each week for the past 12 weeks, as you can hopefully see from my photos, I’ve barely put a dent in the pans!

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 11 Review & Update

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the 11th of 12 products for my Project Pan 12 collab with these lovely fellow bloggers:  Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayleyyy!

Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme – Description is taken from the Sephora website:

A breathtaking seductress caught in a stolen affair between light and dark as Turkish rose sparkles and intrigues beneath notes of spicy ginger and a sultry veil of velvet oud and mystic papyrus.

“She turned the dial until the safe opened, revealing the diamond. She had stolen jewels before, but none compared with this one. She left a single rose and the scent of her perfume in its place for him to find. In a moment she’d be halfway around the world and he would be in pursuit. The chase began again…”

Notes:
Bergamot from Calabria, Ginger from China, Turkish Rose Essence, Turkish Rose Absolue, Incense From Somalia, Velvet Oud Accord, Patchouli from Indonesia, Papyrus from India, Benjoin from Laos.
Style:
Breathtaking. Mysterious. Exhilarating.

I purchased this perfume when it first arrived at Sephora six years ago. At the time, it was probably my most loved fragrance EVER. It smelled like roses and spice, and something dark. A fried of mine used to call this scent a “dirty rose” haha!

As you can see from my super scientific method for tracking usage (using tape to mark the level that the perfume was at on September 5th), I’ve barely made a dent in this perfume.

I don’t know if my scent preferences have changed or if the perfume is starting to go off, but I just don’t love it like I used to. It has been a struggle to use this perfume on a daily basis. Most weeks I’ve been forcing myself to use it at least twice each week. I need to go to Sephora and smell the tester to see whether or not my bottle has started to go off.

According to the Atelier Cologne website, their response to the question of animal testing is:

We do not use ingredients of animal origin. And we do not test our products or raw materials on animals as required by law.

So I’m very excited to find that they are cruelty free!

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 10 Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the 10th of 12 products for my Project Pan 12 collab with these lovely fellow bloggers:  Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayleyyy!

Haus of Gloi Hair Oil – Cozy Sweater Scent

I reviewed the unscented version of this hair oil back in March 2015 – the only difference is that this one has the Cozy Sweater scent added to it (pale skin musk, faded perfume, Egyptian amber, softly burning nag champa incense and a fine aged vanilla).

Haus of Gloi Hair Oil - Cozy Sweater

The Haus of Gloi Hair Oil is made from a blend of several different oils:

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, camellia oleifera (camellia seed) oil, argania spinosa (argan) oil, virgin cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, raphanus sativus (daikon radish) seed oil, cymbidium grandiflorum (orchid) flower extract, equisetum arvense (horsetail grass) extract, lavandula (lavender) flower extract, calendula officinalis (calendula) flower extract, (and) azadirachta indica (neem) leaf extract, vitamin e

In the directions for use, they suggest to use between 1 to 4 drops of the oil. Because my hair is long and thick, I tend to use between 4 to 6 drops of oil. It makes my hair soft and tames frizz.

While I love this hair oil, I don’t this one as often as the unscented version. These days I’ve been forcing myself to use it once a week because I’m getting sick of the scent.

There is no way that I’ll finish this product up within the twelve weeks. As you can see from the tape mark (not nearly as scientific as Stashy with her kitchen scale) – I’ve barely put a dent in this oil in ten weeks!

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 9 Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the 9th of 12 products for my Project Pan 12 collab with these lovely fellow bloggers:  Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayleyyy!

RenPurity No. 1 Cleansing Balm – I originally reviewed this product last November. It is the product that I use when I want to treat my skin with utmost care because it is the most gentle and soothing cleanser that I’ve ever used. It is especially good when my skin is super sensitive and dry in the colder months.

PP12 Ren - Beginning of PP12

A rose infused cleansing balm. When applied with water the balm transforms into a rich milk and leaves skin purified, calm and glowing. It gently yet thoroughly melts away dirt and make up (including waterproof mascara).

It does a great job removing makeup and getting the my skin super clean, but, as I said in my original review, I don’t recommend using it to remove eye makeup or mascara, because it really stings the eyes no matter how carefully you use it.

PP12 Ren - week 9

This cleansing balm comes in a 150ml / 5.1oz tub, so even if you use this daily, it will still take forever to use it up because you need such a small amount each time. I’ve had mine since before I started blogging, and still have not finished it – but I’m hopeful that I’ll finish this one in the remaining weeks of PP12.

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 8 Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the 8th of 12 products for my Project Pan 12 collab with these lovely fellow bloggers:  Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayleyyy!

This week was originally planned for my review of the Sukin Rosehip Day Cream but my mom fell in love with it on our trip, so she has it now. To be fair to my fellow collaborators, this product has been replaced by the Sukin Purifying Facial Masque.

I originally reviewed the Sukin Purifying Facial Masque back in May. Here’s the info from the website:

A purifying base of gentle Kaolin clay combined with soothing aloe vera and antioxidant rich rose hip oil will leave skin feeling refreshed, nurtured and completely clean. Paraben Free.

For the past two weeks I’ve been using this mask once a week. It is so gentle and soothing. I cannot believe that I’ve been neglecting this facial mask. My skin looks and feels amazing after using it! Like all Sukin products, this mask smells amazing – due to the essential oils of tangerine, mandarin orange, lavender, vanilla and grapefruit.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Bentonite, Talc, Kaolin, Lecithin, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil (Rose Hip), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Citric Acid, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Peel Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Vanillin, Vanilla Planifolia Extract, CI 77491, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene*, Linalool*. * Natural component of essential oils.

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 7 Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the 7th of 12 products for my Project Pan 12 collab with these lovely fellow bloggers:  Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayleyyy!

Urban Decay Mini Palette in Urban Vices

PP12 Urban Decay Urban Vices

PP12 Urban Decay Urban Vices

I originally reviewed this mini palette from Urban Decay after Sephora’s V.I.B. sale last year. It comes with an eyeliner that I’ve been using daily since getting this palette, so it isn’t part of the PP12.

PP12 Urban Decay Urban Vices

As you can see, there are four shimmery shades – Dope (pale peach), Hoodoo (pale purple), Derailed (taupe grey metallic) and Smokeout (brown black).  Because there aren’t any matte shades in this palette, I find that I have to use it with other shadows in my collection.

PP12 Urban Decay Urban Vices

My favourite shades are Derailed, and Dope. I’ve been using this palette at least two or three times a week for seven weeks now, and there is barely a dent in it, mainly in my faves!

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 5 Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the fifth of twelve items in my Project Pan Collab with Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayleyyy!

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc

I purchased and reviewed this foundation nearly a year ago. (Original review is here) Here’s what it says on the Nars website about Sheer Glow:

A glowing, natural radiant finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, Sheer Glow Foundation improves the skin’s brightness and texture.

Project Pan 12 - Nars Sheer Glow

When the Project Pan first started, the weather was still summery, so I didn’t get much use from this foundation. But now that the weather is starting to cool down, I’ve been able to wear it a few times each week. I’m not yet winter pale, so I’ve been mixing in a little bit of my IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream in shade Light to make it work. I’ve also been mixing in a few drops of the Nyx Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator. Despite using this foundation several times over the past few weeks, it looks as if I haven’t made a dent in using it up!

This foundation works well for my skin and it doesn’t make my skin feel like it is suffocating.  The coverage is sheer but buildable. My complaint from the original review still stands – why doesn’t this foundation come with a pump? It boggles my mind that you have to buy the pump separately, and most places don’t even sell the pump!

The Remaining eleven products:

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 4 Review

Hello, hello!

One month down, two more to go for the Project Pan 12 Collab!  Today I’m reviewing the fourth of the twelve items in my Project Pan Collab with Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayley!

Brazen Cosmetics Organic Mineral Foundation in Crazed (0N)

I purchased this shortly before I started blogging, so I’ve had this a little more than 1.5 years. The Brazen Cosmetics website does not seem to exist anymore, so I’m unsure if the company is on hiatus or if it no longer exists. They are / were a great indie company that makes / made cruelty free cosmetics, with some vegan products.

This is a great mineral foundation and the colour is perfect for my fair skin in the colder months – the shade is very light, but not chalky looking.  It gives a nice sheer to light buildable coverage, great for days when I don’t want to wear liquid foundation, but still want to be wearing some makeup. I’ve been wearing this a couple of days a week when I don’t have client meetings.

It almost looks like there is more foundation in today’s photo than when I started! haha!

Project Pan 12 Collab, Week 3 Review

Hello, hello!

Today I’m reviewing the third of the twelve items in my Project Pan Collab with the lovely Ingrid from CurlySpringBlossom, and Stashy from Stash Matters, and Chanelle from ChanelleHayley!

Basically, the Project Pan 12 the goal is to use up (or at least make a good attempt to use up) twelve products over the course of twelve weeks, and to review one of the products each week. After the product review, I’ll give a very short comment on the remaining eleven products just to account for whether or not I’ve been successful in using each of the products.

Onto the review!

Organic Surge Perfecting Facial Polish

I received this in my August Ipsy Glam Bag, I’d only used it once before starting the PP12, so it was nearly full. Here’s what it says on the website about the Perfecting Face Polish:

Organic Surge’s natural Perfecting Face Polish stimulates, smoothes and rehydrates all skin types. Finely ground olive stone gently removes dirt, impurities and dead cells to boost skin rejuvenation and reveal a naturally glowing complexion. Rosemary and lemon essential oils purify the skin, while chamomile and ginkgo biloba soothe and almond oil rehydrates, revealing softer, smoother skin. Enjoy a healthier, more radiant complexion after using our natural face polish.

I like this scrub, but I don’t love it because I find that the scrubby bits  (ground olive stone) are sharp, so I have to be very careful not to over-scrub and damage my skin. The creamy cleanser part is gentle, and the rosemary lemon scent is really lovely. I probably could have finished the tube this week, but all of my skincare items were temporarily shelved as I’m currently testing new skincare.
